He just has to muster up the courage to actually go to one of the League meetings. Instead he wastes his time staring at that icy hippie in his music history class who doesn’t know he exists. He needs to stop pretending people are gay in his head and actually meet some real homosexuals.
Blaine coming of age in 1969. Hippie!Kurt. Elliott and Sebastian as Blaine’s mentor-friends. Unironic use of ‘groovy’. Coming out and fitting in and falling in love.

Immutability and Other Sins series by fabfemmeboy (not completed)
This is an AU that spans from the late 1950s to just shy of modern-day. With the exception of the prologue, it goes in order. It begins in the fall of 1959 at Dalton Academy and follows the trajectory of the American gay experience through our not-always-so-happy couple. While the central story series is Klaine, there are some genfic stories on the side, set in the same universe and timeframe. Mostly because, as I planned out the main story, I kept coming back to all the ways in which the members of New Directions would be different 50 years ago, how many ways their worlds would be unfamiliar or more limited than we think of today. For all politicians seem to talk about what a great time the 1950s were, they weren’t for a lot of people.
There will be links periodically to songs involved in the story. Sometimes it’s a big plot point, sometimes the character is singing it, sometimes it’s just what’s on in the background. Think of it like the soundtrack, since it’s not something we can hear in the episode because there is no episode. Or disregard it entirely, that’s up to you.

HKVoyage’s Note: This series is not completed (last updated in December 2017). However, at 674k words, it is well worth the read, even though you wish there was more. The author has written up to the late 1970s.

Thank you so much for sending this message. I myself was surprised that I was writing for advent but then it happened and has been a very happy distraction during yet another wave of this neverending virus.
Now that I am finished writing it, I actually don't know what to do with myself other than read @wowbright's brilliant mormon!klaine verse - highly recommend for anyone looking for excellent escape.

Alright everyone. Now that a few recs are up, I’m asking for some feedback. Answer all of the questions or some but I’d like to know how I’m doing here. Thank you.
1. Are the recs interesting? Do they make you want to read the fic?
2. Am I posting often enough? Not enough? I’m trying to post a recommendation twice a day. It may slow down later, but what do you guys think?
3. Are the fics varied enough? So far, I’ve only posted longer fics. Would you like me to switch it up?
4. Eventually, I’d like to do a trope spotlight and all week long, give people a chance to review their favorite fics in that trope. What do you all think?
5. Would you like me to review your fics? If I’ve read them, I’ll put your fics in cue. If not, I’ll put them on a to-read list. Pm me if you’re interested.
6. Would you like to help me run the page? Right now, I’m off work for summer but when school starts back, things get busy. It’s my hope that other people start to leave reviews on here, but I’d Lionel for this blog to grow.
7. Are there fics you’d like me to review? What are your favorite fics? As long as I’ve read them, I don’t mind if they meet the guidelines. If I haven’t read them yet, I’ll put them on my to read list.

