The Gin Blossom: Part III
Tumblr media
Warning: Mention of PTSD, survivor guilt, and suicide.
The night had been going so well.
You had stuck around Santo Padre for the last week. There were no festivals during that week that you had signed up for and the idea of catching up with Songbird and Riz sounded like a nice break. However, you found your time spent helping Jo and Songbird decorate the outside bar space for a wedding reception that was happening Saturday. Coco and Stitches had apparently eloped and this was their punishment: an evening of elegance and celebration with their closest friends.
If this was how their esteemed friends were treated, well…it was a good sign of a healthy community. You have to admit, meeting the variety of people in the MC and their significant others, you understand why Songbird has settled here, has made friends with these people. And they seem to have fully accepted you into their ranks. No one stands on ceremony. If you’re going to be part of the group, you’ll stick around. If not, you’re free to go. The honest and direct acceptance is something you only ever came across in the Marines.
This is a true brotherhood.
Your days are spent stringing lights, arranging flowers and candles for centerpieces and the evenings are spent with Gilly. He comes to Jo’s bar since you’re staying in your airstream that’s still parked behind the venue. You have a few beers, swap war stories, and subtly flirt. You like him, much more than you thought you would. He’s resilient, funny, and kind. You like his sarcastic sense of humor, and the ease of conversation. You could fall for him, seriously fall for him, and you haven’t felt that way since Dylan. It gives you hope for a second chance of happiness, for finding a true home.
When he asked you to accompany him to the reception on Saturday, you didn’t even have to think about it. You had enlisted Songbird’s help in choosing a dress for the occasion. Normally you wouldn’t care. Fashion was never something important to you. But you felt like this mattered, this was important. And you didn’t want to throw away a chance at finding your second chance.
The dress was a simple, over the head shift that was a blend of greens, blues, and golds, that brushes right above your knees. Songbird dug out a pair of gold sandals that lace up your calves. She must get the same feeling that you do, that this is some kind of turning point. She fixes your hair, a mix of twists and braids. On the short walk from your trailer to the bar, Songbird picks one of the papery-thin cactus blossoms, a vivid magenta bloom, and tucks it into one of the twists by your ear.
You can’t help but feel a twinge of guilt as you greet Gilly by the entrance of the reception area. It feels selfish, wanting this second chance. You were adopted by a power couple when you were three. Pulled out of a meth house in Chicago, hiding under a kitchen table clutching a bag of McDonald’s fries and chicken nuggets and handed to a four star Army general and a corporate lawyer. You went right into the Marines after high school graduation, married a Gunnery Sergeant, and thought you had your happily ever after.
That is until everything went completely off the rails.
And brings you back to your current situation.
You had a lovely time at the wedding reception. Eating, drinking, and dancing with Gilly. You enjoyed being close to him, held by him, and when he leaned in close during the slow dance and asked if you wanted to get out of here, you didn’t hesitate to answer yes. But now he’s holding the passenger door of his truck open for you and terror roots you to the spot.
Shit.
This is not how you saw this situation going.
***
Gilly knows a PTSD episode when he sees one, and the look on your face tells him something terrible has happened in a vehicle’s passenger seat. He automatically switches into rescue mode and shuts the truck door. The sound is enough to snap you back from whatever traumatic experience you were reliving.
“I’m sorry-”
“No,” he interrupts you. “Don’t be sorry.”
He can see you’re trembling so he takes your elbow and guides you towards the back of the truck, dropping the tailgate. Your eyes land on all the things that he and Riz had collected for this evening: blankets, pillows, a cooler. So much for it being a surprise now. He grabs a blanket and spreads it out on the tailgate before helping you up on the makeshift seat. A few deep breaths later, you give him a shaky smile.
“Were you trying to seduce me this evening, Mr. Lopez?” Your voice is still trembling but you’re regaining your footing.
“Who says I’m giving up on the seduction?”
You laugh shortly and your shoulders start to relax. It’s a good start. But he sees you’re still struggling to find your words. You’re brave. You’re a marine. And you do end up capturing those elusive words.
“Remember I told you about my husband, Dylan?”
Gilly nods. “Yeah. You said he died a couple years ago.” But you never said how and pieces are starting to fall into place. “Car accident?”
You nod your head.
He’s heard a lot of stories, far too many of them, of vets coming home and within six months, slamming their cars into trees or motorcycles into ditches. The thought had crossed his mind a time or two if he was being honest. But something always stopped him. The hope that something was going to come along and make it all worth it. “He did it on purpose?”
“Yeah.” You rub a thumb over your Marine tattoo. “Except I was in the car with him.”
“Fuck.” The word is out of his mouth before he can stop it. “God, I’m so sorry.”
“There were warning signs. Events that lead up to that night but…” you trail off, a whole other story behind that revelation. “I tried to pull the wheel so the car would stay on the road but…he punched me in the face. Knocked me out. The doctors say that’s what saved my life.”
“Being limp at impact.”
“I was in a coma for a month. They weren’t sure I was going to come out of it. But I did. And then found out Dylan didn’t make it. By the time I was released from the hospital, and could face getting back into a car, grass had already grown over his grave.”
PTSD. Survivor’s guilt. Grief at not being able to do enough. Gilly knows these feelings all too well. He rests his hand over yours and you immediately slide your fingers between his. “You know, even if you did recognize all the signs, that wouldn’t have stopped him.”
