Fascinated with this imaginary little man. He inspired me to cook a surf & turf dinner for my partner and I. This is the first manga I physically bought in years and it radiates intense wholesome post-redemption arc energy. I will be obsessed with it for at least the next few days.

The people that ruined opm season 2 also ruined the gokushofudou anime. A tear for the fallen.

Finally, someone cool enough to ask about my take on surf & turf! I’d just burned through like four volumes of the manga within like three days and felt Culinary Inspiration. The lamb chops were seasoned simply with coarse kosher salt and freshly cracked black pepper, seared in a smoking hot cast iron and cooked to a perfect medium. I sat those aside to rest under aluminum foil and pan roasted the potatoes, peppers, and onions in the same pan to take advantage of the runoff fat (the potatoes are a frozen mixed bag from Trader Joes but by golly do they take well to some spices, namely garlic and thyme). The salmon (highlight of the dish imo) is a teriyaki salmon, also seared in cast iron, but the teriyaki sauce is home made by mixing two parts sake, two parts mirin, two parts soy sauce, and one part brown sugar. Poured that over the salmon once the meat was seared and the skin was crispy and just kept spooning it over the fillet until the alcohol cooked off and the sauce thickened. It’s the surf & turf concept, but with a bit of a cultural fusion of Japanese and North African. Simple but very good, I was thrilled with it. Bonus points is it took surprisingly little time and just two pans, and I got it finished and plated just as my partner walked in from their job! And again, I blame the Immortal Tatsu for the gumption to do it.
