peace returned to the valley
In the 10 years of his life after the fall of advent, of crystal palace, he chose a life of seclusion on Altar, committing his life to the maintenance of the Divine Arbit. Unwillingly, he is named its excerpt and unwillingly, amasses followers that both contribute to his task and bring their own colors with them. But he continues to do the work himself. Out of complete dedication to it, out of fear of what it might become without him.
the rivers flowed clear and blue
After a decade of uneasy stability, as stable as one could be with the unpredictability of Arbit, Echo comes back into his life. Older, wiser, its easy to fall back into their orbit. He is still faithful to his task and his penance and his fear, but he allows himself something outside of it again. Builds a life with them around again. They have a good, long, time together. It's not always in perfect harmony, conflict here or there, but overall had both made a place in their lives dedicated to each other.

And then he is alone again. Had he been worthy of them, had he lived a life worthy of their love? Has he given enough back to the world, as much as he had taken once? Something must be done. He must do more, somehow. He continues to see to Arbit until his end but he has others watching over it now too. And for years, now. He finally relinquishes the hold he has on the last of his fears, to allow himself another purpose. He resumes his life as a hermit and devotes his life to his final work.
magnificent light
Though he works alone, he still keeps an ear out to the world. This work is for the people, after all. On the news he hears about the passing of the great Gig Kephart. Beloved by the public and much accomplished even after saving the mirage, the radio announces a public memorial to be held for him. It has been years since Grand has seen or spoken to him. Had some sort of reconciliation a few years before that. He attends the memorial. This is the last thing Grand does for himself before he returns to his work for the world.
