David “V” Lozano: my canon V, a born-and-bred Heywood brawler who never really cared about being famous but god Jackie made it sound so good. He doesn’t think he can make a difference and he doesn’t really try to. It’s all about survival, and corps can wipe you out in the blink of an eye. He would’ve minded his damn business after the heist if it hadn’t been for Johnny.

Viggo “Gogo” Day: a Static of the Kessler clan along with their three brothers and a sister. They’re David’s best friend, a bright and cheerful foil to his taciturn toughness. The city hasn’t beaten the optimism out of them yet, and they have a lot of friends in surprising places who’d like to keep it that way.

Sanctuary Zelenko: Medtech washout, ex-Scav, currently a ripperdoc in Northside. They’re eccentric, they’re enigmatic, they’re downright creepy sometimes. Their friends tell people they’re harmless, but no one knows for sure. Best not to find out.

Brother Calloway: a statuesque netrunner that’s earned herself a spot in the Afterlife’s back booths. She’s highly focused and more than a little intimidating when she’s working, but in her personal life she tends to be quite demure in contrast.

Omen: a hard-boiled techie from Pacifica. He generally prefers machines to people, but his patience can be bought with salty snacks, and rumor has it that he's got a soft spot for ex-gang members and new techies.

Harvey Vignaud: London-born and never figured he’d do anything else but work for Arasaka like his parents. And he did, for a while, netrunning his way up the corpo ladder and earning himself a reputation as someone you never want to meet out there in the net. Then he quit and became a BD editor instead. There’s not much more to it - he’s fickle, and he’s got the skills to do whatever he wants and not be bothered about it. He’s got the air of someone standing comfortably on that thin line between enigmatic and completely detached from reality.

Heiress Sharp: Seasoned merc and 6th Street royalty - her grandfather was Santo Domingo’s premier fixer in the 2020s and her mother was a founding member of the Street. She used to be a high school teacher, but she got sick of corpos headhunting her students. Now she takes young and dumb mercs under her wing and teaches them a thing or two about survival before the city can eat them alive.

Joey Armas: Scav who grew up homeless in Pacifica. His brother was killed by some trust fund kid testing out their new combat-grade implants--that’s probably what set him down the path that led to the cyberware and organ black market.

Hunter Ward: the eldest daughter of Gogo and River. She’s a rainbow baby and her parents are protective of her, and she’s fine with that. Probably why she tends to be shy and doesn’t go out much without her family. Put her on a motorcycle, though, and she lights up like Christmas.

the St. Martin family: four siblings from the Kessler nomad clan who settled on the outskirts of Night City so that Augie could attend his mandatory therapy after the Unification War drove him to cyberpsychosis. They own and operate a rest stop just outside the city.

Auguste (Augie) & Noel are identical twins and the eldest of the four. They served in the Unification War: Noel in communications, Augie as a panzerboy. Augie is registered as a cyberpsycho in Night City, and doing well in therapy, but remains shy and reclusive. Noel is highly protective of him, and almost as distrustful of any cyberware.

Léonide (Leo) is the middle child, occasionally referred to as Gogo's twin because they were born only a few months apart and Leo's mother nursed Gogo after their mother died in childbirth. Leo suffers from the classic middle child syndrome and was a little too eager to break away from the family when they settled in Night City. Like Gogo, he loves the lights and excitement of Night City, but unlike Gogo, he gravitates to the darker side - and his abrasive personality doesn't earn him many favors. His dream is to be a rocker, but in the meantime he takes grunt jobs as a merc and makes a lot of people mad.

Marceline (Molly) is the youngest St. Martin. She feels torn between Night City and her family - she wants to live it up as a rocker in the glitz and glamour of the city, but she also feels a responsibility to stay with Noel and Augie on the outskirts because she knows Noel is resentful of Leo and Gogo for choosing to live in the city.

Looking back, did you write more fic than you thought you would this year, less, or about what you’d expected? Somehow I topped my word count from last year by 10k, which I was not expecting. That said, this year was right about average.

