Me thinking about how Future Bulma never got a chance to meet Vegeta again and see the good man, loving father and devoted husband he has become:

Feeling a bit sentimental this morning so I'm ignoring the fact that Future Bulma would probably never meet Vegeta even in afterlife because Future Vegeta never had the chance to redeem himself.. and as Piccolo said in Buu saga- had been sent straight to hell, reincarnated without any memory of his past life or Bulma
She deserves something good after all that hardships Yemma can send ME to HFIL SHE'S MEETING HIM AND GETTING A HUG

Alright, timelines. (link to my old post)
Today I'm going to walk you through the cluster fuck of Toriyama not paying attention to what he writes from the Trunks arc to the epilogue of the Perfect Cell arc.
Reminder that I divide the "Android Saga" in 4 arcs:
Trunks arc (arrival of Frieza to 3yg training),
Android arc (until the time machine is discovered)
Imperfect Cell arc (until Cell absorbs 18)
Perfect Cell arc (+ epilogue of Trunks killing imperfect Cell)
I will also pull Toei and Daizenshu content if needed just to show how bad it gets, BUT that's just to enhance my argument. Everything here is manga-deductible without extra context or content.
As I've shown in the link above, the manga implies 4 timelines:
Forgotten timeline (Cell kills Trunks and steals his time machine),
Lost timeline (the timeline that dead!Trunks traveled to, which did not have a Cell pop in the middle of its Android Saga, otherwise Trunks would've known about Cell),
Future Timeline (the one we know and see, Trunks traveled to a uni where Cell traveled to first, so there's changes and Cell pops up in the Android saga),
Main Timeline (the one we know and follow, to which Cell and Trunks traveled to),
Let's go into details about dates and math and everything first. (under the read more because LONG)
When Future Trunks discovers dead!Trunks' time machine, he states that it comes from age 788, which is 3 years from where he comes from (which means he comes from 785), and that the Machine landed here "4 years ago". 4 years ago was about one year before Trunks first came (aka one year before Meca Frieza stuff).
Tumblr media
During the first trip, Trunks states he comes from 20 years into the future.
Tumblr media
That means during his first trip, he went from 784/785 to 764.
We also know he's 17 at this point and "will be born in 2 and a half years"
Tumblr media
(Baby Trunks is supposed to be ~6 months old by May 12th, 767, so "I warn in 764, I'll be born in 2.5 years, so I was born in 766" works. Ignoring the wikis about Trunks' birthday being June and Future Trunks' birthday being in November, it doesn't matter here, we just need the years))
For Trunks to be 17 during his first trip, he needs to travel from 784 (before his 18th birthday). So by the time he comes back the second time, it needs to be in 785 (so he is 18!); since it takes 8 months to charge the machine (Trunks the Story manga chapter), that works out.
Tumblr media
So in terms of trips, we have:
Trunks (both versions) : (early-mid) 784 to 764
Trunks (both versions): (early-ish) 785 to May 12th 767
Cell: 788 to 763
Tumblr media
(handy recap sheet)
At the time, for Toei, there were only two Timelines (aka it was both multiverse theory AND dynamic time travel theory, because Trunks becoming aware of Cell who killed him means Trunks isn't killed by Cell... yeah it's all sorts of EHH ??):
Tumblr media
Anyway, you'd think this would be fine right? The image of Cell killing Trunks while he still had his sword (which he shouldn't since he broke it on 18's arm he never used it again in canon) is anime filler, we're all good.
Except... no. This fucking panel right here. Cell explains "(the machine/bots collecting dna) could've gotten Trunks cells but didn't because we had enough Saiyan cells".
Tumblr media
Cell supposedly comes from a timeline where GOKU killed Frieza and Cold. But this god forsaken panel contradicts that. (of course it's just that Tori forgot, but we are DB fans, we take things seriously and word of god of the manga is supreme and can't be wrong)
This means that THIS particular version of Cell doesn't come from the Forgotten Timeline.
The Cell we know and love/hate comes from a timeline in which a future Trunks killed Frieza and Cold, BUT everything still went to shit (Goku + gang dying, dead!Trunks traveling to the past, and coming back to destroy the Androids).
In this timeline, Bulma met Future Trunks (who killed Cold and Frieza) in 764, presumably the gang got all the warnings like in the main timeline, but everyone STILL died. So she invented the Time Machine to send her Trunks to the past (perhaps with different instructions so as to not repeat the mistakes of the Future Trunks she saw 20 years prior).
Here's the thing. There is a way for this timeline to exist. You "just" gotta work on the postulate that "each time there's a time travel to the past, a new branch is created". And "if the time machine travels back in time a second time, it lands in the timeline it first branched out unless it travels back further in time". Rephrased: The "784 to 764" trip created a new branch in 764. The "785 to 767" trip landed in that new 764 branch. However the "788 to 763" trip created a whole new branch in 763.
The Time Machine that was piloted by dead!Trunks actually "traveled further back in time", creating an earlier "branch"... which is why Trunks noticed changes, including Goku's late arrival (or Frieza's earlier arrival, we don't know).
Yes, because Future Goku did not use Instant Transmission to fight Frieza and Cold. We know he didn't because Future Bulma had the coordinates where Goku landed, which is how Future Trunks got said coordinates. If Goku had IT to fight Frieza and Cold, Bulma wouldn't have known where the pod was going to land 3 hours later.
So timelines and where does Cell come from? Well you need a timeline from the Branch that started in 764 (with a Future Trunks' arrival to kill Frieza and Cold) but in which everyone died to the Androids, and in which, when Trunks traveled back home, he was able to destroy the Androids...
Anyway here's my final recap of all the timelines in Z, in which "one time travel is one interference creating a new branch". And this is how we can see where Cell comes from :D
Tumblr media
This opens a realm of possibilities!!
Did a version of Trunks stay in the past, during his first trip and got a wish to Shenron to have a way to destroy his androids, so he didn't come back in 767 and didn't grow strong at all? Did the future trunks that warned against the Androids but that timeline still went to shit approached the problem differently?? who knows! Time for fanfics and doujins I guess :D
Peace!