“I know.” You squeeze his hand. “I know that now.”
They sit in silence together, hands entwined, and listening to the music from the reception drift over to them. It’s soothing and after a few moments of sitting together like this, he decides on how to move forward. Gilly takes out the keys to his truck and holds them out to you.
“Whatever you want to do this evening, you’re in the driver’s seat. You’ll always have the driver’s seat when you’re with me.”
You look at the keys with wide-eyed surprise and then your gaze shifts to the supplies in the back of the truck. “Well, it seems a shame to let such a lovely seduction go to waste. And it has been a while for me. But,” you sigh dramatically. “I’m afraid I don’t know where a good location for such an event would be.”
“Lucky for you, I happen to know how to get there and will be more than happy to provide directions.”
You take the keys from him, leaning forward and kissing him briefly. “Well then, let’s not waste any more time.”

You leave me no choice … I’m addicted to your (Gilly) drabbles! Can I have him with soothing, harsh, and brother, please?
Hello! Why yes, you can! He isn't on my list of men I write for, but I will be putting him on there, because why not? :)
Tumblr media
Slight smut below the cut, minors DNI!
The hot water surrounding you is soothing to your marked-up skin, stinging a little where the rope he had you tied with the night before burned against your flesh.
The act could perhaps be seen as harsh by some, letting your burly lover tie you so helplessly, bound up as he'd fucked you savagely, but the words he'd whispered while he'd done had been nothing but sweet. That is, after all, the duality of Gilly Lopez you fell in love with in the first place.
He enters the bathroom, studying you curiously. "I thought you were heading out with your brother today, dulce?"
You shake your head. "I took a raincheck. I'll never be able to cover all of these," you begin, gesturing to the dark pink of the rope grazes that adorn your arms and chest, "and he'll only ask too many questions I don't want to answer. He doesn't understand kink."
Gilly nods, leaning to kiss your lips, his thick beard tickling your skin, a deep rumbling chuckle echoing his throat. "Well, if you got a free day ahead, I might have to think of a couple of ways I can add a few more. You enjoy your bath for now though, princess."
He leaves you with a tingle spreading from between your legs just at the very thought of enjoying whatever it is he has in store.

Could I get a drabble for Gilly porfa?? 👀🥰
With the words fight, dress, and drive?
It's been so fun reading all of these 💕
Why did this get violent?? I need to chill lmaooo
Tumblr media
"Did you just shoot that motherfucker?"
"Just drive!" You shouted.
Gilly put your car into shift and sped off while cackling, "Only you would get into a gun fight outside of a movie theater of all places."
He'd come to pick you up from your girl's night, but your exit got interrupted by what you now realized as a robbery attempt. You simply moved on instinct, pulling your semi when you saw the sketchy guy approach with a gun in his own hand.
Gilly was still cracking up as you looked down and frowned, "Shit, I got blood on my dress."
Send in drabble requests for the sleepover!

Bodyguard!Gilbert 'Gilly' Lopez x reader, the usual for the show, 1584 words
a/n : bodyguard au cause we love them tropes
Tagging my Gilly people @narcolini @drabbles-mc <3
Tumblr media
‘’ You lied to me. ‘’
‘’ I did. ‘’
‘’ Are you even dating me or is this all a big joke too? ‘’
He sighs, and suddenly the big SUV feels too small for the both of them. The cracked glass across the windshield makes it hard to see, the busted window in the back letting the wind whistle between his ears.
‘’ I… ‘’
His tongue rolls in his mouth, he doesn’t know what to say. On one side, he shouldn’t tell you, admit that he likes you, not when your dad had been clear about that in the contract. All means necessary, don’t fall in love. On the other, how couldn’t he, when you had been so kind, so charming since the beginning, why wouldn’t he want to date you?
‘’ Don’t. ‘’ You answer back, sinking into your seat. ‘’ I don’t want to know. ‘’
He had done lots of business with your dad before, a strong man with piercing eyes, sharp suits. That is where the offer came from, between gun trades and small talk. Got a babysitting job for you, Gilly, easy work, easy cash. More like a bodyguard job, a dumbass bodyguard job with actual danger, guns and wounds. Your dad had told him you wouldn’t be easily convinced, that to ensure your safety he would have to be less traditional, less leather and handgun, more friend, even closer if needed. And he did, even if he knew it wasn’t part of the plan, letting you run your fingers through his beard, sharing the same side of the bed, he just couldn’t say no.
‘’ Listen, baby, I- ‘’
‘’ Don’t- oh my god, Gilly what the fuck is wrong with you?! ‘’
Your hands are tight, gripping the door handle as he takes a sharp left. You turn to face him.
‘’ Stop it, it’s over! Don’t ‘baby’ me, don’t… ‘’ you gesticulate around, hands flying, ‘’ Just stop. ‘’
You raise your palms to your eyes, pressing, muttering things he can’t understand. He can sense your distress, he knows you now, better than anyone, more than your father would like him to probably. It has been months since you two had been together now, good months, the best ones for him this year. It was an easy job at first too, simply because you never were a primary target, just one that they would try to hit if deals went wrong. Being the child of a gun lord usually came with a fair share of barrels pointing back, and, from what he had seen from you when bullets eventually started flying, staying low and away from the windows, this whole routine was old news to you.
