Weekly Writing Update
*taps tumblr mic* “Is this thing on?”
Hi guys! I saw another blogger/writer I follow doing these and thought, heck it’s as good a system as any to show what I’ve done and keep me accountable. I tried to do something similar before a long time ago but fell way off the wagon. Anyways, here we go, weekly updates on what I’ve been writing.
You’re going to notice I’m normally a lot further in on writing than I am on posting. That’s on purpose. It helps me edit. It also protects y’all from any whoops, so I haven’t written anything in six months events. Why would that happen. Well, besides life occurring, allow me to post the FULL LIST of WIP this time around my friends. Normally, I won’t lay out everything just what I’ve worked on. Maybe I’ll do everything once a month? What do y’all think?
As a note titles below the cut are links if the post has gone live.
Five Times Percy Destroys His Phone and The One Time It’s Not His Fault
This is a single chapter thing. It’s done and ready to post. I plan on making it go live on March 1. I’ve got a lot of WIP that I’ve been finishing up and I’m trying to post one a month so as to not over post and drive myself insane.
I Knew I Loved You When: 100 Ships Challenge
This is completely done. It’s posting daily and will continue to do so until we hit 100 chapters. Woot!
World Travelers: A World Away
I am on chapter 15 of part 4 of this seven part series (probably, hopefully). There will be 21 chapters for this part. The bad news is I am completely stuck right now. I think I’ve written like twenty words on it cause I just don’t know what I’m doing. Expect to see updates every Wednesdays, unless of course writers block persists for 6 weeks. Then expect to see me crying into my coffee.
Hybrid Theory
I haven written 25 chapters and am outlined to chapter 31 and do have a vague idea of where I am going all the way through. This story is maybe 1/3 of the way through? I mean we all know I can never drop a story line so that’s probably a lie. Still, it’s got plenty of buffer so expect to see updates on or around the 15th of each month.
When The Dark Comes Rising: Gathering
This story...exists? I am on Chapter 11 of Part 2. There should be three parts. I’ve outlined to chapter 14. For now plan to see it continue to update on solstices/equinoxes.
Untitled “Garment” Project
Shhhh this one’s a secret for the Percy Jackson fandom. (There’s definitely NOT a link in the title for the curious). This one is getting towards the middleish? Idk it’s a bit harder to gauge progress but it will happen!
These Temperamental Days: On Balmy Nights I Know that I Am Yours
This one isn’t dead, despite what I’m sure everyone believes. I am, like halfway through and need to re-watch Captain America Civil War, for research of course. I’m HOPING to post this in April. But we’ll have to see. Then there will be one more part and I’ll consider this story actually done.
Ways of Love: Part 3
Okay, so, this is like super super super tentative. I have written like eleven paragraphs on chapter 1 of Part 3 for this and only have the vaguest idea where we’re going.  There’s also not a title yet. So please don’t get excited but I do intend to finish this. So yay!?
Demigods Are Weird
A Hades/Percy Jackson Crossover! The POV will be Zagreus’s and it will be Percico. It will be a long one shot/single chapter thing. I’m already at 2,500 words and am about 1/4 way through? Will post when it’s ready. I’m hoping May but no promises for sure.
Percy Jackson Spy AU
So this is a cannon AU where things in the world of demigods go really weird really fast due to the mist failing. That’s...all I’ll say right now. I’m nearing 2k on the first chapter but I don’t have a time line for when I’ll start posting at this point in time.
White Lotus Buds (Working Title)
Hi Avatar fandom, I’m new here! Anyways. This is a story where The White Lotus is more than Pai Sho friends and also a lot older. Also all the kids are involved. Woo. I have three chapters written out and am outlined through book one. I plan to post sometime...? I’m like really focused on this fic so it may be soonish, idk.
Anyways, this list of 11 stories? This is why I don’t star posting until I have LOTS of buffer. Because otherwise we all cry in our coffee. I won’t list everything weekly, but this is our starter post.

My Homelab/Office 2020 - DFW Quarantine Edition
Tumblr media
Moved into our first home almost a year ago (October 2019), I picked out a room that had 2 closets for my media/game/office area. Since the room isn't massive, I decided to build a desk into closet #1 to save on space. Here 1 of 2 shelves was ripped off, the back area was repainted gray. A piece of card board was hung to represent my 49 inch monitor and this setup also gave an idea how high I needed the desk.
