No sale on stolen land. Protesters prevented a Zionist real estate event in Brooklyn today. The sale includes properties in Israeli settlements in the West Bank, which are considered illegal under international law. The demonstrators argue selling land in these settlements to only Jewish purchasers further entrenches the settlements and the Israeli occupation.. There have been a growing number land sale events in recent months.
-- Ian Bartlett, 13 Mar 2024
Initially, organizers from PAL-Awda NY/NJ, the Palestinian Assembly for Liberation, and PAL-Awda Mothers’ Committee, alongside 40 other organizations, called for a protest against an “israeli real estate event… set to take place in Flatbush, Brooklyn, where realtors [would] engage in selling property in occupied Palestine, settlements deemed illegal under international law.” After encouraging people to file complaints, the event was canceled, and the protest was redirected into a vigil.

The intersection of Sutter and Saratoga Avenues in Brownsville in July 1923, when severe storms turned the borough's streets into rivers, flooded subway stations and basements, and caused geysers to erupt from manhole covers. Lightning blasted apart wood paving blocks on Cortelyou Road in Flatbush, threw a construction worker from his ladder on Ocean Avenue (thankfully, he was unhurt), and struck the steeple of Park Slope's Greenwood Baptist Church, damaging one of its stained glass windows.