‘’ Please don’t be mad, I can explain. ‘’ He tries again.
You scoff, and he watches as you squint your eyes at him. It makes him feel small in his seat.
‘’ I don’t think you can, Gilly. Save your breath. ‘’
The car is colder now that the sun has gone down and he watches the wind wrap around your hair, lets the breeze bring goosebumps to his arms. He knows the two of you are too exposed, in this beat-up car, bullet holes on each side. It pains him that he knows the only place you will truly be safe is at your dad’s house, and he has to bring you there, not the club, not his house, not anywhere else. Drop you off, collect his hazard pay and leave. Leave you and hope you will answer his texts, even if he something tells him you probably won't.
He takes a left turn, fast, into a poorly lit backstreet, almost propelling you against your window side. The breaks get pressed just as fast, and you have to brace yourself with your hands on the dash.
‘’ Have you gone mad?! Did they hit you on the head or something?! ‘’
Gilly turns off the car and pivotes to you, bringing his arm up to wrap the back of your seat, caging you in.
‘’ I can explain. ‘’ Let me, please.
He is observing you, the frown between your brows, the anger in your eyes, the dried blood on the side of your face. It is superficial, really, barely a scratch, but he has to hold himself back from reaching out, move your chin to the side so he can get a better look. He breathes your name as the overhead lights dim out, leaving the two of you in the dark, pleading. He can smell your perfume, hear the shakiness in your breath.
‘’ Okay, whatever. ‘’
You cross your arms around your chest. Even in the darkness, he knows you are watching him, waiting.
‘’ I like you, I do. ‘’ He starts, ‘’ I wasn’t supposed to, though, we just needed to be friends, you know? So I could make sure you were safe. ‘’ But I failed.
‘’ My dad hired you. ‘’
‘’ He did. ‘’
Your shadow moves, moving to the side to lay your head on the headrest. Your voice is soft, going through the motions, exhausted. You must be tired, the rest of the adrenaline dripping out of you in waves.
‘’ Do you work for him, selling the guns and stuff? ‘’
‘’ More like with him, I’m in a motorcycle club. ‘’
We buy them, he could have said, sell some back if they ever come across a nice shipment from god knows where, but he doesn’t. You are smart, you get it.
‘’ You’re used to getting shot a lot. ‘’ It is not a question, more like a fact, piecing the information together.
‘’ You could say that. ‘’
He holds his free hand out, and you take it, his warm fingers taking in your cold ones. He can tell you have softened up, put down the axe.
‘’ You really like me? ‘’
‘’ I do, very much. ‘’
You squeeze his hand, gently, even though he can’t see, he knows you are pursing your lips, biting the inside of your cheek. You move gently, twisting between your seat and the cup holder, leaning down and pressing your cheek on his shoulder. He can feel your body relax into his.
‘’ Can we go home now? I want a hot shower. ‘’
‘’ I know you do, baby, we’ll be there soon. ‘’
He lets you nuzzle into in shirt, caressing your hair with his free hand. He starts the car, driving back up to the main street. He doesn’t have the guts to tell you you are going home alone tonight, that there is no way in hell your dad will let you sleep somewhere else.
To his surprise, you don’t put much of a fight when you notice the gates around your dad’s house, or when he says your name into the intercom so you can be let in, but you are a smart one, of course, you picked it up. The nuances, the conflict inside of him, how he couldn’t get out of the car at first, couldn’t let go of your arm when people started pouring out the house. I’m good, Gilly, you whispered to him, thank you. And so he listens, he lets go, picks up his cash and leaves.
.
A week passes, a long one, of mindless thinking, passing time, putting cars on the lift and then bringing them down. He hears about you at Templo one morning, barely a sentence, something about your dad catching the guys, how business between him and the Mayans has been booming since then. Thanks, Gilly. Good job, man. The military training finally paying off, uh? He nods and smiles, but he doesn’t ask about you. He tries to play it low, make it seem like he is not taking the biggest hit of his life.
When he gets home that afternoon, something is different, maybe it is the way the grass is bent where it usually isn’t, how the doormat is slightly crooked, but it is you sitting at the diner table that makes him stop in his tracks.
His hand is still on the gun at the back of his waist, his other tight on the door handle when you wave at him, a small smile on your lips. Your hair is slightly shorter, different, and you are wearing too many layers for the California heat. You speak first.
‘’ Hey, baby… ‘’
Gilly lets go of the handle at his back and closes the door behind him. Baby. Baby. You stand up before he can talk back, nervously taking a few steps towards him.
‘’ We were on lockdown, I couldn’t call, I couldn’t leave. ‘’ Your fingers are pulling at threads on your jeans pocket. ‘’ I’m sorry, Gilly. ‘’
He melts, there is nothing else he can do. His arms find their way naturally around you, one hand on your head, pushing your cheek against his chest. He knows you can feel his heart beating in your ear, hear the relief that comes out of him with a sigh. There is no hesitation when you hug back, warm fingers griping at his cut.
‘’ I will never lie again, I swear. ‘’
You laugh, and it makes him squeeze tighter.
‘’ It’s alright, only for good reasons from now on, okay? ‘’
Okay, he will. Protecting you will be a full-time job now, maybe not the small contract he thought he was going into, something different, something warm and meaningful—soft, loved.
The most pleasant job in the world.

