A bard’s family reunion
It was already dark when Geralt, accompanied – as he had been for almost a month now – by the troubadour poet Jaskier, reached the inn that would serve as a welcome bed for the night. The pair had been on the road for long enough to be in need of a bed that was not made of branches and rocks and also, most certainly a hot bath, for they both stank.
The red-faced and ill-mannered innkeeper scowled at Geralt – almost a moment too long for the tired witcher before shrugging his shoulders and declaring there to be no room available. If it wasn't for the raucous in the adjoining room, which Geralt presumed to be the main area of the tavern, he may have argued with the man. Instead he lingered, assaulting the the innkeeper with his narrowed eyes, long enough for Jaskier – who had gotten fed up of waiting with the horses and paid a young child a penny to do the job for him – to enter.
At the sight of the bard with, as always, a lute on his back and for reasons that for once did not seem to the witcher to be about him or his mutated existence, the innkeeper suddenly lit up, snapped his fingers and proclaimed there to be a spare room as Jaskier was 'one of those lot'. Geralt took the key offered to him, caring not that the red-faced man was entirely mistaken as whatever was meant by 'that lot' could not apply to the bard who had not even heard of this town, let alone this inn.
“I have a bad feeling about this.” Jaskier whispered to Geralt once they had handed their mounts over to the stable boy. “I'm sure we're going to get ourselves into some sort of trouble.”
“As long as that trouble happens in the morning, after a good nights sleep, I am not going to begrudge a little nuisance.”
“Says you, dear witcher, when it was only upon my own entering the establishment that we were permitted a room and thus it is I who will be in trouble for falsely taking up residence in some other poor fools room!”
“Worry not until you are at least bathed and fed, Jaskier.” Geralt said wearily. “Fed being the priority right now, my stomach is an empty cavern and I fear a monster has taken residence there as it is growling rather loudly.”
The troubadour sighed and gave in, his own stomach empty, he agreed that at least they should eat before they were chucked out onto the street for being imposters.
They entered the main section of the inn, Geralt led but paused when greeted by a room packed to the rafters of merry makers, young and old and of a variety of wealth that the witcher had certainly not expected out here in the countryside. Jaskier appeared beside him, looking equally disheartened at the lack of available seating.
The crowd, bristling with excitement, seemed to be centred on a small area with a raised wooden platform that looked to be stage, although it was currently empty of whatever or rather whomever had drawn such a large gathering. Waves of excited whispers and louder giggles passed over the crowd, ignored entirely by the two men who were still scouring the room for even a small space on a crowded bench.
“Perhaps we ought to take a meal in our room.” Jaskier said, having to practically shout to be heard over the hubbub. Geralt turned to his friend with a frown that begged him to repeat himself. Despite being able to hear the bard clearly if he whispered in a hail storm, he had not being paying attention. “I say, pehaps-”
Jaskier stopped mid-sentence, his face turned pale and twitched it's way into a grimace, the likes of which Geralt had never seen on the bard before. Nose wrinkled, Jaskier turned on his heel and made for the exit, announcing that, under no circumstances, could he stay in this place a moment longer. He cried out when the witcher grabbed him by the shoulder, eager to remind him that this was the only warm bed within a days ride.
“You don't understand.” Hissed Jaskier, squirming free of the witcher's grip.
“It matters not how you have wronged-”
“This is worse, we must leave and quickly!”
“Julian!” Too late, Jaskier blanched again and fell back against Geralt in his usual dramatics – although Geralt was not entirely sure it had not been a genuine faint this time for his friend's face was ugly with sickness and fear before the fellow who had called his name, his real name.
“Julian what on earth are you being so ridiculous for?” He approached, dressed as eccentrically, perhaps more so, than the bard who had returned to an upright position. “Oh forgive me, I forgot you don't use that name in public. Jaskier, I'm so glad you've made it! Everyone will be excited, for they were determined you had not even received the numerous invitations sent to you the even more numerous places you have been sighted in recent months. Indeed I believe I have some money to collect as it was only I who placed a wager in favour of your attendance. I thought that innkeeper had given the room we had kept for you, just in case, away to some imposter! ”
“No.” Jaskier's voice was not much more than a wheeze. He looked from Geralt to the room, desperately looking for an escape, for the fellow was blocking his exit.“No.”
“I beg your pardon?” The fellow, who, had precisely the same cornflower blue eyes and chin, and, though his nose was a different shape entirely, could only be Jaskier's brother, perhaps cousin, but brother was much more likely, such was there resemblance in face and mannerism. Geralt found himself raising an eyebrow. “What on earth do you mean by no?”
“Wh-what do you mean by invitation? I received no such thing.” The witcher thought that perhaps he had, but since he squirrelled away any word from his family, which was always the very last thing Jaskier was willing to discuss, he presumed any invitation was lost in the pile of unopened letters the bard thought Geralt did not know about.
“Then this is a happy coincidence! Destiny! Wonderous are the gods who have brought you here on the day of our great reunion!”
“Reunion?” Geralt smiled unpleasantly and Jaskier glared equally as hideously at him.
“Yes friend! Do not worry, brother-mine, it matters not that as usual your manners are lacking, for this man needs no introduction. White hair, yellow eyes, two swords! He could only be Geralt of Rivia! The white wolf! The witcher! The source of all the ballads and such that have made my dear brother famous across these lands. A good friend I believe and thus a friend to us all and certainly welcome at our table for the festivities!
“To answer your question, good witcher, this week is a grand celebration, a reunion of now all of the siblings of Lettenhove, in honour of our good father's birthday, rest his soul. We have commandeered this fine tavern and indeed the town hall and will be playing every night from now until midsummer – Papa's actual birthday if you would believe it – where we shall host a mighty feast and concert!”
“And, if it's not too rude to ask, for my dear Jaskier has failed to inform me of any of his familial relations,” Another, even more hideous glare was earned for the most subtle of Geralt's sarcastic tones, known only to Jaskier for being sarcastic and taken entirely sincerely by anyone else. “How many siblings are you?”
“Fourteen, including Ju- ah Jaskier here and myself.” When Geralt coughed, choking on his own surprise, Jaskier himself stepped in.
“We do not, of course all have the same mother.” He said sneeringly, the sneer was directed at Geralt alone.
“Of course, can you imagine such a poor lady?”
“No, Papa was, as I am, quite the ladies man and a good deal of my siblings were born outside of wedlock. Once he did marry, he remained faithful, I might add, for I do not wish you to think poorly of the man.”
“No, though I do wonder if there is more of us out there.”
“By the gods, John, I hope not!” Jaskier shuddered, finally naming the man in front of him. “I shall explain, dear witcher, but first, brother-mine, I am in incredible need of a drink and whatever passes for food in a place such as this.”
“Certainly! Of course, how rude of me! Come this way!” John waved his hand, much in the same way as Jaskier did when he led Geralt, sweeping and extravagantly. The witcher wondered who learned the technique from who.
Once seated on possibly the most packed table, filled with not only platters of roast meats, steaming fish and an assortment of bread and vegetable dishes, ale tankards and dull goblets full of wine that Geralt immediately knew had corked long ago, but also with at least seven of Jaskier's siblings. Their faces a strange mixture of the bard's familiar features and some that were not nearly as familiar nor pleasant, yet suited each face well. All had the same cornflower blue eyes and all were fixed on either the witcher or his friend, who by all accounts was sulking.
Another sibling had drawn the attention of most of the crowd that filled the rest of the tavern, sitting on stage with a lute, she sung gracefully and played just as well as Jaskier himself. A few, mostly young women of varying levels of beauty, still had their eyes on the table at which Geralt now sat. Eyes on the handsome men there, Jaskier still apparently judged as the most beautiful as most now gazed longingly at him, despite the grimace on his face.
He ignored them all until his friend elbowed him gently, knowing a pretty face or two would soon improve his mood – which it did, tremendously, the bard's grin quickly returned to his face as his winks sent women swooning and blushing. Geralt himself was simply relishing in not being the centre of attention and disgust, there were far too many pleasant young men and indeed women at the table for anyone to notice him and his yellow eyes, let alone be disgusted by them. Save one girl, when Geralt met her gaze, she smiled and nodded faintly to him.
“And now, dear friend, I shall endeavour to explain my peculiar family.” Jaskier interrupted the exchange, now feeling merrier having quickly emptying two mugs of beer, a third in a hand he swung about to draw attention. “My Papa, Joshua Austin Pankratz, seventh Viscount of Lettenhove, like myself -”
“And your all of your siblings.” A woman who looked to be in her early thirties with the same soft curl as Jaskier in her auburn hair, holding a babe in one hand and a turkey leg in the other, interrupted. Geralt had the impression that this was not the first time she had had to remind Jaskier to include more than just himself.
“Yes, like myself and all of my wonderful siblings was a bard, a troubadour, a poet, a man of music and although talented with many an instrument, favoured, like myself and my siblings, the lute. Before his own father passed away, he roamed the countryside and courts, playing to much applause and gaining fame which rivals my own. He also found his way to the bed of many a woman and some of those women provided him with gifts in the form of my older brothers and sisters.” A few of the men and women in the middle of the table nodded, one, the redhead with the babe, rolled her eyes so viciously she appeared to strain them. Jaskier ignored her.
“Papa,” Jaskier continued. “Was most unhappy when he was forced to give up his life as a bard and return to the family estate in Lettenhove to settle down as the Viscount. Soon after he wed my lovely mother, may she rest peacefully.”
“If your lord father had to settle down, then why are you still wondering the countryside like a pauper?” Geralt asked and his friend sneered again, turning his head from Geralt's raised eyebrows and questioning gaze.
“Our dear brother,” Said John, chuckling as he bit into a rather large slice of spiced pork pie, which caused him to choke, spluttering astonishingly elegantly into a handkerchief until the man beside him gave him a rather firm smack on the shoulders. “Thank you Johan – where was I? Oh yes, our brother, himself now the Viscount of Lettenhove, has a rather splendid advantage that our dear departed Papa did not. Juli- oh pox, do forgive me brother, Jaskier here, has a wealth of siblings with whom he shares the responsibilities that come with his title, leaving him Viscount in name only for most of the year, whilst we all take turns in running our little corner of the world. All of us except Jennifer, who is still too young, that is.”
“How did you trick your family into such an arrangement?” Geralt directed the question to his friend.
“Oh, before Papa passed away, we all took turns in threatening to give up the title and pass it on to the next sibling until all that was left was poor little Jennifer, at the time was still inside her mother's belly. A late surprise that one, didn't know Papa still had it in him. Anyway, it was he that suggested that, although I, being the oldest son borne of marriage, would officially be the Viscount, we split the responsibility – bastard or not. Works out to less than a month a year, which in order to keep our land and our money and so on, really isn't that much hassle, even for a group of travelling poets. ”
“Quite so.” John agreed, as did a few of the others.
“Come to think of it, who's in charge if you are all here?” Jaskier asked with a strangely concerned tone.
“Oh, Jac's husband, just for the week.” John replied.
“I suppose that is fine.” Sniffed Jaskier. “So anyway, we take it turns to, you know, be the Viscount, in order of age. Johan is the oldest, sat beside John there, then Judith at the end of the table, John, who you know, Jessica, currently performing and younger only by a few months, Jemima, born of my mother but before she wed my father, who is over there with a babe. How many have you now, dear sister?”
“Fetty here is the fith.”
“Goodness, are you also trying to create enough children for an orchestra?” Jemima scowled but was distracted by patting the babe back to sleep.
“Yes Geralt, our dear father realised at some point that a few more children and he may well have his own little troupe or orchestra. The joke is that we all turned out to love the lute and the lute alone.”
“Except for Jennifer.”
“Indeed, except for Jennifer who plays,” The bard let out a sigh which was echoed by a few of more vibrantly dressed siblings. “the triangle.”
A snotty-nosed and rather mucky girl, who could be no older than eight or nine, sat on the end of the table, grinned suddenly and it was only then that Geralt saw the resemblance to Jaskier. She snuffled her nose, which was in desperate need of wiping, and held up said instrument. A piece of thin metal bent into the shape of a triangle, hanging from a string. The girl hit it with a metal stick, rather triumphantly and Geralt smiled at her for ignoring her siblings sighs and being proud of her own talents. Johan beside her patted her on the back and pulled a rag from his pocket for her to wipe her little nose on.
“So after Jemima,” Jaskier was now determined to finish his explanations. “Came myself. Then, Jacob, Jacqueline, Jasper, who is doing a terrible job of wooing that poor lady over yonder, and Jane, beside me.
“And then, my dearest darling mother sadly left this world, the pox took her. Papa was most unhappy for a long time, until he found Sasha, whom he wed after some time, much to all of our relief. Afterwards came Joel and Jeremiah and finally, our very, very late little egg, Jennifer.” Jennifer grinned again, puffing up proudly as if she had planned her own conception.
The evening continued and amidst eating and drinking and bouts of applause, Geralt heard more and more about Jaskier's family. A hundred different tales from when they were young, including the day Jennifer was born and they all stood on the battlements with their father and played their lutes in unison until they were shouted down by the nursemaid for disturbing the new baby. It did however, become a tradition that they met once a year and played together on the battlements, now joined by little Jennifer who hit her triangle enthusiastically in time with the others.
The witcher heard other stories, from all the siblings, who came and went, sometimes in large groups, back and forth from the stage. Family squabbles and disagreements, silly spats and fights – some of which were still unresolved –  as well as many adventures they had happily shared and heart warming tales of happy times.
Stories of rule as Viscount, and of when Jaskier had vanished for almost an entire year, which turned out to be entirely Geralt's fault. He was forgiven but warned not to occupy his friend's time in late spring again. He heard too, happy stories of love and siblings supporting one another and soon Geralt understood the family to, despite Jaskier's half-hearted protests, truly care for one another.
Jaskier himself, now rather drunk on beer and corked wine, seemed to be the biggest champion of all his siblings, cheering them on and arguing – sometimes a little too aggressively – with them when he was praised above them. Truly, it seemed to Geralt that he loved them dearly, each and every one. Even if the bard ended up as the butt of many a joke, now released of any pretence, he laughed along side his siblings, heartedly and with no sign of sourness.
At one point Jaskier announced that he had in fact received the invitation and had pushed Geralt to come through here, despite pretending to have no knowledge of this place, when indeed he knew it to be the only inn around and that, by the time they reached it, Geralt would be sick of sleeping outside. The witcher himself laughed most heartedly, declaring that he had been played most cunningly, which in that moment he realised he had. He even joined in with the applause when Jaskier stood up and bowed to the cheers and laughter of his siblings for tricking a witcher.
When the dawn approached, Geralt had the pleasure of carrying Jaskier to bed. He was surprised that all the siblings, even Jennifer – though she had been asleep on Johan's lap for many hours – stayed until the innkeeper told them he must prepare for the day that had already arrived. It was only when they were on the stairs and finally alone, that Geralt asked Jaskier why he had hidden his family for so long and why even when they had arrived, he had tried to run.
“I want to be Jaskier, not Julian Alfred Pankratz, when I'm with you. And I thought that if you met my family that would change.” The bard said, his speech so slurred that Geralt could only just understand what he was saying. “They're good people, a good family, but I dislike that I'm a Viscount. I'm a bard, Geralt! A bard and only a bard! I've only used my title to get you out of trouble – like that time they caught you swindling the crown because of that red haired witch.” Geralt met Jaskier's blurred gaze and his friend began to giggle. “What I'm saying is,” He dribbled when his laughter had subsided. “The person you are friends with is Jaskier, troubadour, poet, womaniser, a man whom doesn't have a family with fourteen siblings and an increasing number of nieces and nephews. A man who can stand tall on his achievements, unique and talented and not one of many and not even the best among them.”
Jaskier's voice grew quiet and Geralt shook his head at such a notion.
“Dear friend, for you are truly my friend, perhaps the only true friend I have. Not because of your musical talent, nor your proficiency at bedding women and certainly not because you are a man without a family – though I did have you down as an only child, I must admit. No, dear, dear Jaskier, you are my friend for many reasons, your courage for one. You have been to places and taken part in things more dangerous than any normal man and from what I gather, certainly any of your siblings would readily involve themselves in. You have also saved me more times and in more ways than I can count. You are loyal, a horrible wretch, hilarious and utterly unique and with qualities I cannot even put into words, for I am no poet, but all of which make you my very dear friend and that will not change whether you are lonesome Jaskier or Julian Alfred Pankratz, Viscount de Lettenhove, one of fourteen or even a hundred siblings, all of whom play the lute with the exception of Jennifer who plays the triangle. You are my friend Jaskier, and always will be.”
The bard looked at Geralt with eyes shimmering with tears and, just as Geralt though he would speak, Jaskier turned his head an vomited into a plant pot.

Falling (or, Aldhelm + Efficiency Kink)
Aethelflaed x Aldhelm, 2k, rated M (read on ao3)
written for @volvaaslaug @skatingthinandice and the rest of this tiny fandom <3
Lady Aethelflaed is a capable leader. In fact, she is an excellent leader. And if Aldhelm is honest with himself, it’s becoming a bit of a problem for him.
He’s alone with the Lady of Mercia, not an infrequent occurrence of late. She’s finishing the necessary business of the day, and the way she handles the most insignificant chore with diligence fascinates him as much now as it did when he first began to notice. He’s come to understand that her attentiveness and care are only surpassed by her cleverness.
She's just…good at this.
He had maintained high hopes for Aethelred for so long, but Aethelflaed has more natural authority in her little finger than her husband does in his entire body. Years of grooming and guidance have done little to improve the Lord of Mercia’s temper in the end.
Aldhelm is almost ashamed to recall his first impression of Aethelflaed. He had thought her a naive (though lovely) girl. But he has come to realize she is stronger and more intelligent than he’d given her credit, which of course cast her husband’s increasingly poor choices into starker contrast. He cannot ignore that her skills and disposition are infinitely better suited to ruling than Aethelred’s.
On reflection, it had been foolish of him to think Alfred’s daughter would be anything less than competent. But the more he reflects, the more he realizes it is not just her capable hands and mind. It’s that Aethelflaed genuinely enjoys her role as well. She seems to derive pleasure from every task accomplished, no matter how inconsequential. She’s a brilliant negotiator, whether speaking with the ealdormen about a matter of state or Aelfwynn about what time she was expected to be in bed. The satisfied smile she allows herself after a small victory is enchanting.
It was not so long ago that Aldhelm had considered disregarding Aethelred’s wishes equivalent to treason. He had thought Mercia’s best hopes were bound up in the man, young but burgeoning with potential. Now, Aldhelm’s definition of treason is somewhat more flexible. In fact, he is increasingly sure that his loyalty no longer lies with the Lord of Mercia. To be loyal to Mercia is to be loyal to Aethelflaed.
He had not planned on Aethelflaed endearing herself to him in this way. And he had certainly not planned on falling in love with her.
The realization happens gradually, over a matter of years. But when he finds himself at the point of no return, he is as surprised as if it had happened overnight. Aethelflaed could command him to the ends of the earth, and he would obey without a second thought.
Of course, she would not. She understands his value to her and to Mercia and therefore keeps him close—first, as a liability to be assessed, eventually as a friend to be trusted. Despite his ill-advised confession several months ago, Aethelflaed does not seem to think less of him. If in fact she does, she will not show it.
She is simply too practical for that.
And her efficiency is unparalleled.
In a single afternoon, she will complete a list of duties Aethelred had left unaddressed for weeks on end. Her records are meticulous, her attention to detail exquisite. Her desk is filled with neat stacks of parchment covered in her clean, precise handwriting.
Watching her take charge of Mercian affairs with a careful eye and steady hand, it is impossible to ignore that his feelings have evolved beyond intrigue.
Aldhelm is undeniably smitten.
“Did you have something to add, Aldhelm?”
Startled from his reverie, he realizes he’s staring. Aethelflaed looks back at him with concern. Her eyebrows are raised, causing a few lines to appear on her forehead, and he cannot help but love the softness in her expression.
“Apologies, my Lady. I had meant to inquire after the delegation to Tamworth.”
“We’re to send twenty men—unless you think a larger party necessary.”
“No, I believe not.”
Twenty is the perfect number, of course.
