It says in the description that the zine is primarily going to be canon DCA and no shipping. For the artist application, are we allowed to submit drawings of DCA ship art? Additionally, can artwork submitted be non-DCA related just to show off composition and artistic skill?
Yes and yes again! You got it, friend!
If you have any further questions that can't be answered by our FAQ, feel free to send another ask!

Hello! I have a couple silly questions, never participated in a zine before haha
One; what are y'all looking for in the pitches? Is a simple sentence alright, or would a longer summary be preferred?
Two; I understand the zine will be focused on platonic stories and art, but for our examples, is it alright if we submit works that contain romance?
Hello friend! No worries!
One: Whatever you feel you need to do to get the idea across! It doesn’t need to be as short as a tweet or as long as an essay! Go wild! Two: Absolutely! While the zine won’t be focusing on ships, you can submit examples of it for your application!
These and a bunch of other questions you might have are covered in the FAQ - check it out here!

Hello!
Quick question regarding submissions for the applications:
in what format do we submit our samples? Do we need to submit them via links?
Yep! Links will be perfect! It could be to a Tumblr post, AO3 link, Google doc, or a carrd or other personal website, any will work! Just make sure that if you're sharing something like a Google link, that you have viewing permissions on, or that your twitter/X isn't locked to followers if you're sharing a Twitter link, so we can actually see your submissions!
There's further resources in our Submissions Guidelines if you need them!

hey! quick question!
for submission, could we also submit DCA ocs (fanart and original) just to show skill along with DCA pieces?
(i’m asking cuz recently i’ve been drawing my friend’s DCA ocs a lot, so would it be worth sharing along with the DCA pieces?)
You can absolutely submit example pieces that aren’t of the daycare attendant, but at least one of your pieces (preferably more) must feature the daycare attendant!

I wanted to know, what about the people who are about to turn 16 this year? Say, in 3-4 months. Do they have to be exactly 16?
To keep things consistent, we have determined that if you turn 16 prior to April 22, then that would be fine. Unfortunately that would mean that those who turn 16 after contributor applications close would not be eligible. There may be more projects to come in the future, but we shall see!

Hello hello! I have a question about the merch artist spots.
Is it already determined what type of merch (stickers, charms, pins etc.) might be made, or is that up to the merch artist and their suggestions? Also, is it required for merch artists to oversee any merch production beyond creating the files in the necessary formats? Following that question, does being outside the US make it harder to be accepted as a merch artist?
In the application for merch artists, there is a section that lists some ideas, allowing you to pick the types of merch you’re interested in making. The last option is “other”, allowing extra suggestions for anything that we may not have thought of or included in the interest checks. Additionally, there is a comment box at the bottom of the application form if you have any other ideas or suggestions!
Ideally, the merch artists would have some involvement in the production process. This may include making sure the merch has the correct specifications and giving any insight on production companies you’ve used previously.
Being outside of the US should not cause any issues. However, a large portion of the merch will most likely be produced and shipped from the US.

Hi! I have a smaller question regarding canon variants of the DCA: Is it alright to submit artworks/writings of the DCA with different variants of them coexisting as different bodies in a shared setting, or must they be within the same body? (the canon game depicts all variants to share a single body, but I know some artists usually draw different variants existing in their own bodies instead of sharing a singular one).
And if the above is allowed, will artists/writers also be allowed to depict different variants of the DCA in their own bodies in the ACTUAL zine/pitches?
Application samples, as well as actual final zine submissions by selected applicants, can absolutely depict different variants of the DCA in different bodies, or in the same body. Either is fine so long as the characters remain recognisable as the daycare attendant!

Hello! I am back with another question. I was looking over the merch artist application, and I do not yet have any finished designs for any merch for the DCA specifically, but I have done merch for an artist table in the past (I did an artist table at a local anime convention for ten years before I had to take a sabbatical for my health). I can provide examples of the type of things I've made in the past (stickers, pinback buttons, magnets, postcards, prints, etc) for a number of different fandoms, but I don't currently have anything ready-made for the DCA specifically. I can maybe make up a mock-design or two, but since I wasn't going to be doing the convention again this year (again, health reasons), I haven't made anything lately and certainly not new merch in the last couple of weeks in the hopes of getting a spot for the fanzine. Is this okay? I can certainly provide a lot of examples of the wares I've had made and sold in the past, but I hadn't gone beyond thinking up designs for like a sticker pack or a postcard design, since I didn't think I would need to already have designs for merch.
You can submit merch examples that do not feature the DCA for your application, along with at least one example (preferably more) of your art that features the DCA.
Mock designs for DCA merch would be fantastic but are not a requirement for this application and we urge applicants to put themselves first and not burn themselves out when applying for any of our roles - sharing neat and simple DCA illustrations that give us an idea how they may be translated into merch while not necessarily being merch-specific designs themselves may work in the place of specific DCA merch designs here!

Hello! I have a question about the contributor applications! I have never participated in a zine before, so I am wondering why do we have to enter in the email? Looking at it, I'm confused since it seems like discord would be the main form of communication, and not all that comfortable sharing my email.
The email will be used to contact you regarding your application once they close and decisions are made.
Discord will be used by mods and contributors for zine piece communications and guidelines.

Hello! I was wondering if anyone below 16 can contribute to the fanzine. Cuz I'm like 14 and I want to participate so badly.
Thank you for responding :]
Unfortunately, contributors for this zine will need to be 16 and older. However, should this zine be a success, there should be more zines down the line for you to participate in!