Country Shit
Gilly Lopez x F!Reader (Soldier Reader) Summary: Pre-canon fic where you think the worst as a black town car approaches your home but are pleasantly surprised by whose home.
A/N: Posting this fic I've had in my docs finished for a while now. I hope to start getting back in the swing of things soon. I know a lot of people have been commenting/messaging/reaching out about my Bear series and I promise I'll update that soon, but for now enjoy my first Gilly fic from Mayans :)
Word Count: 2.4k
Warnings: All my fics are 18+ regardless of content. Cursing, mentions of war, bootcamp, training, army, army rangers, PTSD, trauma, death, grief, dishonorable discharge. Lightly angsty? Or maybe I'm numb to angst and its like medium-angst level lol. Light fluff.
Mayans Taglist: @drabbles-mc @justreblogginfics @narcolini @danzer8705 @keyweegirlie

The clouds were rolling in, you heard the thunder in the distance as you sat on the back of your wrap around porch staring out at the ranch in your backyard. You pulled your cardigan tight around you out of instinct as the breeze from the storm on its way in, blew past you. The dark clouds casted a shadow on the large land of property that made up your backyard, the free-range chickens you owned had retreated into their coup, the two horses you took care of were nestled safely in the barn you had just 500 feet away from the house, and your dog was alert on your left hand side as he stared up at the rumbling sky.
“Come on, boy, let’s get inside before it starts coming down.” You stood up and opened the back door and nodded for your dog to go inside.
Your timing was impeccable, just as you closed the screen door, the rain started. The living room walls were filled with windows, you could see the droplets throughout every window on every window that surrounded the room. The sound of the water pelting against the roof and the deck filled the house, it was loud and mixed with the rumbling of the thunder. It needed to be drowned out, so you moved over to the record player you had set up by the front of the living room.
The memory of the last time you used the record player was coming up short, but seeing the Sam Hunt record in the player made you smile. Placing the needle on the record, it scratched for a minute before the music started playing. It brought you back to a time in your life, there wasn’t much other way to describe it besides a time. It wasn’t something you’d describe as the best time in your life, not in the slightest, but there were some moments that weren’t completely horrible.
“Come on! Grab your drink!”
Those were the famous last words your bunkmate said before she dragged you onto the dance floor. You remember the beat of the banjo playing so loudly as you moved to the beat. It was the last night of Ranger School, you had graduated earlier in the day, your friends and family had come and gone already to wish you well before they shipped you off to your assignments.
You weren’t alone on the dance floor, you were in Georgia, so when Sam Hunt was playing, the crowd tended to thicken up a bit. The noise got louder from people singing along, and although it wasn’t your go-to selection, it was fun in comparison to everything training had put you through. You remember feeling beer dripping down your jeans as you jumped up and down with the mix of Ranger graduates and town locals, but you didn’t mind one second of it. You just loved having the excuse to wear something other than your green service uniform.
As the song reached its last minute, you had started to sing along to the lyrics, your laugh was contagious by those around you as you enjoyed the celebration. You were drunk, there was no two ways about it, and you weren’t alone in that, everyone around you was too. Some people attempted to line dance, because choreographed moves were the perfect thing for a bunch of drunks, but everyone seemed to make it work. Except him. And you heard his voice in your ear as you were trying to keep up with those around you in the last moments of the song.
“Can you show me how to do this shit so I don’t make a total fucking ass of myself?”
You smiled at the comment, and turned to him. Lopez. You had worked with him over your summer of training, but to say you knew him well would have been an exaggeration.
“And you think I know what I’m doing?” You chuckled as you looked back at him. “I’m just following everyone else. It’s like a kick kick step step turn thing.”
“Right.” Gilly was trying to catch up as he moved next to you. It was hilarious to watch but it was also nice, having someone else with you that didn’t exactly know what was happening. “Man, I wish they’d turn this country shit off.” He whispered to himself as he tried to follow along with his feet.
As the song came to a close, you spoke up to him. “Didn’t peg you as the line dancing type.”
“I’m running a bet with the guys.” He pointed back to his group of friends. “Longest one to stay out on the dance floor, actually trying, gets their tab taken care of.”
“You do realize we’re in a bar full of locals who love buying drinks for anyone in the service?” You frowned at him.
“Yea but there’s just something really fulfilling about Timmer paying my tab off for me, you know?” He was laughing back with you.
Now that, you understood. Timmer was a real asshole, said things that got under everyone’s skin so if that was what was on the line, you’d help Lopez out. The song changed, it slowed down. A crowd of people left the dance floor, while a new crowd also filled it. Gilly looked around and saw just one person he was in on the bet with left on the floor with someone in their arms.
“Need a partner?” You spoke up, hand extended out to him. Out of nerves, he laughed and took your hand in his, your other arm moved to hang around his shoulder loosely as you both began swaying to the music.
“Thanks for helping me out.” Gilly said to break the silent tension.
“Look, anything to make Timmer get the shit end of a stick, but I’m thinking I should negotiate something out of this deal for myself.” You made a face as if you were thinking.
“I mean, fair is fair.” Gilly said as he took the lead and moved you around the dance floor. “What’d you have in mind.”
It was a tactic, but it worked, it had you shocked for a minute that he had taken the lead.
“I want my tab covered, too.” There were likely a million other things you could have negotiated from this, his dessert during meal time, laundry, literally anything but you were so caught off-guard you just said something quickly.
