one of my absolute favorite things in movies is storytelling through hair styles.

I especially love when a character has a braid and then takes it out and it like symbolizes their transformation. with the braid they’re closed off, they’re intertwined with their issues, they’re reserved, they’re protecting themselves. but then when it’s taken out they’re free, their hair moves in the wind, they have broken away. god it gives me chills.

there’s really good storytelling through hair in Barbie too but that’s a discussion for another day.

#my favorite example of the braid one is elsa in frozen 2!#I also recognized it with maya in Echo!
