I once wrote a silverflint/gunnbones au fanfic about when your husband secretely starts knitting, instead of asking you, who’s the actual pro. 2016 was a good year.

I'm going to be a little shit and say soft Gunnbones bc yeah ❤
SAMMMMMMMMM YOU LITTLE - listen i take no responsibility for this.
Also I am 90% sure these sound nothing like them but in my defense I have literally never paid attention to Ben Gunn in my life and Billy doesn’t even know what Billy sounds like.  (Also on AO3!)
---------------
“The task I am giving to you is of the utmost importance. Deliver Flint, then find the cache and return with it.”
The words echo in Ben’s head and he feels fear grip him again. The threat in Silver’s voice - with it or not at all - sends him further into the forest. It’s even more eerie than it had been the first time he’d seen it. Now, there is no battle, no war. No one to run from. Just him, alone - in a forest filled with an increasing number of ghosts - and a nearly impossible task.
He’s been here a week already with no sign of even a shovel mark. He’s had to remember the trapping his father taught him - snares and watching for game tracks and how to make a spear from a knife.
Those memories had served him well when he’d attempted to escape the maroons, and he’d been thankful for them.
Now he wishes he hadn’t ever told the crew of the Walrus about his ability to survive.
He knows he’s never going to be able to find the cache. He knows that, at least. There are too many places Flint could have hidden it and as good as he is at surviving, hunting has never been his forte.
He just hopes that maybe he can stay here long enough that John Silver will forget about him, as he wants the world to forget about Flint.
“And I’ve got a long fucking memory-”
The snap of a twig too heavy to be a deer makes him spin - and he almost loses his footing when he gets tangled in the foliage that snakes the ground.
When he looks up, at first, Ben thinks he must be done for. Surely -
“Ben?” Billy Bones lowers the knife.
“What are you doing here?”
It’s an all too familiar feeling - his life in Billy’s hands. Ben remembers the last time, being so sure he was dead in that water that smelled like burning powder and blood, only to somehow come out alive.
- Or not at all -
“Mr. Silver sent me here to find the cache.” Billy’s mouth hardens and Ben wonders again if he’s about to meet his end at the hands of - well.
“Sent you here to die, more like it.”
As punishment.
“What do you mean?”
“Flint’s the only one who know where it is, isn’t he?” Billy seems like he wants to say more, but instead he just shakes his head. “Nevermind. Come on. Might as well stick together.”
Ben wants to ask why. Why didn’t you shoot me? But he follows silently. He knows when not to tempt fate. Unsurprisingly, Billy has more than enough food to share. Ben had taught him when they were on Nassau and living between the town and the plantations how to trap. It had been hell trying to hide and not get caught and feed everyone and still somehow fight a fight he didn’t understand - but somehow it had felt less like hell than when he was alone in the cage, back on the maroon’s island.
He still has nightmares about that.
But right now, as they sit around the small fire Billy has started and wait for the rabbit to cook, it’s not that near death experience that’s weighing on his mind.
“Why didn’t you shoot me?”
His voice is soft - in truth the words barely come out. Billy looks up from the spit.
“What?”
“In the water. When the Walrus sunk. Why didn’t you shoot me, too?”
Billy stares at him, and then back at the fire. Ben knows it isn’t, but it feels like an eternity before he speaks.
“Out of all of them. Every one of those men that I fought and bled alongside, not one of them would disobey him to help me. I propped him up, tried to help him get rid of Flint - what we all wanted - and in the end he betrayed me and took everyone with him. Except you.”
The intensity of Billy’s gaze has always scared Ben, a little. He usually feels small and insignificant in the face of that intensity at the best of times but now, it feels different. Now he feels like the center of it and he feels almost too big for his own skin.
“You were the only one who cared if I lived when the Spanish raided Nassau. That meant something to me.”
“It just wasn’t right.”
It feels like an excuse for the real reason he hadn’t been able to stand the thought of Billy dying tied and beaten. The real reason he had - for possibly the first time in his life - stood up against something he thought was wrong.
Now when he thinks about all that Silver has done to see his own ending be the one that gets told, he’s more terrified than ever of John Silver - even though he knows the truth and not the story.
Even though he knows the truth he’s still terrified of the man who managed to weave such a convincing lie it stopped what had seemed like an unstoppable war, dead. Cold. That kind of power reminded him too much of the unshakeable and unquestionable authority the queen of the maroons had used to kill his shipmates - that his captain before that had used to keep them all in line. The kind of power he’s been subject to all his life.
Ben has been running from power for so long but in that moment he had defied John Silver in freeing Billy. And somehow Silver had known and sent him here in a fruitless search for what it had cost him.