“Deal.” He agreed quickly.
Both of you stopped talking and continued to move slowly, swaying back and forth, the silence between you both allowed you to hear the lyrics of the song.
“You and me, wild and free. Way out in the woods, nobody for miles.”
Those lyrics brought you back to the present moment, in your shared home with Gilly that way out in the woods, nobody for miles. Now, some probably would have said that was the night that started it all between you, but after those dances, and a few drinks, both of you went back to your respective bunks and didn’t speak to each other until a week later when you were both deployed to the 2nd battalion in the 75th Ranger Regiment, and well, that bonded you two differently. Those two months on the home base in Washington is where the both of you fell in love, whatever that meant for two active duty Rangers. After those 2 months, they shipped you out to your tour assignment, where things got dark.
You stood there, getting lost in your thoughts as your brain wrapped itself around a new set of memories, ones that were heavy and hard to even think of. The memories of being on combat duty, seeing things that were burned in your mind as a souvenir of your two tours, and the one that constantly replayed in your head. The memory of being dishonorably discharged because you refused to follow orders. Before you could think further on it, you jumped at the sound of your dog barking. Your eyes moved to the driveway, the sound of the gravel crunching was mumbled under the music and the rain but it was still prevalent. The rain distorted the view out of the window, but you could see the black town car rolling down your driveway, which was otherwise empty. You lived easily 30 minutes from town or any person, neighbor, or establishment, and that was purposeful. When you got discharged, Gilly got sent backshortly after on leave with you for a week. The two of you were already married but had no place to call home and with you being done with the military, it was time to set down roots. Roots that wouldn’t push you into a PTSD fit constantly, you liked being off the beaten path, you liked being unbothered, on your own. On your own. Those three words instantly meant something completely different now as you stared at the black car in the driveway. Everyone knew the black town car pulling up, unexpected, to the home was the news. The news no one wanted to get, but being deployed yourself prepared you for it in a way that explained the solitude in your heart and lack of panic. You moved away from the window before anyone exited the car, you took the few minutes you knew you had before someone rang the bell to kneel down and be eye to eye with your pup.
“I wish you were going to understand what was about to happen, buddy.” Your hand scratched behind his ears. You saw his nose wiggle as he sniffed the air, and he let out a little whine while looking at you.
You let out a sigh, and closed your eyes. That’s when the doorbell rang. As your dog ran to the door, you knelt there for 30 more seconds, preparing yourself mentally to hear the news.
The words rattled in your brain before anyone even said them to you, it was your brain's way of preparing you before you got up to answer the door. The commandant of the Army Rangers 75th Regiment and Second Battalion has entrusted me to express his deepest regrets that your husband, Gilberto Lopez, was killed in action. It was then that you realized you’d find out when and how, and that’s when you held your breath. It’d affect you differently, because you knew the logistics of things, how to read between the lines of what was told to you. Before another thought filled your head, you were standing up and making your way to the door and opening it wide.
Immediately your dog was out the door whining and jumping on the person in front of you. You thought you felt your breath hitch, I mean you were seeing a dead man, or what you convinced yourself in the last 5 minutes was a dead man, standing in front of you but you were frozen, until he spoke.
“Hey buddy boy, I missed you, yea, hello.” He spoke to the dog, his backpack still on but the other bag was discarded to his right as he let your dog greet him joyfully. “You been takin’ care of our girl, right?” He said as he stood back up and you felt the breath you were holding release and suddenly you were launching into his arms.
He let out a woah mixed in between a chuckle as he steadied himself and wrapped his arms around you to embrace you back. You both hugged for what felt like eternity, eventually he moved both of you into the house to avoid getting anymore wet from the rain. You still had your hands wrapped around his neck, your heads were next to each other when he whispered something to you.
“What happened? I’m gone for a few months and you got that country shit playing?”
When the laugh left your mouth it’s when you realized you were crying.
“Hey, you’re not allowed to say that when it’s our song.” You pulled away so you could look at him now.
“See, country music’s got you crying.” His thumb moved to wipe your tears away, the smile on his face was big, he was happy to be home, happy to not be thinking about everything– anything.
“I thought you were dead.” You said as his hands cupped your face.
“I’m surprised I’m not.” His face hardened almost immediately as he shifted to talk to you seriously.
“You back for good?” Staring into his eyes, you looked for an answer, but were only coming up with pain and exhaustion.
“I’m back for good.” He nodded and moved to place his backpack down.
“It’s hard being home.” You said, hating to break the moment but you knew it was inevitable to talk about.
“It’s hard being deployed.” Gilly answered.
You looked into his eyes again, it was obvious to you that they were eyes that had seen a lot. You knew that since your eyes looked the same when you were sent home. The difference between him and you was he was there longer, whatever happened when you weren’t there was going to haunt him.
“Back for good.” You repeated his statement, trying to wrap your brain around what that meant, what you both were in store for but you were quickly interrupted by a kiss.
As your eyes closed, you melted into the touch. His lips on yours brought you back in time, to your first kiss, your wedding day, then the day you were sent home, saying goodbye to him. But now he was home, and he was kissing you hello.
“You and me, wild and free.” He said the lyrics from the song that brought you two here as he rested his forehead on yours.
“I thought you hated country music.”
“I fuckin’ do. But I also fuckin’ love you.”