Tumblr media
On my top shelf this was the initial drop for all my Cat6 cabling in the house, I did 5 more runs after this (WAN is dropped here as well).
Tumblr media
I measured the closet and then went to Home Depot to grab a countertop. Based on the dimensions, it needed to be cut into an object shape you would see on Tetris.
Tumblr media
Getting to work, cutting the countertop.
Tumblr media
My father-in-law helped me cut it to size in the driveway and then we framed the closet, added in kitchen cabinets to the bottom (used for storage and to hide a UPS). We ran electrical sockets inside the closet. I bought and painted 2 kitchen cabinets which I use for storage under my desk as well.
Tumblr media
The holes allowed me to run cables under my desk much easier, I learned many of these techniques on Battlestations subreddit and Setup Wars on Youtube. My daughter was a good helper when it came to finding studs.
Tumblr media
Some of my cousins are networking engineers, they advised me to go with Unifi devices. Here I mounted my Unifi 16 port switch, my Unifi Security Gateway (I'll try out pfSense sometime down the line), and my HD Homerun (big antenna is in the attic). I have Cat6 drops in each room in the house, so everything runs here. On my USG, I have both a LAN #2 and a LAN #1 line running to the 2nd closet in this room (server room). This shot is before the cable management.
Tumblr media
Cable management completed in closet #1. Added an access point and connected 3 old Raspberry Pi devices I had laying around (1 for PiHole - Adblocker, 1 for Unbound - Recursive DNS server, and 1 for Privoxy - Non Caching web proxy).
Tumblr media
Rats nest of wires under my desk. I mounted an amplifier, optical DVD ROM drive, a USB hub that takes input from up to 4 computers (allows me to switch between servers in closet #2 with my USB mic, camera, keyboard, headset always functioning), and a small pull out drawer.
Tumblr media
Cable management complete, night shot with with Nanoleaf wall lights. Unifi controller is mounted under the bookshelf, allows me to keep tabs on the network. I have a tablet on each side of the door frame (apps run on there that monitor my self hosted web services). I drilled a 3 inch hole on my desk to fit a grommet wireless phone charger. All my smart lights are either running on a schedule or turn on/off via an Alexa command. All of our smart devices across the house and outside, run on its on VLAN for segmentation purposes.
Tumblr media
Quick shot with desk light off. I'm thinking in the future of doing a build that will mount to the wall (where "game over" is shown).
Tumblr media
Wooting One keyboard with custom keycaps and Swiftpoint Z mouse, plus Stream Deck (I'm going to make a gaming comeback one day!).
Tumblr media
Good wallpapers are hard to find with this resolution so pieced together my own.
Tumblr media
Speakers and books at inside corner of desk.
Tumblr media
Speakers and books at inside corner of desk.
Tumblr media
Closet #2, first look (this is in the same room but off to the other side). Ran a few CAT6 cables from closet #1, into the attic and dropped here (one on LAN #1, the other on LAN #2 for USG). Had to add electrical sockets as well.
Tumblr media
I have owned a ton of Thinkpads since my IBM days, I figured I could test hooking them all up and having them all specialize in different functions (yes, I have a Proxmox box but it's a decommissioned HP Microserver on the top shelf which is getting repurposed with TrueNAS_core). If you're wondering what OSes run on these laptops: Windows 10, Ubuntu, CentOS, AntiX. All of these units are hardwired into my managed Netgear 10gigabit switch (only my servers on the floor have 10 gigabit NICs useful to pass data between the two). Power strip is also mounted on the right side, next to another tablet used for monitoring. These laptop screens are usually turned off.