What’s your own favorite story of the year? God this is a hard question this year because I wrote a lot of fics I really really love. For one single fic I'll go with Nova, Baby, because I love the story and I've got a lot of lovely feelings about it.

Did you complete your writing goals from last year? The Goal: I want to complete a few large multichapter fics, which will probably mean my one-shot production goes down. I completed one long mulitchap, and then a few mid-length (~20k) multichaps. I think I wrote more of those than I have any other year. Surprisingly, my one-shot production wasn't super significantly decreased.

Do you have any writing goals for the New Year? Ok, I gotta come up with something. My goal is to have a similar mix of fics as least year, and also to write my first collaboration with @cricketnationrise, which will be a long multichap.

Did you take any writing risks this year? Wrote on a topic outside my wheelhouse (therapy 😬) and also posted a fic in a fandom where there weren't a lot of fics in similar genres (action/spies). Now that's no longer true, but at the time it was really freaking nerve-wracking.

Story of mine most under-appreciated by the universe, in my opinion: Every fic I write in a fandom that's not RWRB? 😅 It's hard to complain too much, especially considering what happened to my numbers this year.

Most fun story to write: All the Old Showstoppers, Will You Brie Mine?, You're the Perfect Gift for Me. Silly RWRB boys being silly, basically.

Biggest disappointment: Again, I feel like it's hard to complain when I have a fic that's closing in on 4k kudos. The goalposts keep moving, don't they, though? I still live in fear of pouring my heart into a multichap and having what will count as "lukewarm" reception, when before this year I didn't have a single fic above 1k kudos.

Biggest surprise: Most definitely Please Don't Let Me Be So Understood. Like I figured it would do pretty well (I hoped, since I put so much into it), but holy shit?? I still can't really believe it's on page 2 of the tag by kudos? And honestly also Always Where I Need To Be, this little one-shot about David stealing glasses.

If you’ll permit me a minute to be cliche: this photo would not have been possible without you. When I started university in August 2019, the sum of all my author-y potential measured up to:

No finished manuscripts

A pipe dream of ever publishing my work

A scatterbrained outline of The Laoche Chronicles

Forty-four phone notes full of half-witted ideas

A grand total of 3 followers on my brand-new tumblr account

At the time, I had no grand plans of marketing my work, though I knew it would be necessary if I ever wanted an audience. I chose a degree in chemical engineering because I knew my baby platform and half finished stories weren’t going to cut it as a career in their current state as an 18-year-old, and I needed to have a day job if I wanted to pursue my end dream of self publishing. I was just hoping to survive my first year of engineering school, pass my weed-out classes, and hopefully make some new friends. That fall semester passed with sporadic progress on my book, and halfhearted attempts at breaking into the writeblr community, until I decided to try my hand at Inktober and made my first few acquaintances: @siarven and @abalonetea, who have both featured on this blog since then. It was also at this point, sometime during a Calculus III lecture, that I invented my pen name:

All was going well, and I was pleased with my incremental progress until the world ended.

The less said about the pandemic, the better. Writeblr truly kept me sane through working full-time jobs and taking 18 credit hours during the semester. When I was truly close to dropping out of school, I kept going, knowing I had these online friends to cheer me up after brutal exams and long nights of studying. The tag games and community filled the dearth of interaction left by quarantine and an insane schedule. During my summer internship in 2020, I finally had the time to finish the first draft of Storge and the confidence in myself to start a website. Rereading my first post is a surreal experience, in part because I still see myself as a little kid as hiding under the blankets with a flashlight, notebook, and pen, thinking “I wanna write a book!”

I woke up the next day crying to the sheer volume of kind messages congratulating me on meeting this milestone. Instead of feeling burnt out after reaching such a lofty goal, this gave me all the more energy to keep working. Since then, I’ve been so blessed to grow this community and this website. It’s incredible to see how far I’ve come, now being able to claim:

A finished manuscript of Storge

A 3rd draft of Runaways after going through 2 rounds of Beta Readers

8 short stories and an audio drama

An active mailing list

Over 1000 followers on tumblr, but more importantly, a thriving community of writers who support each other’s releases through ARCs, leaving reviews, enthusiastic questions, and a welcoming space for new writers to share their craft.

