Just finished watching #BeeandPuppyCatLazyinSpace! Seriously, there NEED to be more remakes! #CartoonHangover may still suck on some levels, but if they continue this, maybe this YouTube channel will come back as a TV network! Don't know what I mean by Cartoon Hangover as a TV network? Trust me, if this TV network definitely has all of the cartoons from Cartoon Hangover (along with the exception of Fin Punch), you remember the same shows they used to have on that YouTube channel. This remake of #BeeandPuppyCat was just so perfect. If only Cartoon Hangover could just do more and more remakes, like #BravestWarriors and #SuperFuckers (though if Super Fuckers was solely remade, it would be called “#SuperFuckersForever” based on the comic book with the same name). Because if that happens, then @CartoonHangover has a chance to redeem itself. From Shoutout Arizona January 16, 2023
Meet Fred Seibert | Serial entrepreneur who produces cartoons and creates media companies.
We had the good fortune of connecting with Fred Seibert and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Fred, what was your thought process behind starting your own business? Hah! None. At least, not consciously. I wanted to make records and didn’t know how (or was scared) to contact “real” record companies. So my buddies and I started Oblivion Records ( http://bit.ly/3FlrFFm )
Working in the corporate gold mines of commercial radio and then as a co-founder of MTV wore me down. So my partner Alan Goodman and I started the world’s first media branding company figuring it might be more invigorating. https://fredalan.org/post/165050268321/the-fredalan-chronology-we-were-in-business-for
I went back in the grind to resurrect the famous Hanna-Barbera Cartoons studio when Ted Turner bought it. When he decided to sell his entire company (CNN, TBS, TNT, Cartoon Network) to Time Warner, I figured that five years of working for a lunatic, brilliant entrepreneur was good enough, so I started Frederator, my own cartoon studio. I stupidly went back to the salt mines of MTV to run their online businesses, quit after a year (I was a really bad employee) and add an online video component to Frederator.
Channel Frederator did so well that venture capital approached us and with a few co-founders I put together Next New Networks, the company that, for better or worse, started the multi-channel networks (MCN) on YouTube. Who could resist free (sure!) money? YouTube bought our company.
20 years in Frederator went through a number of changes, a lot of hits, online and in traditional media, and ended up as a small public company.
Yuck. I quit and started FredFilms in Los Angeles.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally? I come from a family of scientists and decided at six that I’d be a chemist. After a school life as a math/science kid I went to college to study chemistry. A few weeks in I turned to my Zoology lab mate. “I like the Beatles more than this,” and marched into my college radio station and never left. No surprise, I never graduated.
After a lifetime of playing music I went to the other side of the glass in a recording studio to produce records (records and pop music were the lingua franca of my generation). After spending years figuring it out, a wise, famous recording engineer pointed out to me that staying focused on talent was a super power. That’s what I’ve done for 50 years.
Whether it’s in music, television, cartoons or technology, I’ve staying focused on identifying superior, ambitious and friendly talent.
I continue to be a fan, a professional fan, who tries to help that talent.

BREAKING NEWS: Bee and Puppycat has now greenlighted to Netflix after turning them over from the YouTube Originals and VRV [#RadyoBanderaEXCLUSIVE]
BURBANK, CALIFORNIA -- A former streaming service platform of YouTube Originals and VRV (which is now merged over to Crunchyroll in March 2021, alongside with Funimation) as Frederator Studios has officially announced that it is now greenlighted last Tuesday morning (August 9th, 2022 - Eastern local time).
youtube
WOW! Unlimited Media and Polygon was first reported that, Bee and Puppycat was picked up by a global streaming platform known as Netflix per ongoing pandemic of Coronavirus Disease-19 (CoViD-19) worldwide. Some sources told exclusively to Radyo Bandera, the YouTube Originals and VRV will no longer releasing its newest episodes for now after it was privately leaked online from Vimeo in early mid-year of 2020.
There is nothing new in this series as of this writing but, Oriental Light and Magic Inc. (OLM) and Netflix Animation Studio (NAS) finishes all the episodes in advance before the said streaming platform after nearly 10 years of its internet televised debut with a complicated licensing issues from the start. The news team of Radyo Bandera confirms that a televised cartoon show will be rebooted and improved animation for both Season 1 and 2 that affects between the regular pilot and Lazy in Space.
Official synopsis from Netflix: "On a charming magical island, the impulsive Bee and her furry pal (Puppycat) get up to all sorts of adventures while working for an intergalactic temp agency".
The series was originally conceived as a streaming televised web series and was released on YouTube in mid-July 2013 and followed by VRV in November 2016. Show creator in Citrus County of Inverness, Florida, United States of America (U.S.A.) named Natasha Allegri, who was a former storyboard artist and revisionist of Cartoon Network per genderswap versions of Adventure Time before she was debuted an official spin-off to HBO Max of "Fionna and Cake" in mid-August 2021. Allegri was acquired to Frederator Studios since the start of its own cartoon show after it was originated and funded by Kickstarter in mid-November 2013.