Computing inventory in image:
Lenovo Yoga Y500, Lenovo Thinkpad T420, Lenovo Thinkpad T430s, Lenovo Thinkpad Yoga 12, Lenovo Thinkpad Yoga 14, Lenovo Thinkpad W541 (used to self host my webservices), Lenovo S10-3T, and HP Microserver N54L
Tumblr media
Left side of closet #2
Tumblr media
**moved these Pis and unmanaged switch to outside part of closet**
Tumblr media
Since I have a bunch of Raspberry Pi 3s, I decided recently to get started with Kubernetes clusters (my time is limited but hoping to have everything going by the holidays 2020) via Rancher, headless. The next image will show the rest of the Pis but in total:
9x Raspberry Pi 3  and 2x Raspberry Pi 4
Tumblr media
2nd shot with cable management. The idea is to get K3s going, there's Blinkt installed on each Pi, lights will indicate how many pods per node. The Pis are hardwired into a switch which is on LAN #2 (USG). I might also try out Docker Swarm simultaneously on my x86/x64 laptops. Here's my compose generic template (have to re-do the configs at a later data) but gives you an idea of the type of web services I am looking to run: https://gist.github.com/antoinesylvia/3af241cbfa1179ed7806d2cc1c67bd31
20 percent of my web services today run on Docker, the other 80 percent are native installs on Linux and or Windows. Looking to get that up to 90 percent by the summer of 2021.
Basic flow to call web services:
User <--> my.domain (Cloudflare 1st level) <--> (NGINX on-prem, using Auth_Request module with 2FA to unlock backend services) <--> App <-->  DB.
If you ever need ideas for what apps to self-host: https://github.com/awesome-selfhosted/awesome-selfhosted
Tumblr media
Homelabs get hot, so I had the HVAC folks to come out and install an exhaust in the ceiling and dampers in the attic.
Tumblr media
I built my servers in the garage this past winter/spring, a little each night when my daughter allowed me to. The SLI build is actually for Parsec (think of it as a self hosted Stadia but authentication servers are still controlled by a 3rd party), I had the GPUs for years and never really used them until now.
Tumblr media
Completed image of my 2 recent builds and old build from 2011.
Retroplex (left machine) - Intel 6850 i7 (6 core, 12 thread), GTX 1080, and 96GB DDR4 RAM. Powers the gaming experience.
Metroplex (middle machine) - AMD Threadripper 1950x (16 core, 32 thread), p2000 GPU, 128GB DDR4 RAM.
HQ 2011 (right machine) - AMD Bulldozer 8150 (8 cores), generic GPU (just so it can boot), 32GB DDR3 RAM.
Tumblr media
I've been working and labbing so much, I haven't even connected my projector or installed a TV since moving in here 11 months ago. I'm also looking to get some VR going, headset and sensors are connected to my gaming server in closet #2. Anyhow, you see all my PS4 and retro consoles I had growing up such as Atari 2600, NES, Sega Genesis/32X, PS1, Dreamcast, PS2, PS3 and Game Gear. The joysticks are for emulation projects, I use a Front End called AttractMode and script out my own themes (building out a digital history gaming museum).
Tumblr media
My longest CAT6 drop, from closet #1 to the opposite side of the room. Had to get in a very tight space in my attic to make this happen, I'm 6'8" for context. This allows me to connect this cord to my Unifi Flex Mini, so I can hardware my consoles (PS4, PS5 soon)
Tumblr media
Homelab area includes a space for my daughter. She loves pressing power buttons on my servers on the floor, so I had to install decoy buttons and move the real buttons to the backside.
Tumblr media
Next project, a bartop with a Raspberry Pi (Retropie project) which will be housed in an iCade shell, swapping out all the buttons. Always have tech projects going on. Small steps each day with limited time.

One Year in Music Week 5
Howdy folks, one month down, 11 more to go. This week’s song is called Rain on Me. I started writing this song on Friday, November 30th 2018 and finished it this morning. I want to try something new with each recording, rather it be a new instrument, a new effect, a new technique so I keep learning new things and grow. I’m very pleased with how this song turned out, but I just know it hasn’t reached it’s full potential.
Process:
To me, the hardest part of every creative endeavor is the editing process. I’ve written stories, scripts, music videos, sketches, stand up comedy, and hundreds and hundreds of songs; with any process, the thing that will make or break something usually comes down to the editing. You can have a genius idea for a sketch, but if the editing is off, the jokes/emotions just don’t come through properly. It is incredibly frustrating and difficult to resolve. So many great things can die on the cutting room floor. And with anything, after spending countless hours editing something, it’s difficult to discern between quality and unnecessary baggage. I feel like with a lot of the music videos I make, the perfect vision of what I was going for lies in between edit 2 and 3. That’s probably why most of my best music I make, is the music I make in collaboration with other people. Having another perspective and voice on a project can be a game changer (it can also be even more frustrating).
