Ulrike Faust

They graduated from Britechester recently with a double degree in Fine Arts and Education. She works in the art school library and teaches art classes at the local primary school.
She had a bit of a dark childhood. It has made her a bit anti-social and she has a lot of trust issues.
They have been friends with Maaike since high school and she is the only person Ulrike trusts implicitly. They are not together romantically (yet) but they are overly comfortable with each other.

Майке Хас прихорашивается у зеркала — это что-то из ряда вон выходящее. Что же случилось?
А случилось то, что под предлогом обсуждения научной фантастики Майке собралась навестить предмет своего обож... ой, простите — старого друга, а заодно рассмотреть поближе недоразумение по имени Ева (так Майке мысленно именовала молодую жену Гюнтера).
Осенний день выдался прохладным, и девушке пришлось сменить облегающую водолазку на один из множества просторных шерстяных балахонов. Дойдя до дома Гюнтера, живущего совсем рядом с Коттеджем-на-Озере, Майке напустила на себя максимально самоуверенный вид и постучала в дверь.
— Заходи, открыто! — послышался с той стороны громкий, высокий женский голос.
Войдя внутрь, Майке сразу же увидела Еву, сидящую на диване и с интересом смотрящую телешоу. «Бедненький мой!.. — подумала Майке. — Из-за этой пустышки ему приходится целыми днями терпеть болтовню зомбоящика!..» Вслух же Майке выдавила из себя благовоспитанное приветствие и даже попыталась завязать светскую беседу с Евой.
За несколько минут этого неловкого разговора девушки успели проникнуться устойчивой взаимной антипатией. Как и следовало ожидать, при ближайшем знакомстве Майке нашла Еву совершенной дурой, а Ева даже не пыталась подавлять смешки при взгляде на свитер, юбку и колготки собеседницы.
В гостиную вышел Гюнтер и застыл в уголке, озадаченно слушая то, как жена и лучшая подруга зачем-то спорят о политике.
Гюнтер предпринял неловкую попытку помирить своих дорогих женщин, но из этого не вышло абсолютно ничего хорошего —Майке сидела за столом с покерфейсом, а темпераментная Ева уже начинала вскипать от раздражения.
«Встречайся с этими фриками в своей занюханной кафешке, а не в нашем доме!»
Запинаясь и мямля, Гюнтер начал извиняться перед Майке за то, что его благоверная сегодня не в духе. Благоверная же в это время сидела на своем любимом фиолетовом диване и пускала искры из глаз.
Итогом визита Майке к старому другу стало поспешное вручение подарка (та самая злополучная научно-фантастическая книга) и скорейшее исчезновение из поля зрения домашней мегеры.
Бонус: Ева поспешно сваливает от дурацких занудных разговоров, а затем выпускает пар излюбленным способом.

После долгих лет сомнений Майке все-таки решилась отправить несколько рукописей в издательство. Достаточно быстро ее стихи и рассказы приобрели «широкую известность в узком кругу», а публикации стали приносить постоянный и довольно солидный доход.
Ульрик обрела известность неожиданно для себя, встретившись с богатыми и знаменитыми путешественниками во времени и буквально изменив ход истории. После этого имя Ульрик появилось в свежих новостях и коллекционеры открыли настоящую охоту на ее картины.
Выбравшись из бедности, подруги принялись усиленно заниматься самовыражением через жилое пространство. Ульрик наконец-то обустроила свой уголок художника в гостиной, попутно накупив причудливой мебели и разных эзотерических безделушек в спальню. Майке переклеила обои в своей комнате, повесила новые занавески и водрузила на почетное место антикварный книжный шкаф, который, если верить слухам, когда-то принадлежал самой принцессе Кордилии.

Born to be the head cook in a minor noble's household in a medieval-lite fantasy setting, forced to live in a world with phone calls and paperwork instead.
#I have concocted an elaborate fantasy where I had an ill-fated teenage romance with the current lady of the house#when I was an apprentice/ward under the previous head cook & she was the free-spirited & doted upon daughter of the previous lord#who would sneak into the kitchens to steal fruit tarts and cheeses in a manner that was quietly indulged#& who I'd be tasked with bringing meals to when she couldn't be found for dinner and we gradually enchanged conversation#and developed feelings for each other & she always talked about different fantasies for a future together#and I knew that could never happen but she didn't seem to#and then her only brother died in a tragic hunting 'accident' & she is expected to inherit her fathers lands and can no longer be#the doted upon young mistress who will eventually be expected to marry in a distant theoretical way#and instead is betrothed to marry the son of a rich merchant who was one of her brother's companions#& in her grief and under the weight of increased expectations she pushes me away until years later I'm the head cook#and I get a nostalgic pang in my chest when I catch her children sneaking into the kitchens for fruit tarts#and sometimes I bring her missed meals personally rather than sending a scullery maid to deliver them#and we have prolonged eye contact but she's far too busy managing the estate and her absent husband's business affairs#for anything more to come of it until one day she uncovers letters that prove that her husband conspired to kill her brother and marry her#in order to gain access to her lands and station & I'm the only member of the household that has kept on since her father was lord#who she can trust/go to in order to troubleshoot what she should do about this
