Small Miracles
Beth Greene is not dead. Though it is not for a lack of trying.
After eight long years spent in the CRM's grasp, struggling to find reasons to continue surviving, Beth finally finds her reason: Rick and Daryl are alive, and they are closer than she ever could've guessed. Now she must take advantage of her only opportunity to escape and track them down.
Along the way, she revisits all of the places that changed her into who she has become. And she is forced to remember who she truly is at heart despite how unrecognizable she finds herself.
But she has an unexpected ally along for the journey. Just the same as her, he is somewhat of a living miracle. Except he's no longer living... he's a walker.

Chapter 20 // Part 12: Nuevo Atlanta II
She can see everything from up here. The building is just tall enough to overlook the entire community, as well as the skyline of Atlanta itself. And just as Elba said, it’s a perfect spot for stargazing. For thinking. For breathing. Beth steps to the edge and gazes out at the community of Nuevo Atlanta, able to see countless windows and shadowy forms. If she looks further, she can see the top of Grady in the distance. She sits herself carefully on the edge, feet dangling, and just looks. Just thinks. Just breathes. She recalls the letter from Edwards, squinting and imagining that she can see where the helicopter picked him up and took him away. It must’ve been the same spot where they picked her up and took her away. And after her, they took Shepherd. Where is Amanda now, she wonders? Is she still with the CRM? Did they make her a soldier? If Beth had stayed a soldier, would it have been possible that she and Shepherd would’ve been reunited? She’s not sure that she likes to think about that prospect. She squints and gazes further into the distance, imagining that she can see the border of Georgia along the dark horizon. Imagining what she may find waiting for her. She wonders what Daryl is doing right now. Is he sleeping in a clean, warm bed in his safe community in Virginia? Is Rick sleeping in his own bed just next door to Daryl? She knows they wouldn’t stay too far apart from one another, not even in a safe place. They are brothers—not by blood, but by circumstance and, most importantly, choice. Even after all these years, she thinks they’d prefer to stay close. Just in case. Now she’s imagining the damn near impossible: the future. A future where she and Mae both make it to Alexandria. And she already knows that she won’t want to be more than a few yards away from Mae at any given time. She’ll want to be able to step outside and look over and see Mae sitting on the porch next door, drinking coffee and reading a book in the morning sunlight. If Maggie is there—if she and Glenn are there—will they let Beth live with them? She’d like to live with her sister again. It’s been so long. It would make it feel more like home. But what about Daryl? Would he want to share a home with her? Is there a world where it’s possible for Beth to live in one house with Daryl, for Glenn and Maggie to live in the one next door, and for Mae to live in the one on the other side? Then Beth would have all the people she cares about most right within reach. She would finally feel safe. Really, truly safe. Or would she rather live next to the graveyard in Alexandria? Closest to the people she relates to most? She pushes that thought away just as quickly as it comes. She tilts her head skyward and gazes up at the vast stars. The crescent moon. The endless black sky. It resembles a graveyard, she thinks. All dead stars casting their final light, leaving pinpoint marks in the darkness of the abyss. She takes a deep breath of fresh night air, filling her lungs with it and reminding herself that she is alive. She is alive. She is alive. She is alive. And for just a brief moment, she wonders if it’s possible that Daryl is gazing up at the same sky and thinking the same thing.

Summary: Y/n is the younger sister of Daryl Dixon. Y/n was more like her brother Daryl than she was her brother merle. Well, that is unless she's angry. Then she has the mouth and anger of Merle Dixon himself. Y/n first met Gleen at the quarry. That's where there friendship first grew and continued to grow through the post-apocolypes.
Tumblr media
Y/n woke up to the sound of the birds singing and the sound of a few people moving around in the camp early in the morning. Y/n was usually one of the first to wake up. Y/n quietly striped out of her pajamas (an oversize t-shirt and booty shorts) she put on her white spaghetti strap tank top on and her light wash blue jeans and her steel toe boots. Fixing her belt through the loops and then her gun holster.
Y/n walked out of her tent. Daryl already awake poking the fire keeping the embers going. "Morning." Y/n says as she streches her hands over head. "Morning, did ya sleep good?" Daryl asks as he points to her horrible bed head. "I guess as much as one can during the apocolypse." Y/n says as she tries to calm her unruly hair. Running her hands through it wasn't doing much so she just pulled into a bun to deal with it later on.