Author Spotlight: Redheadgleek Day 4

What other Glee Fandom authors do you enjoy? Can you recommend some of your favorite fics?
I read so much fanfic so it's really impossible for me to chose favorites and we have so many good writers still active in this fandom. I'm going to give you 5 classic fics that I return to over and over and 5 new fics that everybody should read. (I'm already feeling so much guilt over leaving out so many that I consider my favorites).
The Classics:
1) A Nation of Two by Zoneviled - It was one of the very first Klaine fics I ever read and it's still one that I return to. I love the insecurities and just how "high school" it feels and it's one of the "Blaine transfers to Mckinley" fic, but it twists it by doing it when they were still doing the pre-dating dance.
2) Near Misses by flaming_muse. It's a classic, but I still remember how much it moved and gutted me when I read it. Also check out her episode reaction fics as they always had additional insights into the glee world.
3) Scholars and Gentlemen by MaryFlanner is one of the best fics that I have ever read in fandom, hands down. The exploration of grief still guts me and the words are pure poetry.
4) Do I read every Star Trek AU that this fandom produces? Yes. And do I love them all? Also yes, but this one especially because of how well it fits into canon too. All I Ask is a Tall Ship by AntarcticBird.
She also wrote my hands down favorite story of Jesse being an annoying roommate in What Are the Odds. (I'm also a sucker for every Harry Potter AU and movie AUs and did I mention that I love AUs?)
5) Villiageidiot's fic are some of my favorite humor fic in fandom. The bro code (and Blaine Anderson's guide to breaking it) always has me in stitches.
(And I'm always on the look out for a copy of one of my favorite series of all time, called the Most!Verse by miggy, which was a gen fic exploring Kurt and Rachel's friendship in New York and was written before Blaine was really a character. Sadly, it's been deleted, but I would give anything to read it again. So message me if you happen to have a copy of it.)
Newer stuff:
1) @klaineanummel writes some of the most intriguing AUs that I have ever read. I am drawn into every one of their stories. I highly rec Story of My Life which they wrote for Klaine Advent (I know!) and Eighteen Going on Extinct to get you started.
2) @kuhlaine is a new writer in fandom and their stories are stellar AUs that are absolutely captivating in their world building. I recommend One More Day is Not Enough.
3) You all are reading @darriness's A Fic A Day series, yes? Which is her second month of writing fic every day, on top of the year where she wrote fic every day, and the times when she wrote fic every day for Klaine Advent. Plus the stories are cute and sweet and just what every day needs.
4) @byebyeblainey is another new writer. Her fic about a famous Kurt running into middle school teacher Blaine was delightful. Go read it: When Are You Going to Sing For Me.
5) @gleekto's Even Better Than The Real Thing just completed and was a really delightful Famous!Blaine dating an unknown superfan!Kurt romp.
Also, check out all of the excellent stories written for the Blaine Big Bang and Glee Potluck Big Bang. So many good stories that I'm still making my way through.

1) @spaceorphan18's Chasing Pavements (fake dating!) and The Spaces In Between (all about Kurt!).
2) @slayediest's Anderson's Ghosts which is just the perfect combination of spooky Christmas AU.
3) @kuhlaine's latest WIP Summer Fling Don't Mean a Thing which is a perfect summer escape.
4) @dizzywhiz When The Night is Over. A faking dating fic? Yes please.
5) It's only updated once or so a year, but the wait is always worth it.That's How You Know by @afterthenovels is the perfect Enchanted AU. I love every bit of it - please read and leave a comment of encouragement.

@gleekto answered an ask yesterday about Darren’s chemistry and how it relates (or ultimately doesn’t relate) to the sex of his partner in projects and some people mentioned that Darren would have chemistry with an inanimate object.
While on the way to work today, Chasing Gold came on my shuffle and...Darren HAS had chemistry with an inanimate object before!

"but of course he knew how she treated people. He likely experienced it." Lea's behavior was well rumored, and more, so it's no surprise. And I expected gleekto to throw in her two cents. I also expect her to avoid the same analysis and conclusions about Darren's closeness with Ryan Murphy who's also had problematic behavior. But I didn't expect her to use the Lea reckoning to claim - with zero facts and many to the contrary - that Darren was also a victim of Lea's. That's a first.
I can’t speak for Gleekto but I will say the entire point of her comment was that Lea’s bad behavior has nothing to do with Darren. I don’t think she implied he was a victim, simply that he likely witnessed the bad behavior and that she likley was cold and rude to him as a new cast member. Clearly, Darren made peace with what he saw or experienced as he is friends with her though I never got the feeling they hang out a lot outside of the LM/DC tour. In any event, It isn't our place to judge Darren’s choices. We have no idea what conversations were had between them or where Lea is now on her journey. The complaints we are hearing are atrocious but thye are 6+ years old. Few people are as immature at 33 as they were at 23.
We have to allow Lea time to learn and grow. While it was appropriate for her to make an apology statement, there is no way in hell she understands her bad behavior 12 hours after it was brought to her attention. She’s lived the life of a privileged white woman and celebrity for the majority of her life, she can’t develop a full understanding of the pain she caused overnight. It takes time and it takes work. I hope that the apology was the begining of her journey and that she does the work necessary to truly understand her white privilege and her position of power. In the meantime, she still needs friends and loved ones to support her. Fans don’t have to support her but vilifying her friends and family for loving her is heartless and inhumane. Lea’s crime was believing she was better than other people and that because she was better, she deserved special treatment and privileges including not having to follow social norms of kindness, compassion, and fairness to others. Now it’s time for fans to back off and let her figure out how to right her wrongs.\

