Hajime x Tsumugi is good, I like it, but they're also such a plain couple actually it's hard for me to really...think of scenarios with them, like its going to be a very generic romance for the most part and like, its cute! its definitely cute! but also its so plain, just how im sure they like it

Sonia x Akane is never going to be a super strong ship for me but it's cute! buff girls! I like postgame content of them grieving together and growing closer because of it, that's good shit!!!

Tenko x Kaede is cute but in the way that like, most tenko ships are cute, not too much more, though imagining tenkos reactions to some of kaedes more...questionable comments is hilarious.

Tenko x Miu i don't really get beyond 'give tenko ALL the girlfriends' i just don't see them with any thing really in common to talk about. I don't dislike it but it's very, shrug.

Hajime x Tsumugi since both are so plain, yet both wish to turn into other people in order to be happy. Hajime turning into Izuru to be accepted by a Talent-focused society, and Tsumugi turning into fictional characters in order to make friends as she doesn't have much since she's too plain. Somehow, the two manage to fill in the gaps in each other and bond, moreso ironic as they both have something the other would want. Hajime has friends, and Tsumugi has a Talent. The two realize that they are happy just being there true selves with each other, as they enjoy their company the most.

I know this isn't really relavant to your ask but all I can think about is Tsumugi putting him into a couple's cosplay and then going to a convention together. They spend all of the money they put aside for it and Hajime picked up new interests he never thought he'd have.

Sure!

Hajime and Tsumugi have really good conversations, at least in their own opinions. They both feel a bit plain sometimes, so they can empathize with each other.

Sometimes Tsumugi can convince Hajime to cosplay with her, if only for some pictures for her portfolio. More often than not, though, Hajime takes pictures for her.

Since both of their classes are kind of…a lot, they like having some time to themselves to cool down. So they’ll alternate choosing things to do for those rest periods, usually watching a show or movie.

Tsumugi stays up late to work on commissions, and though Hajime can’t exactly convince her to go to bed, he will spend that time with her and help how he can so she can sleep sooner.

Hajime’s not exactly an early sleeper either, though, and tends to get in his own head a lot, which Tsumugi does her best to help with. Even if it just means cuddling for a while.

Okay, the song in question. It...really isn't a romance song, but like, you know how when you listen to music, you instinctively make an AMV of the most sickest anime battle of all time? It's that, but instead, someone angsty since whenever I listen to it, I imagine Hajime being rejected by society for not having a talent, yet being accepted on a social scale so he isn't alone. Whereas Tsumugi is accepted by society for having Talent, and rejected due to having no friends and being so plain she's practically forgettable (or she fades into the background, whatever she says). In the mind AMV, Hajime's in a pure white space (Hope), and Tsumugi is in a pure black space (Despair), and while the two have had lives where they rejected themselves, both of them accepted each other for their real selves and don't want the other to change. At least that's the AMV I make.

Hajime and Tsumugi are so plain...they make a plain paradox. Everything about the area they're in is completely average. But...it's a totally weird phenomenon. The air, the temperature, the seat your in is simply normal. Which is weird since everything is constantly not perfectly average. It circles from plain to being simply being ominously odd.

Oh 100% that's exactly how I see them which makes them A REALLY GOOD SHIP because thats engaging as FUCK but its also IMPOSSIBLE to make a playlist for what fucking SONGS do you put for that

As the two spend more time together, Tsumugi is hit with intrusive thoughts where she tries to change herself without Hajime asking her to, convinced that he doesn't really like her or would just get bored with her. This comes to a boiling point when Tsumugi confronts Hajime, while changing into numerous fictional characters Tsumugi made up on the spot, asking him to pick what he likes best. He's the only person who's stuck with her so long, so she wants to keep it that way, even if it means turning into something she isn't.

Hajime finally tells her he just wants her to be herself, causing Tsumugi to leave so she can process things. (I'm just typing what I got from memory, I may be reembelishing things. Also, I may need to rewrite some parts of the story.)

After sometime and talking things over, the two encounter once again on the beach, where she "in an anime-esque fashion", confesses to Hajime. I wanna say that, but it was probably an open to interpretation confession. Hajime tells her he wants to be her boyfriend, she's surprised, but she's also overjoyed. There's the last bit to their relationship buildup, but I'll send that later. I'll just leave by saying this:

Tsumugi was shrouded in nothing but despair. But Hajime became her Hope.

That's probably a plot point.

I'm not sure how a playlist for them would work, but I'm writing this AU story (which I may or may not delve into) where Hajime and Tsumugi are shipped. At first it was because for the sake of the story, I wanted to try something I was 95% sure no one had thought of yet, but then I thought about it more. Both changed themselves to be something else. Hajime the Ultimate Hope aka Izuru. And Tsumugi the Ultimate Despair aka Junko. Of course in this story it's more complicated than that.

Hajime, being Talentless/a Reserve Courser, is rejected by society and practically viewed as expendable. But, by everyone in class...uh.... Chiaki's class because I forget, he's accepted. Though, despite being happy with his friends, Hajime has deep internal thoughts of wanting a Talent due to (story reasons). He wanted to change and perhaps...become an Ultimate. (In this story, Ultimates are made...vastly differently). Despite this, he is in Hope. And he's numerous peoples hope in the early parts of the story (story reasons).

Whereas Tsumugi is accepted by society due to her Cosplayer Talent, but rejected in social circles because she has no social presence, and everyone prefers the characters she cosplays instead of her herself. In fact, Tsumugi is borderline forgotten by all of her classmates and her parents in this story to the point where she feels that she should reject herself entirely. If people would prefer her to be someone else, and her Talent specifically does that, then she'll reject herself and become someone else, and then she'll be happy. She has nothing but despair right now...(plot point)

But soon, Hajime bumps into her, and for the first time, she meets someone who doesn't look past her. Someone who knows that she exists. Someone who sees her for her.