"You need a shower." Y/n says as she gets a whiff of Daryl as she leans down to give him a hug. "Dirty balls Daryl you need a bath." Y/n jokes using his nickname Y/n gave him at the start of the apocolpyse. "speak for yourself, I smelt you when you rolled over this morning. When's the last time you showered?" Y/n giggled at him, and smacked him playfully on the back. "I took a bath in the quarry yesterday. And I plan on getting another one later on. I found some good smelling soaps on a run the other day. I also found some "manly" smelling soaps so that your ass would smell better. I suggest you use them." Y/n says as she walks off up the hill away from their spot from the quarry up to the group.
Y/n looks around to see Carol starting on breakfast. Grits and oatmeal enough for the whole group to have a good serving size.
"Good mornin' miss carol." Y/n greets the older woman with a warm smile. "How did you sleep?" Y/n asks as carol continued to hold her head down. "Carol?" Y/n repeats as she lowers herself to try to meet carols eyes. "Did he hurt you again?" Y/n asks as she sees the purple bruises appearing on her face and eye. "I'll kill him. Carol, you don't deserve no man beating up on you. Nobody deserves anyone beating up on 'em." Y/n says as she watches Carol start crying. "You can't he'll kill me. He'll hurt my baby girl." Carol begs Y/n not to do anything. Y/n shakes her but respects Carol. "Carol, I respect you, but if I ever see with my own eyes that man lay a hand on you.. He will meet his maker." Y/n promises Carol.
It was triggering for Y/n to see the bruises on Carol. Y/n and her brothers knew all too well about abusive people. Y/n just felt the anger she felt for her abusive father for Carols husband.
"Carol, it wouldn't be the first time I killed someone for being abusive." She says lowly just for carol to hear.
Carol looked up at Y/n shocked. "My father, he use to beat us. Me and my brothers." Y/n started and immediately carol felt horrible.
"Now, I ain't telling you this to feel horrible about this. I don't see myself as a victim. I am a survivor and so are you Carol! You don't have to stand by an abusive man Ever! The first time he laid hands on you, you should've cracked him over the head with a baseball bat." Y/n continues her little rant. Trying to give Carol the hope of a brighter future.
"If he hits me again." She nods, telling Y/n it would be okay. "You have to do it humainly. Don't make him suffer." Y/n shakes her head at carol. "After all these times he has beat you, darlin. And you still are loyal to him? Enough to have him die peacfully? You are one hell of a woman." Y/n says with a smile.
Y/n finishes the conversation as Sofia and Carl walks up to the two of them. Y/n says a polite good morning as she leaves them to it. Walking over to the laundry line grabbing her and her brother clothes. Folding them and placing them in a basket to take down to their camp. Folding the rest of the clothes that were on the line and putting them in piles on a picnic table.
"Good morning, beautiful." Glenn says as he kisses the back of Y/ns head. Y/n smiles as she turns to greet  her boyfriend. "Mornin'" She greets back giving him a peck on the lips quickly, not one for much PDA.
"What do you have plan for the day?" Y/n asks as she continues to fold laundry. "I was going to ask you if you wanted to go on a run today. We're a little low on our medical supplies and there is a pharmacy in the next town over about 20 miles from here. I figured since you were a nurse you would know what the best stuff to get would be." Glenn explains as he helps her fold clothes.
"Sure, it's a date." She says kissing him and then walking off to deliever everyones clothes to their tents. Glenn smiles as he watches Y/n walk away a little more pep in her step. Happy she gets to be alone with her boyfriend for the day.
"Daryl!" Y/n calls out as she puts their clothes away in their bags. Daryl was long gone to hunt. And Y/n shook her head with a smile. Daryl the one who was to himself all the time proclaimed he didn't care much about the group, but he always was providing for them. Y/n looks in her book bag grabbing pen and paper leaving a note that she will be back this evening that she was going on a run with Glenn. It's probably a good thing that Daryl and merle were gone hunting. They'd be picking at Y/n saying that she won't going on no run. Probably just going to fuck once they're gone out of sight of the camp. Which was kinda sorta true. But they always get what they need before they do it. (lol)
Y/n grabbed her knives. looping one through her belt the other slipped into her boot. Y/n grabbed an empty book bag and started making her way back towards where Glenn was waiting at the jeep looking at the map remembering the routes they were going to take.