You’re a published freaking author, in a language that’s not your first at that! You have nothing to prove and people should know that constructive criticism start by being asked for, not forced upon writers smh
That’s very kind of you to say, and for my published work, I do pay attention, and rererererereread everything, and I have amazing editors and copy editors who work with me
If I said something along the lines of “please, anonymously tell me what I’m doing wrong”, I would understand that anon, but there seems to be a sense of entitlement from people on the internet, that a creator has to deal with their opinion no matter what

I am sending my mormon!klaine wish-scenes in an ask - you can publish and I imagine others will add theirs to it, or you can keep private just for you - whatever you want! The world you have created is epic (and really should be a mini-series on TV but I have no such connections). So I hope that in slow burn (but not TOO slow) mormon!klaine fashion, we will get to see:
- The kitchen conversation after Crazy For You where they talk about all the new and what they're ready for and what they're not, and how they see sex and what they have, and all that - my cliffhanger!
- The scene after Summer Skies (I mean that ending has strong 'I wanna go to your house' the first time vibes - though not sure what first time that specific night will bring)
-Blaine comes out to Schwester Rose (they have a nice friendship!)
-Conversation/s between them about sex and religion and how each of them (particularly Kurt, as Blaine sort of gets it instinctively) shift their thinking on what is allowed/acceptable/holy
- First time they see each other naked on purpose
-Kurt telling someone (friend? Burt?) that he is with Blaine and how awesome/life affirming it is - maybe Blaine overhearing?
-Kurt confessing to Blaine that he is willingly/happily masturbating (omg that shower scene was amazing)- before or after they first kiss
-Having to navigate being together and being distracted by each other with all the responsibilities of their mission
- a scene back in the US where they are together and in the same place (before the scene where Kurt is thinking Blaine will propose) and "allowed" to be together (maybe a weekend away somewhere) publicly and how they navigate a freedom they've never had before
-all the scenes where they navigate sex and their own lack of knowledge/experience (come on, who doesn't want those firsts!)
-Elder Nixon figures out that they are together (we know he is supportive from the dentist!)
Those are the ones I've got right now. I can't wait for all the rest and thank you for your writing.
Woohoo!!!! This is delightful @gleekto. And most of these are in the plan. The one that wasn't was because of technical mission-related reasons, but I might be able to work around it.

Basically, I started a glee blog (2011) and have always been a Glee blog. Try and tear me away, I dare ye.
What do I post: Mostly reblogs of Glee pics, gifs, and old crap, klaine fic, whatever Darren or Chris are up to. Things have definitely slowed down in recent years since the end of Glee, but I am always here, always watching... lurking. Ocasionally reblogging.

I was on one of those Glee forums for most of the show. After a couple of seasons the general wisdom there was that Kevin was gay (which turned out to be true). But my point is that some people there even speculated half jokingly and half seriously that Chris and Kevin might have fooled around. It was about something Kevin said at some point about the early days but I can't remember for the life of me what it was.
Ohhhh does anyone remember? That’s funny...I wasn’t paying that much attention to Kevin until after Glee. Then Gleekto was following him and I realized he was hanging with Austin all the time and asked her if he was in a relationship with Austin -she wasn’t sure at that point since he hadn’t said anything but she suspected as I did. I had no clue people were speculating about him and Chris. Clearly he was always staring at Chris LOL. Of course I made that after someone showed me the post someone made about Chris and Lea using photos of them staring at one another too. It’s so easy to manipulate the truth through photos.