Aethelflaed narrows her eyes, leaning back in her seat to have a better look at him.
“You seem to have something else on your mind, Aldhelm.”
He would have to work harder to conceal his feelings if he was to comport himself appropriately. A challenge that was growing in difficulty by the day.
“It’s late. Shall we discuss the city fortification project or leave that until tomorrow?”
She huffs a laugh.
“Aldhelm, I have just told you that is finished. Have you been listening at all?”
He curses himself for his wandering thoughts. “Are you well?”
He is not. He is failing. Her competence is interfering with his own.
“I am merely distracted, Lady. My apologies.”
Her gaze remains fixed on him as she sets down her pen, picking up the parchment she’d been writing on and blowing gently to dry the ink.
He clenches his jaw reflexively, and she cocks her head—her amusement compounding, he can only assume. He shifts his gaze to the tapers on her desk, which had nearly burned out.
“Distracted indeed. How odd. What could possibly be more pressing than the matters before us?”
Aethelflaed is teasing him now, he is sure of it.
She rises to her feet, sweeping her eyes up and down his body with an expression of curious detachment. It’s maddening.
“I had something on my mind, Lady. A conversation with your husband earlier.”
The mention of Aethelred does not appear to disarm her.
“My husband solicits too much of your time these days,” she sighs. “But he is not here now, and so I request your full attention. I have one other proposal I would like your opinion on.”
Aldhelm knows that he ought to end their conversation, walk away, but he cannot.
“I would be happy to advise you, Lady, of course.”
Aethelflaed is advancing towards him now, hands clasped earnestly before her. Her fingers are slightly stained with ink.
“I believe we have both been under too much stress lately, Aldhelm. I have a plan that may provide relief.”
“I’m sure it’s an excellent plan,” Aldhelm replies, voice slightly hoarse. He clears his throat as subtly as he can.
“I believe it is,” she says nonchalantly, and without breaking eye contact slips her fingers into the belt at his waist, pulling him towards her gently.
He could not have protested then even if his mouth had not gone completely dry.
“I think you will find it mutually rewarding.”
Aldhelm fights a smile of disbelief (was this a dream?) and glances towards the door.
“Lady, we may be discovered.”
The corners of her mouth twitch and she places a hand on his chest, no doubt able to feel his heart beating wildly within.
“You know as well as I do, Aldhelm, that the household is far more loyal to me than to my husband.”
She is looking up at him with lips slightly parted—soft, inviting—and he tentatively rests his hands at her waist.
The last time they’d been in this physical proximity he’d been dying (or so he thought) and she had been unable or unwilling to reciprocate his affection.
Whatever had changed between then and now, he does not care to question it in the moment.
Still, he finds himself making another objection.
“You’re married, my lady.”
What a supremely stupid thing to say.
Her mouth quirks into a smile.
“I am aware, Aldhelm. That doesn’t stop my husband from pursuing pleasure, and it won’t stop me.”
Aldhelm has no defenses left, no arguments, no thoughts in his head other than how much he desires her.
He gives in and cups her jaw, kissing her.
She tastes sweet and warm like summer rain. It’s intoxicating.
He’s not sure if he’s still breathing, or if he even cares. He tightens his hold on her waist, and she cards her fingers through his hair.
He would probably sell his soul to remain in this moment forever. Dark thoughts like this were never far from his mind when she was near.
“You’ve no idea the effect you have on me, my lady,” he murmurs.
He can feel her smiling as she kisses him back.
“I should think it’s fairly obvious at this point that I do.”
She’s pressed against him now, melting any self-control he had left. His baser instincts take over.
They’re stumbling into the next room, and she’s steering him towards the bed.
Apprehension and desire course through him at once. Never had he imagined that this wildest dream of his could be a reality.
Aethelflaed is undressing him, then directing him to sit as she slips out of her own garments. The slight golden warmth of her skin fades to creamy white where she exposes the most intimate parts of herself.
She pushes him onto his back and straddles him, her slick warmth pressed against his cock. Their eyes meet as she shifts, and—most incredible of all—he can see his own exhilaration reflected in her expression.
She leans forward, her lips brushing against his ear as she murmurs, “What do you think of my plan so far, Aldhelm?”
It’s almost cruel. He’s wound so tight already he might have snapped there.
He can’t answer with words, nor does he need to. Their kisses deepen, and she bites her lip to contain a moan as he brushes a finger against her opening. He slips inside of her and his breath hitches—she’s so warm and wet and perfect.
She’s building rhythm now, hips forward, grinding against him. She sweeps her braids behind her with a shrug of her shoulders, exposing the fullness of her breasts.
He locates the bundle of nerves beneath her thatch of hair, synchronizing the movement of his hand with the movement of her hips. She digs her nails into his chest briefly and keens in pleasure, arching her back. He draws circles, tighter and tighter. Coming with a shudder she cries out again, her face flushed with triumph. Then with a gesture, she commands and he obeys, switching places so that he’s on top.
Her legs encircle him. Aldhelm slides a hand from the tender spot behind her knee down her thigh to her ass. She’s laying back, eyes shut, breathing in gentle gasps as she matches the rocking of his hips.
By the time he comes, she’s moaning louder than before. His forehead is pressed against her and he can feel the sweat that beads her brow. Her walls quiver against him as he finishes, and he’s sure he’s just returned the favor again even as he’s satiated.
He lands next to her and catches his breath. It’s a moment before he gathers the courage to look at her, but when he does she’s grinning. The light in her eyes would make him blush if he were capable of such a thing.
In his wickedness, he cannot help but think she’d never fucked her husband like that.
Aethelflaed turns on her side, breathing deeply as she holds his gaze. He splays a hand over the curve of her exposed hip, holding it there for a moment, then moves it gently up to her waist.
“We made quite good work of that, Lord.”
She hasn’t called him that before. She’s watching to see how he reacts.
A laugh escapes him. He can’t help it.
Aethelflaed closes her eyes, still smiling.
“You’re a strange man, Aldhelm. But I have grown fond of you.”
He’s brushing the hair from her shoulders, rolling a silky strand between his fingers. He does not know how long their tryst will last, or if it will ever be repeated. He will do everything in his power to remember every detail.
There’s a freckle below her left breast. He runs his thumb gently along the contour. Her skin is prickling—the room has grown cold—and he pulls a blanket over them.
Aethelflaed rolls her head back to look at him with heavy-lidded eyes. She radiates contentment. His own limbs are heavy with it too. He pulls her close to him, their noses bump. Incredibly, she does not tell him to leave.
“Did you have a second phase of your plan you’d like to enact this evening, Lady, or shall we reconvene tomorrow?”
It’s Aethelflaed’s turn to laugh.
Laying near her in this state is restorative, thrilling. He’s bold enough to kiss her again, and the taste is sweeter than before.
“I believe we may reconvene tomorrow,” she murmurs and rests her head on his chest. “For now, let us rest.”
He presses a kiss to the top of her head.
He will linger in this perfect moment as long as he’s permitted.

July Roundup
Lifestyle:
I’ve been getting back into running this summer. It’s been about 4 years since I’ve done any serious running, and I have been made painfully aware of the differences in my body at age 29 compared to 25. My knees hurt more, I need to attend to stretching much more seriously than I used to. I’m coming at the task with better self-knowledge than last time, though; I know how far and how fast I’ve been capable of pushing, and I find an enormous amount of comfort and strength from that familiarity.
I’ve also been applying to jobs, a process which started as nauseatingly daunting, but has gradually settled into just a regular chore of the week (ideally chore of the day, if I’m to keep up with new years resolutions). Getting a resume mushed into a satisfying shape has felt nice, as has getting together a form cover letter that I know hasn’t hurt my chances of getting my foot in doors. Annoyance Boxes checked off, and the rest is getting familiar with the rest of the grind. Interviews have been and will be the same process.
Games:
I’ve also been playing a lot of Sekiro. I’ve always “liked” Fromsoft games, but it’s been rare that I’ve been able to justify the time investment. There’s an appeal in the structure, endless chances to bash myself against a problem until it clicks, being able to run drills when stuck or inadequate (and there is a hook in the inadequacy; nothing frustrates me more than being unable to Just figure out a solution, or requiring too much time to get there. I have a tense relationship with time and deadline pressure. Impatience is one of my greatest vices). So with school finished, I’m diving into this as a treat to myself. The systems are fun, and the camera is so fucking awful that I get unreasonably angry about it. One thing I always do with these games that I think is anathema to a lot of their fans is to spoil myself on what I’m up against. In dark souls I would always have open area maps, rather than try to navigate the combat and exploration simultaneously. It put my mind at ease, I didn’t like the discomfort of the tension of untriggered surprise. And with Sekiro, I know roughly the zones I’m up against, I’m not above watching videos of the boss fights to learn the proper counters etc. No shame, no honor, that’s not what I get out of these games, really.
As with running, so with jobsearch, so with Sekiro, the method is diligence, the appeal is the pleasure of feeling my improvement over time. There is nothing more exciting to me than casually accomplishing something that I know would have annihilated me only a short time ago. I can finish 2 miles in 20 minutes, I want to get it down to 15. This also means the videogame tends to lose out on the priorities list—if I’m wanting to dedicate myself to practice, there’s almost always a different outlet that’d be better outcomes in the long run
very 8 of pentacles mood overall, lately.
Books:
I’m almost done with Pynchon’s Against the Day, which had taken up all of my Reading attention span this month. Unless it does something in the final 8% to lose me hard, it’ll probably clock in as my 2nd favorite of his stuff, behind Gravity’s Rainbow.  Anarchism as expressed against American mining companies, European empires, and the Mexican state; searches for a lost paradise city; warfare between schools of mathematics; the nature of Light. At face value, it feels closest to Gravity’s Rainbow and Mason & Dixon, compared to the rest of his work (I know there’s a lot of subtext and referencing going over my head with all of these in terms of both history and literature; I noticed a lot of reviews of AtD focused about the variety of genre style work that he’s pulling from in certain sections, nearly all of which is lost on me. It has, however, been very fun to me that I’m able to keep up with the mathematic academia infighting depicted in this). There’s a “fairy tales coming to life” quality to all three, if instead of Grimms’ stories it’s historical models of the world: Supersonic rockets wreck the flow of pavlovian cause & effect, the destruction of natural landscape in the course of linear surveying becomes a direct conduit for a massive influx of evil energy, quaternion mathematics casting time as real and space as imaginary allow a yogi to contort himself out of sight and into the imaginary plane. The aether is experimentally disproven in the beginning of Against the Day’s timeline, which doesn’t stop holdout engineers and mystics from working wonders with it.
It feels like there’s about as much going on in here as GR, but where GR is claustrophobically overstuffed (which is also part of the reason it’s a better book) and Mason & Dixon gets kind of plodding, the material here is given space to breathe, without losing momentum. It probably helps that the characters in this are a.) numerous, and b.) unusually solid as far as Pynchon goes.
It’s also got many great examples of something else I really like about Pynchon, which is that he is willing to commit 110% to incredibly stupid jokes. There’s an Elmer Fudd reference in here that completely knocked me on my ass.
Viz:
Watched the Bo Burnham netflix, which was mostly pretty good, though I’m completely out of patience for ostentations self-awareness or fake debate where the ~comedian~ who’s concerned about being ~white privileged mannn~ feels guilty he might be ~taking up space~, doesn’t know that he ~deserrrrves it~... out of patience because I already know what he did with that guilt (if genuine) — he didn’t scrap the project, he released the fucking thing anyway. What am I to do with this, Bo Burnham? Would you like my permission? Would you like an “it’s ok dude” from people of marginalized groups within your audience? Why am I watching along for a decision you’ve quite literally already made? I don’t trust displays of vulnerability before an audience of this size.
Also watched through I Think You Should Leave, which... sure it’s funny, and also very effective at making me uncomfortable, which is clearly what it’s aiming to do, but. I don’t really get why it’s got such a strong cultural draw within the online spheres I’m normally checked into. Saw some discourse about how the quotability is somehow distinct from regular memeing, which, alright get over yourselves jesus christ.
speaking of flavors of the month, watched 50 shades and lmao. I’ve been told by a trusted source the books are worse which is hilarious.
also speaking of flavors of the [century], S.O. and I have been doing a rewatch of pre-MCU comic book movies, which has been some fascinating anthropology. It meant, though, that we had to sit through howard the duck, an absolutely wretched film. Other highlights so far: willem dafoe power rangers acting, the soundtrack on affleck daredevil (incl a fuckin choice Evanescence exercise montage), Blade & Blade II still hold up.
We’ve also made it to the final season of pre-reboot xfiles. Duchovny’s mostly gone from this last season, replaced largely by robert patrick of T1000 fame, who is a better actor but a worse character, dude’s basically just A Cop. The writing’s weirdly probably better than the last couple Duchovny seasons, but the show doesn’t work without him — his bad acting was the main thing keeping things together, the tone’s all off now.

In what do you think Robbe and Sander balance each other?
Oh this is a lovely question! (Sorry it took me a little while to answer)
I think there will be much more to add to this over the next episode and a half but, so far, I think the main things are similar across the parallel universes but there are a few specific I think, too
We’ve seen the type of relationship Sander and Britt had. It was toxic. This wasn’t the type of relationship Even and Sonja etc had. They had an unhealthy relationship but Britt is entirely not at all able (currently) to have a loving relationship with someone like Sander. He is a complex, varied and beautiful soul but he has a vulnerability and the way she has treated that vulnerability is close to unforgivable (in terms of Sander). But the way it has been presented and the way Robbe has been presented shows why Robbe is Sander’s person and why the universe chose him, you know? He has within him a capacity to love Sander exactly as her deserves and vice versa. I think that’s a huge one.
Robbe is affectionate. He is hugely clingy and cuddly and likes to touch. We’ve seen him from the very beginning wrapping his arms around Sander, pressing himself close to Sander, resting his head on him, cuddling up to him, climbing on him, sitting on him, being lifted by him, jumping on his back, stroking his hair, kissing his forehead, stroking his arms, clinging to his back, refusing to stop kisses... I mean that’s a genuine list!!! Sander seems like he is really into that. They are clearly hugely compatible there because Sander is also pretty demonstrative with his love. But we’ve seen how much he likes to be cuddles and wrapped up but also how much he likes to manhandle Robbe... They’re pretty well matched in that department!
Robbe listens and appreciates. Britt called Sander stupid on insta and his jokes dumb... Sander is a passionate soul. He has varied interests but clearly has a love for Bowie and the way, when they first met, Robbe listened and was fascinated which meant Sander felt ok to reach out and pass on his playlist... which Robbe proved he was listening to and then at the weekend they were listening to it together as they lay in bed. Sander clearly feels able to express his passions with Robbe and they’re well received. Plus, Robbe is so appreciative of Sander’s art. He adores the mural (even if it was a shock!) so much he set it as his desktop, he loved the drawing, he stared in awe at Sander in his art class and called Sander “our artist”. That’s a really lovely thing for someone so passionate like Sander to have around. It’s so encouraging and sweet. That encouragement and support comes from Sander too as we’ve seen he’s keen to make sure Robbe studies.
They’re forgiving souls. Sander listened to Robbe after he’d screwed up. He was willing to give him 5 minutes. He had this gut feeling about Robbe and he, himself, understands what it is to mess up and not mean it at all. Robbe is the same. He discarded Britt and any confusion and still comforted Sander as they walked away from school. He tried to find ways to understand why sander behaved as he did after the attack. They are gentle with each other but also not afraid to press for stuff in some ways but I think they will both improve here a lot especially Robbe.
They make each other laugh and smile. They tease and play. That’s a good balance of personalities especially when they are able to do it in intimate moments. That’s true intimacy.
Sander recognises stuff about Robbe without him needing to say much. He said he knew Robbe had had a bad few months... and he tried to introduce a tradition for him. He makes Robbe feel wanted and special and loved and valued, where maybe he hasn’t before. Robbe hasn’t experienced home and comfort and support for a lot of his life and he misses his mamma, has been left somewhat alone. Sander tries to promise forever and helps make a home, surprises him, prioritises him (obviously discounting their struggles). You can see he genuinely cares about Robbe in these little personal but hugely meaningful ways.
There are many other ways but these are the ones I thought of at the moment. I can’t wait to see how the last 2 episodes develop as we will absolutely be able to add to this!

SnK Chapter 127 Poll Results
The chapter 127 poll closed with 1,993 responses. This month’s poll results were compiled by /u/alooulla, Crunchwrap, Giovata, @momtaku, @shifter-lines and  /u/staraves.
Thank you, as always, for your support!
RATE THE CHAPTER 1,888 responses
Tumblr media
It’s time to get back on the hype train, y’all! Chapter 127 was a vast improvement over last month’s reception with close to 90% of respondents viewing it favorably.  By way of comparison, with chapter 126, that number was only 55%.
Fixed everything I didn't like about 126
This chapter was top quality. Jean and Yelena were great this chapter. Loved Reiner and Annie helping each other. But please Isayama stop torturing Reiner :(
Amazing and I agree with Hange completely
Wow, such an awesome chapter! It's been a while since a chapter like this has made me put my thinking cap to analyze the scenes in more detail and come up with theories regarding what's coming next!
Are there any words sweeter than "Save the world"?
Calm before the Storm in the SNK fashion
Finally Kiyomi! And some talk between the parts. Seeing the dead SC veterans made me cry a lot. I still care about them so much
I still don't like that the SC are just up and going forces with the Warriors, who are nothing more than unforgivable monsters, BUT I can admit the execution this month was much better.
Pretty damn tasty this month, not gonna lie. Hope to see more of that Floch in next month's dish, chef Isayama is a genius.
Guess you could say Gabi haters got a "kick" out of this month
Hahaha
WHICH OF THE FOLLOWING WAS YOUR FAVORITE MOMENT? 1,938 responses
Tumblr media
Hello JeanMarco fandom? Are you there? This is the fandom of 2020 telling you it’s time to come back to the series if only for a month.
It’s been 84 years but Jean finally learning the dark truth of Marco’s death topped our list of favorite moments with over one-third of the fandom selecting it (35.7%). “Yelena the shit stirrer” was second with 20.6%.This Jean-focused chapter netted Jean the third and fourth favorite spot as well. “Jean and Magath’s argument” and “Jean’s idealistic daydream” tied for third with 7.9% each.
"Erwin being implied to not support the rumbling" I wanted to choose this as one of my favorite scenes along with Hange's "I don't support genocide" <3
The biggest highlight of the chapter definitely has to be Jean punching Reiner upon learning that the latter was responsible for Marco's death. Ever since the truth about Marco's death was revealed a while back, I was awaiting the scene of Jean learning the truth about Marco's death and how he would react towards Reiner regarding it
Why is nobody talking about Yelena and Pieck pleaseeeee
I didn’t think it was possible to love Jean more than I already did but this chapter proved me wrong. I was so glad he finally learned what happened to Marco and at least got that closure.
Loved Yelena messing with everyone's emotions and calling out the truths that nobody wanted to recognize
Jean punching Reiner was my favorite moment of the chapter. Finally that evil fuck is getting what he deserves for what he's done.
The only people Yelena didn’t drag were Pieck and Falco. She has good taste.
Hange acknowledging their failure to stop Eren from getting to this point is 👌👌👌
Jean's and Magath's debate gave the vibes of 'what's older, the chicken or the egg' and I'm living for it lol
I actually found Jean’s dream sequence to be a little unsettling, maybe because of Isayama’s style of not drawing certain facial features clearly, like the eyes. It was almost more foreboding to me than sweet, peaceful, or nice to see.
My favorite moment was the reaction shot where Mikasa was going to charge Annie and everyone is freaking out but the last panel is Levi just sleeping.
I seriously want to see Mikasa vs Annie XD
Jean complementing Hanjis stew is the best moment in the manga
WHO WAS THIS CHAPTER’S MVP? 1,938 responses
Tumblr media
With Jean receiving the bulk of the focus and development it’s not a huge surprise that Jean (66.2%) was the landslide winner for chapter MVP, with Yelena (9.9%) as a distant, and we mean distant, second. What is a surprise is that Hange’s culinary creation (9.7%) beat out Hange themself (8.9%) for the number 3 spot.