You and your boyfriend Gilly thought it would be a nice idea to mark your 1 year anniversary by having a nice picnic on the beach, just the 2 of you. Gilly had changed your life since you met him. From day one he has been your rock. What attracted you to Gilly was his sense of humour. He was a quiet man, but occasionally he would come out with something that would leave you in tears of laughter.
You worked in a small café and Gilly was a regular. He would come in every day and order the same thing, a bagel with jam and a coffee. He never said much to you, but you always caught him looking at you, and he even sent his friend over once to ask if you were single. Then one day he managed to work up enough courage to speak properly to you. You still remember the interaction fondly.
“Can I have some butter for my bagel instead today please?” he had shyly asked you flashing you a small smile. You handed him the butter and you thought that was the end of it until he turned back around.
"Did you hear the rumour about butter? Well, I'm not going to spread it!" That joke he made was enough to win you over on the spot, and a year later you were still going strong.
-----
You and Gilly spent the morning making up your picnic basket. Gilly was in charge of making the sandwiches, and you were in charge of the goodies. You chose some chocolate, fruit, popcorn and crisps to go along with the sandwiches.
“Are you ready to go Y/N?” Gilly asked as he carefully packed up the picnic basket. He grabbed a blanket from the cupboard and added that in on top.
“Yeah I’m ready, let’s go babe”. You drove your car to the beach because unfortunately the picnic basket would not fit on Gilly’s bike. You loved sitting on the back of his bike, with your arms wrapped around his muscular body, cheek pressed against his back, hair blowing in the wind.
You pulled up 30 minutes later and luckily you had the whole beach to yourself. It wasn’t raining, but it wasn’t exactly warm either, and usually that was enough to put people of from coming to the beach.
“Why don’t we set up over there?” Gilly pointed to a golden section of sand that was surrounded by rocks and beautiful green seaweed.
“Sounds like a plan” you grabbed the picnic basket from your car and walked hand in hand down to the rocks. You were so glad Bishop gave your boyfriend the day off from club business. You had text the Mayans president explaining it was your 1 year anniversary with Gilly and he was more than happy to give him some time off so you could spend it together. You made friends with the Mayans immediately when Gilly finally introduced you to them. He was hesitant at first because he thought you might “like the other guys better than me” were his exact words. You spent that evening showing Gilly just how much you loved him and only him.
Gilly unpacked the blanket and spread it out on the sand, and gestured for you to sit down. He carefully unpacked the sandwiches, and the other goodies and spread them out in front of you.
“I made your favourite” he commented as he passed you a simple ham and coleslaw sandwich.
“Thank you Gil” you pressed a kiss to his cheek and took a bite from your sandwich. You spent the next few hours reminiscing about things you did together the past year, and what new things you wanted to do in the next few years of both your lives.
“I have an idea” you said to Gilly as you stood up and started to take off your clothes.
“What are you doing?” Gilly asked as he nervously looked around to make sure there was still nobody at the beach.
“I’m going skinny dipping, and you Gilberto Lopez, are coming with me” you said as you stripped down to your bra and pants. You reached your hand out for Gilly to take and you helped him stand up.
“Are you crazy? It’s freezing mami!” you were definitely more adventurous than Gilly was. He wasn’t a scaredy cat, but he needed a bit of persuasion to agree to do crazy things with you.
“Pleaseee” you pouted your bottom lip and you knew that would make him reconsider.
“Fine” he replied as he stripped down to his boxer shorts. “If I die, I’m going to haunt your ass.”
“You won’t die Gilly, the water isn’t even that deep” you took off your bra and pants and threw them behind you. “Race you there” you shouted as you sprinted down to the water and jumped in. You looked behind you to see Gilly just standing there staring at you with a big grin on his face.
“Come on!!” you shouted at him. “It’s not even that cold” Gilly took off his boxer shorts and joined you in the water.
“Please tell me you brought some towels with you?” he asked.
“Ummm, no?” you flashed him a sweet smile and he playfully shook his head at you and splashed you with some water.
Gilly suddenly disappeared and you started to panic, turning around in circles trying to spot him. It was about a minute before you felt him tug your leg and pull you under the water with him. You both re-emerged and you slapped him on the shoulder.
“I thought you were dead!” you half shouted at him.
“I am” he shrugged. “Drop dead gorgeous” You couldn’t contain your laughter and the 2 of you were laughing crazily like teenagers in the water.
“Come on, let’s head home” you said to Gilly as you headed for your clothes to put them back on.
“Happy anniversary Y/N” your boyfriend pulled you in to him for a kiss that lasted a few seconds. “I love you mami”.
“I love you too Gilly”.

The Gin Blossom: Part II
Tumblr media
Title: The Gin Blossom
Rating: Explicit
Pairing: Gilly Lopez x Reader
Summary: You thought you had your life all planned out until everything changed. Finding yourself a young widow, you turn an Airstream trailer into a food truck and tour the southwest. You met Riz and Songbird (from @bullet-prooflove's stories) and when they invite you to visit the revitalized town of Santo Padre, you find that maybe home isn't out of reach for you.
You expect Riz to come back around at the end of the concert to help you pack up, but it’s someone else who is standing outside the backdoor of the airstream. You have to admit, you’re not disappointed at all at seeing Gilly’s surprise appearance. He’s standing off to the side, making sure to be under one of the strings of Edison bulbs hanging around the food truck area, hands in his kutte and a small smile on his face.