140 posts on my website and regular readers who care about my ramblings ❤

Now I’m on my way to my new job – I’ll be doing research and development in my chosen field with a team I really like, and the freedom to listen to books while I’m in the lab. This next month will still be a hiatus for blog posts and new writing as I pack up my life for a cross-states move, but I’m beyond excited to enter change. My hope is that I can start saving for editing costs and devote more time to my craft thanks to a 9-5 schedule and NO!!! HOMEWORK!!!!!!!!! Really, I cannot say enough how thrilled I am to never have to take another exam ever again, thank GOD. With a bit of luck and no small amount of grace, I hope I can publish and share my stories with you sooner rather than later.

Thank you for all the support and camaraderie these past years. In a way, I owe this diploma to you as much as to my classmates and professors. The night before graduation, I said to my friends, “I’ve been waiting for tomorrow for eight years.” Now I’m living in the future, and I can’t wait to write the next chapter.

The 4th Majsasaurus Year 💖

And so yet another year in fandom has passed. I always write these on the day of my first fanfic’s upload date, which is 22nd of September, and it’s a small tradition to write it, even if this year it was uploaded on the 23rd. My bad, hehe.

In 2020 I wrote my Majsasaurus Year, in 2021 my 2nd Majsasaurus Year and last year my 3rd Majsasaurus Year. This fourth year has been significantly quieter than my last years, especially the firsts, which is also visible on my AO3 page with fewer fics (in numbers) uploaded and no fanarts uploaded.

Still, let’s take a look at what my fourth year as a certified ShikaTema + Shikajin nerd has been up to!

I ended my 3rd Year discussion with presenting my then brand-new long fic Labyrinth of Confusion. At the time of that discussion only one chapter of the Inojin-centric Crime and Punishment vibey-fic had been uploaded, the first one, and I was excited for what the fic would turn out to be, because this fic was the most pantser like long fic I’ve ever written. I had no clue of anything at any given moment, but damn if I didn’t manage to make the pieces fall perfectly together by the end. LoC ended up being 92k words long and writing it from the very beginning to end took me a bit more than five months. You might think it sounds like a rather long time period for Majsasaurus Bex, and if you did, you are right. I did think so too.

In the middle of the process of writing LoC I went through a stressful time which involved direct triggers to my very bad decline into depression in 2021. This time I managed to work with the triggers opposed to the first time it happened and my wellbeing didn’t spiral down, but it meant a much slower process of writing overall. I moved houses too, and I swear to god, there is nothing more creative-killing than moving your home. It’s stressful, time consuming and expensive and this move involved a lot of planning for the private economy in times such as these. This is the reason I have not made a single artwork since August 2022; the move was heavy on my psyche, and everything involved with economy – and besides that my subscription for the software ran out and lifting the pen became so hard.

This also meant LoC turned into a slow process.

I wrote in my 3rd Year Discussion this: “I sincerely hope I will look back to this fic with love, compared to whatever I felt after Hope in the Universe. I am lowkey excited. Hopefully my readers will also love it.” The other fic referred to was one I wrote during 2021 when I went through the same triggers as now and I hoped so much to not feel bad. And I didn’t feel as bad, finally.

Do I look back at LoC with love? Yes, I do. The final chapter of LoC was published the 1st of February in 2023 after the hard labour of love to build up this mystery and worldbuilding heavy psychological thriller. I am so, so proud of how it turned out, especially given that I tried out a new writing style which I think hit the nail on the head and then drove that nail right into my readers’ hearts.

My absolute bestest Varya drew me a fic cover for LoC, including three artworks here, here and here. Thank you for your enthusiasm.

During the time of uploading LoC, something magical happened. I received my InoShikaCho zine I had worked on in its physical form and to just leaf through it and see my words printed in it and see the artwork of characters I love an unhealthy amount of was amazing. After LoC was finished, and the zine started wrapping up the long process, I uploaded my fic for it onto AO3 for everyone to enjoy.