STAN JEAN KIRSTEIN
yelena best girl 😔💕
I already knew that Hange was a queen, but I'm genuinely surprised with Annie too. While the first made a big part of the fandom shut up (genocide is never justifiable) the second one admitted her crimes and understood Mikasa better than anyone.
I love the chapter. It was satisfying to see Jean find out the truth to Marcos death.
I loved how Jean got focus and how he called everyone out on their bullshit.
Mikasa being a badass again. My girl<3
Hange’s stew!!!!
I love the chapter. It was satisfying to see Jean find out the truth to Marcos death.
I loved how Jean got focus and how he called everyone out on their bullshit.
Awesome, go Hanji ! And Levi ! Though he didn't do anything.
I just want some of Hanji's stew
DO YOU THINK THE GIRL IN JEAN’S DAYDREAM WAS MIKASA? 1,943 responses
Tumblr media
Was it Mikasa? Was it a girl with exactly the same hairstyle and scar who just happens to look like an older version of her? Most fans seem to think it was very clearly intended to be Mikasa with solid numbers. Or at the very least, considering the eyes were hidden (a common manga trope to confuse identities), proof that Jean has a definite type.
That woman in Jean's fantasy is very clearly Mikasa, you can even see the scar in one of the panels lol
I can't believe there are people denying it was Mikasa in jean's dream. What the actual fuck?
I think it isn't exactly Mikasa, but Jean *does* have a type and Mikasa heavily influenced it by being his big crush back when all his hormones were firing at 200%.
WHICH STATEMENT DO YOU MOST AGREE WITH REGARDING HANGE’S ANSWER TO JEAN ABOUT GENOCIDE BEING INHERENTLY WRONG? 1,939 responses
Tumblr media
Nearly half of respondents (45.1%) agree with Hange that genocide is non-negotiably wrong. However, those that said in certain circumstances it is perhaps unavoidable if one’s enemies are intent upon it (16.6%) or it truly is the last resort (29.9%), responded in numbers too large to be dismissed. Those that claimed it was unabashedly a good thing, lag behind (8.5%). The results of this question would seem to indicate that even the fans that support Eren’s actions are doing so, for the most part, reluctantly; because that's the only way they see Paradis surviving.
Hanji’s rejection of genocide in no uncertain terms—I’ve been waiting for that! I want to frame that panel on my wall!
Finally people are arguing against Eren's crazy ideas. Expected more from Hange's and Jean's points tho, they have the capacity to be more eloquent
Jean is so close to noticing that the rumbling is best for him…
Kinda disappointing to see the group take such a simplistic take on the Rumbling.
Hange wants paradis to die on the moral high ground
Hating on Hange puzzles me, I understand people who support the rumbling, but saying she is bad for wanting to stop the killing of billions is just frustrating to me.
I'm tired of negativity flowing from fanbase. Everyone would like to see genocide; blood and rotten bodies of innocent people, but even Eren doesn't want that!
Genocide is morally and ethically wrong as hanje said which I agree with. What I don't agree with is her acceptance that once eren dies the eldians on paradis are gonna genocide within a few years. That fact that she hadn't thought of anyway to get around this is disappointing.
If it was Isayama’s Intention to make me feel bad for the rest of the world, he should have focused on it for a larger portion of the story cause honestly, they all can burn in hell for all I care. Innocent or not.
HANGE’S CLAIM THAT NONE OF THE DEAD SURVEY CORPS MEMBERS WOULD SUPPORT A RUMBLING WAS FOCUSED ON ERWIN. WHAT DO YOU THINK? 1,938 responses
Tumblr media
This poll team member, staring at the camera like Jim from The Office. While Hange has been proven to be a trustworthy character, one with 11/10 intelligence and someone who knew and worked with Erwin on the daily for years and years, and certainly knew him better than anyone aside from Levi, only a third of respondents (36.7%) trust Hange’s judgement on this.
Hanji is right y'all are just dumb
I love how when Isayama wants us to agree with a character he pulls out the Erwin card
I love that years later, Erwin has still not been forgotten.
Erwin would never support a full rumbling to genocide the entire world, and it saddens me that anyone would think otherwise.
We aren’t bad people for supporting Eren. Don’t let the Erwin stans throw hate at us. Erwin would have protected his home too.
WHICH DEAD CHARACTERS DO YOU THINK WOULD SUPPORT THE RUMBLING? 1,783 responses
Tumblr media
Kruger (58.3%), Kenny (57.4%) and Zackly (43.9%) top the list of characters we think would support the rumbling. Despite Hange’s confident declaration that no one in the Survey Corps would be so small minded, many disagreed choosing Ymir (31.3%) and Erwin (31%) as characters they think would support the Rumbling.
WHO WON THE DEBATE BETWEEN JEAN AND MAGATH? 1,930 responses
Tumblr media
This was definitely a Jean chapter, am I right? At 48.8 percent, Jean definitely won the debate according to most fans. In fact, poor Magath didn’t even get a result worth mentioning; ‘neither’ or ‘Hange’ both got reasonable responses, but this was unarguably a slapdown for Jeanbo!
Jean slapped Magath. Bonus points for including that they were totally ignorant even after the walls were attacked.
Magath's replies to Jean are weak. I believe I can do better than him on countering Jean's points.
Idk when they'll get that it doesn't matter how much they hate each other or who started it.
Magath sucks. "Your people did shitty things to us" stops being an excuse when you do things that are just as bad if not worse than what happened before.
This chapter just showed how fake magath is man wow
The argument felt a little? biased towards the paradis folk? i wasn't too bothered by it, but hey, if jean was going to get to punch reiner then reiner deserved to punch someone for bert too.
The argument of "Who is the real bad guy" was a circular "You're the bad guys!" "No u!" "NO U!" -- but by the end of the chapter, all of the arguing characters put aside their differences as they ~left the forest~
Everyone: *kids fighting*
Hange: *bass boosted* WOULD ANYONE LIKE SOME STEW
ANNIE QUESTIONS WHETHER OR NOT MIKASA COULD KILL EREN. DO YOU THINK MIKASA COULD EVER BRING HERSELF TO KILL EREN? 1,935 responses
Tumblr media
Early in the chapter, Mikasa surprises Hange and Jean by stating without hesitation that she will help stop Eren, but when Annie forces her to confront how far she is willing to go, she is clearly reluctant to take extreme measures. Almost half of the respondents (49.1%) believe that this is something Mikasa will never be able to do, with a decently close remainder of respondents saying either yes, she could bring herself to do it (29.1%), or opting not to decide (21.8%).
I don't see Mikasa killing Eren but i ALSO also don't see her doing nothing about it. It's complicated
If she met Eren in her present state, she wouldn't be able to kill him. Perhaps if something else happens between now and then to really strengthen her stance, she could.
I literally have no idea but i have a feeling she will confront him either way
I think she will struggle first, but after she will gain the conviction to do it.
I think she'd be willing to kill him if he showed to be willing to kill the scouts.
Lol at Mikasa learning how to think independently of Eren
She probably won't be able to do it regardless of her conviction because of the Ackerbond, unless Eren allows her to.
Killing eren is kind of extreme isn't it?
She will join Eren!
IF MIKASA CONFRONTS EREN, WHAT OUTCOME DO YOU EXPECT? 1,907 responses
Tumblr media
This one was all over the place! Proof if proof were needed of how impossible this particular subject is to predict right now; Mikasa’s strong feelings for Eren haven’t faded even though she has consistently demonstrated an opposition to his goals, and the poor girl is being torn to pieces. However, those that think Mikasa will ultimately be unable to bring herself to stop him if it means killing him are in the majority here. It’s still anyone’s bet though.
I dont think they can talk him out of it, but im not sure if killing him even stops the rumbling, hence i am not sure what to expect from this.
If Annie would turn out to be right with her suspection that Mikasa could turn her back to the alliance?
Mikasa is going to k-word Eren, isn't she? All the focus on her plus the uncomfortable question. Oh dear. Please no Isayama.
I feel like if Mikasa did end up killing Eren, she'd be even more hated than Gabi for killing Sasha.
Eren will accept his death . And itll be a suicide by forcing Mikasa and armin to kill him.
Eren will die because of the immense power his titan needs, Mikasa will be there to say "Farewell, Eren"
Armin will be the one who will finally take Eren down.
Armin and Mikasa try to talk, Armin die, Mikasa have no choice but try to kill Eren. Don't know if she succeed.
Armin is going to die with Eren while they look at the sunrise over the ocean
I don't think he will need to be killed. I believe that Eren will take all his squad to the paths and then they will talk. Eren will finally tell them everything. If he is going to destroy the world, Mikasa most likely will finish him off.
Eren won't be stopped
He'll confide in her and somehow convince her that he's in the right
Her and/or Armin's death(s) would be the only thing to stop Eren
If Mikasa comes into contact with Eren, she will confess her love for him because that's what she was last seen thinking about. If she couldn't do it before, better late than never.
It will be a group effort to finish him off
Mikasa will be killed (likely accidentally by Eren) in the process of trying to talk him around. Ironically, it will be this which finally causes him to question his current course of action.
Maybe she will kill Eren but it will destroy her
She'll let someone else do it. Maybe Jean?
She's probably just gonna scream "Ereh" all over again
Mikasa and Armin will confront Eren, no one will win but no one will die
No one will kill Eren because he's killing himself
IF ANNIE AND MIKASA WERE TO FIGHT NOW, WHO WOULD WIN? 1,932 responses
Tumblr media
In this writer's opinion, I always bet on Annie winning their original first fight even though I was (and am) a massive Mikasa fan. Now though, I definitely agree with the majority of those who answered this question. That first fight might be debatable but this second one wouldn’t even be a contest. Mikasa has just had years more of training and growth, and we don’t even know if being in the crystal for so long has left Annie weakened in any way. 63% of respondents think this is Mikasa’s fight to win.
Hope mikasa mikasa fight annie it will be sweet
MAGATH WAS NOT SURPRISED TO DISCOVER THAT KIYOMI WAS WORKING BEHIND MARLEY’S BACK. WHO DO YOU THINK KIYOMI IS TRULY WORKING FOR? 1,917 responses
Tumblr media
Close to 74% of those who took the poll this month are still not convinced of Kiyomi being particularly loyal to anybody but herself. Is this a case of reading a book by its cover too soon? Or is she genuinely as snakelike as she appears to be? Just remember that people can still have the capacity to do good whilst putting their own interests first. Unfortunately the opposite is equally true.
She's double agenting everyone, like an arms dealer in a war. She sells to both sides and loses nothing in return
Her nation. She's putting her nations interests first.
She is loyal to Mikasa primarily for selfish reasons, but the rumbling threatens her home too, so she'll probably support Hange and co now.
Plot twist: the Yeagerists have been Kiyomi's pawns, in the next chapter Kiyomi will throw Floch and the Yeagerists under the bus AND pretends she is indeed a hostage.
Kiyomi is working for herself even not for Hizuru and she will double cross everyone
Kiyomi/Kruger/Willy 4D chess conspiracy ftw
I have no idea who's side she's on at this point.
Not conspiring with the Jaegerists but with Zeke and the euthenasia plan.
I have thin hopes she might be working with Eren and Historia who convinced her to join their side.
She lusts for the blue rock
THE PLANE’S FUEL CAPACITY IS MENTIONED AS A LIMITING FACTOR IN FINDING EREN. WHERE DO YOU THINK EREN IS? 1,912 responses
Tumblr media
Eren didn’t enable infinite fuel in the PATHS console, and now everyone else has to deal with it. 40.3% of you think Eren has already left for the continent, 36.3% think he’s still on Paradis in his Founding Titan, 16.8% think he’s hiding somewhere in human form, and that leaves 6.6% who think he’s already reached the continent. Does anyone know the MPG on iceburst stone?
I'm going to be honest, I genuinely thought the plane was an aborted arc.
I find it funny that everyone is very concerned with catching up with Eren, even though they have no idea where he is, and have completely forgotten about Zeke. How do they know he's not lying in some rubble somewhere?
I just thought the plane idea was kinda....lame? I don’t know it just felt weird to me.
I can't stop picturing all the Wall Titans holding onto Eren's ribs for dear life as he crosses the ocean because they underestimated how deep it was.
YELENA MENTIONS THE APPEAL OF “SAVING THE WORLD” AS A MOTIVATION. DO YOU THINK SHE JOINED ZEKE PRIMARILY FOR HIS VISION OR WAS THERE ANOTHER FACTOR? 1,910 responses
Tumblr media
Nearly a quarter of you said that Yelena served Zeke to further his cause, 20.2% of you said that she did it because she was just really thirsty for Zeke, and 13.2% of you said that it has nothing to do with Zeke, and that she was just looking for fun and fame—in other words, SASUGA, PIECK! The fairly overbearing majority of you though, at 42.1%, said that it was some combination of all of the above answers.
I think Yelena's motivations for following Zeke are partly spiritual. She mentions his titan being godlike, and follows Zeke around like a disciple.
I was quite shocked to learn that Yelena was an average Marleyan herself who just made everything up about her coming from an annexed Marleyan nation and being saved by Zeke in some way.
YELENA BRINGS UP THE MORE RECENT CRIMES COMMITTED BY THE WARRIORS AND THE 104TH. IS THERE AN EQUIVALENCE OR IS ONE SIDE MORE AT FAULT? 1,901 responses
Tumblr media
This question had an interesting response, because it was expectedly divided, but not in the way one might have guessed. 34.9% of you said it’s irrelevant whose crimes are greater, 34.1% said that it’s about equal, 30.2% said that the Warriors are most at fault, and only 0.8% of respondents said that the 104th were most at fault. When we see talk of blame, or right and wrong, we normally see a very even split—especially when it comes to Eren, so this is an interesting outcome!
It’s so brilliant on the way it shows war’s true face ... don’t have winners, don’t have losers, it doesn’t matter who started or who finished it, we are fighting each other and for whom? for those who died 2000 years ago? people are just sickening. this chapter showed a lot of that with Yelena’s speech
Fuck Marley, but the sc doesn't have the higher moral ground on the warriors.
They should stop choosing between evils and start forgiving, never forgetting, but forgiving so they all can live together when it all ends one way or the other.
ZOOK YOOGER APPROVES!
JEAN THANKS YELENA FOR HELPING THEM GET ALONG. WAS THAT HER INTENTION? 1,889 responses
Tumblr media
A clean 31% of you think that Yelena was “just taking the piss”, by bringing up everybody’s past, and I had to google what that British (Australian?) nonsense means, but hey, you learn something new every day. Following just behind that at 30.7%, you guys said that she wanted to create more conflict for an unspecified reason. 27.6% of you said that she was just venting frustrations, while only 10.7% thought she actually wanted to help Zeke, and bring everyone together to stop Eren.
Looking forward to seeing Yelena roasting everyone in season 4.
Someone should beat magath for being an ass and yelena for being so edgy
WAS JEAN JUSTIFIED IN ATTACKING REINER LIKE THAT? 1,894 responses
Tumblr media
Almost three quarters of people thought Jean was justified in giving Reiner a walloping, largely for killing Marco (36.7%), but also to knock sense into Reiner (21.6%). 15.6% thought it was justified but that Jean took it too far, and a fraction fewer (15.2%) thought both guys have been justified in their actions. Just 6% thought the beating wasn’t justified at all, as we readers are well aware of Reiner’s feelings of guilt already. If you expected the sufferboi saga to end any time soon, don’t hold your breath…
I wouldn't say Reiner deserved it, but Jean is definitely justified for it. I don't blame Jean since the guy who killed his "best" friend was sitting right in front of him.
Uuuh YES? Is that even a question? Imagine someone killing your best friend and then calmly talking about it like telling a story.
His feelings are justified, his actions aren't.
Nobody fucking reacts over Yelena stating "Armin stole Bert's power", and instead we're just getting wank over a plot device from 2013: I named Marco.
Yes, but Annie deserved a beating too.
It makes no difference, they both are wrong and bad guys right now
We the audience know Reiner's entire backstory but Jean does not, hence why we feel more sympathy for Reiner than Jean does to him.
No reaction to Bert being eaten by Armin and Porco's already forgotten when he literally died the day before, but more Marco angst? Alright then.
I'd say neither is truly 'justified', but it was an emotional purging they both needed. Jean for his anger over what and who Reiner's taken from him, and Reiner getting what he feels he must receive for what he's done.
He should've killed him
Leave Reiner alone already. He suffered enough. He understands his mistakes. He doesn't need to be punched anymore.
Reiner deserved it, but by now its been too long so it feels out of place.
It's understandable. Jean's hit his breaking point. Reiner I love you but please stop trying to provoke people into causing you bodily harm.
Jean should've hit him harder. And Reiner wanted to be hit cause he knows it himself that he deserves it. Give the boy what he wants 💅
Reiner needs a damn hug goddamnit.
Yes. Revenge is always justifiable
Pretty sure reiner liked it either way
Honestly, when Jean hit Reiner, I felt good. I think that Reiner and Jean will have a better friendship and I'm looking forward to that.
I really don't know.
HOW DO YOU FEEL ABOUT MAGATH STOPPING HIMSELF FROM EXTENDING A HAND TO GABI? 1,886 responses
Tumblr media
Magath is a complicated fellow isn’t he? He seems to treat Eldians better than most but has trouble getting over his own prejudices regarding them. Most of you seem to think it was character progression (56%) that he reached out to help Gabi in that moment as a man, instead of as her commanding officer. We shall have to see if Magath’s attitude continues to soften, and if so, could it potentially be a microcosm of the world’s attitude to Eldians in general?
Magath begins to have a real compassion for warriors, especially towards Gabi (already in one of the previous chapters, he had given her a hug).
Foreshadowing, he'll die for her. 100% sure.
Gabi apologized to the Devils, she asked them for help. Magath realized that Gabi is not a brainwashed fanatical degenerate anymore, even she is not on his side.
Good question. It seemed like he only know started to realize that Eldians are people with feelings, fears and hopes too, but didn't know how to interact or if he was even allowed to show that concern after all that time.
He doesn't know how to react to this because Hange's words from earlier struck him deeply.
He fill asham that she act more like an adult than him
He finally starts understanding he was being an ass. Better late than never!
He is not sure how to comfort her. The situation is a tough one.
He realises now that he needs to provide the better future for these young Eldians thus being the guy that will free the Eldians from the discrimination.
He realized that he cares about Eldians a lot and he doesn't see difference between them and other people.
He realizes that he’s one of the reasons why a kid like gabi is suffering and feels like he doesnt have the right to comfort her
He wants to help the warriors but feels guilt about all the pain he caused them
He's a bitch realizing it's kinda his fault
He's only shown to care for Gabi tbh. We've seen him humiliate all the kids over and over even when they were trying to help and give suggestions, so I don't accept it as development and much less as "caring for Eldians".
I really dont know wtf was happening in these panels
When not arguing with Jean, Magath was flabbergasted all the time about Eldians being more human instead of devils he thought them to be, so idk, this reaction kind of goes hand in hand with all that. He's kind of realising they're human as well and he's afraid of feeling compassion for them.
HOW DO YOU FEEL ABOUT JEAN'S TREATMENT OF GABI AFTER THE ACCIDENTAL KICK? 1,905 responses
Tumblr media
66.6% agreed that Jean’s softer treatment of Gabi was the cutest shit they’d ever seen, or close to it. 23.5% were neutral on the matter, and a small proportion (4.6%) didn’t really care for it. Then there’s that little bump in 1 voters (5.4%), from those who didn’t like to see any kind of positive treatment of Gabi. My goodness, would Sasha hold a grudge this long?
Bless Jean and his kindness toward Gabi
Gabi is garbage
Gabi sucks
She shouldn't be the one to endure the kick of a seething horseface and explain why the warriors did what they did. Worse even, hiding her own pain to beg her aggressors for help. When her arc is all about leaving the forest, that's disgusting.
Haven't we had enough of Gabi Sue hogging the limelight? And the way she begs the SC to side with her after what she did to Sasha? Disgusting!
It kinda annoyed me that Gabi is apologizing to the 104 when they're the ones who destroyed her home and don't seem to feel guilty about it
idk but i love gabi
Gave the kick moment a 3. +4 because Jean is amazing, but -1 because Gabi should have gotten worse.
