furious that there is ONE hand-drawn frame of wolfwood, and it’s the best his character design looks in the entire show, and it’s right after meryl hit him with a truck

#trigun #mumbling #but also if there was gonna be one representative image of the guy this isn’t a bad choice all things considered #get stampeded. idiot #i’m mostly just mad that he never looks like that again????#it’s like only shot in the show where he has something resembling his actual nose???#honestly the way studio orange combines 2d and 3d animation is pretty clever a lot of the time #but unfortunately it does tend to just really drive home how much better 2d is for Character #there’s a reason everyones faces aren’t quiiiite as cgi as the rest of them

PAGE 2: Panel 1: Vash, drawn in chibi style, reaches over and gently places the donut piece on Wolfwood’s empty plate, utensils resting on the side. Wolfwood, holding his hot black coffee, looks over his glasses annoyed. Dialogue: Vash: “Just a piece?”

Panel 2: Close-up of Vash with pleading eyes and an innocent smile asking “Do it for me?”

Panel 3: Dialogue: Wolfwood: “Okay, but only if you try black coffee.” Vash: “You got yourself a deal!” Wolfwood and Vash toast their coffee mugs in agreement.

PAGE 3 Panel 1: Wolfwood, eyes closed, begrudgingly puts the donut piece in his mouth and eats it. Dialogue: I don’t get what’s so great about this.

Panel 2: Wolfwood looks over to Vash, who is cartoonishly dumping the entire cup of hot coffee in his mouth. He snaps at him “What are you doing?!”

Panel 3: Vash yells, “HOT HOT HOT!!!” Steam rises out of his mouth, and tears stream down his face as he waves his mouth with both hands in an attempt to cool it down. Wolfwood shouts, “You idiot! You’re not supposed to drink it all at once.”

Panel 4: Wolfwood calms down, now concerned if Vash burned himself, and asks “Are you okay?” Vash leans over and chugs a pitcher of water and answers “Mm-mm.” (Which is uh-huh mumbled.)

PAGE 4: Panel 1: Close-up of Wolfwood’s lower face, as he takes off his glasses, no longer concealing part of himself. “Sorry, I should have warned you.”

Panel 2: Wolfwood looks down remorsefully and cradles his coffee mug with both hands. “You need to respect it. Nurse it slowly, let it cool down. Savor the bitter taste.”

Panel 3: Close-up of Wolfwood’s eye in surprise. “It sounds just like you,” Vash observes.

PAGE 5: Panel 1: Wolfwood lights up and laughs, “Ha it sure is!” Panel 2: Vash lightly blushes and smiles softly looking at Wolfwood’s contagious grin. He got him to smile, a win.

PAGE 6: Panel 1: A view from behind, we see Vash and Wolfwood from the back as they continue their banter. Vash sits like a gay, legs everywhere, and Wolfwood straight like a proper Catholic boy. Vash asks “How’s the donut?” Wolfwood responds, “It’s sickeningly sweet…actually it reminds me of you.” Vash blushes, “Aw, Wolfwood! You called me sweet~” Wolfwood denies it, “N-no I didn’t…!” Kuroneko, a black cat, sleeps at the foot of Wolfwood’s bar stool. End ID.]

Climbed up something and got stuck

Cried abt how much he loves Wolfwood, Meryl, and Milly

Kissed Wolfwood, Meryl, and Milly on the head or cheek

Cried about how beautiful the stars were

Picked up and carried around Kuroneko

Hugged Woldwood, Meryl, or Milly and refused to let go and or fell asleep on them

Got himself and the others banned from multiple places

Broke something really expensive

Mistook a stranger for Wolfwood, Milly, or Meryl and clung onto them

Begged Wolfwood give him a piggy back ride and wouldn’t stop begging, said he’d never bother Wolfwood again or ask for anything else. When Wolfwood finally gave in Vash refused to get off his back.

Spent all his remaining money on doughnuts while left unsupervised

I just had an epiphany for an ask!

Who is the most shrimp of the Trigun-group? Not from the skills, but the vibes. Because... skills would mean Vash, due to shrimpcolours.

Bless you for sending this bc I am waiting in line at IKEA and I could use the diversion.

This…this is tricky. Let’s run down the list

Milly: not very shrimp, because she’s tall , but her stun gun reminds me of a mantis shrimp’s punch. She also has one little antenna, which is very shrimp is bugs of her.

Wolfwood: hard outer shell but secretly a softie? Very shrimp! But he smokes, which isn’t shrimp, unless they’re on the grill

Vash: shrimp is bugs and Vash is definitely bugs. Not in abilities, but in the way he scurries. Lots of little feelers (in his hair). He also fries rice, which is shrimp behavior. Red coat is lobster-y

Meryl: very short, which is shrimp. Her bajilion derringers remind me of shrimp legs and pinchers. She doesn’t scurry, but she skitters on occasion. She’s also very bug, but in a different way from Vash.

I think it’s a tie between Meryl and Vash. They’re shrimp to me

Febuwhump day 2: Flinching (Get in the car, Loser, we're going to July City)

Summary: After watching Vash get kicked out of town, and after doing all they can, Meryl can't let him just...go alone. Not like this. So she and Roberto chase him down. (Missing scene from the end of Episode 3 and before episode 4)

Meryl’s eyes scan the horizon, her lips pursed in frustration. Nothing but sand and stars as far as the eyes can see.

“How can one man walk so fast…” she grumbles, leaning out the window to perhaps find something at a different angle. Roberto, at the wheel for once, just snorts.

“The townsfolk told him to get out of dodge, so he did. No reason to stick around after that,” he responds, eyes trained steadily ahead. Meryl huffs, leaning further out the window as if to prove a point. The van suddenly swerves, making her yelp and duck in for a second. She glares at the man as he gives her a raised eyebrow. “You’ll fall out.” Meryl rolls her eyes at him, getting up on her knees to peer out the window again, more carefully this time.

For entirely different and yet not all that different reasons, both Vash and Wolfwood were kids that grew up way too fast compared to every other child on No Man’s Land

Sometimes I like to think about them talking about it— about the physical pain of a body growing too quickly, about looking in a mirror and not recognizing the older face looking back at you, about tripping over your own feet and losing the muscle memory of the height of the stairs you haven’t walked up in a few weeks. About watching other children on the planet have entire childhoods that eek into adventurous teenage years and mellow out into the vitality of young adulthood.

Vash’s extended lifespan naturally has all of the complicated evanescence of outliving everyone around you, but Wolfwood has the unique experience of outliving everyone you were supposed to live alongside. In a strange way, it’s like Wolfwood is the one being outlived, and yet he is the only one who is hyper aware of it. Vash May have memories of returning to a town and finding the toddler he held in his arms is now fully grown while he hasn’t changed at all. Meanwhile Wolfwood finds the kid he could carry on his back is no larger— he feels smaller, even, as Wolfwood can now carry him in one arm, the same way he used to hope a parent may carry him.

They’re two sides of the same coin. Both grown too fast, but for different reasons.

And of course childhood on No Man’s Land is by no means easy. But both Vash and Wolfwood had what little innocent adolescence they had stolen and destroyed.