Imagine making up lies about Yamcha to make Vegeta (who was currently evil) look like a better person.
The same Vegeta who Future Bulma lied about to her son because Vegeta was very evil and uncaring.
Tumblr media
The same Vegeta who would have let Bulma and his own infant son die if Future Trunks didn't save them.
Tumblr media
The same Vegeta that Bulma knew was so evil that he definitely went to Hell as she lied to her son about there being good in Vegeta.
Tumblr media
(Vegeta first began to change from evil to good after he spent 1 yr training in the Room of Spirit & Time with Future Trunks. And Vegeta gained some respect for his son from the future after he attacked him when Vegeta was helping Cell achieve his perfect form. Future Vegeta never changed from evil to good because he never had a "Future Trunks" to be the catalyst of his change.)
All of this evidence and yet DB fans continue to lie about Yamcha. They go along with the lies that Bulma told Trunks, even though he found out the harsh truth; his mom slept with an evil man and lied to make her son think better of herself and better of his evil father by telling her son that Yamcha was a cheater.
Even if Yamcha was a cheater (evidence shown in the manga reveals YAMCHA IS NOT A CHEATER) does that mean Vegeta was "better" than Yamcha? NO. Vegeta directly threatened to kill Bulma multiple times, commits genocide, & his ultimate goal was to kill Goku then the others in his way. Then his future self died an evil man while the present Vegeta got a chance to change thanks to Future Trunks.
Is being a pure evil murderer really better than being an alleged cheater? Present & Future Vegeta killed Namekian children in the last arc & only didn't continue to kill ppl on Earth because Goku was stronger than him with SSJ. Then, Present Vegeta was going to let his own son and baby momma die, & he then put the world in danger just to stroke his Saiyan pride.
Yamcha was nowhere near as evil as Vegeta was nor did he ever cheat.
Meanwhile, Yamcha wanted to marry Bulma and was sad after he found out she had a child with their 100% still evil enemy who threatened all of their lives (& recently threatened Bulma's life) and Vegeta was partially responsible for most of the Z Warriors deaths. And let's not forget that...
Yamcha was the one to tell Future Trunks that his father cared for him.
Tumblr media
Trunks began to despise his own father, but Yamcha is the only one who told Trunks about what Vegeta did; That his father did actually care about him. Why? What did Yamcha have to gain from it? ABSOLUTELY NOTHING.
Yamcha just wanted Trunks to return home happy. Yamcha literally helped bring hope to the future. Yamcha even made Future Bulma (who lied on Yamcha) feel better about herself when her lie to make Vegeta look good ended up being barely true in an alternate timeline.
Why do so many ppl hate this man?
EXTRA BUU SAGA STUFF:
And let's not forget how Yamcha tried to save Bulma's relationship in the Buu Saga.
Dude moved on from her and now just wants to help out a friend. A friend who was so extremely depressed to the point she fainted in disbelief that her husband killed hundreds of people (and almost her too) just to fight Goku.
Yamcha tried to fix Vegeta's sins & he did. But many in the fandom still spread the lie that Yamcha knew Vegeta died & he made a wish to only bring back the good people so that Vegeta would stay dead. A blatant lie. Goku told Yamcha, Bulma, & the others that Gohan & Vegeta were dead AFTER they made the wish.
Stop lying on Yamcha. Y'all gotta be obsessively jealous to keep lying about a good man.

