First part of a weathering tutorial in collaboration with online model shop Mechawarehouse. I hope this helps some folks out and if you wanna see more stuff like this lemme know and check me out on IG @ rokkupla.
RG Wing Zero EW (Endless Waltz Ver.) is finally complete!!! This was a really fun kit to put together. Unlike the last two RGs I built, the Zaku II and Exia, this one was relatively quick to put together, without very many small parts or complex panel details. This was the first kit where I was able to identify a lot of the complaints about early RG kits. Despite reinforcement with PVA glue, the joints on the pre-built frame were still a little floppy.
A lot of really cool details are achieved with minimal parts usage. Although I didn't get photos, the shoulders pop up to reveal large vulcan cannons, and the chest pops forward a little to imply a cockpit opening.
The wings are easily the most iconic part of this kit, and while the feathers are quite tricky to put in place, they have a really nice effect and look great when posing. My only complaint is that the backpack is pretty loosely attached, and the weight of the wings will either make the model tip backwards or cause the wings to fall off. I got around this by either using the lower wings to prop up the kit like a bipod, or tilting the wings forward to re-distribute as much weight as possible.
Despite this limitation I was still able to get some really cool photos.
I replaced the beam saber effects from this kit with the UV reactive ones from my Witch From Mercury kits to get a cool glowing effect.
This kit also comes with the twin Wing Zero Buster rifle, which can actually split apart into its dual wield mode or clip together into a big double cannon. The barrels are compatible with beam effect parts as well!
Overall, while this kit is starting to show its age, it was a pretty fun build and able to achieve a lot of the poses from the anime. Definitely recommend to any Wing or Endless Waltz fans!!
RG 1/144 Celestial Being Mobile Suit GN-001 "Gundam Exia"
Another Real Grade!!! I've been working on this one for quite some time, and applied a lot of new techniques when weathering it. One which i found pretty cool was using a lead pencil over raised edges to add paint chipping and wear - I found this gives a really really cool effect.
Like a lot of older RGs, the Exia has a pre-built inner frame, which can become a little loose with manipulation. Like my RG Zaku II, I tried to stiffen it with PVA glue, however, I still feel like the shoulders and hips are a little weak.
In terms of build quality, this kit is a much better build than the Zaku. The panels sit a lot more securely, and the small little details really pop and look amazing. The colour separation is excellent, although there are a lot of very small parts that can be difficult to deal with.
The kit has a lot of really cool gimmicks, including the deployment of the beam daggers on its back skirt, the GN drive being able to open and close, and holographic stickers over the exposed GN particle conduits.
The kit has great articulation and can hold some pretty impressive poses, which is good because Exia is animated in a very fluid style. The articulation helps match some of the on-screen poses.
Overall, the RG Exia is a great kit and a really enjoyable build with plenty of fun gimmicks and details that any 00 Gundam fan will enjoy. Despite issues with older RGs this one definitely holds up.
dont forget the offbrand McDonald's that Char goes to in Zeta Gundam
One of my favorite things about UC Gundam is that it is genuinely extremely weird.
Like, mecha as a genre is already a hard sell to people who aren't already into it or things like it. Gundam as a franchise is even more of a hard sell because it has a 45 year reputation of being a series for model building grognards. And as the final nail in the coffin, the original show being from 1979 has killed any desire to watch it in many, many people that I have recommended it to.
But if you actually get past all the hurdles and watch it, you have a show about a guy in a stupid helmet who is heavily implied to be fucking his twink boyfriend (who he kills), who then promptly develops a homoerotic rivalry with another guy before changing his name to Four Vaginas in the sequel. And he's not even the main character.
True believers will tell you it's peak fiction. And that's me. I'm a true believer.
in the UC timeline they attempt to drop a colony on earth 7 separate times. This action is made a war crime after the first one and then they are successful 3 more times afterwards

wish there were more transfem people at the social gunpla meet at my uni... guess I will have to do it myself
old man comes up to gunpla night with his wife and says our models are so cool and we remind him of himself when he was young
we are all visibly transfem, most have painted nails and are wearing makeup, we have been cracking tranny sex and castration jokes all night
what happened in his youth...
Anyway his wife took pics of the table (made sure to tell her to avoid getting our faces and she complied) and they both told us how happy they were to see young people having so much fun building models in public (we were at a local pub)
all in all a vaguely tense but very funny interaction
Sending this as an ask cause i dont wanna fill that person's reblogs but from what I can tell with USAG is that their inventory rotates pretty frequently and old kits get put up for pre-order because that's what they're stocking next
yeah i checked reviews and it looks like people have gotten it quite recently, but unfortunately they don't ship to australia 😔. I think that's where I was having issues with last time i checked, there are just no stores selling it over here.
is this in stock? when I was looking online, it looked like everything was on some form of perpetual backorder
edit: nevermind they don't ship to me :(
the Nobell Gundam was limited release and i haven't been able to find it in stock anywhere, only via resellers at insanely inflated prices. Just get a Lfrith or Aerial those are pretty trans
get in the estrogen gundam