"You two love birds be careful. We can't lose our best runners." Shane says with a teasing smile. "You ain't gonna lose us. We are just going to a pharmacy and picking up a few things the camp needs. There is a grocery store right beside the pharmacy we can hit up. Find can goods, flour, sugar, rice, penut butter. Anything we can find for the camp." Y/n explains as she looks at the map. "Hey, Y/n make sure you find condoms." Shane jokes as he playfully slaps glenns back. "Why for you?" Y/n says quietly with a smirk on her face. Glenn snorts at the shocked look on Shanes face. "Y'all ain't as sneaky as ya thought."
After that Y/n and Glenn got into a '98 chevrolet pick up truck. Y/n riding shot gun and glenn driving. Y/n held the map and told glenn where to turn.
Y/n loved to get out of the camp and go exploring the outside world. "Do you really think Lori and Shane are fucking?" Glenn says after they drive away from the camp. Y/n giggled as she looked at glenn with a funny look. "Why else would the two never be around at the same time? I mean when Lori leave shanes following like a horny dog right behind after a few minutes. They're aren't very discreet." Y/n says with a giggle in her voice. She lays her head on Gleens shoulder. Glenn throws his arm around her shoulder allowing her to scoot closer.
"Yeah, I guess i just thought they would be more discreet. You know, not doing it in the middle of the day, but maybe sneak out at night time and do it when nobdy was awake." Glenn says with a laugh following behind it.
They drive went smoothly, not running into many walkers on the road. It seemed like an average day. The only things on the road were abandon cars and a few stray cats.
Y/n enjoyed looking at the window. The summer sun beating down on the Green chevy truck. "Maybe we can find the kids some toys while were out. Carl lost one of them the other week. I bet you he lost it down at the quarry when Shane was trying to help him catch frogs." Y/n says as she studies the map. "Yeah that would be nice. They always seem to get board of the same toys and books." Glenn agrees.
Eventually, they pull up outside of the pharmacy. It looked untouched from the outside. None of the windows broken the door still standing shut and locked. Y/n grabbed her lock picking kit from her bag and they jumped out the truck.
Y/n picked the lock as glenn rounded the building looking for any creepy crawlies. "I think the coast is clear. Must be our lucky day." Glenn says as he comes around the building back to Y/n. Y/n pushes the door open. Putting the lock picking kit in her back pocket. "Well, lets hope there's no alarm in here." Y/n says as they walk in. Both of them guns drawed with a knife in the other hand.
Y/n went right Glenn went left both sweeping through the pharmacy. "Clear." Y/n says as they meet at the back of the store. "Alright, grab anything you see. Bandaids, gauze, disinfected products. Anything to deal with wounds. I'll go in behind the desk and get the pharmaceuticals."
"What size condoms do you think Shane needs. Extra small?" Glenn jokes. Y/n bellows out a laugh and says "maybe an extra extra small." Glenn and Y/n loved to joke around.
It seemed like Glenns optimism has rubbed off on Y/n. Ever since the two of the got together they have become so close and Y/n finally has hope in the world. Y/n has become more free spirited.
Y/n packs the bags full of antibiotics and other medicines. She was thankful at the time to have gone into nursing. She's glad that she has the education to know what to get and what's needed. Y/n grabbed all that she knew they could use she bagged.
"Hey, babe! I'm done did you get what we needed?" Y/n asks as she climbs over the desk to get back over to glenn. "Yeah, I'm just trying to get female products for the women at camp." Y/n looks at the shelf grabbing a diffrent variety of tampons, pads, and diffrent menstrual products. "We really hit the jackpot. This place literally hasn't been touched." Glenn says as he looks at both of their bags full to the brim.
Y/n and glenn left the  pharmacy on their way to the grocery store next to it. This Y/n didn't have much hope of what they'd find. She didn't know if it would be walker infested or not. But she tried to stay hopeful.
"Alright, I think the best way to go through this one is to stay together. We shouldn't seperate. This store is a lot bigger then the pharmacy." Glenn says. Grabbing a duffle bag. Y/n nodded as she grabbed another bag as well.
