About You - The 1975
Found these analog photos I took years ago when I tried to experiment with b&w photography and double exposure - not the best quality but wanted to do something with them.
I think they’re just a perfect visual representation of this song to me.

literally begging usamericans to stop making every criticism of their country into a us vs europe thing, death to america and death to europe are in no way conflicting statements they go hand in hand the reason why the death to america slogan is more commonly used is because the us is the greater imperialist and hegemonial power and because the sheer amount of influence the us has on geopolitics extends that of any european country by far. western europe is riding on the coattails of usamerican imperialism (eg in the nato) to secure the future of the capitalist system and continue the exploitation of the global south so it's stupid to waste our time arguing about dumb americans vs entitled europeans like we're back on 2013 tumblr

I’ve tried like 500 times to articulate my thoughts about nonwhite superman and how much that adds to his childhood of loneliness and every time I hit a stumbling block because the topic makes me too insane to think but please hold my hand and imagine this little boy trying to grow up in rural Kansas and being the only person he’s ever known who looks like he does. This little boy who never has a proper answer when people ask where he’s really from, and even once he knows the truth of himself he can never safely share it. Please imagine him fighting every single day to belong and never being able to no matter how hard he tries because people will always find something questionable in the very way he looks. A lot of the superman mythos is dependant on Clark’s ability to assimilate but when you take that away what is left?? He’s just a kid fighting so hard for a belonging he’ll never have a hope in hell of being handed. Oh it hurts my heart

Submas/PLA au idea but everything happens normally except Ingo has a shiny sneasel/sneasler that follows him around. Because the sneas’ mother, Lady Sneasler, rejected him bc of his different fur color, therefore leaving him to Ingo’s(and by extension Paulina’s and Akari’s/Rei’s) care.
Ingo then finds himself resonating with the sneas’ loneliness in that he(dubbed Sneaky the Sneasel) cannot interact with other sneasel, his litter-mates or not, due to his different fur color and therefore Sneaky cannot truly belong; in the same case of Ingo never truly fitting in due to his odd behaviors, his accent, his mental disorder of autism and the way he dresses. And that neither can actually interact with their siblings anymore
Ingo becomes the father he never thought himself to be due to Sneaky and the constant presence of Akari/Rei(they bring food for Sneaky and Ingo bc they love their old uncle)
Sneaky follows Ingo to Unova when he returns too. Emmet has many questions on why his brother was found in the middle of the forest with a ferally protective foreign pokemon protecting his unconscious body.

I was cooking and (first time I ever did this) cut my thumb on my knife while swiping the garlic off it. Not a bad cut my any means, just bled a little
but the very funny part to me is I've now thoroughly fucked up my vegan banh mi. I skipped right over vegetarian banh mi and omnivorous banh mi and landed right on cannibalistic banh mi.

Keffiyehs remain banned in the Ontario Legislature after a unanimous consent motion that would have allowed the scarf to be worn failed to pass at Queen's Park Thursday.
That vote, brought forth by NDP Leader Marit Stiles, failed despite Premier Doug Ford and the leaders of the province's opposition parties all stating they want to see the ban overturned. Complete agreement from all MPPs is required for a motion like this to pass, and there were a smattering of "nos" after it was read into the record.
In an email on Wednesday, Speaker Ted Arnott said the legislature has previously restricted the wearing of clothing that is intended to make an "overt political statement" because it upholds a "standard practice of decorum."
"The Speaker cannot be aware of the meaning of every symbol or pattern but when items are drawn to my attention, there is a responsibility to respond. After extensive research, I concluded that the wearing of keffiyehs at the present time in our Assembly is intended to be a political statement. So, as Speaker, I cannot authorize the wearing of keffiyehs based on our longstanding conventions," Arnott said in an email. [...]

Arthur Conan Doyle: what if there was a detective and he was super mysterious and badass and like the smartest man alive but of course was misunderstood and an outcast but in a cool way.
Agatha Christie: what if there was a detective but he was a tiny little fancy man and no one ever took him seriously no matter what he does because of white on white racism. and he's got a silly mustache.

it really is looking like i'm gonna finally have to make a choice between which citizenship i want to keep and it occurred to me that i'm not even attached to the idea of being canadian in an emotional or personal sense it's the first world privilege of having the citizenship/passport and the economic benefits of that, including the ability to (relatively) easily access funding as an artist, that makes me hesitate giving it up. but emotionally i don't think i could recover from having to formally give up my malaysian citizenship it would feel like a part of me has been denied or taken and it's not due to attachment to the state or gov of msia but to the people and culture and my family... i can find a way to live with myself and inhabit this world no longer being a citizen of the first world but i couldn't live with myself if i abandoned my home country for the first world it would feel like a betrayal of myself and my grandparents and of my own politics and i can't do it. but to embrace it wholeheartedly requires giving up that first world privilege which is scary, if you are someone who has had it most of your life, and i recognize that even having the choice is a privilege as well. but i would not be able to respect myself if i made my decision based on that fear or allowed it to guide me. the majority of people on earth do not have that ability to choose nor the economic advantage of being a western citizen; i am no different from them, not "better" nor "special", and if they can do it, i can too.
