This week’s shark is the Great Hammerhead. This GREAT guy can get up to a max of 20 ft in length-making him the largest of the hammerheads and among the largest sharks! He has an incredibly long sickle-like dorsal fin and he loves to swallow sting rays whole. #greathammerheadshark #greathammerhead #sketch #shark #pencil https://www.instagram.com/p/BsqvK8DgB75/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=zr9x1dd3d1if

Inktober 2017 | Day 29 - Syphyrna mokarran - - "The great hammerhead shark is a powerful, active predator which is found both inshore and in deep waters, in tropical, subtropical and temperate seas. The positioning of its eyes gives this fish a 360 degree view in the vertical plane, letting it spot and track prey both above and below its current position with great accuracy. Overfishing is the chief threat to these fascinating sharks, and is driven mostly by Asian demand for shark fin soup. Many hammerheads also die as accidental bycatch in large commercial fishing nets in the Atlantic, where the hammerhead is seldom taken for its fins. Massive illegal fishing of hammerheads occurs in the Indian Ocean and near Africa." - OEW - - Become aware of the problem and make a change at ourendangeredworld.com (OEW) - - - - - - - - #myart #original #art #inktober2017 #inktober #inktober17 #ink #traditional #traditionalart #syphyrnamokarran #hammerheadshark #greathammerheadshark #sharks #endangeredspecies #endangered #nature #animals #environment #important #motheearth #finning #illegalfishing #overfishing #wildlife #oceanlife #marinelife #marinecreatures #fish