It really shows what a great character Gabi is because she can continue for vengeance but she is being a bigger person and choosing a more moral path.
MUCH OF THE CONVERSATION AROUND THE CAMPFIRE WAS REMINISCENT OF WHAT WE DISCUSS IN THE FANDOM. WHICH IDEA WERE YOU MOST HAPPY TO SEE? 1,893 responses
Tumblr media
Does Isayama read our posts? You might be forgiven for thinking so, considering the campfire discussions focused on so many different angles; the complexity of the situation was nailed, and the winner was Jean knowing Eren’s actions are best for the island but still morally wrong (35.1%), but Yelena’s little dialogue was appreciated enough to come a close second (31%). This was the moment where all of us felt like our view was taken on board however, and it was brilliantly done.
I wonder if Isayama actively collected all fandom ideas, because he NAILED it. Well, he did his part, right? In showing the complexity of the situation. He can't change the fandom's minds, but he can put his message out there.
Annie confronting Mikasa only to immediately back off, what she pointed out made sense, and yet they didn't even discuss what to do if Eren couldnt be persuaded to stop genocide.
This chapter was a beautiful reflection of the community's arguments.
The panel when they are eating around the campfire looks like 'The Last Supper' of Jesus and his 12 apostles.
+1 for Annie for calling the 104 out on their inability to kill Eren if need be, and for Hange for having some fucking common sense
I liked it more when they were all enemies tbh
WHICH OF THE MORE LIGHT-HEARTED MOMENTS FROM THIS CHAPTER WAS YOUR FAVORITE? 1,898 responses
Tumblr media Tumblr media
To me, Hange cheerfully knocking on the window to interrupt Jean’s idyllic daydream was pure comedy; what’s wrong with you people, am I the only one to find that funny? Sigh… Levi waking up to complain about the noise was alright though. I guess. And 50 percent of you seemed to like that one best. Comedy is wasted on you lot.
Sleepy Levi made me laugh out loud!
Levi was wholesome for once
Why would you think of Annie's asking if she's forgiven as a light-hearted moment?
I felt sad and grieved while reading this.
Loved Yelena with Titan Pieck, feel like she won't make it out of this alive and that's a shame since she's pretty interesting
I didn’t like the foodstuff. Isayama can’t make food jokes funny.
Isayama noticed Annie's favorable treatment so often he even slipped a joke about how nobody cares enough about the severity of her crimes to care... Haha...

LEVI JOINS THE LIST OF CHARACTERS WITH GLORIOUS BEDHEAD. WHICH HAS BEEN YOUR FAVORITE SO FAR? 1,898 responses
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Mikasa’s gravity-defying locks assert dominance with 53.1% of the vote. Mankind’s strongest soldier makes an impressive debut in second place with his moment of dishevelment (21.2%), and Annie’s shaggy mane from all the way back in the Female Titan arc made it to third place (15.1%). We then have Gabi (4.6%) and Eren (4.1%) closely matched, and an honorable mention for Jean’s mild fluff from the days of Uprising (1.9%). Levi’s bedhead this chapter may well be the last in the series!
Levi taking his beauty sleep and being cranky after waking up by all the noise was the cutest thing on the entire manga. And talk about that bed hair... Can I tousle it, please?
[Levi’s] hair jkjkksksks KAWAII
DEATH FLAGS ARE ONCE AGAIN FLYING! WHO DO YOU THINK WON’T MAKE IT OUT OF THIS ARC ALIVE? 1,844 responses
Tumblr media
Break out your bingo cards! Love him or hate him, most people agree that Floch has by far the highest chance of meeting his demise at a hardy 67.7% of responses. Just over 50% have voted that Yelena will die; perhaps she’s too much of a wildcard to stick around for the long-term. It’s not looking good for the old guard as many people think Hange and Magath have a good chance of dying, 48.7% and 45.2% respectively. A lot of people have also interpreted Jean’s development this month as an ominous sign (37.9%); it would certainly be one way to follow in his commanders’ footsteps! On the other end of the scale we have the fewest votes for Gabi (8%), Mikasa (8.2%), Falco (9.5%), and Armin (9.8%). Those expecting all four to meet their end are imagining a very grim finale indeed.
Hanji please don't die!
They're gonna kill Floch :(
Can Floch just die? Please?
I feel like hange will come up with a plan to save paradis without genociding.... and then immediately die without telling anyone the plan :)
Fuck annie. just fuck her. i want her to die so fucking badly.
If Hange dies I’ll cry
If Jean fucking die I’ll RIOT !!
Isadistyama knows only too well how much we hate Floch, which obviously means he isn't going to fkn die.
Gabi must die
Someone need to die soon.
Reiner's will to die will keep him alive to the end of the series…
I hope Levi doesn't die.
Really hoping Hange's death wasn't just foreshadowed in this chapter.
Jean will definitely die. Too much protagonism around him in this chapter.
My guess about Mikasa's life chances are now 50/50. 50% dying chances if she would protect Eren by fighting against the alliance and the other 50% having a chance to live a normal life with turning back to her old self
Just not Levi, at least not yet, c'mon we barely got him back :(
Maybe this whole manga is one man's journey trying to die in vain, until he ultimately finds the will to live... Then dies.
Hope they all die
THE PREVIOUS CHAPTER WAS NOT RECEIVED VERY WELL. HOW DO YOU FEEL ABOUT CHAPTER 126 NOW AFTER HAVING READ THE FOLLOW-UP? 1,891 responses
Tumblr media
With the worst rating in recent memory, chapter 126 was a disappointment to many readers, and we even saw some people losing faith in Isayama (the heresy!). So we asked the fandom about their feelings of the previous chapter in retrospect and knowing the continuation.
Surprisingly, the majority of respondents (48.9%) said their opinion of the previous chapter had not changed, but they felt positively about it, with 23% saying their unchanged feelings were negative. A remainder of 28.1% said their opinion of the previous chapter had in fact changed, with 26.1% expressing more positive feelings and 2% feeling more negatively.
A real improvement compared to Chapter 126.
Amazing, picked up on everything I thought 126 needed.
Definitely an improvement upon the last chapter
This chapter remedied most of my issues/concerns from the previous chapter
Chapter 127 was so awesome it made 126 even worse in comparison.
I prefer personally chapter 126, but this chapter had much better pacing
Everybody complaining about 126 were too impatient and short-sighted. This was always what was going to happen and both chapters did exactly what they were supposedly to do.
It really made me feel better about 126
Way better than 126 but still kinda cringe tbh
Much better chapter that made 126 redeemable
AFTER THIS CHAPTER, HOW HAS YOUR OPINION CHANGED ON THE FOLLOWING CHARACTERS?
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Due to this chapter being dialogue-centric with character interaction galore, naturally it was bound to have an impact on the characters’ likeability. The significant focus on Jean’s inner turmoil evidently made him skyrocket in the eyes of the fans, with 80.6% of responses to him being on the favorable side, correlating with him being the fandom’s choice of MVP.
Jean's development is top tier.
I am so proud of how far and mature Jean has become! ;-;
Jean continues to show why he's the best character in the series
JEAN CHADSTEIN
JEAN JEAN JEAN JEAN
Other characters receiving a boost in favorability were Yelena, Hange and even Gabi (although in her case by only a smidge).
Yelena was my personal MVP this chapter
Mama Hange is the best
Gabi behaved like an adult and preferred to ask for forgiveness and help (she was adorable).
While many were relieved by Hange’s strong stance, it should be noted that Hange also received significant backlash this chapter, with ¼ of respondents viewing Hange less favorable.
Fuck hange
Hange is just making idiotic shitty points, and she has become one of my most hated character after this chapter. Jean's argument is one of the best, and almost everything he says this chapter made me love him even more.
People saying hange is acting based off emotion .. when literally all eren has done is act based off emotion. of course hange doesnt have a plan yet, eren is literally gonna annihilate the world
Though no characters had an overall less favorable response, Magath’s comments about the Paradis Eldians certainly almost landed him there.
Magath can suck a nut
Fuck off Magath
Magath really annoyed the hell out of me this chapter
ONCE AGAIN ISAYAMA APPEARS TO BE PLAYING WITH OUR EXPECTATIONS OF THE FINAL PANEL. WHICH OUTCOME DO YOU BELIEVE IS MOST LIKELY? 1,824 responses
Tumblr media
Dreamt up fantasy or not, this chapter gave us yet another plausible scenario for the long-haired man holding a baby, confirming that Isayama knew what he was doing when he released that final panel, and he will milk the speculation for all it’s worth. With over 50 custom write-in responses of people saying they have no idea, it’s clear we’re all just on Isayama’s wild ride.
The most popular option chosen was that it depicts Eren holding Historia’s child (38.9%), followed by Grisha holding Eren (29.1%), Jean holding Mikasa’s child (14.7%), and Farmer-kun holding Historia’s child (8%). We also found many trends in the write-in answers:
Eren holding his baby with Mikasa (11)
Jean holding Historia's child (9)
Grisha holding Zeke (4)
Eren holding ymir fritz (reborn) (4)
Zeke holding Eren’s child. (3)
Falco holding Gabi's child (2)
Armin holding Historia's child (2)
As well as multiple answers that it’s Isayama injecting himself into the manga. You’re all hilarious.
Eren holding Isayama
plot twist: its isayama's dad holding him. he is free of the manga now
Isayama holding baby Onsen
Some of you had some creative ideas that I enjoyed reading:
Eren holding historia’s dead baby. saying it’s free from this world’s cruelty
Eren holding the Crawling Titan's human form (the one they encountered when heading to the ocean).
The next inheritor of the Founding Titan is holding Historia’s child, Eren sees this as a future memory.
Two marleyans free of eldian rule
Zeke holding Yelena's child
How did that last one get - actually, screw it, I’m on board. #Zelena4Life
We also had some voicing of concern regarding the lack of warning for final panel spoilers. To anyone who was spoiled by the final panel as a result of our actions, we apologise, and we will make sure any future polls that include discussion of external material will be appropriately tagged. This was Crunch’s fault, so please direct all of next month’s hatemail at him. He’s very sorry though.
WHAT DO YOU THINK THE OUTCOME OF THIS UPCOMING BATTLE WILL BE? 1,865 responses
Tumblr media
Before they can reach Eren, the Alliance needs to first get past the Jaegerist. Only 12% of respondents expect this to be easy. The vast majority (63.8%) are anticipating an Alliance win but at the cost of major character deaths. On the other end of the spectrum, close to 20% expect the Alliance to be defeated but think they will reach Eren another way. The tiniest percent (4.1%) think that the Jaegerists will win this battle and Eren will be successful.
I hope isayama wont nerf the alliance so hard in the upcoming battle. and pls no stupid death. make it glorious.
5 titan shifters versus a group of Jaegerist, I'm putting all my money on those well rested shifters to deal with a majority of the Jaegerist on the outside while the non-titans sneak in and rescue Kiyomi. And hopefully one of them can kill Floch while they are at it.
Super excited for next chapter! It was good exposition and a good setup for an epic fight! I also kind of hope that now that they've figured out the trick to stop fighting and finding diplomatic ways that they don't directly resort to violence but at least try to find a way to talk with the Jaegerists. If they don't try to talk and find a way around then the lessons learned won't have meant a thing. I'm super happy with the direction of the story
Even if you hate Floch you still have to give him credit for what he as done with taking over Paradis and mobilizing the Yeagerists in anticipation for the alliances next move
I swear if Armin doesn’t either turn into a titan now or in the final battle I’m gonna be saltier than the Dead Sea.
YES, WE ARE GOING THERE... HOW BADASS DID FLOCH LOOK IN THAT FINAL PANEL? 1,888 responses
Tumblr media
God help us all... The bird’s nest hair is gone so there is nothing left to distract us from that rockin’ bod and fierce expression.  Please know that I am physically in pain that only ¼ of the fandom selected the “Ewwwwww no” option. The rest of us are apparently weak for thicc thighs bound by tight leather straps.
My hat is off to the 9.2% who selected “How ‘bout dat Kiyomi.” You have my respect for maintaining your dignity and opting out of this question entirely.
Floch based
Floch is a CHAD
Floch is a hottie
FLOCH MARRY ME PLEASE I LOVE YOUU
Floch NEEDS to die!!!
FLOCH SHALL REIGN SUPREME!!!
FLOCH THE CHAD
I hate floch but damn is he lookin fine af
AT THIS POINT, AROUND WHICH CHAPTER DO YOU EXPECT THE MANGA WILL CONCLUDE? 1,876 responses
Tumblr media
After another set up chapter amidst the scenery of the apocalypse, the chances of this arc wrapping up quickly are slimmer than ever, with only 2.2% of respondents believing the series to be in its final volume and ending at chapter 130. The 138-gang has officially taken over as the majority, with 43.9% of respondents expecting the story to wrap up in ten more chapters, beating out the 37.3% who think we will only get to chapter 134, and the 16.6% who think the story will go even further, to 142 chapters or beyond (for those counting at home, that’s at least midway into 2021).
I find it hard to believe that the story is getting wrapped up so soon… There’s so much that I feel like needs to happen before the story ends
I hope [Isayama] finishes the series without any rush.
I'm unsure if the manga will be able to end in 2020
I thought we were supposed to be approaching the end but now we go on a sidequest to free princess Kiyomi from a miniboss, huh?
The end is near and I already feel sad.
Whatever happens, it's been a wild ride up to this moment. I thank Isayama for everything.
WHAT ARE YOU MOST HOPING TO SEE NEXT CHAPTER? 1,892 responses
Tumblr media
Eren’s POV (37.3%), a continuation of the present storyline (21.9%), and the return of Historia (19.1%) are our top hopes and dreams for the upcoming chapter. A major death (6.8%), Reiner finding the will to live (6.0%), news about our boy Zeke (5.6%) and the Rumbling (3.4%) round out the entries.
EREN POV AND HISTORIA POV ALREADY JESUS CHRIST
I'm kinda hoping we get a zeke pov I wonder how he feels abt eren betraying him.
Historia was named because she is history from the story YAMS I WILL NEVER FORGIVE YOU WHERE IS QUEEN BAE
HISTORIA WHENNNNNNNN???!!!!!!!!
I just miss eren and historia and zeke a lot, they're my favorite characters :(
I just want annie to see her father smh
I have faith in isayama's cruelty and I honestly hope to see someone die
Please get Eren or Historia on the screen for the love of god
Reiner's too tired to die now. Wondering at which time yam will give him a new motivation to live and fight.
I’m still hoping Mikasa and Armin will man up and realize that Eren may not be worth fighting for. Maybe next time!
Hype for that Floch death next chapter, cmon Yams
Watch it burn!
WHERE DO YOU PRIMARILY DISCUSS THE SERIES? 1,797 responses
Tumblr media
The percentage of people who primarily discuss the series on Reddit is up from last month, while Tumblr and Discord’s percentage is down. People who don’t discuss the series, but participate in the poll are up 4.1% (of the whole, 73% relative to itself). The top 5 ranking order is: Reddit, I don’t, Facebook, Tumblr, and Discord. I’m surprised by the lack of Discord responses. If you voted Discord, but don’t see many people in your Discord communities aware of the poll, let them (or us!) know!
On that note, I have to give the Snapchat voters a hard time. Snapchat got 6 votes this time. Six. That’s the same as it was last month, but let me put this into perspective for you. Steam got three votes. There are twice as many people who voted Snapchat as there were people who voted Steam. Two. Times. Until I receive evidence to the contrary, I’m electing to believe that this is a Marleyan psyop, and I’m not falling for it.
Regardless of where you discuss the series though, we appreciate your contribution to the poll, and the SnK community as a whole! We literally could not do this without you guys, so thank you!
ADDITIONAL THOUGHTS ON THE CHAPTER? 406 responses
Nice prelude before the final confrontation(s)
Fantastic chapter with great development for Jean and Reiner.
Overall, this is exactly what I wanted after last chapter's fiasco.
Where is Zeke lmao
Needs more Historia. THEY ARE ALL THERE WHY IS THERE NO ONE TALKING ABOUT THE QUEEN OF PARADIS. ISAYAMA PLZ
Kinda bummed there wasn't more Levi, but I'm always bummed when there's not a lot of Levi.
I don't like where this is going
I can't believe I'll be legit sad if Floch goes.
Erwin would have come up with another way to protect Paradis. He would have blackmailed and sweet-talked all the other diplomats lol. If Erwin was in charge he would have come up with a decisive plan and Eren wouldn't even have had to consider the rumbling, unlike Hange who is all talk but no plan and I guess that's why Erwin had to be nuked out of the story.
F U L L  B O C C O
I live for character drama and Jean’s my favourite character so you know I loved this one.
I loved the Pieck x Yelena moment...and I Am Once Again Asking for Historia Comeback.
Mikasa. That’s it, that’s my thoughts,
Meh this arc has really a lot of problems with the characters, basically i dont care for anyone at all except eren and reiner, and that's a major flaw.
[Yelena] pointed everyones hypocrisy out that they aren't just victims who did nothing wrong. Everyone, except of Falco, has cover they hands with blood. It's not just ""muh Marley, muh Eldia or muh Yelena"". Everyone have started sins and are to blame for something. It was a really necessary wake up call, not only for the characters, but for this fandom as well. No matter if this was her intention to create more drama in the group or make them realize that they and not different from each other. GREAT MOMENT and Yelena absolutely slaying 👑
Please just make mikasa ended up with eren in the future. I dont really care bout anything
THE.CHAPTER.THAT.WE.NEEDED.
There really just aren't any good solutions, are there?
Isayama stop messin with my heart
Also I've seen people mad at Magath, but the only two charas I really hated here were Yelena and Floch. Both kinds of people are terrible in real life (usually minus the killing but eh)
Eren is gonna win and kill everyone
Can we stop the SUFFERING XD jokes with Reiner? The torture porn is seriously getting old and unnecessary. Can't believe I had to lower my opinion of him as well.
Every major character during this arc had moments of extreme fragility and desperation. mikasa, connie, armin, hanji, reiner and now jean. i love this because it would be extremely weird for a group of people who constantly put their sanity to test to remain the same (strong and capable of fighting and leading in every situation)
Bless Jean! He is such a good friend. I hope he can heal. That reveal with how Marco really died was very traumatizing. I hope all of the characters can heal.
BTW Isayama..It will be so pathetic if the Manga ended by Mikasa kill Eren..The worst and most unsuccessful end
Better than the previous one for sure. I love dialouges! Still expected Annie to interact with Armin and Levi not just sleeping through all of this like the sleeping beauty.
Annies back, back again. Annie's back, tell a friend.
Another banger
AoT is like good wine, it gets better with time.
AOT makes my life tolerable enough to live, thank you isayama
Boring chapter i wanna see eren ffs
Bitches really do be supporting genocide
( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)
10/10 as usual
127 was a totally piece of shit
I think jean and pieck will become a thing. if it doesnt, ill be sad lol
I'M AT SOUP
I'm confused.
I'm glad the situation of Marco's death and his importance to Jean was addressed. I just hope this won't be the last we see of it. Jean needs to heal and Reiner needs to do better.
I'm just happy that there will most likely not be a Cringevengers-like ending that seemed not too far-fetched after 126.
I want Eren to live
I want the recipe for that stew
I want to see Mikasa's POV
It feels as if Isayama has read our discussions and merged them into the story. Also I think Jean is the one who understands Eren's motivations the best at this point. Not Armin, not Mikasa.
It seems now that all the pieces are in place.  I believe from now until the end will be a constant and crazy ride
It was a great chapter, but where's Eren? Even the "Avengers Team" are wondering.
It was a great chapter, Isayama covered most of the topics that were hanging loose on the last chapter
Real Housewives of Eldia
It was a masterpiece
It was alright.
Some will die, Eren will do some bad shit, but he will fail somehow
MOAR JEANKASA
Monthly dose of Reiner suffering
More Mikasa
More Reiner
None, just AOT
Nostalgic. Especially when Jean learns of Marco's demise.
Not enough action
Not enough suffering for Reiner.
Pie
Pieck Is hekkin cute
Pretty much what I expected after the events of last chapter, in a good way.
