Early in the film, Peter tells Gamora about how Gamora wants to have a family and that it’s not the Ravagers but the Guardians. Then there are a couple of hugs between Guardians that Gamora isn’t a part of because she isn’t a part of their family right now. When Peter and Groot hug Rocket after he’s revived. Then later when everyone hugs Peter after he almost dies. Gamora even walks away during that hug because she doesn’t feel like part of that family yet and let’s them have their moment. But Gamora finally gets to be the center of her own group hug when she reunites with the Ravagers. Peter was wrong. She’s happy and complete with the family that she’s found since finding herself displaced out of time. I believe that eventually Gamora will find her way back to becoming family with the original Guardians again. But for right now she’s happy and where she wants to be. It’s just a neat parallel that I noticed.

One of the parts where I cried the most watching Guardians 3 was when Nebula broke down upon hearing that Rocket was ok. Like it almost seemed out of character until you remember that Rocket and Nebula were the only surviving Guardians after the Blip. They were alone together for five years; they share a unique bond - they’re probs besties. Nebula being so incredibly relieved that Rocket - the one thing that would have been her anchor and her only family for five whole years - was alive absolutely TORE ME TO PIECES!!!

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 SPOILERS

the way that guardians vol 3 completely broke me and had me crying like 10 times i kid you not, and obviously it was because there was some really heart wrenching stuff in there but it was also because there is something so so sooo bittersweet about ‘white void’ scenes before a character dies and the way that rocket with tears in his eyes asks if he can join lylla, floor, and teefs in the afterlife to watch the sky together forever like he’s scared they’ll say no or that he may be being tricked and the option could be taken away from him, but of course lylla says yes and the relief and comfort that rocket probably feels in that moment is so emotional to me, his first found family, the ones that helped him find his name, who he shared his dreams of the sky with, they didn’t hold what happened to them against rocket, they still love him and will always love him
(im totally definitely not still fragile about this movie and don’t tear up when i think about it haha what are you talking about)

people always talk about whether or not a movie made the stakes feel high, but i never fully got it until guardians of the galaxy vol3. like they really did a good job making this movie feel dangerous. with other movies and shows, if it seems like something bad or crazy is about to happen, i’m always like “oh the writers wouldn’t do that, the characters are gonna find a way out” and then they do. but with guardians of the galaxy vol.3, all this insanely horrible stuff happened so every scene that felt dangerous was really sold for me. i thought “omg they’re really about to kill off rocket” and then “omg they’re really about to kill off quill” and literally when rocket was holding those baby raccoons i seriously thought for a second that the high evolutionary was gonna come in with a gun and just fucking blow them all away.

GUARDIANS VOL. 3 SPOILERS UNDER CUT
everything about this movie was sad but I think the absolute worst part to think about is when they're all watching the recording of Rocket being tortured and Nebula says 'Thanos never did that to me' and it pans to everyone crying like pls I was sobbing
also, here's my thoughts so I can just have it out of my head
Everyone acted their asses off. Mantis' cries when someone was dying? Rocket's screams as Floor repeated their names until she died? Quill's heart wrenching sob when Rocket flatlined? I don't want to talk about what Rocket was doing thru during that I'm not ready Zoe really made me not like Gamora, who used to be my second favorite Guardian. Every moment of that movie I was feeling emotions to the fullest
I loved the f-bomb I thought it was hilarious but 1) I wish they wouldn't have spoiled it with the clip before the movie came out and 2) I wish they had given it to Rocket to say 'I'm a fuckin' Guardian of the Galaxy' bc that would have been beautiful
I'm almost upset Quill didn't die out there, because it was almost poetic since that's the way Yondu died. I understand why he didn't and seeing as he's apparently returning they can't kill him but I thought it would have been beautiful
so so so SO glad Gamora and Quill didn't get back together. She's a different person and I'm glad they realized that and didn't force a love story between two characters who no longer had chemistry
I'm not ready to talk about Rocket's backstory. I cried so hard I couldn't breathe. It's all I think about
This is one of if not my new fav MCU movie. I haven't felt this way about a movie in so long

CAREFUL, THIS POST CONTAINS SPOILERS FOR GO3!!!
The High Evolutionary wouldn't have found anything in Rockets brain.
While I am no biology expert, I don't believe the reason Rocket was able to solve the issue is because of a biological difference. Certainly, Rocket was unusually smart, but nothing fundamentally groundbreaking would have been found that unlocked a guaranteed new level of intelligence. Or anything prior unknown to help create the "perfect society".
The high evolutionary was unable to solve the issue because he lacked patience and intelligence. Or rather, didn't possess enough. These Qualities are simply greater in Rocket, who displayed them from the very start: by gathering materials bit by bit to make the prisoncard. The creation outsmarted its creator. The being deemed less was superior in the area most important to the "better lifeform". And as simple as that sounds, it is the main reason, not some (neuro-) biological mutation or any other peculiarity in Rockets brain.
You could also argue that Rocket was able to do so because he had true ambition: to save his friends and himself from a horrendous situation. The high evolutionaries source was not one of need or compassion but one of hatred and egoism.
Ultimately, Rocket disproved the self-imposed superiority of the high evolutionary without meaning to. He has shaken up the whole "cause" and tragically pays a high price for it. Rocket also unintentionally makes a point by "reducing" the high evolutionary to being disfigured himself, no better than the "vile creatures" he creates.

Major Spoiler Triggers for GOG3
Hey just wanted to give a heads up that Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 has a lot of scenes with intense animal abuse in them. As in, well over half the movie is depicting animal abuse, and there are also a few scenes with child abuse in them. No one gave me a heads up about it beyond that this movie was ‘darker’ than the first two, and I just wanted to warn others so they could be prepared. If it was a fic on ao3 I would have used the tags ‘graphic depictions of animal abuse’ ‘child abuse’ and ‘graphic depictions of violence’.
