You know that feeling, when you’re listening to someone tell a story, and you can just feel in your gut that what actually happened is SO much darker than how they’re relaying it? And they’ve put a ton of effort in, right, to sand the edges down. They’ve gone over it a hundred times, beating all the wrinkles out, practicing like you’d practice a presentation or a stand-up routine. By the time they tell you the story, it’s perfect. You can’t help but be charmed by it. Can’t help but laugh at all the little silly bits. Can’t help but see it the way they want you to, so you don’t ask questions, you don’t dig in to the open wound just behind the plaster, you don’t let the certainty that it was Bad, Actually sweep you away. It’s just a fun anecdote now. Smile with them. Laugh with them. They’re here now, so it’s fine, right? Right?
I get the feeling that’s just Simone’s entire marriage to Taissa, and I feel so fucking bad for them both.

Yes, I would be very interested hearing your head canon (@tim-ribbert-56) (in response to this post)
I have decided for my personal entertainment that Clarisse de Cagliostro is related to Lupin III, and here's why.
-pulls out Arsène Lupin's Wikipedia page-
In the novel La Comtesse de Cagliostro, a young Arsène Lupin (at the time going by the name Raoul d'Andrésy) was courting Clarisse d'Etigues, a young lady of a well-to-do family, and trying to win her hand, despite her father's disapproval.
Throughout the course of the novel, Lupin meets and falls in love with Joséphine Balsamo, aka the Countess of Cagliostro, and abandons Clarisse in favour of her. To clarify, Joséphine is not actually countess of anything, she is (or claims to be) a descendant of Giuseppe Balsamo aka the Count of Cagliostro (who was also count of jack shit), a famous conman from the 18th century.
Shenanigans ensue, which I will not go into in details on, but oh my god I am insane about Raoul and Joséphine, I want to dissect them and study them under a microscope. It turns out Joséphine aka Cagliostro is evil as fuck, Raoul/Lupin realizes that and goes back to Clarisse (whom he had previously abandoned like an old sock, I fucking hate this guy), marries her, and a few years later has her kid.
Unfortunately Clarisse dies in childbirth, and Joséphine, who was still around and very very pissed at Lupin (and jealous as hell of Clarisse whom, may I mention, had never personally antagonized her in any way whatsoever, Joséphine is just fucking bonkers). Joséphine also kidnaps Lupin and Clarisse's son, Jean, and raises him as her own son. (I have not yet read the following novel The revenge of Cagliostro so I don't really know what Jean's deal is, I just know he's an antagonist).
The following is my headcanon, based on these events. In the universe of Lupin III, Joséphine Balsamo was actually countess of the small kingdom of Cagliostro (maybe Giuseppe was count, maybe he conned his way into becoming count, maybe he bought the land and built a fake kingdom with a fake history, who knows).
After the events of The revenge of Cagliostro, Jean settles down in the country of Cagliostro, gets married, has a child, and that child will later have a daughter of their own, who they name Clarisse, after their late grandmother. Clarisse de Cagliostro, of Lupin III: The Castle of Cagliostro fame, would thus be the great-grand-daughter of Arsène Lupin, making her Lupin III's cousin/niece/whatever you call this specific degree of separation.
I am choosing to make Clarisse de Cagliostro a great-granddaughter of Arsène Lupin, rather than a granddaughter, because Arsène Lupin was very young when the events I described unfolded: he is 20 years old when he meets Clarisse d'Etigues and the whole Cagliostro debacle happens, and 25 by the time Jean is born. I'm assuming he had Lupin II much later in his life. So Jean and Lupin II (half-brothers) would have a significant difference in age, and so Jean's hypothetical child (grandchild of Arsène Lupin, so of the same generation of Lupin III) would be much older than Lupin III. Clarisse de Cagliostro is younger than him, maybe around the same age if you stretch it, so she's have to be a great-grandchild.
Now I need to read The revenge of Cagliostro and study Arsène Lupin's wikipedia page in more detail to determine when exactly Lupin II was born and who his mother was. And also where Albert's family branched out, because the fact that he's called D'Andrésy should theoretically place him as a descendant of Arsène Lupin's mother but not of Arsène Lupin himself; but Jean was also going by that last name, so who fucking knows.
No I am not insane I promise, I am just a gigantic nerd.

waaaah thank you i hope i do her justice!
Technically, the first time Sybille met Cappie was when Eli and Wheaty had pulled her out of her own piss and shit at the Grand View. Still reeling from the Red Place -- disoriented and nauseous -- she had vomited all over Wheaty's shirt, and somewhere, amidst the chaos, she vaguely recalls hearing someone cackling.
The second time Sybille meets Cappie it's because she needs a new gun and she's significantly more lucid. And utterly astonished. "I'm sorry, you're askin' how much for this piece, again?"
"Look man, militia or no, a cop's a cop," Cappie says with a shrug. "Besides, even if I were inclined to give you a discount, this bad boy was hard as fuck to get my hands on. You're payin' full price."
Sybille shakes her head, but doesn't argue. They're reaching a point in this war where weapons are only getting harder to come by -- especially in the Whitetails. Shoving her hand into her back pocket she pulls out a wad of cash. She begins counting it and her shoulders slump when she comes up short. "I've got $800," she says.
Cappie clicks her tongue and shakes her head. "Ain't gonna cut, Copper."
Sybille sighs. Then, she swings her backpack around and pulls out a ziploc bag holding about two ounces of weed from the front pouch. "I'll throw in this and tell you where my stash is. That cover it?"
Cappie quirks a brow. She snatches the baggie dangling from Sybille's fingers. Her expression is deathly serious as she rips the seal. She plucks a bud, turning it and giving it a testing squeeze. She proceeds to stick her whole nose in the bag, inhaling deeply. She lifts her gaze to meet Sybille's and stares at her for a long moment.
Then, a smile creeps onto her face. "This ain't oregano." She zips the bag shut and shoves it into her back pocket. "Yeah, I'll call it close enough."
"Oh, thank God," Sybille breathes. It's just like being back in New Orleans and bartering at the fish market. Woman drives a hard bargain, she thinks. It's something she respects. Plus she's brash as Hell. Shit, I think I kinda like her.
She sure is glad she's fighting alongside Cappie rather than against her, that's for damn sure.
Cappie thrusts her hand out to give hers a fervent shake. "Pleasure doin' business with ya, Dep!" Then she pulls Sybille in close. "Now, what're those coordinates?"

Whoops I accidentally found my will to write with a silly little au my friend and I made only it’s just little snippets of Bernard and Tim being parents while in their villain era (Tim is a Cobblepot, long story, Riddler accidentally brought home a stray), except their child has lightning powers and is also a Raiden clone from another world (again another long story, Liu Kang was making baby clones of the Kombatants but then Kitana caught him so he started yeeting them through worlds, Tim and Bernard wound up with Raiden and Jason actually adopted Kung Lao). And Tim kind of took after Oswald so he’s also running a club and doing a lot of business, shady or otherwise, making connections, etc. and Bernard runs the front of house for The Den (Tim’s club) so sometimes their son is there but he’s wearing a dragon costume so it’s fine, he’s like their mascot.
And it’s just my two favorite nerds doing their best to raise a child who has weird powers, but they have the support of their villain/murder family and Oswald and Ed/Riddler are proud grandparents and Steph is the favorite bi aunt and also godmother (and also Spoiler has become more like Red Hood these days. She’s realized being friends with Tim that things would never improve without getting your hands dirty. She kills people now, but mostly she just controls part of the city and helps Red Hood out. Also she’s dating Cassie/Wonder Girl but that’s not important.)