The fic in question is Stick, Poke, Pierce! which is a funky, funny little piece of baby gen InoShikaCho being young menaces. I wrote that fic back in 2021 and you can read about the process in the Majsasaurus discussion for 2021, and it was a joy to get back to a fic one hadn’t touched in such a long time, this time with accompanying art from the artists of the zine. This cute snappy one shot received surprisingly little attention on AO3, but oh well, it IS cute, and I think people can enjoy cute stuff too sometimes.

I also wrote in my 3rd Year review that I “maybe” have a third chapter to my Temari x Sakura fic as part of my bi-yearly wlw urgent need for this year, but in the end chose against it. In February I started writing on an independent InoTemaSaku sexy threesome fic instead, but writing sexy things didn’t fit with my overall irl mood at that time and I dropped the fic. Did you hear it, Majsasaurus dropped a fic? She who completes e v e r y t h i n g ? I know, I know, I am shocked too, but luckily this was just a wip that went to sleep instead. Maybe I will revive it, because I do want to write more wlw-sex scenes because those are the best for me. Or maybe I will get an Ino x Temari fic out instead that I have an idea for. We don’t know yet.

The urge for wlw-content did not disappear with that part of my life though, as I immediately after deciding to drop the threesome fic started writing what I called WIAG, that was titled to When I am Gorgeous. The idea to WIAG had been in my head for a long while, ever since 2020 in fact, but sometimes you need to marinate your ideas properly before committing to writing them. Let’s not be hasty, and so on. WIAG is a historical au set in the 1930s, being about women who were deemed mad on poor criteria and sent to an asylum. I so enjoyed writing it, and it was so different compared to LoC – the plot heavy, buildup heaving and death heavy action and psychological thriller it was. To quote one of the lovely people who commented WIAG, it was like writing (/reading) a “water colour painting”, so despite the heavy theme, there were many moments in the writing that were surprisingly calm and relied heavily on nature.

I wrote the entire fic besides the final chapter and published the first chapter in April 2023. I even commissioned a fic cover for it by @mheerdraws which can be seen here. WIAG contained what I yearned for, a bit of wlw-action while still being a Shikatema fic. I was rather nervous over it – not for posting the cruel events I depicted in the fic, but for the romance in it, fearing monoshippers ShikaTema shippers to throw rocks at me, but no one did and even if they were monoshippers they loved if enough to give the scene and romance between Temari and Ino a chance, which made me so happy. This was also the likely reason the fic didn’t receive much traction; there was little spice between Shikamaru and Temari which is probably what a lot of people want when scouting for a Temari fic. I am very proud of this fic.

After WIAG I took a well-deserved break, an interesting one at that, since during the time period I wrote WIAG, a fic which dealt heavily with fertility and women’s freedom and right to have (or not have) children in a historical light, I became pregnant myself. The final chapter of WIAG was uploaded in June, when some of the pregnancy symptoms kicked in for real. The biggest symptom I had was tiredness and a lot of it, including naps every day, and I left the creative brain on pause for the entirety of June. I didn’t write a single word in June and didn’t feel bad for it either, which is rare for me.

My fandom life was quite on pause during the summer with me focusing a lot on myself and my irl needs while writing an original fiction work on the side. My OG fiction work was finished in September. In late July I started writing on a fic again, this time a once more, Shikajin my beloved-centric one shot. It was fun to focus on something short and silly after two very emotionally heavy works – also to show my readers that I still have a damn range, haha. I can do both fluffy and sweet, and the heavy angsty torture. The silly one shot going smut turned into what was in August uploaded on AO3 as Attractive. It was lovely to drabble into nothing but romantic fluff and smut without any specific plot. That fic also featured an OC little sister to Shikadai, and she was a blast to write.

One of the anti-highlights of the fandom year was definitely when the time skip designs were revealed. I saw Inojin's new hair style, and, I kid you not however I wish I exaggerated, cried during seven different occasions over the span of four days. I cried over his hair for fucks' sake, me, a grown-ass woman, hAHA. This is a testament on how snowed in I am on these next gen boys, and how close they are to my heart. I fucking love Shikadai and Inojin, way too much, hahaha. Now I have melted the idea of his hair and do not feel awful about it anymore, but I am ever so often sending bombastic side-eyes to Ikemoto.