Reiner and Gabi both should have gotten so much worse from Jean, they have too much blood on their hands to be even remotely forgivable.
So long as the Jeagerists are resolved this volume, or something wilder - no more build-up. JUST FUCK EVERYTHING UP, ISAYAMAAA  (not like GoT fuck it up, but the good kind)
Somebody, please let Reiner sleep and wake up properly
Shit gonna hit the fan so hard
Shit is happening and I'm not ready. Wonder if the anime will make the chapters flow better like in Season 3 Part 1+2?
There going to set something big up soon and everyone will be hype for it but then it will show Marley perspective of the rumbling or something
Eren will succeed! All hail Eren!
This chapter was everything I wanted, thx Yams ily
Lets just say I have new ships
This chapter was intense and I love the debates around the fire.
Too long chatting
Chapter was good but the fandom is at its absolute lowest state at the moment, between the aggressive Eren cultists, warriors and 104 fans attacking one another, and crazy shippers. Stop this clownery
Crazy chapter, looking forward to the next one.
Fuck the Jaegerists, death to all empires. Everybody needs to be a republic already, this is getting old.
Great breath of fresh air chapter. Needed that after the quickly paced 126.
Very good.  i don't like the fandom, they are just children. i have always hated them.
Was a fantastic chapter overall and I hope for more of the same next chapter
We really missed Annie
Hype's alive again
I shit you not, He actually turned himself into a pickle. A pickle! He called himself pickle Rick. Now that's the funniest shit I have ever seen.
I liked that yams showed conflict in the gathering of the warriors and the 104th and that they weren’t going to forget each other’s crimes
I loved the arguing and tension in the alliance. I like how most of the chapter was around the campfire.
I prefer this chapter to have been the other half split of the previous one. And this one advanced to slowly, with unnecessary things
I'm still waiting for a crazy plot twist
When will the Ackertalk finally come
Where did mikasa go at then end!!!
YELENA!!!
Yelene spitting facts
Annie turned to alcohol
Im fine if this ends with the alliance stopping Eren but I'll find it dumb if Paradis isnt destroyed by the world afterwards. (which I highly doubt will happen)
It was pretty dope
It was really good but we all know I cannot wait another month for the next chapter release. And yes, I am extremely upset that we won't be getting another Levi x Zeke fight.
Honestly Erwins flashback looked forced, that space could've been used to yelena revealing Eren's location, or confirming who that guy from the building was(shadis?)
Love this shit.
Loved it! It's tied with 121 as my favourite chapter from this arc.
Loved it. Not much to say about this one, since it wasn't nearly as controversial as the last one :P
Hoping the deaths I picked are going to happen and I hope 🤞 that ema talk 2 will happen
I'VE BEEN WAITING TWO YEARS OF MY LIFE FOR THIS. I DON'T EVEN CARE IF I GET CORONAVIRUS I CAN DIE HAPPY.
I’ll die of the corona if eren dies
Jeans pretty cool ngl
pointless volume incoming with pointless battle vs floch. Waste of time
Pretty much what I expected after the events of last chapter, in a good way.
I don't forgive Annie
Thank you Yelena
Jeanstans: Attaboy Jean! Reinerstans: HOW DARE HE?! Reiner: Too bad that didn't kill me.
Loved this chapter but it was mostly playing catchup with the rest of the characters, still needed. Really shows how far ahead eren is.
Genocide supporter fans are just bunch of edgy teenagers. Let's see how they support Genocide when they get massacred irl.
More useless drama for a character who is progressively getting more annoying by the minute (hi Jean)
Since the end of the second world war, japan was reconstructed almost entirely by young people, so probably this story will end showing that with some analogy. making that previous statement, i think it won’t be eren, or any of the older characters, since they lived and did the horrors they did and must somehow pay for it(and specially the PTSD most would have, so they’ll be probably incapacitated in some way), i think it will be Gabi, or maybe Falco or someone else, because they are just lost, Gabi changed her mind and personality so well(progress, developed it), so that’s why i think it would or maybe even should be her. am i expecting too much from Isayama?
I believe in the Time-Loop still. But ya, hope Final Battle is with Levi and Eren teaming up. (Also Mikasa a bit before...)
Honestly wished the first few pages were real. I would love it for Jean and Mikasa to actually get together.
Annie clearly has no big role to play, & I think she’s going to go home & find her father dying. On a more positive note, we finally got some character interaction!!
That soup tho
Why should Mikasa be the one who confronts Eren? lmao According to the final exhibition would Armin be the one who will confront Eren, but I'm sure "talk-no-jutsu" will fail as an outcome. It doesn't worked in chapter 112, why should it be different?.
The award goes to Isayama for being the first person writing a story in which I have absolutely 0 clue about what will happen next. Like I never ever was at such a loss of theories. Never. This is both awsome and frightening. At least for that, props to Isayama

5 Reasons You Should Be Watching Legacies
Tumblr media
October is, just objectively, the best month of the year. Exhibit A: Golden autumn leaves. Exhibit B: All things apple. Exhibit C: This gif. Exhibit D: Witches. Like, it’s just science.
Around these parts, though, the best best thing about October is, of course, the television. Yes, I’m talking spooky, kooky Halloween specials—love a good Halloween special—but also I’m talking fall premieres. Specifically, I’m talking The CW’s fall premieres, which have been landing in mid-October (later than most other broadcast networks) since at least the first season of Arrow.
This fall, the teen-skewing network’s biggest draws are, arguably, the series debuts of Batwoman (October 6th) and Nancy Drew (October 9th), and the final season bows of Arrow (October 15th) and Supernatural (October 10th). But while I’m professionally interested in seeing how all those premieres play out, the CW joint I’m most personally invested in getting back on my screen (also October 10th!) is Julie Plec’s supernatural boarding school double-spin-off teen drama series, Legacies.
Friends—you should be watching Legacies. I know there’s a lot of television out there, but really and truly, if you like television that likes being television (more on that in a minute), Legacies is absolutely worth tuning in to. Why? Well, let me just count the reasons:
1. You don’t have to do any television homework to join the fun.
Tumblr media
Yes, TECHNICALLY Legacies is a hybrid spin-off of two different long-running Julie Plec series, The Vampire Diaries (eight seasons) and The Originals (five), and sure, technically it was in those series that the mythology driving the character arcs/motivations of Legacies’ most central leads, Hope Mikaelson (Danielle Rose Russell) and Alaric Saltzman (Matthew Davis), was developed. After spending a cumulative thirteen seasons not just telling stories on television, but telling stories on television from this specific world, Plec’s ability to set efficient narrative groundwork under fast-moving vampire feet is nothing if not masterful. Genuinely, aside from a few single-episode cameos of side characters from Hope and Alaric’s TVD/Originals past, the only thing you need to watch to make sense of Legacies is this official promo for the first season:
youtube
…and honestly, most of that soliloquy, plus much more, is folded into the cold open of the series premiere, “This is the Part Where You Run,” which uses new lead Landon Kirby (Aria Shahghasemi) as audience avatar as he gets introduced to this particular supernatural world for the first time.
2. Two words: Julie. Plec.
Tumblr media
That said, if you are familiar with Legacies’ double, er, legacy, you’ll get a kick out of how precisely Plec has taken her signature whip-fast storytelling and fitted it to a breezier, more “teen” setting, and how deftly she manages to weave in both key characters and core emotional beats from both her previous series.
The most obvious example of all of this is Matthew Davis’ Alaric Saltzman, who became such a fan favorite during his time as vengeful-vampire-hunter-turned-loyal-teen-vampire guardian-turned-rogue-vampire’s-best-friend on The Vampire Diaries that not only did Plec resurrect him from the (very truly) dead to keep Damon Salvatore (Ian Somerhalder) on the straight and narrow, but she then brought him on as co-lead of this series to do the same for every supernatural teen in the contiguous United States. Now, as both father to a pair of Gemini twin witches (Kaylee Bryant and Jenny Boyd) and mentor/father-figure to Hope, the teen witch-vampire-werewolf tribrid with a hero complex, Alaric gets to flex all the emotional muscles TVD fans know and love. Plus, as the Salvatore School’s headmaster, he also gets to take charge of the dramatic supernatural research and heroic (and/or chaotic) supernatural missions that are key to a Plec series’ fast-paced success. Beyond all of that, though, in positioning him as the central human adult foil to a whole pile of supernatural teen protagonists, Plec has also found a way to let him be funny, bringing a uniquely fun dynamic to the fast-moving monster drama of the TVD universe that hasn’t always gotten such pride of place.
In other words: Julie Plec, still running wild supernatural stories turned up way past 11.
3. Three words: Supernatural. Boarding. School.
Tumblr media
One more time, in case that didn’t sink it: Supernatural. Boarding. School.
I really shouldn’t have to elaborate on this, but Legacies is set at the Salvatore Boarding School for the Young and Gifted, which is the school for young witches, werewolves, vampires, and Hope that was funded by Hope’s (dead) dad and is located at/on the Salvatore family’s Virginia estate, just outside Mystic Falls. All the moody opulence of Damon and Stefan’s TVD homebase, all the zingy, angsty tropes of great Teen TV.
More than just being a fun setting, though, the Salvatore School gives Legacies a chance to sprawl out and complicate the consequences of being a teenager consigned to eternity as part of the supernatural world. These consequences are still very real and very serious in Legacies, but while The Vampire Diaries mined dramatic tension from supernatural teens (or at least vampires who looked superficially like teens) living in dangerous proximity to human teens, its kid sibling series looks inside for its tension. The teens at the story’s core need, first and foremost, to find a way to come to terms with their own inhumanity, and what it means to be good as they define it. And honestly, after so many years of TVD stories focused on the former, spending time with a bunch of super compelling, super different supernatural kids working through the latter is just a treat.
4. A diverse cast and diverse stories
Tumblr media
This leads directly into a key update to the TVD legacy: With such a sprawling cast of teen characters brought to the Salvatore School from all walks of life and corners of the country, Legacies gets to improve on one of the original series’ greatest weaknesses: A lack of diversity. While both Alaric and the three central female characters of Legacies—all carried over from the previous series—are still white, the characters that round out the rest of the new series’ core cast are not. On the adult side, Alaric is joined by faculty members Dorian Williams (Demetrius Bridges) and Emma Tig (Karen David), while on the teen side, Hope, Josie and Lizzie are joined by softie vampire MG (Quincy Fouse), activist vampire Kaleb (Chris Lee), reluctant alpha werewolf Rafael (Peyton “Alex” Smith), ex-alpha werewolf Jed (Ben Levin), bad girl with Penelope (Lulu Antariksa), and the audience avatar/mystery box supernatural mentioned above, Landon Kirby (Aria Shahghasemi). Nor is racial diversity the only benchmark hit with this large cast. In terms of queer representation, Josie is bi, with Penelope her ex/possible future girlfriend; in terms of class representation, Rafael and Landon are foster brothers who both have dark histories with the system.
Importantly, none of these measures of diversity are included just for show. Each character’s identity and background are as key to who they are within the heightened emotional context of the boarding school as their individual supernatural abilities. Kaleb’s experience as a young black man (and vampire) is markedly different from MG’s, which is markedly different from Dorian’s (who, to be fair, is also not a vampire). Josie and Penelope’s relationship is informed by their strengths (and weaknesses) as witches, and further informs how they each approach solving problems both social and magical. Landon and Rafael’s history, as thrown away kids whose only shelter was each other, drives every decision they make. That diverse identities should inform characters in these ways isn’t a surprise; that Legacies is embracing them all now after so many seasons of its parent series falling short is, if not surprising, then at least worth taking note of.
5. Finally: Legacies totally knows it’s a TV show.
Tumblr media
This seems self-evident, but as pop culture critic Grace Robertson so sharply observed earlier this year in her essay “Let TV Be TV” (like, literally; the heading above is a direct quote), the best trick Legacies pulls isn’t even a trick. It’s just being good at being entertaining, episodic television.
Tumblr media
In an era where a TV show can be anything from thirteen thirty-minute episodes (pick literally any prestige comedy) to dozens upon dozens of bite-sized Facebook posts (SKAM Austin) to an 18-hour art film (Twin Peaks: The Return), defining just what counts as television is practically a professional sport. Well, it’s a sport Legacies isn’t interested in playing. With both its new-to-the-TVD-verse Monster of the Week mode of storytelling and the Salvatore School as its comfortable, “fixed point” setting, Plec is even better at framing episodic stories than she was in her already rollicking previous series. In a television landscape so full of cinematic innovation, the freedom this old school “status quo” television model gives Legacies is, as Robertson notes, a huge relief.
So, yes: Legacies knows it’s a TV show, and it knows it’s a fun one. With the short first season currently streaming on Netflix, there is literally no better time to jump on the Legacies bandwagon than now. And I know it’s one I can’t wait to have back in my weekly rotation. All hail October.
Legacies Season Two premieres Thursday, October 10th on The CW.

Dance Sessions
Summary: When Hakyeon first heard you were teaching at Jellyfish, he doubted your ability. Now, he was attending private dance sessions where he was learning a whole lot more than just dancing.
Pairing: Cha Hakyeon x reader
Genre: friends to lovers au
Warnings: none
Tumblr media
A/N: requested by the wonderful @chellolaa! This story was a lot of fun to create… there’s nothing better to me than imagining/seeing Hakyeon dance. So it was fun to write it for a change!
Word count: 1846
Tumblr media
It was Hakyeon’s favourite time of the day. For many, being up this early in the morning would seem unfathomable. Frankly, if Hakyeon didn’t have a reason to be in the studio at the crack of dawn, he wouldn’t be either. Yet he hadn’t missed a single session with you, and as he stretched his limbs to loosen up for the dance session ahead, he glanced at his image in the mirrors. He looked as excited as he felt.
When you first started dance lessons at Jellyfish, he had been dubious. Of course, he had a lot of admiration for choreographers and within his line of work; he had worked with many of them. Although Hakyeon boasted a career with a lot of self-composed dances for both his team and individual projects, he knew his artistry had been inspired by the talent of others that supported him and VIXX.
Yet you weren’t trained. You hadn’t attended any dance schools or held any credentials either. Hakyeon had wondered why management would hire such a rookie, let alone allow them to teach the idols and trainees within the company. Sure, some of his style had been self-taught but he had been serious about dance from a young age and had put in the long gruelling hours in training facilities. He probably held more certificates in dance than you did. Hakyeon had always prided himself as being someone who accepted all walks of life in improving his career. But he couldn’t fathom how someone like you could benefit him in the slightest.
“Just give Y/N one session,” Ava, his senior coordinator, suggested with a smile. “I think you’re judging too harshly before you know how good she is.”
“I’m all for self-taught styles, but inexperienced choreographers can expect too much and be the answer to injury. Do you really want any of the idols or trainees to be injured?”
Ava smiled knowingly. “I said Y/N is self-taught, not inexperienced.”
That sentence had played over in his mind all day long until he stepped into the studio where your first class was to be held. He greeted the other students in the room before stretching and warming up. By the time you arrived, Hakyeon’s curiosity was piqued. A couple of the students had mentioned they had seen someone dancing in this room earlier on and hoped they were the teacher. And when you placed your things down, he heard the excited murmurs that they were correct.
“Shall we dance?” you asked everyone in the room and smiled brightly. Hakyeon’s doubt eased the longer you smiled at everyone and he even felt himself nodding along.
By the time the class ended, he was exhausted and felt like he’d have to drag himself off to his next appointment with how gruelling it had been. You stopped him on the way out and smiled cheerfully. “I heard from Ava you weren’t expecting much. Today was just an introduction to my style so I went easy on you all. You’ll be back on Thursday, right?”
“That was easy?!” he uttered and you giggled. Something about the sweet tone of your laughter softened his shock. Hakyeon was nodding along before he realised it again. “Sure, I’ll see you on Thursday.”
Over the next month, Hakyeon had attended all the classes you held. There was something refreshing about the way you taught everyone. You were tough on technique and repetition, and he’d always leave your classes dripping of sweat. But he had noticed the improvement to his accuracy as a dancer, and he had even learned several new ways of doing difficult moves in a way that was less taxing to his body. The classes were fun, but they weren’t enough. And when you had suggested the early morning sessions on Fridays before everything else in his day, he had jumped at the chance. Even if it meant he missed out on extra sleep.
It was definitely worth it.
“Good morning, Hakyeon,” you greeted as you entered the studio, looking bright as usual. He never understood how you could radiate so much energy from the get-go. He had seen Ava in the mornings and she was definitely not as alert as you were when he met with you every Friday morning. You placed your bag down and turned to him. “I have a new routine for you. Want to give it a try once we’re warmed up?”
“Oh, did you hear about my next concept dance piece?” he wondered and you nodded enthusiastically. “Well then, what are we waiting for?”
After the warm-up, you went into great detail explaining the dance concept you had thought of, even having drawings to show him of some of the moves. You were a hands-on teacher and he could easily visualise what you had come up with before he even saw it in person. And then when you were satisfied with your explanation, you turned on the music Hakyeon had been given last week to plan his choreography to, and started to show him a loose interpretation of what you had envisioned. It was a masterpiece. He watched in awe, knowing that with his stylist moves leading the dance, the feedback from the public would be very positive.
“Let me add to it,” he mentioned confidently and for the next half an hour you both tweaked the plan until it seemed to satisfy you both.
You grinned as you sat down for a water break, reaching up to high five Hakyeon as he came to sit next to you. “We make a good team. This will be a great dance.”
“An even better one if you perform it with me.”
“What?” you asked, your eyes flashing with panic as you laughed hollowly. “Oh no, I’m the dancer behind the scenes, not the one in front of the camera.”
“You just said we make a good team,” he reminded, smiling encouragingly at you. “Y/N, you’re so talented. Sure, I disregarded your skills in the beginning from lack of knowledge but you are by far one of the best dancers I know. Come on, it’ll be fun! You can’t keep denying my requests to dance together.”
“I’m fine with dancing together with you like this. I don’t need the spotlight.”
Hakyeon frowned. “Why not?”
“Some people don’t aspire for it,” you told him and the smile you gave him was genuine. “I like helping put the pieces together but not being in the final image. That’s where you come in. You breathe life into my ideas and make them happen.”
“I can’t convince you, can I?” he asked sadly and you nudged him playfully whilst shaking your head. “So stubborn.”
“It’s called being happy with what you have, Hakyeon. Besides, if I was to go on stage then I would have to travel and commit myself to just one group.”
“And you like the diversity of other people?” he surmised and you shrugged. It made him curious. “Or do you have a fear of travelling?”
“Everyone has a weakness, mine is flying. I’ll keep my feet firmly on the ground unless I’m dancing, thanks.”
“This dance piece won’t require you to travel, though,” he persisted and you groaned, shooting him a pleading look. “There’s more to it?”
“Promise you won’t laugh.”
He zipped his mouth closed and then smiled at you reassuringly. You let out a short breath before speaking. “When I was younger, I was scouted. I was told I would have my dreams of being a talented dancer recognised. I was thrown into a school for dancing first. They said before I got to the stage, I’d have to improve and listen to others on how I needed to dance. I didn’t like that. Being on stage means I have to do what others want. Dancing is my identity and I like to be in charge of how I move my feet.”
Hakyeon was in awe by your honesty and stared at you for some time, even after you had finished talking. You shot him an awkward smile. “Why won’t you stop staring?”
“Every time I think I couldn’t admire you any more than I already do, you say something that makes me like you even more.”
You flushed with colour and got up, putting space in between you and him. You then glanced at him warily. “Like or admire?”
“Both,” Hakyeon confirmed, getting up and joining you back in front of the mirrors. He watched you through the reflection and smiled. “Does it bother you?”
“A little bit,” you admitted, your cheeks still coloured. You shook out your arms. “I worry it may affect our working relationship.”
Hakyeon dove in behind you as the music started back up, dancing expertly to the moves you had both created together. Halfway through the song, he reached for your hips and brought you closer. It was part of the dance but with the way he was watching you in the mirror, your eyes widened with surprise.
But your feet kept in sync with his.
“I don’t think it’s going to affect how we dance together, Y/N,” he said into your ear and you sighed involuntarily. “It might actually improve our connection.”