Y/n and glenn got out the truck quietly. The waited at the door and banged on the window. waiting for the walkers to come up to the door. Y/n grabbed her knife. They opened the door. Letting one out at the time killing them and continuing doing that until all the walkers were dead.
Y/n and glenn carefully enter the store. Y/n grabs a shopping cart and they start to walk through the store. They grab all the food they can find. They grab all the can food and non perishables they could find.
Y/n found a few kid toys on one else. Not big toys just some small fidget stuff that just entertain kids. Y/n and Glenn were about to walk out of the store when they heard something or someone come in.
"Do you hear that?" Y/n asks quietly trying to figure out whether it was human or not. Glenn holds up his gun placing a finger over his lips silently telling Y/n to stay quiet. He walked to the end of the isle to see a group of walkers making their way in. At least twenty of them. Y/n sees them and starts to get nervous. 20 vs 2. What are the odds?
"We can handle them we just kill them with knives until it gets too much." Glenn says as calmly as he can.
Y/n pulls out her large hunting knife. The first few  walker rounds the corner and Y/n and Glenn stab them quickly. Continuing their little rhythm together.
Y/n and Glenn finished off the walkers one at a time. Y/n and Glenn were bloody and gross. "Can I be weird for a second?" Y/n asks looking at Glenn with loving eyes.
He nodded wiping his knife off on a walkers clothes. "You look hot killing Walkers." She says with a smirk. He smirks back as he puts his knife away. Leaning in giving her a kiss. Y/n smiled into the kiss deepening it. Glenn taps Y/ns hip telling her to jump. Y/n does as told wrapping her legs around his waist as he holds her up. Walking over to the counter letting y/n sit there as they continue to make out.
"You know we did get those pack of condoms." Y/n mumbles as she continues kissing his neck as he starts to take her shirt off along with his.
Glenn smiles as he reaches into his pocket holding up a golden wrapper. "Already prepared." He smirks. Glenn create hickeys and love bites down her neck and chest.
"Glenn." Y/n moans quietly looking through her eyelashes up to Glenn. Y/n works on his belt as he does the same to her. you know what happens after that.
---
Y/n and Glenn put their clothes back on. Fixing themselves and grabbing their stuff and headed to the truck. Y/n puts all the shopping items into the bed of the truck emptying the shopping cart.
Y/n and glenn drive back to camp. Everyone was happy to see the truck full of groceries and medicine.
"I can't believe you found all this food and medicine." Carol and lori say at the same time. "We really hit the jackpot." Y/n says with a smile. Y/n grabs a special bag and gave it to shane. "Don't want no little ones running around." She smirks saying the same thing the group has said to Y/n and Glenn when they first got together.

Chapter 17 // Part 9: Grady Memorial Hospital
There is still plenty of evidence of the mass bombings that occurred right after The Turn, but more than that, there is evidence of time and weather eating away at everything. Nature is reclaiming what has been abandoned by humans. The once-pristine buildings are now covered in sprawling ivy and patches of moss, the neatly-manicured parks and lawns are overgrown and flowing out into the streets. There are flowers and lush green plants everywhere. The trees have grown taller, larger, more formidable than ever before. Strange fungi sprout up in even stranger places. Birds fly overhead, flocking from one tree to the next, making nests in the ledges of shattered windows and calling out to one another. Beth spots stray cats and wild dogs darting from one dark place to another, no longer accustomed to the presence of living humans and wary of the very sound, hiding away as soon as she rounds a corner or takes a step in their direction. There are field mice, rabbits, raccoons, squirrels, and even deer in places where, a decade ago, they would’ve never dared tread. At one point, Mae stops and lets out a little gasp. Beth whips her head around, expecting the worst, but only finds Mae turning to her with a wide smile on her face. She holds out one hand and Beth sees multiple ladybugs crawling across her skin from where she reached into an overgrown patch of leaves stretching out from the shattered window of a convenience store.  “Look at ‘em!” Mae whispers loudly, her eyes filled with wonder as she watches the ladybugs crawl up and around her wrist and lower arm, some of them getting caught on the edges of her long sleeve. Beth feels something twist inside her chest. A memory flashes through her mind very briefly: a single ladybug settled on a leaf, crawling onto her finger as she patiently waited and gazed at it with a dream-like wonder. The first thing to bring a smile to her face in many days. Gale says, “A sign of good luck.” Mae carefully brushes the insects off her skin and back to the leaves they occupied. “Let’s hope so.” Beth doesn’t say anything, but she most certainly agrees. Only a couple of hours after noon, with the sun high in the sky and beating down upon them, they reach Grady Memorial Hospital. Beth stands in the middle of the street and stares up at the burnt-out shell of what was once a grand building. She does not dare circle around to the other side, already well aware of what awaits her there: the various abandoned cars, one of which she had been laid to rest in by her own family. She doesn’t even know if that car is still there. She doesn’t want to know.