That Ben would do it again if it meant saving Billy Bones’ life - that didn’t feel like powerlessness.
“It just wasn’t right.” He repeats.
Billy exhales, tilting his head in agreement. “Well.” Ben waits, but there isn’t more to the thought. The rabbit is done; cooked until the skin has just started to burn on the outside, and Ben’s mouth waters at the thought of food. When Billy pulls out a soggy but mostly intact chunk of cheese to slather over the meat, it seems almost an impossibly decadent feast.
As they eat, Ben can see Billy thinking. Finally, “What happened?”
He looks up, confused.
“After they defeated Rogers. I assume if you’re here looking for the cache, Flint isn’t giving up the location to Silver.”
It hits Ben, then - that Billy doesn’t know. Doesn’t know the truth or the lie and it’s in Ben’s hands, which he learns. He thinks back, to trust. To sparing Billy, and Billy sparing him in return. To powerlessness and power over a story. In another small act of defiance against John Silver, he tells Billy Bones the truth.
“The war’s over. Mr. Silver sent Flint to a plantation in Georgia. He’s there, I assume for good from what it sounded like.” Except he’s got - well...
Ben thinks about that too. Seeing the man he had come to fear second only to John Silver himself weeping openly, kissing the blond man who’d been in the field, there. Thomas Hamilton.
“You make sure that Flint sees Thomas Hamilton.”
Ben hadn’t understood that part of the instructions. Why this Hamilton was so important his presence would stop Flint from fleeing, in Silver’s mind. But then he thinks about what he had seen in that field, and about how John Silver is still on the island with the Maroons. With his Madi.
And Ben looks across the fire to Billy.
“You’re telling me that Silver expects Flint to stay put - after he betrayed him and sold the Flint’s war out from under him, just because an old lover is there?”
Ben shrugs. He hadn’t known Flint long enough to know, either way.
“He seemed certain of it. Told me to make sure Flint saw that Hamilton fellow and then come back here, for the treasure.”
“Without a map.”
“I did ask.” He’d asked only once - just before they’d reached Georgia. Asked Flint if he’d give up the location now that he was being given what he’d been promised. His end of the bargain.
Flint’s answer had been a puzzle Ben is still trying to figure out.
“Already?.”
It had seemed both cruel and sad, somehow, but Ben hadn’t gotten a chance to ask for clarification before Flint’s attention had been drawn completely elsewhere.
“He’ll be back for it.” Billy’s voice interrupts his memory.
“Huh?”
“Flint would never let something like this go.”
“Silver said he wouldn’t - couldn’t - be seen again. That he’d stay where Thomas Hamilton was.”
“Flint’s never cared about anyone enough to give up this war before. He’s addicted to getting something from it.”
Billy seems so certain, but again the image of Flint - looking so wholly different than Ben had ever seen him, leaning against Thomas Hamilton - enters his mind.
“Well either way I’ll be here for years - trying to find the cache without a map.”
Billy looks over at him again, seems to be measuring something. What, Ben isn’t sure.
“Don’t.”
“What?”
“Don’t look for it. You’re safe here. Silver won’t come back, not if he hasn’t already. Don’t look for it till I bring you the map.”

Summary:
The year is 1715 and the pirates in New Providence, who’ve grown stronger than ever before, but not strong enough to defeat England, Spain and France, have their own society with their own laws since many years. Before that, long years of skirmish and greater battles with terrible losses for both sides, before England offered the treaty of peace. The pirates will all be pardoned and live as free men, but the pirates have their own demands. In order to honour the peace and leave piracy behind, the following terms have been made considering the controversial relationships in the pirate society:
Neither gender, colour or place of birth will be of any consequence and the only slaves to be allowed are prisoners of war or people in debts who can’t afford to pay. The latters can be kept as slaves until the debt has been repaid.
Matelotages between two men or two woman are to be sees as equal to a marriage in legal terms, as long as the contrac clearly defines wich one in the matelotage who will be the head of the house. The man or woman in charge is to be known as outdoor spouse, and the man or woman taking the submissive role, is referred to as indoor spouse.
The woman in a marriage or the indoor spouse in a male or female matelotage holds no civil rights and is considered the outdoor spouses property. They can’t owe property, can’t file for divorce, can’t be seen outside without their indoor spouse collar and are to obey their outdoor spouse in everything. If they fail to obey, it is the outdoor spouse’s duty to punish their disobedient spouse in order to maintain control.
An indoor spouse who brings shame over her- or himself, the outdoor spouse or their home, will have consequenses for their outdoor spouses role and status in society. In return for the obedience, the outdoor spouse must provide his or her indoor spouse with shelter and protection.
