Fourthschneebling AU - Loneliness in Vale

Oz was raised in a Vale orphanage until he was eight years old and started to hear Ozymandias' voice in the back of his brain. A lonely, bookish child, he never really thought too much about the fact that he'd never quite fitted in amongst the others. After all, none of them had parents. He knew he'd been a baby when he was sent here, but maybe his parents were heroes? They could have been hunters just as he wanted to be when he grew up, protecting Remnant from monsters like the Grimm. There was no way of knowing, though. Not really.

He hated being called 'Wine'. Though it was a color, as were most names on Remnant, it tended to get him teased a bit, especially since he hated dressing in the red clothing the orphanage staff procured for him. 'You should dress to match your color', they'd tell him... but that color never really fit him. He longed for a day when he could wear whatever he liked.

Then the voice came. It taught him how to fight, gave him inherited reflexes he'd never expected. Made him a prodigy in a matter of months and catapulted him into the limelight that was the attention of Vale council. After all, they were looking for the wizard for a very long time and the fact that two in a row were ostensibly Valean? Well, that was far too good a fortune to ever be overlooked.

So they took him in, raised him to be the next wizard, tried to convince him he never needed to go looking for his roots. After all, he was Ozpin now, he was theirs. But he never stopped wondering and, on turning eighteen, he went looking for his roots.

He did not particularly enjoy the discovery. By then he'd been the headmaster of Beacon for three years, ridiculously young as he was, and had formed certain... opinions... about the man the gene sequencing claimed as his father. But he had siblings to protect, now. And, in the end? That fact would end up changing history.

Okay, so this one rests on the sheer similarity between adult Ozpin and that cursed image of Jaques Schnee without that *thing* growing from his upper lip.

I saw it and wondered and thus this AU was born.

Since he also sort of looks like Whitley? That gave me a lot of interesting ideas... so in this AU, he's the oldest of Jaques and Willow's four children and... less than happy about it.