“All those weeks ago when you walked into my classroom, you doubted everything about me because I didn’t have fancy credentials. I’m wondering if I relaxed my boundaries too much around you because you were a good challenge for me.”
You spun around and faced him. Hakyeon stopped dancing and waited for you to speak. You didn’t, simply staring at him for some time. He tilted his head to the side. “Am I no longer a good challenge?”
“You’re still a challenge,” you announced softly, chewing on your bottom lip. “It’s hard for me to not make you the face of all my dances I create. It’s frustrating that I can’t picture anyone else.”
“Are we still talking about dancing?” he asked, shifting closer. You eyed his movement but didn’t choose to step back. Hakyeon reached for your neck tenderly, resting his hand on the side of your face. “Or something else?”
“You never needed private dance sessions, Hakyeon. We both know I came up with the idea so we could dance together like this, without anyone else interrupting us.”
“You don’t actually think I’d give up precious sleeping hours just to dance with you, right? I’m definitely not here every time just because I can learn moves from you.”
“What have you come to learn then?”
He leaned down and placed a soft kiss on your lips. “The Y/N behind the dance moves.”
“And what do you think of her?” you asked breathlessly, watching him avidly. “Is she worth continuing these sessions with?”
“I’m no expert in love, but I’m pretty sure we could both figure it out together.”
“Well,” you mentioned airily, stepping away from Hakyeon and going to grab your belongings. “I guess I’ll see you next Friday morning. I’ll leave it up to you what we dance to next time.”
Hakyeon grinned. “I’m looking forward to it.”

Consonance, Chapter 1: Exposition
Fandom: SLBP Pairing: Mitsunari + MC Rating: No Warnings (NSFW in later chapters) Summary: Transferring to a new school, and a new orchestra, is no easy task for any student. Even less so when your new roommate and fellow violinist is a polite but mysterious young woman with an absolutely infuriating twin brother. (2k words, Modern + College AU) Author’s Note: This should be longer. This should be better. This should be a lot of things, but I am too stubborn to not post something on the Mitsun’s birthday, so have this first chapter anyways. There are many more to follow, eventually. MAJOR SPOILERS FOR MITSUNARI’S ROUTE.
It was impossible to be homesick in a violin shop, as long as one never opened their eyes. The layouts might change, the shape of the building or even the people within it, but some things never did. The faint strand of notes floating in from the back room where someone was changing out strings. Rosin and varnish and old old wood on the air, catching you up like a dear friend’s hug.
“Can I help you find anything, miss?” The employee’s polite voice broke your reverie, and you shook your head with a smile.
“No, thank you. I’m just looking for the moment.” At his nod, you turned to brush a wistful gaze over the lovely Hesketh on display, curling your fingers behind your back to keep from reaching out to touch it. Some off these violins cost more than you would pay for your entire higher education - even with having just transferred to a more expensive university in Tokyo.
You ambled further into the store, past rows of cellos and violas and mathematically precise hashmarks of bows lining the wall. Nestled in long cases of squeaky-clean glass was a myriad of chin and shoulder rests, reminding you that you’d meant to replace yours for awhile. Now, before starting up with a new ensemble, seemed as good a time as any.
“Your neck is too short to require a shoulder rest.”
You glanced up from the array, half expecting to see an overbearing employee dispensing advice - but the man beside you was young. Close to your own age, and startlingly handsome. Neatly dressed in a pullover sweater and slacks, with a shock of midnight-blue hair that kept trying to fall into his equally blue eyes - the only thing even remotely unruly about his tidy appearance. He had the relaxed air of one browsing as well.
“Excuse me?” Had he actually been talking to you? You glanced around, but there was no one else nearby.
Waving a hand at the display case, the man fixed you with a flat stare. “The shoulder rests. I noticed you looking. I was merely pointing out that they were unnecessary.”
The first, tiniest spark of irritation flared in your belly, and you returned his stare. “I’m quite sure I know what works for me, thank you very much.”
He only blinked at your reply. “Have you ever even tried without? You are aware that the shoulder rest is a relatively recent invention, and the old masters never would have dreamt of it. Even if they weren’t creating instruments with female players in mind.”
“I am. Very aware. Thank you. But I also know that it improves my vibrato.” You couldn’t believe you were even humoring this…this…patronizing.
“If you require a rest to support your vibrato, that simply means your vibrato motion needs to be changed.” He frowned then, the expression pinching what would have otherwise been elegant features. It figured, didn’t it? The prettiest ones were almost always jerks.
“I do not need to defend my decision whether to use a shoulder rest or not from some…random man at the violin shop.” Tension hunched your shoulders, and you kept your words barely above a hiss. You were not going to cause a scene the first time you’d stepped into a new place.
No matter how tempting the thought was, right now.
“I don’t believe anyone was asking you to. I stated a fact, you have chosen to dismiss said fact - there is little else to be gained from dwelling on the matter. If you insist on ignorance, by all means, carry on.” And with that he turned away dismissively, his attention falling on a nearby display of bows he immediately strode over to, leaving you gaping in his wake.
He walked away from you? You had half a mind to follow him, and finish giving him a piece of it, but the first step set the case slung over your shoulder tapping against your thigh and you tamped down the urge. You had business to take care of, boxes to finish unpacking, and groceries to snag - you didn’t have time to waste any more breath on arguing with a know-it-all.
You plucked the shoulder rest you’d been eyeballing from its spot and stalked over to the register with it.
“Please, don’t mind him,” the clerk behind the counter begged as you set it down, his weathered gaze flickering to the stiff, ramrod spine of the man you’d been arguing with. “Mitsunari is a regular here. He means well.”
Smothering your grimace, you handed over payment. “I hope he purchases enough to make up for all the business he’s probably lost you then,” you grumble, half under your breath.
Wrapping your item in a bag, the elderly man nodded. “He teaches violin lessons to children in the back space of this shop, actually. They bring in plenty of business.”
You half choked on your breath. “That man?” You pointed across the store at his still-turned back. “Teaches children? Do their parents dislike them?”
“You might be surprised.” Chuckling as if he knew a great secret, the man merely shook his head and offered you your parcel. “Have a good day, miss. I hope we see you back again.”
Loaded down with bags, you elbowed the button in the elevator for your floor, the action still novel enough to make you smile. Back home there was no need - your house was modest and the city small, still steeped in history and sleepy in its own way. Nothing like the immense bustle and dizzying heights of Tokyo.
Shifting your load to one arm you pressed the security code to unlock your door, the numbers dredged up from memory. You’d stared at them for hours upon receiving your housing arrangements from the school last month, the four simple digits seeming to hold all of the secrets of the universe. What was this apartment going to look like? Were you ready for a roommate? What sort of person was this woman going to turn out to be?
At least, you could be grateful you knew it would be a woman. That was one advantage of attending an all-women’s university.
The door swung open with a sleek hiss, opening onto a modern entryway with space to change your shoes. You’d already seen the neat, minimalistic interior when you and your mother and Yahiko had moved boxes in that morning, but you hadn’t seen any sign of your new roommate at that time. Not even a hint of personal items or touch amongst the bare essentials of the pre-furnished decor. Just a terse note left on the counter that explained they’d be back that evening.
But you noticed there was one less pair of house slippers than there had been earlier, and from down the hallway that led to the two bedrooms there was the faint sound of music. Lilting and full of bravura, clearly Paganini. The recognition brought a smile to your face.
Maybe this would go much smoother than you’d even hoped.
“I’m home,” you called, toeing your shoes off and putting on a pair of slippers before shuffling deeper into the apartment. It was spotless, if small, and your grocery haul was more than enough to blanket the small amount of counter-space afforded your tiny kitchen.
No matter, though. You’d grown up cooking in one almost as tiny as this, before the restaurant had finally begun turning profits and your mom had been able to move the three of you into a proper home.
You had your head stuffed partway into the half-sized refrigerator, stowing some fruits and vegetables, when a voice came from just over your shoulder, startling you. “Welcome home.”
A yelp of surprise found its way loose before you could squash it, and you jumped, cracking your head on the inside of the fridge. Tears immediately sprang to your eyes and you clapped your hands over your head, rubbing the sting away as you straightened. Coming face to…almost face with a tall woman whose features swam slightly in your blurred vision.
“I’m sorry. I didn’t mean to startle you,” she said, sounding genuinely remorseful. There was a pleasantly husky edge to her voice, and what little of her smile you could see carried a genial air, until she seemed to finally get a good look at you and her smile fell away, drawing the rest of her features tight as it did. “Are you alright?”
“Yeah, don’t worry.” You offered her a wobbly grin as you let your hands fall back to your sides, blinking back the rest of your watering eyes. “Can’t hurt something that’s empty, my mom always teased me.”
She smiled again, but even you could tell it was merely politeness and not genuine amusement at your bad joke. “I’m Saki. You must be…well, you know your own name. And I read the paperwork too.” Bowing just the right amount, she cut off any further discussion of the topic. “It is nice to meet you.”
Alright, that was almost uncanny. She looked…disturbingly like the man you’d spent the afternoon glaring holes through at the violin shop. The same deep blue eyes, the same angular face, the same dark hair - although hers was long and caught up in a plait, and she seemed to be missing the beauty mark below one eye you’d grudgingly noted on the man.
“Is something the matter? Do I have something on my face?” Her tone was mild, but there was a subtle edge to it, and you realized you’d been staring.
“No. It’s just that - this is going to sound very odd, but - do you have a brother, by any chance? About this high?” You gestured with your hands to the top of Saki’s head, fingers fluttering uncertainly. This was ridiculous, right? “Seems to frown a lot and has very….strong opinions?”
“Ah.” Saki made a small sound of acknowledgment, her gaze drifting away almost uncomfortably. “Mitsunari. My…twin brother.”
“I’d say so. You look almost exactly alike!”
Her expression grew pained, and you realized that perhaps it hadn’t come across the way you intended - maybe you’d offended her telling her she looked rather like a man. But at the same time, telling her you thought her brother was attractive (even if he had ruined the effect by opening his mouth) didn’t seem like the wisest course of action either. As you scrambled for something else to say, the awkward silence spooled out between you.
Saki broke the tension first. “It is possible you’ll see him again. I’ve always given him free use of the apartment. Since his is much further away and his school and work are so close by, sometimes he stops here to study or eat between them. Unless that will be a problem?”
“No,” you hastily reassured her. This had been mentioned briefly in the handful of emails you had exchanged before arriving, and it seemed petty to change your mind now simply because her brother had proven himself something of an ass upon your first meeting. “It’ll be fine, I’m sure.”
You hoped. Worst case, you could make yourself scarce when he came around.
She smiled politely, and pointed at a whiteboard on the refrigerator door that was covered in lines of neat print. “I put a rough schedule on there, for safety and so that you’ll never be surprised by his visits. If you would please fill in yours when you get your classes ironed out, that would be helpful.”
“I will.”
“And over here…” She moved past you in the small kitchen gracefully, managing to give you a wide berth in such a small space, and drew your attention to another grid tacked to the wall. “I have taken the liberty of putting together a chore chart. If you have objections to any of these, then we can discuss other arrangements.”
At the silent shaking of your head, Saki nodded with satisfaction. “Then if you’ll excuse me, I have studying to do. Good night.” Before you could scramble together a reply, or wonder what she could possibly have to study before classes had even started, she’d turned on a heel and disappeared back down the hallway, out of sight with the soft snick of a door sliding deliberately closed. Leaving you with a handful of bean sprouts and taking your half-formed hopes of a friendly first dinner with her.

TransformFriday
Okay, this is an idea that I've been meditating for a long time but I think now is the perfect time to carry it out. Because my favorite comic book (Transformers MTMTE-LL) will soon come to an end, I have decided to carry out this idea: my own Top Ten of favorite transformers... drawing version! The truth is that the end of MTMTE and LL generates me many mixed emotions: on the one hand I am happy because at last I will be able to know the end of the story and I will not observe how my favorite series becomes the next infinitetale (I will not say names ... but we all know who they are ...) but on the other hand I'm so sad about it. This is a story that has marked me and I know that when the comic ends I will no longer be the same person as before. This (at least for me) is a special moment, comparable to when Inuyasha, Death Note and Evangelion ended. I remember fondly when I started reading it: back then I still had the hype of transformers prime and I was looking for more things about it and then a friend in a forum recommended Transformers More Than Meets the Eye and I started reading it (specifically I got it in chapter 18, the house of ambus) and I was speechless with what I found. All the characters were so similar and at the same time so different from everything I already knew. I remember how I was surprised by the lore and all the mythology that had been assembling around the transformable robots and seeing how a world was created so unique and credible with such a cliche premise and yet I fell completely in love with it. I hallucinated with neurosurgery and empurata, I loved how action and psychology were balanced in about 20 pages in such a harmonious way, and the characters ... my god, the characters! I love how James Roberts takes you by the hand and makes you walk the halls of lost light with his characters, I remember being so sad with Tailgate's disease, getting excited about the battle between cyclones and Starsaber, to love and hate the same time to Tarn for his personality, to be moved for the scavengers, the evolution of rodimus and Megatron. For my Transformers it has not been another series of my childhood. James Roberts and Alex Minle have taught me what someone can do with dedication, hard work and a lot of imagination and their comics are not an empty reading. Thanks to this story I have learned so many important lessons from life and myself, I have come to learn how strong and courageous I can be. Thanks to MTMTE I was encouraged to write and draw my first comic, I learned that the hardest It is forgiveness to yourself, I have learned that it is not bad to ask for help and how powerful teamwork is, thanks to TMTMTE I wrote my degree thesis ... My God I can say it, Thanks to Transformers I got graduated! And finally, thanks to MTMTE transformers I still find the strength to continue doing what I like, which is to draw. That's why I decided to celebrate these last months of Transformers drawing my ten favorite characters and of course explaining why every Friday (of course the position 1 and 2 already know them, I'll leave you below the links if you're interested) because the end of this wonderful saga will also mark the end of a stage of my life and is that the truth, without TMTMTE I would be a completely different person and that is why it is and always will be one of my favorite series.
Top Ten
1.-Prowl
Tumblr media
If you have read any of the wreckers comics then you know that Prowl is a bastard. He is not a noble, kind, or honest hero, I can not even call him good. Actually Prowl is a villain who "fortunately" plays for the good side. If I had to define Prowl in a word that would be hate. He hates the decepticons, he hates the new cybertron, he hates his leader/friends for not listening him, even I think that sometimes he hates himself, his life and especially his failures and that's why I love it. I love the contradiction and the final message of Prowl: hatred has turned him into what he most detests. Ironically, Prowl is more decepticon than many cons and at the same time that hate is the fuel that drives him to improve every new plan and fight for a future and a peace that may get to destroy him. He is cruel, manipulative and ruthless but also has moments of weakness and even compassion ................. although he is still a bastard and has not been able to overcome his ex-boyfriend. I love Prowl because he is not a character, he is a person, he is very real and very human and the world and his own decisions have made him into what he is today.
2.- Starscream
Tumblr media
Leaving megatron aside, my favorite decepticon is Starscream. Either in comics or in the animated series Screamer always amuses me and always manages to make me smile ... basically because I love to see him fail in everything he does. I do not joke, either bad luck or his own ambition always make him fail. If Prowl is hatred, Starscream is ambition. he reminds me a little the homuncle of FMAB Greed, he wants it all, power, wealth, fame, fear, respect and especially the decepticon leadership.
He knows he is the best option to be the leader of the decepticons and he is an incredibly ruthless person who does not hesitate to lie, murder and manipulate everyone to meet their own whims but like Prowl Star is much more than just ambition. I'm not going to say that he's not so bad or he can redeem himself or some stupidity of the style (I really hate that) but Starscream has a reason to be like that. He is an incredibly lonely person who has struggled to survive before, during and after the war. He has learned that he can not count on anyone because sooner or later they will betray him and that is why he only sees the people around him as pawns. He's logic: if you do not approach or attach to anyone they can not betray you. deep down he knows that sooner or later his bad deeds will overtake him and he must prepare himself.
And yet Starscrean has virtues as great as his flaws: he is incredibly determined and hardworking, when he wants something he does not skimp on resources, time or effort in getting it, he is extremely intelligent (probably not as much as Prowl but he is a force to have in account) and he always learns from his mistakes. I would say that's why he has had such a long reign in comics and even has moments of humanity and genuine compassion. Maybe he really wants to redeem himself ... but he knows that he is beyond all salvation and that for him it is too late.
3.-Cyclonus
Tumblr media
The truth is that this is a character that I find it hard to talk about, basically because he is someone I love so much and I identify so much that I block myself.
I will start strong: Cyclonus is my perfect waifu, he is a revision to the classic stereotype of the solitary warrior and constantly reminds us that every age, however dark or terrible it may have been, created beauty. Fuck, Cyclonus loves any form of art: music, writing, architecture and also he is a killing machine that can slice just about anyone, what else could you ask for? And in spite of him being so cultured he has a huge darkness inside him, of course Cy is fully aware of that and always tries to channel it ... with mixed results.
But the truth is that the feature with which I most identify with cyclonus is his sense of honor and loyalty, that is something that resonates a lot with me. The moment that I see Cyclonus is willing to do him on the side in order to ensure the happiness of the person he loves the most is something that makes my throat tighten. Besides that his relationship with Tailgate is the best yaoi I've read, let's be honest and he has the best sentence ever written. you want to know? You will have to read the comic because the spoiler is not from God.
Tumblr media
4.- Megatron
Of course Megsi was to be in my topten, he is almost a god in my pantheon (sorry optimus). I love all the incarnations of Megatron except for the transformers prime novel (seriously, a revolutionary who hates the primes but he wants to be a prime …. what the hell?) But my favorite so far is the IDW Megatron , he is a very complex character that goes through different stages: fallen, self-discovery, acceptance, temptation, redemption … all a carousel of emotions. He pass from being a ruthless murderer to a pacifist in constant conflict with himself. Although my favorite aspect about megatron is its moral: we all deserve a second chance … but redeption is not as easy as bowing your head and apologizing. Throughout MTMTE and LL Megs works every minute of his life to redeem his mistakes even when he knows they are too big and as he advances towards his death he knows perfectly well that there is a possibility that no one will forgive him but that does not stop him. Megatron words always resonate strongly within me: We are all work in progress.
Tumblr media
5.- RungMy second perfect waifu and a cinnamon roll too pure for this world. Rung is the most adorable autobot ever drawn … until he takes off his glasses and becomes the greatest latinlover ever created. But leaving aside my inclination for robots, Rung is an incredible character, I know that many joke about the theory which says that Rung is the self-inception of Roberts, but I think that rather Rung is the connection with the reader. He is a character that has been kept at bay from most problems by having a very convenient good luck, he is skinny, short, lovable, sometimes too much kind and he prefers conversation rather than confrontation but he is not weak On the contrary, Rung has incredible mental and emotional strength. he has not only endured that everyone, absolutely ALL mispronounce his name at least once, Rung listens to the problems and confessions of others around him to make a living; he literally knows the worst of all, he knows the darkness that dwells within each of his companions … and that never stops him from helping or comforting others. If I had to define the role of Rung in some archetype that would be the maternal one. Of course there are parents in fiction who are loving and protective, but the mother figure always ends up being kinder, the comforter and the one that drives you to improve and that is precisely the raxon for which I love Rung.I have met many maternal characters but what makes the difference with Rung (besides being male) is the moment in which (spoiler alert) during the kidnapping of Fortress Maximus, Rewind reproduces a part of the torture in Garrus 9 and Max, realizing that he is doing exactly the same as Overlord and reliving those horrible memories, he throws himself to the ground to mourn and Rung, with a patience of a saint, despite the kidnapping and even though Max had yanked his thumb out… he surrounds him with a kind arm and tells him that everything will be fine and everything ends for today. That’s something my mother could have done.Because deep down Rung is that, he is kindness and he teaches us the strength found in compassion and as the functionalist universe demonstrates, Rung possesses incredible strength of character and determination and he is capable of giving his life to save those who he care … and that’s a large number of people.