The outdoor spouse cannot take part in any housework, for that will bring him or her down to the indoor spouse level. Exceptions will be made in case of illness or other matters that clearly prevent the spouse to maintain his or her duties. Should the indoor spouse fail to follow the rules or in other ways not be able to live up to an acceptable standard, the outdoor spouse can file for divorce and sell his or her indoor spouse to another buyer, but for a lower price than he or she was first bought.
Should the outdoor spouse pass away before his or her indoor spouse, the law states that the ownership will pass to the closest relative or friend, according to a contract signed and witnessed by the outdoor spouse and the man or woman in question.
Free men and women who hold a public office or have a business of their own, must marry within a year from the opening of their business or acceptance of the public office, in order to keep their status as free citizens. Otherwise, their means will go to the state and they have to close their business. This because it is the firm belief that a society run by bachelors will lead to the ruin of civilization.
It has now been ten years since the bargain was struck and the life in New Providence goes on in relative peace with the civilised world. The peace treaty is still controversial, not the least to the Christians in Europe, but the man currently being the governor over Nassau, Woodes Rogers, is not a religious man and sees the benefits with the treaty. So do the former pirates, who now can enjoy a life free from the account, generous trading deals and keep their matelotages.
To this controversial but still legitimized society, Captain James Flint, a citizen who for various reasons have been away and have had an exemption from marriage/matelotage, returns after some time away. The law, how ever, states that now as he has returned, he has to get married. Captain Flint has no desire what so ever to enter a relationship, and is all but happy when he finds out an indoor spouse to be with curly hair will arrive from England.

Hey Gunnbones shippers, ya know how Billy is left on the island at the end of the show, but Ben Gunn is on the island in TI? Ben was supposedly on the island because he convinced a crew to stop by the island to look for the cache, and they marooned him there after not finding anything. However, throughout the series he doesn’t seem to show any interest in wealth or riches.  I was thinking maybe he somehow found out that Billy was possibly left on the island and convinced a crew later on to search for Flint’s treasure as a pretense for looking for Billy.

To whom it may concern,
I have taken your companion, James Flint, away from you in the night. He and I have business unfinished between us and I seek answers from him. If you wish to see him alive again you will wait for another note of this kind. Rest assured I mean you no harm; my only interest is in Flint and the wrongs he’s done me. We are nowhere near Savannah or on the mainland of the New World, so do not bother yourself searching.

GunnBones, and number six, please?
6. things you said under the stars and in the grass
I've never written this pairing and I took some liberties with the prompt. Please don’t send me hate if you don’t like it. ;) Also I’m assuming there was at least one quiet moment on the ship for them together. If not, well, humor me. No porn here, just cuteness.
Billy isn’t very good at flirting. He’s the first to admit it. It isn’t that he doesn’t want to be with someone, he’s just…particular about potential partners, and even when he does like someone, he doesn’t quite know how to express it and make the right things happen. He knows flirting in theory, obviously. He’s seen women drape themselves over the other men and giggle. He’s seen Silver grin crooked at the captain and bat his eyelashes. He’s seen other people flirt, and he knows it works for them.
But none of that is his style, really. So what exactly is Billy supposed to do now that he’s got his eye on someone?
He didn’t mean to fall for Ben, not at all. He actually panicked a little, at first, when he recognized the signs of it in himself - the sweaty palms, the pounding heart, that peculiar tightness in his throat when Ben smiles at him. For at least a few days he thought he was coming down with something, a fever that had been going through the men. But no.
When Ben smiles at him, Billy can’t help but smile back. When Ben talks to him, he gets lost in the lilt of his voice and the wide, clear blue of his eyes, and pretty often misses what exactly Ben is trying to tell him. It’s getting a little ridiculous, how often he has to ask Ben to repeat himself.
One night, though, when they’re all belowdecks playing cards and talking about anything and everything, Ben speaks up and Billy hears him loud and clear. No repetition needed.
“Where I’m from,” Ben begins at length, “there’s this hill, y’see. And if you like a lass, you take her up there when it’s dark out. You bring her flowers and you look at the stars together and she holds yer hand,” he says wistfully, then grins, an impish, boyish thing that makes Billy’s stomach flip. “And if she’s a naughty one she might just hold something else, too!” While the men laugh, Ben turns and looks right at Billy. He winks. “All I know is, if I were a girl and somebody wanted to court me, that’s what I’d like ‘em to do. Maybe I’d like it even as I am,” he muses, turning away from Billy to deal the next round of cards.
Message received.
The next day Billy makes his preparations, and the next night he steels his nerves and waits until Ben is alone, just after the sun has gone down and the stars have come out, shining bright overhead.