Chapter 13 // Part 7: The Train Tracks
They stop only for a moment, just long enough to find the familiar headstone that Beth so distantly recalls amongst the overgrown grass and wildflowers. She yanks away crawling ivy and small patches of moss to reveal the inscription: Beloved Father. And then she stands back and simply gazes upon it, shutting her eyes and trying to remember how it felt to hold Daryl’s hand. Trying to imagine how it might feel now, with her hands just as callused and scarred as his own. Yet still warm. Still warm and alive and loving. When she opens her eyes again, she sees Mae kneeling and gently picking a handful of yellow wildflowers, their petals wilting under the weight of raindrops. Then she places them with tender care atop the headstone and steps back to admire the sight. It brings a sad smile to Beth’s face. Mae turns her head and catches Beth’s eye before she whispers out, “For my dad, too. If that’s okay.” “Of course. For both our dads… and everyone else.” They let a respectful silence of remembrance fall between them. But it is broken all too soon by the distant groans of walkers shambling through the woods in their direction. “There’s more on the way behind ‘em,” Gale says quietly. “The closer ya stick to me though, the easier they’ll lose our trail.” Beth nods. There is no time left for lingering on the past. There is only the future. “Let’s move.”

Y/n Dixon, younger sister of Merle and Daryl Dixon. Y/n Dixon was a wild card. She was either quiet like her brother Daryl and to herself. Or she was mouthy and speaking her opinion like her brother Merle. Some would say that's the worst mix, but to Y/n she thought that was the perfect mix. She can hold her own and she can hunt and track just like her brother Daryl. -Who's secretly a better tracker then their brother merle. They all knew it whether they said it or not was a different story.
Y/n and her brother were walking through the woods when they came up to a camp. Merle wanted to gain their trust until they were ready to rob them of everything they had. Daryl and his little sister didn't truly agree with it, but followed their brother.
Y/n was a little worried going to this camp of strangers. The only thing that made her feel a little better was that they had many women and children there in their camp at the quarry.
"I think Y/n should walk up first. They might feel more sympathy for a woman than a man." Merle proclaims as they hide behind the tree line watching the group of survivors.
"What if they dangerous?" Daryl asks his older brother. To which merle bellows out a laugh. "Dangerous? This little fire cracker can hold her own." Merle said as he slaps his sisters back. Pulling her against him as he talks.
"I think I can handle it." Y/n says. She's always been able to hold her own. She used to get in fights in school. Never lost one of them. Well, except for the one time when a group of girls ambushed her while she had no back up. But if you asked Y/n herself she'll tell you that she pretty much won that fight. Because all she had was a broken wrist and some bruises. The other girls were unrecognizable. She got suspended while the preppy rich girls just got a slap on the wrist and told not to do it again.
"Are you sure?" Daryl keeps questioning his younger sister. He didn't want to make her do anything she wasn't comfortable doing.
"D, you know I can go up to them. And if they start some shit, they'll have to deal with princess right here." She says, as she taps her hip where her Glock with an extended magazine rested in the holster. And that wasn't the only weapons she had on her person. The two hunting knifes that were hidden under her clothing. And the homemade dagger that rested in between her DIY Bra. Where the dagger was in-between her breast. Hidden and not noticeable unless you knew it was there. Something she had came up with just after the apocalypses.
Her brothers and her started walking up towards the camp. Y/n leading and her brothers following a few yards behind her. Y/n Could see the camp coming closer to sight. She was taking notes of the people that were there. "Families." She tells herself as she looks around. A man who had a police ball cap on. Who hung around a skinny white lady who seem to have a young son. Brown hair freckles. She sees a couple of Young adult women. Both blondes. They look so small Y/n thinks she could probably take them both at once if it had came down to it. There was another family, Y/n thinks maybe Mexican. Trying to describe it in her head. Not being racist or anything, just making notes. And maybe a couple other people.