In September, I decided it was time to tell the fandom world about my little baby and I started writing on my “projection fic”. I don’t often project while writing, so this was a fun exercise. It’s a fic about Temari expecting Shikadai and specifically the birth scene. I finally managed to finish the fic today and uploaded it immediately out of pressure for my 4th Year discussion, hehe. The projection fic became almost 7k words long – and is a wonderful mix of poetic descriptions and just raw depictions of pushing a living baby out of you with all the gore involved. It is called we hold galaxies.

And that was today.

That was an entire year in fandom for me. I have managed to distance myself from jealousy and frustration which I felt a lot last year and have felt more peace in myself and my presence than maybe usual. I gained new friends from a new server, but also lost a great amount of friends too. Now I have learned to let go of fandom friends instead of grieving them a long time, even if it still hurts when your friends give up on you. I also dived into a new fandom (though I am very quiet about it on the internet and have not mentioned this out loud), which is Bungo Stray Dogs. My best fandom friend @notquitejiraiya moved to my country this year, which was a wonderful gift.

I am sad I stopped drawing, that’s true. I am not happy about the little amount of different fics I wrote, but still, it was the right amount.

And for the 5th Majsasaurus Year? I truly hope I can get out a semi-long fic of Shikajin before January (I am aiming for 30k, canonverse) and after that my goal will be to re-edit and re-write To go down with the Sun, my first long fic of Shikajin, which also is one of my best fics of all time. I wrote it when my English wasn’t perfect, so the edit would be only on surface level with language and phrases rather than fixing major content, because there are no plot holes in the entire thing.

⭐Age: I feel like I'm 15 years old, I stopped counting at 19 and my friends say that I act like I'm 5 years old XD hahaha ... Nah! I just turned 23 years old this August n_n.

💔 Occupation: Being a universitary girl XD ... Yes! It's so fun! (sarcasm).

🩷 Some things that I love it: Read (I read all kinds of books and about my favorite ships on Ao3! 🤭), cook desserts, listen to music while I do other activities like my homework or when I read, Greek mythology (The love between us will never die! 💗).

⭐Saint Seiya (or Knights of the Zodiac). I found this beautiful serie when I was 7 years old. My favorite is the original serie, although I also like the Lost Canvas a lot and Episode G (because Aioria is the protagonist). Soul of Gold gives me mixed feelings. From Omega and Next Dimension, better don't ask me; my mind lives in denial. My favorite characters are the Golden Saints, especially Aioros and Aioria, being Aioria my super favorite.

Thanks to Saint Seiya I developed a great love for the stars 💫 and I have many scientific books on the subject, as well as books of myths and legends about the constellations ✨.

💥 I'm a Marvel Girl. I love those tormented superheroes and antiheroes. I basically grew up watching Marvel since Iron Man came out in 2008 and I immersed myself fully in the world of the comics, I have a lot of comics and books on my bookshelf 🤭. My favorites are: Iron Man ♥️, Captain America, Spider-Man, Loki, the X-Men, Black Widow and Scarlet Witch, in all their presentations and with all their charms and defects!.

🍿Series: Friends, Full House, The big bang theory, How I met your mother and How I met your father, Modern Family, Mom, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Angel... I love it K-Dramas like Goblin: The lonely and great God, Crash landing on you, Tale of the Nine Tailed 😋, I have also watched many animes like Sailor Moon, Ouran High School Host Club, Toradora, Code Geass, Inuyasha, Kaleido Star, Shaman King, Attack on Titan... it's a long list and I don't remember everything at this moment 🤔. Miraculous Ladybug (I know it's for kids, but ... there is Chat Noir 🖤).

