Gabe had spent the better part of the past seventy years living in New York. He'd made a name for himself there. He had met his husband Berto in New York. This bumbling, chaotic artist who had charmed Gabe nearly right away. They'd lived there together, happy. Both of them.
Until their wedding. Because for their wedding, Berto's entire family came to visit and spending time with all of them together had made Berto realize just how much he missed his family. Wolves were pack-animals, family meant the world to them. The Allegros came from a little town in Italy and both their children had moved to the US after graduation. While he'd focused on his art degree, she had fallen in love, gotten married and started a family. But Berto’s art had brought him to New York, where he had then met and fallen in love with Gabe.
Last time they'd seen Julietta, she had been pregnant with her second child. When Julietta and her family had come to celebrate the engagement with Gabe and Berto, there was a toddler, already crawling around and babbling cutely.
It became apparent to Gabe that Berto would not remain happy in New York, even if he had Gabe. Berto was a family man and his family had just gained a tiny, vulnerable member and Gabe knew it would break something in Berto if he would only be a fun summer vacation uncle.
So while Berto had been distracted by the wedding planning, which he completely threw himself into to a degree that Gabe found endearing and concerning at the same time, Gabe reached out for a real estate agent in San Francisco, to buy the perfect wedding gift for his beloved.
“Tessa Adam, it's a pleasure to meet you, Mister Kim.”
The first thing Gabe noticed about the tall blonde was her heterochromia. Her right eye was green and her left eye was ice-blue. Stunning. While the name Adam didn't ring a bell, Gabe found himself reluctantly cautious around the gorgeous blonde with heterochromia. Because he was old and he had run into many generations of Niun witches now; an old and powerful witch family known for the heterochromia passed down through generations. While not every person with heterochromia was part of that family, he knew caution was safer. So he offered his most innocent and charming smile as he reached out for Tessa's hand to shake it.
“I have a very specific taste, Mrs. Adam. It has to be spacious, luxurious, with privacy.”
“I think I have just the right place for you.”
/break\
Mrs. Adam truly had found the perfect place for him. A Victorian style mansion with stained glass windows, big, with a big yard where Berto and his niece would be able to play a lot, beautiful interior design, no prying neighbors. And Berto fell in love with it too when he'd met it.
It was perfect. Gabe thought he had done the right thing, given his love what Berto also wanted – to be near his older sister and her family, to be able to spend time with them.
“I would push you in front of a train if murder wasn't illegal!”
Gabe jerked at the booming voice of his husband echoing through the beautiful mansion. He slowly put his cup of blood down to turn and watch Berto stomp into the kitchen, a glare on his face.
“Oh, that is so mature, fratellino!” Julietta's voice was a high-pitched screech as she came storming in after Berto. “You're so childish, you are thirty-five years old, grow up!”
“You're thirty-five years old, grow up,” Berto echoed in a mocking voice.
And then it just turned into a string of Italian curse words being thrown around and Gabe carefully ducked out. Gabriel Kim had been an only child, he'd never had siblings. So he had let himself lead to believe that Berto and Julietta were one heart and soul. He had not anticipated the screaming matches and incredibly childish fights between them. At all.

Weird question but thoughts on Tessa’s new/old nose? She’s gorgeous no matter what and I’ve no idea if she had it re-done by choice or necessity but I love that she went with a look more like her old nose 😍
A few years back, I was asked about Tessa’s nose, and this is what I had to say at the time. Really, my answer hasn’t changed much in meaning - hopefully she’s happy, and it’s not really our business (as in, I know we all speculate, but we are not owed her talking about it). I would like to think that, regardless of her reasons then or now, she is very comfortable and confident in her choices.