"Stay back." Y/n quietly told her brothers as she topped the hill and was in full sight of the camp.
Y/n walked a little bit closer and then called out to the group. "Hello! I come in peace." She says as she hold up peace signs with her hands. -Always the one to make jokes in a serious situation; something she got from merle.
The man with the police cap jerked his head up instantly pointing his hand gun up at her. The woman he was talking to hiding behind him and what Y/n assumes is her son behind her.
"I'm sorry y'all. I didn't mean to startle yall." Her thick country accent carried down to them. sometimes Merle and Daryl swore she sounded more southern then the both of them combined. If you weren't a good listener you might not understand what she was saying.
"Who the hell are you?" The man calls out walking closer towards her. But still keeping a safe distance. "My name is Y/n Dixon. I am just here to have a safe place to sleep at night. I was always told it's better to be in a group than by yourself." She smiles a innocent smile gaining their trust.
"May I ask y'all, y'alls names, Mr.?" She was waiting for him to answer back with his name, but he didn't.
"If you were always told to stay in a group why are you alone now?" The man asks her. Lowering his gun just a tiny bit.
"I have two brothers." She gives away. "And where are they at?" the man looks around. "Somewhere safe. They sent me to make sure it would be safe to join y'all. That is if yall allow us to join your little group." Y/n says in the calmest voice.
"I want to believe you, but why would two men send a woman somewhere that may not be safe." The man says. He doesn't trust her. You cant trust anyone these days. Y/n understood that. It's not like it's a normal Sunday evening and she's trying to join someones barbecue. This man has a group to protect. and from the looks of it they all are like one big family. She 100% understands doing whatever it takes to take care of family.
"Well, who said they were men? Maybe they're little children? Who are you to say, Mister? My momma said assuming makes ya an ass." Y/n smirked and pierced her lips Leaning on one hip kinda with a small attitude. :)
"I'm sorry." He apologizes for assuming after lori tapped his back for kinda being rude.
"Do you have any weapons on you that might hurt me?" He says as he lowers his gun, slowly approching her. "I'm sorry ain't we in the middle of the apocolypes? 'course I got a weapon. and not to be rude sir, but I don't plan on surrendering them to a bunch of strangers that I don't know."
"I understand." the woman says as she joins the man walking up to her. "My name is Lori. That's Shane." She says as she smiles friendly at the younger woman.
"How many geeks have you killed?" Shane asks Y/n. "I didn't know we were keeping score, but probably a couple hundered." Y/n says. "Have you ever killed a human before?" A human? Y/n thinks. She doesn't tell them the truth and says no. "No, I ain't never killed a human." That's because she wouldn't count that person as a human Ever!
"Your brothers? Have they ever killed a human?" No she shakes her head.
"Get your brother, but you have to put up camp away from us. Until we can gain your trust we cannot fully trust you. We dn't know yall. You can understand that. We have families to protect we can't fight the living along with the dead." Y/n agreed with Shane.
Y/n whistled and the two brothers walk up the hill. Weapons put away until they need to be out.
"These are my older brothers, merle and Daryl dixon. Boys play nice." Y/n says as she introduces her brothers to Shane and Lori.
They welcomed Y/n and Daryl with open arms. Merle well he was a racist pig who treated women, besides his sisters like they're a piece of meet.
Y/n and her brothers set up camp down in the edge of the woods and the water at the quarry. Merle and Daryl set up camp as Y/n gathered wood and twigs and dry leaves to start a fire with. Y/n starts a small fire and builds it big enough to start their supper on. Daryl gives Y/n a few squirrels to roast on the fire. Y/n starts to skin the Squirrels and she hears someone walk up to her. She looks up and sees someone she hadn't met yet.
"Hello, We haven't met." Y/n looks up at the Korean lookin boy. "No, I don't think we have met." Y/n says as she holds her bloody hand out for him to shake. He looked at her outstretched hand and looked a little grossed out. She notices and wipes the blood off on her already dirty jean. "Y/n Dixon, nice to meet you.." "Gleen, Gleen Rhee. It's nice to meet you, miss Dixon." "Just Y/n." She says with a smile.