“I don’t know if you remember-”
“Gilly,” you answer immediately, trying to reign in the smile that is threatening to take over your face. “I remember you.”
He ducks his head briefly. “I, uh, I was just wondering if you needed some help cleaning up, getting things put away.”
You stand to the side of the door, holding it open with your arm and giving him room to enter into the trailer. “I would love some help. Riz usually helps if we’re at the same festival but, well…you know.”
He passes through the door and looks around the kitchen space. “You know what?”
“Songbird’s wearing that black silk dress tonight. We’re not going to see them until the wee small hours of the morning.”
He laughs once. “So it’s the dress. Huh.”
“And now you know.”
“And I kind of wish I didn’t.”
You watch as he looks around the small interior of the Airstream trailer. Most of the space is dedicated to the kitchen and storage of gin bottles. You can see him analyzing the space, how everything, other than the dishes in the sink, is in its place. Every surface is spit shined and squeaky clean.
“What branch are you?”
You pull up the sleeve on your sweatshirt and show him the tattoo on your inner forearm and he nods appreciatively.
“Marine. I should have known when I could see myself in the grill hood of a food truck.”
You unplug the fairy lights and start pulling the napkin dispensers from the front window. “Never had a failed health inspection.”
“I believe it. So, what can I help with?”
“How do you feel about doing dishes?”
He starts to roll up the sleeves of his flannel shirt. “Like I’m about to do some.”
You watch him out of the corner of your eye as he starts to do the dishes. He’s methodical, precise, and the plates and cups are spotless when they’re placed on the four tiered drying rack. “So what branch are you?”
“Army Ranger.”
“Impressive,” you say and you mean it. Rangers were a badass unit but that didn’t mean she couldn’t have some fun with him. “I guess when you can’t make it in the Marines, Rangers are a good back up.”
He emits that loud, barrel-chested laugh that you remember from before. “Oh, is that how it’s going to be then?”
A good natured silence fills the airstream as you continue with your closing routine. By the time all supplies are properly stowed and you pull the blinds down on the front service window, Gilly is finishing up with the last few plates.
“Good timing,” you say as you reach for a bottle of gin that you think he will like. “Do you have time for a thank you drink?”
“As long as you join me for it.”
You grab two leaded glass tumblers from your personal dishware and head back outside. It has to be close to two in the morning. All patrons of the festival have left, the stage is dark, and all the food trucks are closed up. It’s peaceful now that the noise of people, music, and generators have all quieted. The edison lights that provided light around the area are still on though and Ginny finds a picnic table underneath them not far from her trailer. She pours the gin into the glasses and hands Gilly one before sitting on the top of the table. He takes a sip and settles beside her.
“This is good. Sharp. Clean.”
“It’s the lime infused gin. It’s light and fresh. I thought you might like it since you liked the blood orange as well.”
“How many flavors do you have?”
“In the airstream? About eight to ten. My sister and brother-in-law currently have about thirty-three in production.”
“No shit. Where are they located?”
“Northern Cali, Redding.”
Gilly nods. “It’s beautiful up there.”
“It is. The redwoods are incredible to see. They have a lovely home, lots of acreage. When I lost my husband, they offered me a couple acres to build a home there with them. I almost took them up on it.”
“So what stopped you?”
“It wasn’t home.” You look up at the stars above you, the sky stretching endlessly across the desert. “It was nice. It was beautiful. But…”
“Yeah. I get that. When I came back from my last tour, my friends all settled in a suburb of San Diego. They tried getting me to buy a house there too but it didn’t feel right.”
“So how did you end up down here?”
Gilly laughs and shakes his head. “I don’t know if you want to hear the whole story about that. I’m trying to impress you here.”
You feel heat rise to your face at his comment. “Remember, I’m a marine. I’m hard to scare.”
“Alright, here goes.” He finishes the gin in one go and you refill his glass. “I was…a mess when I got back from Afghanistan. I was drinking, getting high, picking fights with guys who were bigger than me.”
“There’s guys bigger than you?”
You both laugh easily at the comment. But you know that feeling too. War is a terrible thing. You do things that you would never dream yourself capable of doing. You remember the first time you had to shoot a teenage boy because he was trying to detonate an IED next to one of the tanks. He still shows up in your dreams at times. Bloody, mangled, accusatory.
“One night in San Diego,” Gilly continues, “after spending the day with my friends, I was so fucked up. I went to the most dangerous part of town, and picked the worst looking bar there was. I bumped a guy who was coming out and…I just swung. I wanted someone to put me out of misery because I couldn’t do it myself. Well, I got a couple good swings in but this guy just leveled me. I woke up propped up outside the bar with a business card tucked in my shirt pocket for Romero Brother’s Scrap Business.”
“So who was it?”
“It was Hank. I called him later that day and he told me that there was a new charter of Mayans being formed down in Santo Padre and they were looking for some muscle. I packed my shit and moved that day.”
“The brotherhood found you.”
“They did.” He takes another sip. “What about you? What’s your brotherhood stateside?”
You finish off your gin, letting the sharp tang of juniper berries and lime sit on your tongue. You could lie and tell him your brotherhood is your family. Or that you still keep in touch with your division. You could make up an elaborate tale of having a brotherhood in every town you visit. But you don’t. Because if anyone is going to understand your situation, it would be the man sitting next to you. The man who just opened his backstory to you with no deceit whatsoever. He deserved the same from you.
