HGBF 1/144 Shin Burning Gundam

I saw this kit for pretty cheap online, and decided to pick it up just for fun, as the colours looked pretty cool. I'm really glad I did, as it was a super fun build.

The kit has really good color separation, with only a few detail stickers. I was a little disappointed with the sword, however, which had no color separation at all and needed to be painted.

The kit more than makes up for it with in terms of poseability. The joints are super flexible yet stiff enough to hold each limb up by itself, which is impressive given the use of polycaps. The kit also comes with 4 different pre-posed hands for each arm, and a really cool variety of flame effect pieces, including one for the sword and a few for the wings.

I've never watched any of Gundam Build Fighters, and probably won't, but the kit design and build experience definitely makes me want to pick up a few more of the HGBF line of gunpla.

I was talking to @the-man-of-many-fandoms the other day about the stat pentagon featured within Build Fighters Try- Surprisingly they are a fairly realistic depiction of how model building is generally approached. So just for fun, here’s how we interpreted these-

The stats listed on it are Adhesion Intensity, Joint Motion, Paint Work, Special Process, Reflected World, and Total Intensity.

Some of the more obvious ones are how Adhesion is clearly a nod to how things are glued/cemented/etc, while Joint Motion relates to its articulation-

Paint Work probably has to do with any kind of fancy coating, or how well it’s painted, and all that jazz- Comparatively, Reflected World is no doubt a stat for people who enjoy weathering/realism, etc-

“Special Process”, however, is likely how the kit itself has been modded, if it’s got multiple kits going into it, it’s use of external bits, and so on-

And finally, we came to the conclusion that “Total Intensity” is really just bonus points awarded for doing a good job, putting in more effort, etc, and generally just here to encourage craftsmanship, creativity, and so on.

I’ve been doing this thing on the bird website where i post a mecha 50x50 pixel art every day until the next Super Robot Wars game’s announcement as both a fun way to pass the time until we get it, and as an excuse to practice my pixel art skills.