Betrayal - Chapter 12
Now that Lena has joined her father and the Titans against the Gods, her loyalties made clear. Her betrayal of all she once held dear haunts her every day. But she made her choice and as the war between the Gods and Titans draws near, Lena’s allegiances will be put to the test. Does she help bring about the end of the reign of the Gods? Or will her love for Kara Danvers and the friendships she made along the way be enough to stop the daughter of Hyperion.
Or
A PJO inspired Supercorp series. Part Two: Betrayal.
Read it here on AO3
I.
Kara sat in J’onn’s office, alone with the headmaster himself. “And this is to be your new role in this fight Kara?” He asked seriously. She nodded.
“It is. My father believes I’m the only one strong enough for it.” She said quietly. J’onn sat back in his chair, nodding.
“It is not my place to question the Gods. But are you sure you are up for this Kara?” The son of Ares asked out of concern. “We both know that Lena will certainly be a part of many future battles. And I know she is something of a sore subject for you…” He trailed off. But Kara nodded.
“We would be meeting again regardless of this arrangement or not, J’onn. But my father is right, we need leadership, someone equivalent of Lena’s position here, to rally our forces. I can do that!” Kara insisted. “It’s not like I’m not already part of our war council meetings anyway! Everyone here trusts me.” She reasoned. She had their confidence, she knew she could lead them to defend Olympus.
J’onn just nodded. “If you’re sure Kara. I was going to let everyone know this at our next meeting, but since you’re here, we’ve found the location of the Titan’s base here in the city. An underground bunker network not far from here. I’ve already sent a few haflbloods from Hermes dorm to scout. They should return sometime in the next few days.” He confided in the new commander. Kara nodded.
“Do we know anything about their next attack? When it might be? And how many?” She asked. J’onn shook his head.
“We don’t know much. I’ve received some early reports that Lena seems to be undergoing additional training. Something to do with her performance in their last fight. But we don’t know anything about it. Just that it is going to be a week or two. So I’d assume we’re not expecting another attack until then.” He reasoned. Kara nodded, time for her to test her new powers. “Get some rest, Kara. I think after everything, you’ve earned it.” He said. Kara grimaced but nodded. She got up out of the chair, jokingly saluting at J’onn.
The two shared a smile before Kara exited his office and headed, not back to her room, but to find Winn. She beelined for the forges since she figured that was probably the most likely place to find the son of Hephaestus. And her guess was right since she found Winn pouring over some of his schematics on one of the workbenches. He lifted his head as she entered, smiling and waving at her.
“Hey, Kara! What brings you here?” He asked curiously. Kara shrugged, sitting down across from her, looking at the blueprints.
“What are these?” She asked, genuine in her curiosity. Winn was one of the most brilliant inventors she had ever met.
“Oh, these? Schematics for the monster grenades. I’ve been trying to find a way to attach a homing device or something to them so they can target monsters, not halfbloods.” He said. Kara nodded. She remembered the first time he has tested those grenades on the Scythian Dracaena what seemed like forever ago. “So, how are you holding up?” He asked. He knew that she had been going through emotional turmoil for the last few days. Kara just shrugged.
“I... “ She considered lying, but they both knew that she was terrible at it. So she groaned. “I don’t know what to do Winn.” She confessed. “I was summoned by the Gods.” She confided in him. He and everyone else was going to find out at some point. Winn looked surprised.
“What for?” He asked.
“They wanted me to become our commander. To match Lena.” She said quietly. Winn went silent for a few minutes, gazing at Kara, appraising her.
“And you’re okay with that?” He finally asked her, the blueprints in front of him all but ignored. Kara put her elbows on the table, her chin resting in her hands.
“I’ve got to be.” She mumbled. Her eyes flicked to Winn. “I do have a favor to ask you though.” She said hesitantly. Winn just grinned, gesturing for her to continue. “I know you’re busy with our weapons and all, but I was wondering if you have the time to design me a suit of armor?” She asked. She figured that she probably shouldn’t be going up against Lena, who was fully equipped, completely unprotected.
Winn smiled and nodded eagerly. “Oh yeah! I’ve been wanting to design you a suit for months, Kara!” He said, excitedly getting up and folding the schematics in front of him up, heading over to a drawer, pulling it open. He pulled out a tube, opening the top and pulling a large piece of paper out of it. He padded back over to Kara, rolling it out in front of her. Kara raised an eyebrow.
Before her was a full design for an armor set. “You’ve been…. Busy.” She commented, looking down at the designs. Winn just shrugged.
“What can I say? You’re my best friend. If I could design something to keep you safe, you know I would in a heartbeat.” He replied. Kara’s heart clenched at the confession. “I actually have been redesigning parts of it ever since I saw Lena’s armor.” He admitted. “The original designs weren’t as flexible and easy to move in. But after getting a look at how hers was made, they seemed to have made it out of different individual plates covering what looked like something of a bodysuit. So I asked Maxwell for ideas and he said that the bodysuit could be made out of arrow resistant material and the plates could be made for protection against blade attacks, close combat, you know?” He asked, pausing. Kara nodded, following where he was going. “It wouldn’t be exactly like hers because obviously, I don’t know how hers was made, but it did give me a lot of ideas, design wise.” He said sheepishly. Kara nodded.
“Do you think you’d have the time to give it a test run?” She asked hesitantly. He nodded without a second though.
“For you? Anything.” He said reassuringly. Kara smiled gratefully.
“You’re the best Winn. Let me know if you need any help. I owe you, big.” She said.
“That’s what friends are for Kara. But I’ll keep that in mind, there’s probably from scrap metal around here somewhere that I can find.” He teased. Kara rolled her eyes.
“Well let me know. I’m sure you’ll put me to work.” She teased back.
II,
The next few days mainly consisted of Kara spending time in the training arena, alone out in a field, working on expanding her powers and in the forges helping Winn. It was good to finally be able to get her mind off of everything, relatively speaking. She worked on improving her skill with the sword, drilling herself on different methods of attack and defense. Her mind constantly drifting to the way she memorized Lena’s movements. How talented her friend had become over the years. From day one, Kara knew Lena had a lot of raw potential that just needed to be cultivated. And it seems that it had been.
If she was honest with herself, she was also a little embarrassed that Lena had been able to disarm her. And as much as she wanted to blame the fact she hadn’t seen Lena in two years and had been distracted by her, she knew that wasn’t the case. Lena was just that good. And Kara got the feeling that she had far more tricks up her sleeve that she hadn’t pulled out the last time.
Kara would also spend hours away from the school buildings, though still within the relative safety of Demos' campus, testing the limits of her newfound power. It wasn’t as impactful as Kara had imagined, though she figured it was because they were siphoned powers from the Titans, rather than Lena who had been born with them. Rather they helped her to be more on par with Lena herself.
The blonde found her stamina had significantly increased, both physically and in regards to her powers. Kara recalled that when she had been first learning to control her air manipulation powers, she could often only use them for a very short time before becoming exhausted. Her stamina grew as she trained more, but she had her limits. Now, after she had absorbed the power of the Titans, she found that it was far easier to use her powers and she could use them longer. Kara wondered if, eventually with enough work, she could use them without limit.
Kara could often be found manipulating air currents around her, flying around the fields she was training in. She found it calmed her somehow. After all, children of Zeus were made to take on the sky. She would just spend hours zipping around the fields until her stamina depleted and she was forced to ground herself for a while. Though this increase in stamina did not come with a significant power increase. Her powers, while they had a little bit more of a punch to them, did not get any significant strength increase. Which Kara figured was a good thing. She was already something of a loose cannon just being a daughter of Zeus.
Sometimes in the evenings, she would just watch the setting sun. She recalled the few days that she had done that with Lena and Kara always found herself close to tears. Aphrodite had given her hope that Lena could still be saved, but she still wondered. Was she up for the task? Lena seemed so far detached from everything they had once shared that it seemed like a daunting task to try to make her remember. But Kara was not a quitter. She promised Lena that she’d fight for her and that was exactly what she was going to do, even if that means fighting against Lena.
Kara also found herself helping Winn where she could. She was asking him for a big favor, it was the least she could do. The son of Hephaestus mostly had her running around and getting supplies for him. And stood in for fittings without complaining. Kara had to admit, Winn was extremely talented and had an eye not only for reliability and practicality but also for aesthetics. He had designed her suit with an arrow resistant bodysuit, black in color and paired it with the blade resistant plating, red and blue in color. And at Kara’s request had added her family’s crest to one of the shoulder plates. Kara had been rather insistent about it. It made her feel like her family was right there with her, if not physically, but in spirit. And not just the family she had lost, but all those that she had gained over the years. The Danvers, Alex especially, James, Winn, Mon-El, Maggie. And Lena. The demititan might have lost her way, but didn’t everyone at some point in their life? That’s what family was for. To be there when times were tough.
III.
A week passed before the Hermes scouts returned to Demos. At which point, Kara and everyone else was summoned to J’onn’s office to discuss the intel they had gathered. Kara had told all of them of her meeting with the Gods steadily over the week, starting with Winn, then Alex and Maggie, then Mon-El and James. They had all been somewhat concerned but trusted that Kara could handle it and all of them knew they would follow Kara wherever their journey took them.
“You all know why you’re here,” J’onn said grimly. Kara nodded hesitantly. She was very wary of what possible information that could have been gathered. But she couldn’t skip out this time. She had to see this through to the end.
“Is it that bad?” Mon-El asked, noting a look on J’onn’s face. The man nodded.
“This is probably going to be difficult for all of you to hear, but you all need to know what we’re up against.” He replied. Kara felt her stomach clench, but she swallowed and nodded. J’onn opened a folder on his desk. Recounting what their scouts had found.
IV.
“Get up!” Hyperion hissed. Lena groaned, but did has her father asked, getting back up, her body aching from the physical strain that was being put on it. She only had just enough time to raise her swords in defense as he attacked again. They were blurring in and out of a normal human’s visual perception, almost moving too quickly to be seen at all. Lena tried to defend herself against her father’s relentless attacks, but once again had her feet kicked out from underneath her in a show of speed that she couldn’t match, landing on her back again, a sword at her chest. She looked up defiantly at Hyperion, frowning.
“What good is this doing exactly?” She asked as he stepped back, giving her room to get back to her feet, brushing herself off. “Showing me my place? Because I’m fully aware of where I am and where I belong.” She spat. Hyperion hardened his gaze at her.
“As I said, I tried to protect you from Kronos’ wishes regarding your feelings. But this is getting out of hand.” He hissed. “Your feelings for the halfbloods are crippling your ability to do what has to be done, Lena.” He insisted. “Twice now you have left them alive when you had perfect opportunities to kill them.” Lena just blinked.
“I did what I felt was right in the situation.” She responded. Hyperion sighed.
“And that is precisely the problem, Lena. These people are no longer your friends. They don’t care about you. They would never join you. Join us. They are just as dead set on protecting the gods and their corruption as much as we are set to destroy them. You can’t save them. They’ve chosen their side. And you are going to have to choose yours.” Hyperion said dangerously. Suddenly, the burn mark on her wrist started to glow, a white hot pain coursing through Lena’s body. She managed to not scream out in agony, but fell to one knee, rubbing at the mark, gritting her teeth. She looked up at Hyperion, his eyes glowing brighter than normal. “You made your choice a long time ago Lena. Now act like it.” He said coolly, his eyes fading and the pain going away.
V.
Kara was clenching the arms of the chair rather tightly as they listened to J’onn recounted a number of tales that their scouts had gathered. Most regarding the tentative attack plan the Titans had coming. Though it was hard to piece those together since it seemed the Titans didn’t share their full plans with many people if any at all. And the intel about Lena was the worst. “See, she’s not fully in control of the situation. We just have to convince her that we can protect her!” Kara insisted after the latest piece of information about Lena.
“Kara, just because she’s suffering at their hands doesn’t mean she’ll want to join us,” Alex said, though not without some caution. She and Kara had been working on being more receptive to each other’s ideas and opinions regarding the demititan. “I’m just saying that Hyperion does have a point. She’s trying to help them destroy Olympus. And we can’t let them. Even if she is not fully in control.” Alex warned. Winn and J’onn nodded in agreement, though James, Mon-El, and Maggie were a little more skeptical.
“Unfortunately Kara, your sister is right. Unless Lena comes to us and convinces us that she’s worth trusting again, we have to be wary of her. She is a threat.” J’onn said. Kara pouted but didn’t argue. She knew that they were right. She just wanted desperately to believe that she could be the one to convince Lena to change course. “We know that they will be launching another attack on the school within a matter of days. We all need to be ready. Kara, are you ready to step up and lead?” He asked their new commander. James put a reassuring hand on his friend’s shoulder. Kara looked around the room, everyone giving her an encouraging nod. She just sighed.
“I don’t know. But I have to be ready, whether I’m actually ready or not.”
I'm really... not happy with this chapter but it's the best I could get out. I've been fighting some writer's block recently and just tried to power through. I was debating between doing a Lena or a Kara chapter for this period of time, but I went with a Kara chapter. I feel like I want to establish her a bit more/better and all Lena's being doing at this time is erm... getting 'trained' by Hyperion which I don't even know how to write a full chapter for. So I went with a bit of Kara instead.
I think next chapter is another head to head fight so it should be a little more interesting. Hopefully.

Oh! I wanna hear your hyper critical opinions towards p3 (and p4 if youre up to it). I am genuinely curious as to what it is!
pDSOAPFADFJIOA;FJIA;JF;DA Ahhhhhhh if only I wrote down everything I said (I did this over a year ago). under the cut cause long:
It was easier cause I was ripping it as we played and I had some nitpicks in the dialogue (more so with like “WAIT THAT MAKES NO SENSE!” or “WHY ARE YOU JUMPING TO THAT CONCLUSION?!” kinda thing rather than a translation error). But I can’t really specify what it was cause it was so long ago. The only one that comes to mind is when they’re jerks to Naoto, it must be how she’s talking in Japan cause like.......they’re really, REALLY rude to her. Like, they do realize she has a right to be suspicious of them right? Like, don’t get me wrong, I loooooooove the animosity in some way (great foe-yay/rival shipping yay fodder for me to ship her with the MC ahuhuhu 8U) but dang I wish they made more tension (and made it even). That’s actually the one thing I thought the P4 anime did right (and trust me I don’t think that anime did a lot of things right, esp concerning Naoto...ironically XD), they really built the tension between her and the group very well. Anyway I want to go into more detail some other time, maybe when I replay the two games, but for now I’ll give you a general overview).
Ok so all and all I think P3 and P4 are fine the way they are. They did a good job with them. P3 for being Hashino’s first hoorah into the series (also didn’t have enough time or money to include everything and had to cut stuff, LIKE THE FEMC! ;W;), and P4 for.....having such....a small.....budget....and....not a lot of time....and.....the company was struggling.....Like dang man I’m surprised we got P4. So like, compared to P5, I’m a lot easier on these two cause in one case Hashino was trying to find his style, and the other he was struggling with working with almost nothing (P5, however, didn’t have any of these issues).
Ok so like.....My biggest issue with P3 is mostly it’s characters and character relationships. P4.....I wish we could’ve hung out with Naoto earlier (even before she joined the team, that would’ve been interesting if the MC and her met up and attempted to draw more info out of each other about the case), and I wouldn’t have minded if they added more to the murder plot.
P3....ngl the first act until Aigis show’s up is.....so....slow.....and boring....and no one is really likeable imo. I hated Yukari, I hated Junpei. Mitsuru seemed interesting but she wouldn’t hang out. Akihiko....didn’t really care for him, but I couldn’t  hang out with him. I couldn’t hang out with Yukari or Junpei if I wanted to (Yukari won’t hang out till around Aigis joins anyway, I remember from my last playthrough we tried, it was an NG+ and she snubbed us). Kenji is a moron (don’t hate him, feel bad for him, but god so boring), Kaz is a moron, didn’t do Yuko the first time (should’ve I did like her, hate I only got the first rank the first time I ever played through P3), I didn’t like Chihiro (she started off fine but was kinda creepy later on), can’t hang with Fuuka unless you have maxed courage cause eff me (not like I can ever remember her gd link anyways that’s how forgettable it is, I don’t even like Yukari but at least I remember her’s). Basically......the SL sucked balls. Major balls (I liked Maiko, the Star dude, the old couple, the Hermit, and the Devil......I guess the Tower too he was ok, and....that’s it....for outside teammate links aka Aigis and Mitsuru). Silly was not a happy camper when she popped P3 in after having fun with P4 (and esp after being told P3 was a GAZZILLION TIMES BETTER!!!!1!), tbh I took like a 4 month break from P3 and replayed P4 before I picked P3 back up (after Aigis showed up I def enjoyed it a heck of a lot more after that). Now, P3′s plot is really good and very solid, it’s P3′s strong point. My issue is that.....everything P3 does is for the sake of the plot. It does it well, don’t get me wrong, but everything about the characters is only happening cause “plot demands it.” They never felt super fleshed out, and it’s probably why they feel a little odd (maybe even flat-ish) in the spinoff games (even more so than the P4 team), cause the spinoff games aren’t relying on their (P3′s) plot. I also don’t buy a lot of their friendships (esp the males teammates with the Male MC), Yukari and Mitsuru’s is....ok (I don’t like how the game makes it feel like “oh you have a dead dad? me too! let’s be friends” as a thing, I know she’s just trying to relate and sympathize but.....I’ve seen that as a complaint come up by a lot of people, for someone so popular Yukari isn’t much of a people person in this regard, from how the game frames it that is). Also the fact you can’t friend girls. There’s not a lot of bonding moments in the game, there’s more than P5, but I still don’t feel as close to the team as I should even by the end. And gawd, Ryoji? Wut I’m friends with him now? How? When? I like the guy but I don’t think he likes me. You’d think he’d want to hang out with me cause.....PHAROS! ;W;
There’s more but I don’t want to leave you hanging, but anyway it’s just....I have a lot of issues with how the characters are handled. They’re good characters, I wish there just....more to them. But the thing is.....THIS IS AN EASY FIX! You’ve probably heard me say about the P5 manga/anime “a change in medium can do wonders” or something like that. That’s cause I have P3 to look at. The manga and movies do wonders for P3 my problems with P3. There’s more bonding, character relationships are improved yadda yadda. Yes there are issues within the manga and movies themselves...... but they do a lot of good things too. One of the things the movies did was actually......influenced by it’s P3P remake (aka establish a relationship with Ryoji, yay!). Oh man, P3P/the FeMC fixed sooooooooooooo many problems (it also added some even more awesome duality to a game that already had a lot of duality going on with it), I can talk to Yukari and Junpei from the get go (and they treat me different, and more pleasantly than when I played as the dude), I can actually hang out with the guys (and I DON’T automatically have to date them, in fact I have to work to date them, every single one), the stats for character requirements are laid out more fairly like in P4 so by the time someone is available I can probably talk to them (without having to kill myself trying to manage my social stats). But man, the first act just flows so much better when you’re able to bond with your teammates (also Rio and Saori are great SLs!). Even tho they don’t change the female SLs pretty much at all (making it veeeery gay XD), it does feel like it is at least a friendship by the end (even tho I’m literally dating everyone and you can’t tell me otherwise! 8U). I also love her personality comes across more clearing (and varied) than the males, there’s a more clear progression of her psyche than her male counterpart (it’s still there, just not as obvious, and I love how they’re inverted to each other~! :D). It’s just, with P3, the really minor changes go a LOOOOOOOOOOONG way. The only thing I would change with P3 is the minor stuff. Just add more scenes (that don’t take up time) to the game, on both sides. Gameplay wise add more SLs, alternative SLs even. Heck, if they remade the game, I think being able to go to new places would be cool (and it’d be where you’d meet your new SLs) cause man you’re in a city, you deserve to do more stuff! It’s just the little things man, the little things can make a big impact! It says something that probably my fav Persona fanfic and fav Strain42 Persona parody comicis the P3(P) ones, even tho P4 is my fav game. You change a few things around, even the medium, and it makes a difference.