thinking about a scenario where F!trunks goes to meet the Zfighters for the first time and then he gets to Yamcha thinking he's a "playboy" jerk (F!Bulma trying to make vegeta look better yknow) and he learns overtime that Yamcha is by far the nicest, kind-hearted person he's ever met and he's SO flabbergasted.

Unsung/Underappreciated Heroes of the Android Saga
These are the characters I feel don't get enough recognition in the narrative (or even fandom) for their actions in the android and cell saga.
Future Bulma
I think Trunks is praised more by other characters for piloting the time machine and saving the timeline than Future Bulma is for designing and building it. Especially considering the dire circumstances. I honestly don't remember Future Bulma being talked about much for her miraculous feat. I have been watching a ton of clips lately and my memory is still blank. Also, this woman is a great mom! She raised Trunks very well :)
Present Bulma
She made the remote that could have ended the cell saga before things got worse. However, Krillin literally stomped all over her hard work when he decided to simp for 18.
Piccolo
Goku may be the best fighter but Piccolo is the leader. He was the one who relayed the information about the androids to the others. He was the one leading the effort against Imperfect Cell. He was the one who fought the best out of the Z fighters against the Cell Jrs. Even better than Vegeta and Trunks. And rallied Tien and Yamcha to defend Goku. I don't think Piccolo is acknowledged enough for being the voice of reason on the team.
Tien Shinhan
Forget the epic tri beam against Semi-Perfect Cell. This man deserves some credit for going to help Piccolo even though he stood no chance against the androids. Good thing he was there otherwise 18 would have been Cell food way sooner. What a role model!
And now...the true MVP of the Cell games. The person who arguably helped Gohan more than Goku or Piccolo ever did in that battle...I present to you...
ANDROID SIXTEEN 👑
Android 16 deserved the world. He is the only one to jump in to help Gohan. Granted Piccolo and Goku were about to as well. But he did not have to have a dad quarrel first before he took action! And he helped Gohan to unleash his potential. Unlike Goku who just threw Gohan to the wolves and misunderstood the nature of his son's power, 16 was able to connect with Gohan calmly on an emotional level. He understood Gohan's gentle nature and urged him to use his power to protect people. A true MVP. Too bad Gohan likely destroyed his processor chip during his power-up :(. 16 you left us too soon...

[Image ID:
Image one: A digital illustration of Future Trunks from Dragon Ball Z. It is from the waist-up and he is in a neutral pose, looking at the audience with an intense expression. He has light purple hair, dark blue eyes, and light brown skin. He is visibly covered in dirt and soot, with dried blood on the hilt of his sword and the lower sleeve of his right arm. There is a trans flag patch sewn onto the right sleeve as well as a small circular patch above it which has a design that is obscured by the angle. The background is a heavily edited image of a decrepit apartment complex seen from the outside, washed out in grey tones. Written on the image, the first part at the top and the second at the bottom, in a white pen is: 'The future I come from... is hell.'
Image two: A fake Twitter thread between Trunks and Bulma. Trunks's name is 'TRUNKS' with the handle '@Xx_trunksb_xX' and a profile picture which is a greyscale version of an anime screenshot of him. Bulma's name is 'Bulma Briefs', with the handle '@capsulecrpbulma', with a full colour screenshot of her from the anime, with a tick indicating she is a verified account. All the tweets were posted on March 1st, 784. The first tweet by Trunks reads, 'if i was at the rise of the androids i wouldv stopped it'. It has 64 replies, 7.8k retweets, and 34.8k likes. Bulma's reply reads, 'Honey your father and all of the z fighters were there and they all got like 20 fatal injuries in like 2 hours lol not worth it'. It has 95 replies, 23.9k retweets, and 144k likes. Trunks' reply to this reads, 'rip to my father but im different'. It has 34 replies, 19.3k retweets, and 68.9k likes.