During the 2nd Season FINALE of Bee and Puppycat titled "I Won't Leave You Alone", there is an easter egg with a distorted color logo of Alto Broadcasting System-Chronicle Broadcasting Network (ABS-CBN, which is now Kapamilya Channel) under DWWX-TV 2 in Quezon City, Manila. We don't have any possible confirmation from the ABS-CBN Entertainment to its similarity, in connection with the said cartoon show.
Streaming fans are excited to see a newly-rebooted and improved cartoon show from the actual YouTube Originals and VRV. This may subject for a runtime change from Season 1 alone into a half-hour friendly episodes. Sci-fi fantasy-animated web series makes a comeback for generations if Season 3 will soon happen with another funding for public broadcasting online in pay-per-streaming format.
Bee and Puppycat is slated to premiere exclusively in all seasons at once starting September 6th, 2022 at MIDNIGHT PDT / 3am EDT / 3pm in Manila / 2am CDT, only on Netflix.

Sam Steinberg never got his due.
vimeo
Sam Steinberg from fredseibert on Vimeo.
In 1973, outsider artist Sam Steinberg, a fixture on the Columbia University campus in New York City who made thousands of paintings in about 15 years, painted the cover of Oblivion's third release, Friends by alto saxophonist, former Columbia student Marc Cohen (Copland). (Read more about the cover here.)
Sam never got his due from the art establishment who somehow missed his "outsider" work entirely. Was it because he exclusively sold on Columbia's campus? Or that he worked in the mundanity of the common Magic Marker? Or maybe that he worked in New York City, the media capital of the world? Shouldn't 'outsider art' be outside of the world center of "real art?" (Thank you DD.) One way or the other this man who created more than 3000 works (that's conservative; it could be more than 7000 or 10,000, easily!) in only 15 years flew completely under the radar. A shame.
In 1983, my Columbia radio buddy Alan Goodman was my creative partner at MTV. As our last hurrah before starting the world's first media branding company, we asked one of our key animation collaborators, Candy Kugel from Buzzco Associates (founded by Buzz Potamkin), to adapt some of Sam's iconic characters into a couple of 10-second network identifications.
Alan and I loved them, but alas, our successors at MTV did not. The animations never aired. Sigh.
vimeo
Sam 2014 from Ed Gray on Vimeo.
In 2014, documentarian Ed Gray, a former Columbia student himself, completed a short film on Sam he had shot in 1971.
Sam passed in 1982, but here you can get a load of one of the great late 20th century characters who we all adored for his art, of course, and his personality.

“Anniversaries are for parents!”
It’s hard to say why we thought August 1, 1982, the first birthday of MTV: Music Television, was such a big deal. I was off-the-record in jokingly telling a senior executive that we were rock’n’roll so we probably would be lucky to last five years.
But, we were so excited at actually making the thing work, so exhilirated that we pulled it off, exuberant that the old men cable operators we wrong, we were stunningly popular across the United States (soon the world!).
One way or the other, we wanted to celebrate. Even though the company was still losing a lot of money, everyone was certain we were onto something and soon enough the Benjamins would be rolling in. Given our circumstances though, the company wasn’t going to let us spend just to make ourselves happy, so the solution was to make the birthday all about the cable companies, who we would need for the next 20 years to get big enough to generate all that cash.

MTV 1st Birthday ID from fredseibert on Vimeo.
Manhattan Design (MTV logo originators) came up with the cardboard cable box and t-shirt, and Frank Olinsky illustrated. We even found a few bucks to animate a 10-second cake for the birthday.
“Birthday.” That’s the ticket. As with everything in those early days, the entire MTV team spent a lot of time figuring out our appropriate vocabulary. For everything.
First anniversary? First birthday?
“Anniversaries are for parents. For old people. We’re for kids.”
It was our first birthday.
I’ll point out that last year MTV celebrated it’s 40th birthday! So much for being careful about the brand. Sigh.