And that was the beginning of their friendship.
y/n slowly started to fall for the Korean boy. They had a lot alike but at the same time they didn't. He had all the features she wished she had. Optimistic, charismatic, charming, handsome, Grammarly correct. The boy just seemed perfect to Y/n.
As time goes on Y/n creates a bond with the group. She helps the women do laundry, fix supper for the camp, goes hunting with Daryl to help provide food for the camp. Y/n enjoyed having a somewhat "normal" life here at the quarry. She did most of the things she enjoyed doing before. She helped the group when needed. She helped look after the kids when the adults needed a break. She helped cook over the fires for them. When Y/n first cooked for them it was the best meal they had in quite a while. Y/n knew how to cook the squirrels, rabbits and deer perfectly.
Y/n always gave the best parts to Gleen. The one she thought would taste the best. Nobody really paid attention to it, but the one thing they did notice was how Y/n would have less plate on her food then the rest. She always made sure the children would have full stomachs when they went to bed at night. To see that they were just living off wild mushrooms and sometimes fish if they catch was good that day. She was so sad to hear it and made sure that she did everything in her power to make sure the kids always had full bellies wither or not hers was growling with hunger or not.
Merle hated y/ns heart. He wanted her to be selfish like him, but she wasn't. She had always put people before her, her whole entire life. She always put merle and Daryls needs first. he hated it, but that's what she's always done. he secretly loves her for it.
As the days gone by Y/n and Glenn had started becoming closer and closer. Y/n would help him when he went on runs. She was soon to be called on of the best runners for the group. Always on the look out for what they needed/wanted. She always brought a book bag and a duffle bag. she would look for toys, comics, and treats for the kids. Female hygiene products for the women. Including always being on the look out for Motrin . And always on the look out for her brothers favorite candies.
Y/n started to slowly fall for this boy. He was everything she wanted in a man. He always took a risk for the people he called his family. He may have just been a pizza delievery boy, but Y/n always tells herself that she probably would've dated him if she had the chance back before the apocolypes.
Y/n was walking along side the water when Gleen decided to join her. She was enjoying the sounds of nature. Feeling so blessed to not hear the sounds of the dead walking. Y/n and Gleen sat down on the edge of the water. The whole group up at the top of the hill. Everyone enjoy the food they had fixed for supper, frog legs and rabbit.
"You know I always wondered how the world would be if there was an apocolypes." Y/n says as she figgets with a twig in her hand.
"Did you really?" Gleen laughs shaking his head not judging but just enjoying her presence.
"yeah, but not like the dead walking apocalypses. More like the world not functioning anymore. Airborne disease maybe? IDk." The conversations went on. Just some small talk anywhere from where did you live. what kind of life you had etc..
"I was a nurse." Y/n had said. "Really? I don't think I ever expected that." Gleen says shocked. "What does that mean?" Y/n say jokingly offended. "I don't mean it in a rude way. I just never expected a bad ass to be a nurse. I don't really know what i was expecting really." he says as he looks up at the Y/E/C eyed woman.
"Did you ever date before the apocalypse?" Y/n questions, looking into his brown eyes she could stare in forever. "No, did you?" He asks. She giggles. " I tried to date this boy back in high school. His name was John. We "dated" as in we hung out in parking lots with his friends. Smoked a little weed and drank a little bit, but nothing serious. When my brothers found out about him. They threaten to beat him up. And when they did, I never heard from him again." Y/n says laughing at the memory.
"Do you think they'd beat me up?" Y/n smiles up at Gleen. "We can see." She whispered as she leans in giving his lips a small peck testing the waters.
"And if they tried.. They'd have to go through me first. And I'm their favorite sibling over the other. As long as I am happy that's all that matters." Y/n says against his lips smiling up at him through her long eye lashes. Looking into her eyes he deepens the kiss. He lays her back slowly against the ground. They continue making out when Y/n hears her name being yelled. She rolls her eyes as she pecks Gleens lips again before getting up. Gleen looked scared, but when he seen it was just Daryl picking at his little sister like always. "Don't be making no kids. We cant have babies running around 'ere." Daryl laughs at them and stares at them. "Fuck off!" Y/n yells as she flips the bird on her brother and he walks off. and that was just the beginning of their relationship.