🐉In my House of the Dragon era 🖤: Like many people, I was also terribly disappointed with the horrible ending of Game of Thrones, but I really loved Fire and Blood when I read it in 2020... so I decided to give the serie a chance when I saw the first trailer... and I don't regret it! 🥳. I liked Daemon and Rhaenyra so much in the book and absolutely loved them in the TV Show! (Matt and Emma are incredible! ❣️). Another character that I loved in the book and the one I always wanted to know more about was Jacaerys Velaryon and I must say that I am very pleased with the choice of Harry Collett 😍 (oh yeah baby! 🔥).

I really hope that the directors and writers do justice to this wonderful crown prince! 🥰, because for me he is already one of my favorite characters of all time! ❣️.

🎥 Favorite Movies: Troy 2004 (did I mention I'm a Greek mythology lover?), the Star Wars saga 💫 (1-6 only), The Great Gatsby, A Walk to Remember, Harry Potter 🪄 (books and movies), The Lord of the Rings trilogy and the Hobbit trilogy, The Hunger Games saga ❣️(books and movies), The Twilight saga 😊 (books and movies).

I love Studio Ghibli movies with all my heart 💗 since my dad bought me the movie of Kiki Delivery Service when I was a 6-year-old little girl.

I love everything Disney and Pixar does 💗😘. (think of the happiest things, It's the same as having wings! 🎶)

🎧 Music: I have a very varied taste in music, some would say strange 😅, but if I like the rhythm and lyrics of the song I will surely add it to my playlist (mainly I like rock), AC / DC, Queen, Guns N' Roses, Bon Jovi, Linkin Park, Evanescence, Within Temptation, Imagine Dragons, Beyoncé, Ed Sheeran, Lana del Rey, Taylor Swift and Katy Perry. I enjoy classical music too 🩷.

⭐ Something more about me: I am an inveterate dreamer and extremely perfectionist. I express myself better by writing than talking 😚.

I haven't drawn anything in almost 5 years and when I did I used to draw with traditional media (watercolor, charcoal, colored pencils, gouche and acrylic paints 🖌️).

But since October (from last year), when I saw Harry Collett as Prince Jacaerys, I felt a desire to draw that I hadn't felt in a long time ❣️.

Why these languages, you ask? Because Levi is canonically French, 'Levi' is a Hebrew name, my ethnicity is Chinese, and I go by a Japanese name <3

Renée is our first born, and she's Levi's favourite child (yes, he is playing favouritism here). Renée looks a lot like Levi, and in turn, she looks like the mini version of her paternal grandma Kuchel as well. Renée's temperament is very similar to Levi. She has fair skin, long black hair that's a little wavy, and light grey eyes. She has a mole on her right cheek like me.

Although she looks and behaves a lot like Levi, her hobbies and interests are similar to mine. Renée showed talent in dancing when she was young, and she picked up dancing and piano just like me. Charlotte is our baby girl, and she's the youngest of all the Ackerman juniors. Charlotte is active, outgoing, and friendly; the complete opposite of her older sister. Charlotte has light grey eyes and fair skin, but she looks more like me compared to Levi. Charlotte likes to keep her hair up in a ponytail, and she also has a mole on her right jaw like me.

Charlotte is very active and likes moving around. She is also really good with things that involve her hands, like arts and crafts, hairstyling, pottery/playing with clay, origami, and building toy models. However, she can be a little impatient, and cannot stay still for too long. Charlotte loves playing with Renée's hair because it's long and wavy. She loves to practise tying different braids and updos on her older sister. Charlotte also loves her Aunty Isabel a lot because she always buys her lots of snacks and origami books.

Pierre and Léon are our twin boys, and they're our middle children! They are identical twins, but they have very slight differences. Pierre has Levi's eye shape, while Léon has mine. Also, Léon has a mole on his right jaw just like me.

Pierre is also taller than Léon because he likes to play basketball. Pierre is also the more outgoing and active twin, while Léon is more passive and introverted. Pierre loves meeting new people and making new friends, while Léon prefers a small group of close friends. As Léon is more soft-spoken, Pierre used to bully him a lot when they were young, until Levi got so angry that he banned Pierre from playing with Léon until he knew how to love his younger twin.

The twins have very different personalities and temperament as well, so it's not that hard to tell them apart when they're older.