“I haven’t found it yet. That’s why I travel so much. I'm still searching for it.”
“You’ll know it when you find it.” Gilly laughs. “As fucking cliche as that sounds.”
Before you can respond to him, a flash of movement draws your attention over to where a few cars and trucks are still parked. You see the Edison lights reflect off Riz and Songbird’s silver jewelry. She still has the black silk dress on, but there are obvious wrinkles in it from being bunched up in Riz’s fists. They still can’t keep their hands off each other, stealing kisses, their hands entwined as they make their way to Riz’s truck. You watch them climb into the cab, Songbird curling up next to him as he starts the truck and pulls out of the lot.
“No,” you say, “that’s not cliche at all.”

Let's see.....let's try Gilly Lopez with
Comforter, Switch and Trickle.
Thank you! Is it time to play truth or dare yet?
Tumblr media
A lil comfort fic starring Gilberto 🥺 And truth or dare is after the pillow fights and fort-making 😉
Tumblr media
You hated crying. Gilly hated it even more, wishing desperately to switch roles and take the pain away from you. There wasn't anything he wouldn't do for you.
He felt helpless, unable to do anything but watch as the tears trickle down your face. Your only source of solace came from when he pulled back the comforter and held you in the safe clutch of his arms.
"I'm sorry I can't do anything else for you, tesora."
When you look up, he finds gratitude and reverence in your eyes, "You're doing a lot more than you think you are."
Send in drabble requests for the sleepover!

By the fire
Gilbert 'Gilly' Lopez x gn!reader, (legit no warnings pure fluff) 661 words
a/n : super duper self induglent Gilly fic cause I can and I did? Life is wild. Take it and eat it my child.
Tagging my number one fans in my Gilly delusion @narcolini @drabbles-mc
As always it's the fictional, not the real deal, enjoy xx (do I have to add this for Mayans too or? Plz don't kiss people who shot people? You get it.)
Tumblr media
‘’ It’s cold. ‘’
‘’ Hm. ‘’ Is all he says, ‘’ I told you to bring a jacket. ‘’
You are tucking yourself into his side, cold fingers weaving their way underneath his kut and then his blouse, seeking the warmth of his skin. Maybe Gilly did tell you to pack an extra jacket earlier and maybe you had said something between the lines of ‘not needing his input’, either way, you knew he would never say no to your hands on his chest, no matter how cold. You press closer to him, grateful that he doesn’t move away even though he is scolding you. It had been a nice day and accepting Coco’s invitation to enjoy a bonfire at his house after dinner had been an easy yes.
‘’ I know… ‘’ you purr back, ‘’ Can’t I just touch my husband because I love him? ‘’
You press your chin on his shoulder, feeling the leather against your skin. He scoffs, pulling the bench the two of you are sitting on slightly closer to the fire.
‘’ Yeah, right. You’re just pulling the husband card because you know I’ll allow it. ‘’
You know he is smiling even though you can’t see his face. You had figured out a long time ago that he had trouble saying no to you, mostly because he didn’t mind it that much, even when he liked to pretend he did. You can hear Coco on your left, telling one of those stories he has told time and time again, smell the marshmallows Letty is roasting on the other side. You love nights like these, when the stress seems to melt away from their shoulders, leaving their tough personalities on the front porch.
‘’ Yo. Stop doing the disgusting married people shit. You’re not even listening to the story. ‘’
‘’ We already know the story, Coco, you won’t shut up about it. ‘’
Letty laughs at Gilly’s response, adding something about being called out on it for once. Before you know it, they are throwing marshmallows at each other, flying over the fire. You smile behind Gilly’s shoulder, a sweet barely missing your head.
‘’ Sorry, Coco, it’s cold is all. I didn’t listen to the big man when he told me to bring a jacket. ‘’
‘’ I can grab you a blanket inside or something. ‘’
You feel Gilly’s hands wrap around your elbows, pulling and bringing you even further into his back, his warmth.
‘’ Nah man, it’s all good. Got it covered. ‘’
He shrugs his shoulders, like it’s nothing, and you are brought into the movement with him. You know he likes it, loves it, even when he jokes it’s part of the deal and that he has to do it because you ask him to. You poke one finger at his rib.
‘’ Look at you all disgusting and married. ‘’
He mocks your sentence back to you and you feel his arm moves under your chin. ‘’ You want to stay warm yes or no? ‘’
‘’ Yes, please. ‘’
How he keeps his heat while you always stay cold is a never-ending mystery. Coco goes back to his story, the same one he was telling before being interrupted. You are gently warming up your hands, fingers sprawled across his hot skin. Gilly turns to you, his nose brushing yours.
‘’ Better? ‘’ He whispers, not daring to interrupt Coco once more.
You nod against his cheek, his stubble scratching your nose as you press a soft kiss where his skin peaks over his collar. You can feel the steady beat of his heart under your palm, smell his aftershave and those mints he eats to cover the cigarettes.
‘’ See, ‘’ Coco stops once again. You catch him rolling his eyes, a smile pulling at his lips as he looks over at Letty, a finger waving towards the both of you, ‘’ Disgusting married people shit. ‘’