Ok onto P4. Now P4 is the opposite of P3, with P4 it’s strong point is it’s characters. The characters drive P4. P4 is character based, P3 is plot based. P4 the plot takes a back seat. This is fine, it works in P4′s favor, like how the plot worked in P3′s favor. P4′s plot is ok, it does a great job with supporting the characters. Sadly I understand if you wanted more murder mystery (or just mystery) in a murder mystery game. And in P4′s defense, again, it had a barebones budget and not a lot of time and the company was doing pretty bad and P4 still came out pretty great (was the most popular before P5 came out, lord knows if it may even come out on top again if it gets an updated graphics/gameplay remake). And it’s also really hard to keep a murder mystery going for about 70-100ish hours (and only finally solving it in the last 1/5 of the game). Also P4, like P3 (forgot to mention that above), sticks to it’s theme really well. Even making it solving it/obtaining the good ending routes semi-difficult. Sure you can deduce Adachi, but tbh it’s also difficult. They do a pretty decent job building the guy up as a friend (even more so in P4G due to the SL). Izanami is also well hidden. The game makes you work and it rewards you.
Now if I were to change stuff.....it’d range from minor to major depending on what we’re talking about. Minor would be adding more scenes of Naoto bonding (she needs it cause the late game doesn’t do her justice), and like I mentioned above, I think have a deduction off would be interesting (Naoto’s SL was one of my favs cause of how we solved a gd mystery, god I’m so mad that never made it into the anime, even as an ova, it could’ve been a great team-building filler one too). Another thing I’d add would maybe be.....something similar to quests, but instead you have to solve a mystery (which means talking to people, and investigating areas), it can range from finding a cat in a tree or finding a bully or whatever. Just something minor that can give the mystery lovers something fun to do. I’d also have Izanami/gas station attendant be an SL (she originally was the Empress before giving that to Margret). Oh I’d also like to take Margret out on “dates” (c’mon gimme dem fun shenanigans).  And.....now this can be minor or major (depending on what they do, but it’s probably more major), add another red herring. I don’t care how.....but....it would help draw attention away from Adachi. Maybe they’re added from some of the mini mysteries you solved, maybe they squeeze an extra dungeon into the game some how-some way (doubt it for the later, that’d be a major change), but another red herring would be good.
For a Major change it’d be restructuring the plot a looooooot, adding more dungeons for more red herrings. I would actually make Dojima a red herring. He originally was suppose to be the killer (but they thought that was too dark, understandable), with Adachi as the red herring instead. Other than that I’m not exactly sure how they’d overhaul that. I mean, if they made a P4 game based off of P3P’s route (aka different route/game, different killer), I’d like to see their prototype stuff play out. Short-haired ice queen Yukiko, delinquent/bully Rise, Pretty boy Naoto (actual boy this time, also make him dateable.....what? I like Naoto 8U), 1st year MC, Female Teddie, Adult(?) Kanji, Dojima as the killer, Adachi as the red herring (Chie and Yosuke are actually pretty much the same). I’d really like to see that.
But tbh, I don’t really know where to start in giving P4 a major overhaul (except to go with the prototype set up), possibly cause it’d mean introducing/creating new characters. But P5? I do, oh man I know where I would start (P5 is where I’d make my major changes left and right, no minor changes here...except maybe dungeon 1), I’d make soooooo many changes to P5. But that’s for another time (not now, it’d take too long). 8U

We have seen a few large hits for instance mobage’s rage of bahamut and rectangular enix’s guard blend, but the majority of other types have become wasted while in the large water of no cost-to-enjoy cellphone programs. The town To ensure you don't have got to think twice of just obtaining thrown in to the significant surface of your swimming pool area on initially special day. I obviously don't enjoy xp bots of this nature nonetheless it is not going to really developed into so bad at which it's intolerable. |I'm in a position to advocate this for everyone who loves these kinds of xp bots. These summoners wield bad magical all over the battlefield, freezing their foes in position, depleting their foes of effectiveness, along with obtaining down pours of fireside minimal throughout heavens. We make sure you visit Code Promo Summoners War Gratuit: sky area, a whole new Will this game enjoy offered in summoner wars transcend time, or has it'd its special day? Keep reading to search out out… the main components in this particular set (minus helpful tips manual). Within the set-up you will be delivered to about three of your credit card different kinds right away: surfaces, widespread devices, together with your summoner. Walls charge cards are thought circumstance charge cards and they are completed over the ‘play circumstance cards’ point. This is certainly tremendous for the reason your devices is used on an vacant slot next to a divider credit card, then when you exhaust walls… you are unable to summon! (yes !, it is incredibly unfamiliar that surfaces are required for summoning, but that’s an element of the game’s allure, genuinely!) the stages are shorter and limited with a small number of decisions happening located in them each one flip. Relocating a pair or Ouch! I certainly really enjoyed just how a code enjoy happened to run from point to point devoid of actually reaching really rely an too much capacity of all over the useful resource credit card. |Everything expanded to grow all natural and many types of i must be anxious about was my approach as well as the good fortune of your roll for the duration of handle. Of the holding your devices on the charge cards discarded while in the assemble magical point, pretty much everything have to be considered wisely. Opting for a thing that appears to be it fits you is likely the finest. It is depressing there is not lots more bedroom centered on the art, as it is fantastic and contains generated a large number of followers to develop their particular fan artwork. Perhaps it is under 20 minutes or larger sixty minutes roughly, even so the a person component that is still constant will be the concentration of the overcome. I like the wild instances which may evolve of your code - summoning alongside surfaces, close to death and killing my personal devices to purchase to return some magical earlier than releasing my personal resist-offensive. And for people with persistence, some having to pay hard cash, along with a heavy wish to keep up with the grind, you will recognize that this introduce could very well be value receiving. Monsters belong to assorted functions as well , for instance attackers, tankers, followers, and shield-founded animals. Summoner wars [] can be described as crossbreed ccg / small to medium sized road map approach code somewhat simillar to mojang's incredibly-predicted . |The iap is modeled with this of plaid hat's credit card code, with every last faction buying a "bottom" deck as well as an enlargement set, readily available for 99¢ each one. The game's deck-generating vehicle tech will work really well, with 3 champion and 18 widespread (no-exclusive model) slot machine games for every deck. That have an apple iphone or ipod gadget impression, the bank card words is small to medium sized even zoomed-in, when taking a look at your whole road map, the bank card artwork is hardly big enough to discern between charge cards. (2) a game title name this tricky specifications an excellent in-code instructions. (6) the application form is very unforgiving of mistaps. The actual chess time clock, in some instances called "fischer chess time clock" simply provides a period of time "bank," that just starts to matter minimal from a small amount of pre-figured out amount of time has history. Let us gain a person aspect totally obvious - summoner wars is just fabulous - fascinating, ideal, an abundance of factions, exceptional energies, major depth and array in a shorter code. In addition stat traffic monitoring stones !. |But unfortunately, as is still mentioned, playdek could and also Just a few factors regarding the assess - the ai may also use 4 factions, not merely tundra orcs - worldwide can be described as great aspect, not really a negative. Or no matter what sort of gathering he deems perfect for winning a credit card code. Accordingly, each one rounded you will need to determine whether them as part of your arms are necessary a good amount of to help keep, or maybe they'd very last more attractive as magical (you won't ever have them to return - you merely see the deck when). But that is certainly how we Reasonably, most code services seem to own vanished using this system because the expenditure and prospect of building a new branding, as a result i significantly favour this online marketing on the ccg unique prepare opening. So i'll select it. code, and i certainly be ready to participating in the sport a great deal a large number of noticing what choices are easily available along with all the various races, expansions, . . .. |There's a few a variety of expansions - mercenaries, reinforcements, and factions. xp bots like summoner wars give it time to be simple to comprehend why deck-generating xp bots do really well about this new medium sized, particularly because the expanding acceptance of asynchronous multiple-competitor code enjoy. The sprawling overcome grids believe in the home all over the apple ipad (the apple iphone version is pinched and hard to ascertain at circumstances) and moving while using the struggles is simple. What actually helps make summoner wars stand out when it comes to code enjoy is having the capability to guidance 6 assorted xp bots at the same time. During summoner wars in no way develops the endorphin hurry of opening a foil enhancer prepare to find a particularly unusual credit card looking forward to you, it will eventually be that condition credit card-founded approach xp bots is unquestionably doable on mobile units. Actually it is really not true that you may only wager complementary numbers as compared to the orcs free of cost. credit card/board-code professional on ios... |Thankfully, you don't have got to come up with my mistake… from the folks at plaid cap xp bots did an excellent project all over the field artwork to get that summoner wars professional set. And, for anybody who is happy to stack two decks together with each other, there is a large amount of room for those most recent summoner wars decks while in the field - irrespective of credit card sleeves! (could this assess be nowadays geekified? Field put in seriously like?!) also integrated are (not surprisingly) the specified dice And counter tops to experience the game… along with a superb two-chunk high-quality board.

Brennen Barnes didn't like girls. Unlike the monumental sum of boys his age, he didn't think they had cooties or some weird jinx that came with getting too close to them. But as an only son growing up with what was now a trio of daughters—siblings—he thought girls were annoying and bossy. He didn't like to be bossed around. He hated it in fact. Each time he heard Rora's pushy voice telling him what to do or not to do, the young wolf felt a scratching sensation against his back, as if nails were being dragged up and down his body.
So the fact that all the young girls at the party kept following him to pull him into silly games like patty-cake, made him all the more frustrated. He hated this party. He hated the uncomfortable clothes daddy made him wear. He hated these girls who looked at him with stars in their eyes. And most of all, he hated the little punk who was the celebrating his birthday at this party. A pretty boy who was used to having everyone gush over him, and having everything. He was skinny, prissy and Brennen wanted to punch his face. But he promised daddy he'd behave. Sitting at a chair at a table with Rora and some of the other kids, he taps his foot impatiently, just waiting for the stupid cake to be served so they can go home. Dressed in the elegance of a young princess, with her virbrant chestnut whorls hair done up into a chignon that had a white rose pushed attached to the clip, Aurora embraced the air of royalty, wearing a sleeves crimson flower beaded dress, and matching ballet slippers; she truly carried the visage of a princess, caging her brazen fire as she tried to engage the other kids attention. That soon became obstructed when she gazed at her moody and irritable twin brother, ignoring the protesting growls that he emitted against his clenched teeth. Brennen looked menacingly adorable like a cantankerous kitten with unkempt fur and piercing frosted azure eyes. His wolfish mane of dark chestnut was tied back into a knotted ponytail, his slender and hardened body of chiseled muscle garbed in a tailored charcoal gray suit, with a few buttons undone. He carried the distinct and boyish visage of his father, the same lethal edge and stubborn temper --he was a dwarf sized version of the Winter Soldier; on the outside, he wore a semblance of a Brooklyn charm, behind that guise, he was little roguish pup who desired to roam back into the darkness. Smirking beautifully at his temperamental display, Aurora couldn't restrain a giggle, as she watched Brennen tighten a little hand into an effectual fist. She nudged him forcibly in the shoulder, feeling the vicious pulse teeming in his rigid body. "Bren, you gotta stop," she urged lowly, saddling him with an imploring stare of icy sapphire. "Daddy wants us to play nice, so no puttin' anyone crossed in your sights on the ropes tonight, kay?" Hearing the bossy voice of his twin, Brennen's eyes squint into a pinching frown. Rora wouldn't let up, even for one night. "Stop bossin' me. We're at a party, and it sucks," he felt the need to voice his displeasure, uncaring if any of the other kids heard him and decided to tell a grown-up. He glances at Aurora beside him with something resembling a pout. "I just wanna go already. Why can't they hurry up and serve this cake!" He whines, dropping his head back dramatically which seemed to incite the group of kids sitting with them. "Don't go eating the end piece, that's mine! I call dibs!" One of the kids, an enthusiastic Asian boy with glasses yells from over the table. Brennen glares at him as if spotting a challenger. "I wasn't talkin' to you! I don't even want cake!" Brennen huffs with agitation. This drew the attention of the son of the esteemed host. A snobby brat who thought he was so pretty and better than everyone. "Good because you're not getting any, chubby. It's my cake, and I decide who gets a piece." The little brat smirks cheekily, feeling as if he were a little prince among a crowd of peasants who didn't even deserve to be here. Brennen's face began to turn a shade of red, a throbbing pulse of fire ran through his veins that began to fuel his movements as he rose from his chair. "Oh yeah? I'll tell you what you can do with that cake you little—" "Bren, that's enough," Aurora growled tersely while flashing a kittenish smile at the arrogant raven haired host, who twirled a pale finger over the rim of his raspberry punch. Her chance of making friends was vanquished by her brother's sourness and untamed temper. He was a power keg of raw emotions, any little thing would trigger an explosive reaction. Extending an arm over Brennen's waist, she desperately tried to restrain him. "He's not worth it, Bren, back down..."
--------------
The outdoors was a spacious arena of calm and levity for Bucky Barnes compared to the turbulent noise that waged inside the estate. Parties weren't his idea of fun, despite how outgoing and lively he had been as a kid in Brooklyn who took pretty dames out to dance. He wasn't sure if it was old age setting in, or the fact that he had changed so much in so little biological years that stretched to decades in history. But somehow, the sight of little children, so innocent and full of life, reminded him of happier times. They were the light which sparked a beacon from within, drawing his inner-child back into the older shell. He loved kids—to be exact—he loved HIS kids, which were by far his primary mission in his modern life he'd built for himself. The soft coos and baby gibberish in his ears warmed his heart while the smell of mint and baby formula touched his nostrils. Shifting his stare to the precious bundle he held against his chest, he smiles warmly at the sight of his 1 year old daughter, Frost, just beginning to come out of her small nap with a cute yawn. "Hey there, snowflake, did you sleep all right?" He whispers against her brunette locks.
Listening to her father's soothing timbre, so deep and jovial, the baby girl cooed in a hushed response, fluttering open her tiny eyelids, revealing the vivid shades of frosted azure, that were bright as distant starlight. She tilted her head against the crook of Bucky's angled cybertronic metallic arm, still nestled cozily against the solid planes of his thick chest, where the steady thump of his heartbeat served as a pacifying rhythm. Now, she was alert-fully engaged and ready to take on the night--wiggling slightly against the wake of hunger, she fussed and thrusted her fisting hands upwards, seizing his long dark tresses with a firm grip. "Dada..." she gurgled out, staring into his mirroring steel-blue depths.
A hearty chuckle blew past Bucky's lips as they pulled into a breathtaking grin. "Moroznyy (Frosty)…" he chimes, lifting up his little angel until she's carefully nestled against his chest. "Hope my little snowflake, had a nice rest. The party is just beginning." He says to her. Frost had only started talking a little over a month ago, tiny word fragments in the usual baby-talk pattern, but her first word had been clear as he just heard it seconds ago. She had been full of surprises since the moment she'd came into this world. The many people who saw her tonight were in awe of her natural pale skin and her icy blue eyes. They complemented her name as being quite fitting. He dressed her in a small baby-sized dress that was entirely cotton on the inside to keep her warm and cozy. Her growing length of hair was still short, but thickening strands were pulled into twin pigtails that rose off the top of the left and right of her head. Her tiny head bobs slightly as she gazes out with big blue eyes at their surroundings. They were in the garden of the estate, which was awash by the radiant colors of twilight. They sit against a stone stairway and watching the numerous little kids play with each other on the grass, among them being his precious Mattie. A few adults stood by also watching their children while catting among themselves. Bucky had politely withdrawn from a number of conversations, particularly with a few singles women who were enamored with his good-looks and the very sight of him being such a joy with children. He didn't come to make new friends. Which was why he and his kids were just enjoying their own company until the festivities came to their conclusion. "Look at your big sister, snezhinka (snowflake)." Bucky coos against Frost's ear, watching just as numerous kids were as little Mattie Barnes sways across the grass and stone floor with the grace and poise of a ballerina.
Evading herself from the cacophony of the opulent party goers inside the mansion, Madison carved to feel the soft caresses of the night air and the luminescent power of the moonlight. She welcomingly cherished the contrasts of darkness, an element she effortlessly mastered when she strayed away from parties. She was considered an outsider in social groups since her angelic and enchanting beauty was incomparable to most girls her age. She was a dark little swan, friendless and gracefully elegant in her lithe kittenish form. Tonight, Mattie wanted to sit with her twined siblings, pretend to wore the visage of a princess, but she had an audience to impress, watching her perform her balletic twirls with fluid precision and feline grace. Her movements flowed in sync as she balanced her lithe weight on an arched foot, hoisting the other with unfaltering control until she reached her acquired stance. Her Auntie Tasha would be so proud of her. Spinning around on a pivoted heel, she gazed at her father stood near an arched stone gate, looking dangerously alluring in the shadows, as he cradled little Frost in his arms, rocking with a gentle sway.
"Snova! (Encore!)" Bucky cheers with genuine awe at his little girl's natural display of grace and agility. Her form and skills had improved greatly over the last couple of years, especially since she had begun to practice with Romanoff each time he and the kids visited the Avengers compound in New York. His former Russian rival had even complimented Mattie as being a prodigy whose talent should be explored to its fullest potential, something that had thrilled his little girl and likewise, made Bucky proud. To show his encouragement, he softly claps his hands while keeping Frost secured in his arms. Surrounding them, even a few adults and kids shared in his support and appreciation of Mattie's display.
Performing a climactic bow, Mattie smiled brightly at her father's echoing applause, whipping her head up as long silken mahogany strands lashed over her cool alabaster features; suddenly her mother's cunning and hyper-aware instincts detected ominous danger, while her inner wolf spirit vigorously caught a wafting and reachable stench of rank fat coming from the other side of the lavish estate. Her delicate nose crinkled against the distinct redolence of distressed pig. Her uncertainty betrayed the delighted glints shining in her dark eyes, as she quickly grabbed her slippered shoes and raced towards Bucky. "Daddy, what's that smell?" she asked, her lyrical voice held an edge of alarming dread.
Confused at his daughter's question, Bucky concentrates on the scents surrounding them. At first, he could detect nothing unusual behind the smell of baby formula, pine and mint. "I don't smell…" Then there was the smell of something that reminded him of a filthy barnhouse where animals lived in squalor. That was when Bucky's sharp ears registered the sudden commotion that was as alarming as a sea of panic, and devastating as a car crash. It was coming from inside the estate. Dread clawed in his gut, one that he loathed as it brought him nothing but fear against the most terrifying of possibilities. His blue eyes are wide and unblinking as he sees a horde of guests exchanging shocked looks with each other.
His sense of danger and foreboding triggered inside of him, and that had Bucky rising to his feet and gesturing for Mattie to take Frost. "Hold your sister, Mattie." He is quick but careful to rest his baby into her arms before he makes a beeline for the inside of estate.
Feeling her little infant sister writhing stubbornly against her secure embrace, Mattie was dueling with rampant emotions, she refused to stay outside with the group of strangers, not when she detected an impending presence looming over the estate. Veering her dark eyes towards the patio, she watched Bucky slip back inside the glass doors, his movements frantic and unhinged. Gearing herself up to sprint across the grass, she cradled her hand delicately over Frost's tiny head, breathed deeply and then gunned with momentum to the glass door, instincts shot off an alarm, haphazardly as she felt an unnatural coldness rake over her svelte body. The apparitions of danger were close, as she resolved to call after her father."Daddy, wait, don't..."
Five minutes earlier… The mounting sense of irritation and anger had neared the tipping point for Brennen as he felt himself being dragged, like dead weight, towards the large banquet table where a crowd of kids and adults gathered just in time to see the rich snob get his precious cake. His little hands tightened into fists, but he made no move to fight back as Rora pulled him to join her and the others kids watchin'. "I can walk, Rora," Brennen scowled with a shrug as he forces himself to match her pace. He bumps into a fat man's stomach, then proceeds to glare at him as if he would eat him alive. "Hey, watch it," he grumbles, still following Rora's lead.
"Bren, stop actin' like a jerk," Aurora seethed against gritted teeth, her grip tightening with a pulse of urgency as she continued to drag him away from the chair before he unleashed his extent of his anger on the smug brat. His steel-blue irises radiated with an arresting gleam of predatory malice exhibiting a notch of his unrestrained aggression, as he sneered darkly at his target. She needed to cool him off. "C'mon, don't rise up to it, Bren, remember Uncle Stevie told us that stupid bullies are always lookin' for a fight?"