Pierre loves running around, and he loves playing sports. Pierre also asked his Uncle Farlan to teach him how to play baseball. Whenever Levi's friends come over, Pierre sticks to Mike and Farlan, and the three of them (and sometimes Charlotte) play basketball together.

Léon is Pierre's opposite, and he prefers doing things alone. Léon likes to read and do jigsaw puzzles, sudoku, and other kinds of puzzles. Léon asked Levi to teach him how to play chess, but since Levi had no clue at all, Léon went to his godpa Uncle Erwin for help. Léon also likes Hange a lot, and always asks them lots of questions whenever they're here visiting.

Holy Crap, Lawson is Married.

Data, ESOQ, and When To Expect Baby #1.

On Thursday (?!), May 12, 2022, William “Lawson” Bates, 29, and Tiffany Lian Espensen, 23, tied the knot aboard a yacht in San Diego, California. (Duggar Data totally called that they’d get married on a boat! Lol.) Guests included a slew of Predictor People, including most of Bateses and a healthy sprinkling of Duggars. (Oh, and don’t forget Tiffany’s family!)

People was first to report the nuptials. Lawson told the tabloid—

“This day has superseded all expectations I have ever had. I could have never even dreamed of marrying someone so kind, sincere and passionate about life as Tiffany! She has the absolute most beautiful heart, and I'm so blessed that God chose to bring us together.”

Relationship Recap

Lawson + Tiffany met through the magic of social media. Per Lawson, Tiffany had written an article about “faith in the spotlight,” which he “randomly” read. (Here’s the article.) Intrigued, he found Tiffany on Instagram a few days later, and “slid into her DMs.” From there, they started talking on FaceTime “every day for a month,” until they met in–person. Duggar Data would consider that ‘talking prior to meeting’ stage to be Lawson + Tiffany’s Pre–Courtship. And after that, up until he proposed, would be their Courtship.

Okay... Dates. When did this happen? Well, it seems they became “official” back in September 2020—September 21, 2020, to be exact. Based on that, Duggar Data is going to use that as their Courtposal Date. Counting back 1 Month, let’s use mid–August (August 16, 2020) as an Approximate Pre–C.S. Date, since we know they talked “for a month” before they met.

I have too many pets. Here they are all in one place.

Steven Tiberius Beans. God's perfect little animal except that he needs to be walked at least twice a week or he'll scream and try to run out the door. Born July 2017. Made of morning sunbeams and cinnamon. Extremely touchable tummy. Captain of the debate team. Once very clearly yelled "fuck you" at me but in his defense I said it to him first.

Eggs Benedict (Bennifer, Bimby, Bindle etc) cannot contain his emotions. Big happy, big scared, little baby legs. Muzzle trained and sedated for your safety. Plays the toddler xylophone. Feigns stupidity to manipulate others, has an absurd sense of humor. Built like a beanie baby but would bite a toddler over a squeaky toy. Born November 2019 (highly inbred and has major pandemic puppy problems).

Seeker (Dreamsend Dream Seeker) was rehomed to me from sheer dumb luck Fall of 2020 because the universe knew we were meant to be together. His manner of grumbling resembles a human speech pattern with a stutter. Sweet sensitive perfect creature. Can summon small localized breezes specifically to blow his hair around and occasionally dream walks to visit his friends. Born August 2014.

Susuwatari (Susu, Soup, Soupy) is a former bottlefed foster that my sister couldn't let go of, so she gave him to one of my partners. Buddies with Benny. Cuddly. Gets protective of little fuzzy pompom toys. Says Eeeeh instead of meow. Born and adopted sometime in 2020. If anyone opens the fridge while he's in the kitchen he grabs their ass and yells until he is given spinach. This is known as Soup and Salad time.

Sully (Suliman) was dumped at my clinic with a bunch of other young cats. I was fostering him but failed almost immediately. He thinks everyone should love him despite the fact his favorite hobby is causing problems. He knows exactly how cute his face is and will make baby eyes at you after affectionately biting your nose (hard!)