“Gunn,” he says to him, peering down at him in the darkness. “Come with me,” he says, hoping it sounds more like an invitation and less like a command. He’s– just bad at flirting. Regardless, Ben follows him, and he leads him to a secluded little corner on the deck where he’s piled up some rough, wooly green blankets he found. They don’t smell too good, but he hopes Ben won’t mind.
“What’s all this?” Ben asks, tipping his head back to smile beguilingly up at Billy.
“Stars,” Billy says, pointing up at the sky. “Hill,” he says, indicating the mound of green blankets with a sweep of his arm. “And I can’t bring you flowers ‘cause we’re at sea, but,” he says and digs in his pocket, retrieving a handful of pieces of smooth sea glass he’s been quietly collecting for years, waiting for just such an occasion (even if he didn’t know it at the time). He holds them out to Ben, who accepts them in silence, examining and admiring them.
“So you’re courting me, then?” Ben asks hopefully after a moment as he tucks the sea glass carefully into his pocket.
“Trying to,” Billy says, and presses his lips together in a thin line, feeling awkward and exposed, hoping that at least if Ben rejects him he’ll be nice about it. “Is it…working?”
Ben doesn’t reply, just backs Billy slowly toward the pile of green blankets and then pushes him down into it. He follows him down, clambering on top of him with a huge smile on his face. Distantly Billy hears one of the other men picking out something flourishing and romantic on a guitar, and he didn’t plan that part of this, but it’s fucking perfect and he sort of wishes he had.
They look into each other’s eyes for a long moment, both breathing fast and shivering in anticipation, before Ben mutters something that sounds like ‘fuckssakes’ and kisses Billy soundly. He’s got one hand cupping his jaw and the fingers of the other curling in the front of Billy’s shirt, and his eager body is pressed all up along Billy’s, emphasizing the great difference in their frames.
They don’t go much further than kissing that night, lying on the makeshift hill under the stars with Billy’s version of wildflowers in Ben’s pocket. Billy relaxes with Ben on top of him, filling his senses, his warm, rough hands roaming Billy’s body and his tongue in Billy’s mouth, the scent and taste of him blessedly overwhelming.
He may not be much for flirting in general, but at least he’s learned how to court the only one he really wants.

idk if billy/ben gunn is crack but i would like to request a fic of my tol and smol sons please (being battle partners would be great, but it's up to you) also i love you
billy/ben gunn is canon in my head and it hurts me but its also fun so here have them being great together
Ben can barely see anything happening in the battle. Not just because it was a moonless and cloudy night but because Billy, the giant of a man, was stood practically right in front of him the whole time.
He tried to fight, to protect his large friend and actually take part in the small skirmish but it was hard to get out of Billy’s shadow.
After, when the haze and the blood were gone, Ben was frowning.
“What’s with the look?” Billy asked quietly, not wanting to disturb their sleeping brothers.
Ben huffed, rolled his eyes and bumped their shoulders together. “You did it again, you know. Standing in front of me.”
The taller man blushed, ducked his head, and scuffed the heel of his boot on the floor. “Sorry…”
“I like that you worry about me,” Ben quickly added, “it’s sweet and it’s kind. No one worried about me before- well, before you came along. It’s nice, being looked after…” He leaned against Billy and let the man put an arm around him, drawing him closer.
No one stirred, no one left awake batted an eyelid at the two men leaning on one another on the cot in the corner. Billy pressed a soft kiss to the top of Ben’s head and breathed in deeply. Ben felt how the bigger man shivered, the tension in his body after the fight leaving him as he took comfort in Ben’s presence.
“I’d go mad if you got hurt,” Billy said after a moment.
They’d talked about it before, when Ben had first noticed his friend’s penchant for standing between Ben and anything that might hurt him. It was that conversation that lead to their first kiss; a frantic thing that had made Ben all to aware of how big Billy was, how strong and how gentle at the same time.
He put a hand on Billy’s thigh and squeezed. “I’m stronger than I look. Besides, don’t you think I’d go mad if you got hurt trying to protect me?”
Billy snorted a laugh and nodded. He nudged Ben’s jaw with his nose, silently asking for a kiss and Ben was more than happy to oblige. Their lips moved together slowly, leisurely, as though they had all the time in the world. In a way, they did. Ben wasn’t planning on leaving any time soon and he knew Billy was with him for as long as they had.
He lay down later with Billy at his back, a large arm over his middle bringing him close to Billy’s front and keeping him safe there. Billy snored lightly in his sleep and Ben fell asleep to the sound of his low breathing, to the steady thump of Billy’s heartbeat at his back.