DBZ realization made me sad
so this just came to me and it sucks.  That one timeline where Cell kills a far weaker Future Trunks and steals the time machine right?  we know fully Cell in that original form drank the bodies of his victims for what power he could get out of them right? leaving only their clothes?  That Trunks didn’t know Cell existed. And here’s the sad part, neither did Bulma.  There’s a good chance she finds his torn and abandoned clothes, the time machine missing, and thinks Trunks just abandoned her without a word to go live in a nicer past. and if she DOES ever think that there’s never going to be anything that brings her the truth......  of course even then there’s the high chance she doesn’t know he’s dead and is just... waiting. for her son to come home. forever.

When Future Vegeta meets Future Bulma :'(
Tumblr media
Sneakpeek of Chapter 6 of As if you weren't dead.
The aged Saiyan emerged from the mysterious healing machine, his body protesting with each movement. He was unclothed except for black shorts clinging to his thighs. Confused, he paused for a moment to steady himself. Blinking the thick liquid away, he wearily eyed the stirring form on the desk, that slowly arose from its chair. A fuzzy assembly of pale features, clinical whiteness, and the blue of the earthy sky began to approach him slowly.  He blinked, looking dazed and confused. “Bulma…?” he asked, barely believing his own eyes. She looked the same, smelled the same and her energy signature felt the same. A slightly older face than he remembered appeared in full view, smiling softly. Was this a trick, a mirage, or a projection from his dreams? Yes, he was dreaming, that was the most logical conclusion— or he was dead, maybe that was more likely.
The ethereal being halted before him and slowly and deliberately brought two fingers toward his neck. He hadn't expected to actually feel her touch on his skin, so he flinched lightly. It had been a long time since somebody had approached him without any hostile intentions.
It spoke, this embodiment of Bulma. "Silly Saiyan, I'm just checking your pulse and temperature. It seems fine." She let out a giggle as she observed the bewildered expressions he wore on his face.
Vegeta watched her gaze up at him with scientific wonderment and something else he couldn't quite place. She examined the scars of his old wounds— which were many, uttering a few approving noises.
Bulma took a step back, her face a mask of perplexity at his unexpected meekness.
Vegeta's heavy-lidded eyes blinked slowly, the effects of the regeneration fluid slowly receding from his mind. Memories of traveling to different timelines flooded back in. This woman looked like ‘his’ Bulma— much more than the young girl he'd met at his first stop.
Vegeta dozily grabbed a loose strand that fell astray from Bulma’s ponytail and brought it closer to his eyes, oblivious to the fact that he was painfully yanking her head to the side.
"Hey!" She squeaked, desperately tugging at her hair in an attempt to free it from his iron grip. Peering at the strand closely, Vegeta gave it a sniff before finally letting go. Bulma sighed, relieved that he wasn’t harboring any sinister intentions toward her. After all, she didn’t exactly know this version of Vegeta.
When she had tucked her hair safely behind her ear she locked eyes with the slightly startled Saiyan.
"It is you." He said incredulously. "You are old ." He pointed out matter-of-factly.
Bulma opened her mouth to ignite a bitch fit, but it was nipped in the bud by his following statement.
"Like you should be."
A half smile broke through on her slightly aged face, like a sun through clouds, which Vegeta felt privileged to witness. "Yes,” she said. “ Just like you, you mean."

For some reason I can’t find all of them in English, but I do have the ones in French so here’s a selection! (this is part 3)
Part 1, Part 2, Part 3, Part 4 (will be edited as posts go live)
This is from Volume 8!! It was published in May 2015 when Rez F came out ;)
