Coming up with the Lucent Brood encryption levels system for a fic & deciding to base it on sumerian numbers, I’m reading the names and getting extremely vivid flashbacks to my 2020 ancient history thesis… Ah yes, šar, you sound just like the tears on a sum(m)er morning banging my head against Excel tables tasted.

#i’m aware how hyperspecific this post is #for those of you who weren’t here when my obsession with mesopotamia began: i used to study history #and wrote a yearly thesis on housing prices in old babylonia in 2020 #i ditched the major but the obsession persisted #i’m thinking about publishing that essay as an article in the history magazine i’m one of the editors now #because that thing. that monster of a thesis. it took 6-8 months to make and i got a 5 and a covid-safe pat on the back from my prof for it #izzyposting #banks of euphrates