Former kitties Aris and Kiwi (tagged Kwee or kweecat) may come up from time to time but were humanely euthanized due to poor quality of life from unmanageable arthritis and worsening kidney failure.

Miyoko left the physical plane in 2024 but I'm leaving her blurb as it was when she was with me.

I think Miyoko is an animated pile of dust, fur, abandoned birdnest bits, and dryer lint that an irresponsible enchanter left in a Whole Foods parking lot. Completely delusional, told me she is a lost ruler of the fae because she has minor residual magical abilities. Not a fold, scar tissue rumpled her ears after untreated infection. Chooses violence. Adopted early 2020. Thinks Seeker is her best friend but he just ignores her because he knows she is unstable. Flings curses over perceived slights. Tread carefully. Maybe she IS fae I don't really know.

And finally, Cakepop was a very sick 2-3 week old kitten I found in 2017 and bottlefed. He passed away from Panleukopenia between 9-10 weeks old. It's hard to find my posts of him because my tagging then was very inconsistent. My heart is still pretty broken about losing him.

Alright, you’re probably thinking: 1. That’s probably the weakest parody of that bit in Watchmen I’ve ever read and 2. Are you serious that you actually played THPS 1 and 2 on N64 and then Dreamcast???

Yeah, I’m completely serious! But I’m not sure I’ve ever played anything that decoupled me from time as much as playing this did. It’s interesting, because you’d assume that I’d be able to experience this almost as something new, considering they’ve upgraded the graphics, aged up all the skaters, and even updated the game systems to match the post-THPS2 games what with reverts and that. But I think it’s actually to do with the hypnotic nature of the Tony Hawks games. They are pure “zone” games. A level loads, and you have to pretty much lose yourself to getting the highest combo–your fingers move really without any conscious thought, and what gets into your subconscious is that soundtrack; itself a sort of concentrated bomb of memory and emotion.

It’s… weird? It’s weird that playing Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater, to me, is like riding a bike. I literally haven’t touched one of these since Tony Hawk’s Underground on PS2 (“It’s December, 2003…”) and yet here I am, there I was: trick to revert to manual to trick to revert to manual to grind to manual like it hasn’t been, um, nearly twenty years.

I suppose I had forgotten how to do specials (you don’t rush the inputs, basically) but once that was locked in I was golden. Not that this wasn’t still a challenge for my clearly aging wrists, as once I decided I was going to 100% this with golds the marathon “fail, restart, fail, “just one more go”, fail, restart” session I pulled on the last level in THSP2… well, let’s just say for the first time in my gaming career I was having to ice my hands and wrists. God knows what long term damage I did even the first time I played these.

Anyway. This is as good as it always was. I think it’s a bit of a shame the original no-manual/no-revert play is relegated to a game mod option instead of actually being a way to play through the games properly, but I suppose the original games still exist if I ever want to play them–I’m not going to, but it’s interesting how the “final” incarnation of THPS gameplay put such an emphasis on just chaining special vert tricks; maybe I’m wrong, but I feel like the earlier system made you do more street skating for high scores (which I like more, I think?)

I don’t really know how well this did, but I suspect it was a bit like Activision’s attempts to get Guitar Hero up and running again–if you were there the first time and you actually play it, you remember how fucking great it is, but they miked the franchise so relentlessly that it’s hard to get up the urge to actually play it again. At least this one doesn’t come with several hundred dollars worth of quickly obsolete plastic, so I say… give it a go, I’m glad I did.

Will I ever play it again? Interesting fact: THPS2 had five extra exclusive levels on Xbox, and they’re not here! Though apparently parts of those levels were re-used in later games, so it’s possible those five levels are considered “non-canon”. I’d maybe play THPS2 on Xbox then one day, but I’d prefer a THPS 3+4 package please! I never played them the first time.

Final Thought: It’s March, 2041. I’m sitting in a burned out building, hoping that the roaming kill squads don’t check this quadrant today. My wrists really, really fucking hurt. I should never have played Tony Hawk’s in April 2000, January 2001, December 2003 and especially not in bloody August 2022!