Anywhoo, With every song I write, I always over write parts for it. Depending on how the song comes together, I may write 4-5 different movements to a song, have 2-3 different chorus melodies, or 2 extra verses that I have to end up scrapping. This stems from my “no bad ideas” philosophy. I write down or record anything that COULD work. It might be totally lame, it might be unnecessary, it might be the missing piece to your favorite song. I think in the end, it is a good practice because it gives me more to choose from during the editing process. If I have 2 bridges to choose from, usually one of them is much more catchy or appropriate for the song, and the one that gets cut may disappear for ever, or if it is memorable enough, it will likely turn up in a different song in some way, shape, or form.
When I come up with a new chord progression, I never really know if it is going to be a verse, chorus, bridge, pre-chrous etc, so I just keep playing it over and over and try to come up with as many melodies as possible. The first part that came for this song ended up becoming the verse. This song originally had 5 distinct parts to it, one got scrapped for now, the other is such a departure, I’m going to turn it into a completely different song. Woot woot! This song, as is the case with many of my songs, is probably too long already and could benefit from some more editing, but hey, we got deadlines people!
With every song I write, I’m trying to create something I want to listen to, which is really hard. I frequently end up with something that is kind of silly pop, but this song has more teeth that most of my compositions and I’m very proud of that.
I logged the amount of hours I spent working on music this week. This is slightly inflated due to the polar vortex calling for four magical days off from school. However, it is usually around 20.
Monday: 5 Tuesday: 6 Wednesday: 9 Thursday: 4 Friday: 2 Saturday: 6 Sunday: 1 Total: 33 Hours
At this current point in time I have 16 new songs I am working on. All in various stages. I keep track of all of it in a google document, that I update every day. Of those 16, how many will become finished songs? How many will be forgotten? How many will become #1 international hits? Probably all of them.
Tune in next week to find out! Please, let me know what you think of the song if you listen. Thanks!

How To Protect Balding Edges city stateshort
Some stylists use entirely too much tension on African American females’s hair, pulling it away from the scalp when intertwining as well as turning as if to punish you for some unidentified bad deed. This is murder on the hair roots and can bring about grip alopecia as well as irreversible hair loss. This regrettably takes place so typically that several women ask yourself the best ways to braid hair without destructive sides by default, yet damage does not need to occur. But there’s one more element you could not have actually considered: your designing routines. Yes, that’s right: Something you’re performing in an attempt to make your hair look much better can in fact be making it a lot, much even worse. There are significant advantages of putting on pigtails as well as twists. Some that come to mind are: Alleviate of style; you could literally just get up and go most of the time while your hair is in braids or twists, saving time and energy on the everyday. Length of design; knotted styles tend to last two to 8 weeks depending upon the setup, care and if they are songs or cornrows.
Vitamins For Hair Growth For African Americans
The look of hair plays an essential function in people’s physical look and self-perception, so it can be ravaging to experience hair loss, especially when there doesn’t appear to be anything you can do about it. Exactly what lots of people don’t understand, however, is vitamin C can assist strengthen hair and assist it grow. Commercials and the media promote supplements and vitamins as the ideal option for hair growth and improvement, however can supplements or vitamins grow females’s hair, and do supplements help with a thinning head of hair?
Traction Alopecia Treatment In city
The term alopecia refers to hair loss. Traction alopecia is hair loss that’s caused by repeatedly pulling on your hair. You can develop this condition if you often wear your hair in a tight ponytail, bun, or braids, especially if you use chemicals or heat on your hair. For sufferers of traction alopecia, the key to curing it begins with changing hairstyling methods. Pulling hair tightly into ponytails or braided hairstyles may trigger permanent hair loss. Dermatologist Dr. Jeffrey Benabio says traction alopecia causes scarring of the hair follicle. Anyone can be affected by traction alopecia – young or old, male or female. It’s more common within certain groups of the population, because they are more likely to use some of the hairstyling techniques listed above. If not, the next thing you’ll notice is that sections of your hair are actually missing, or worryingly sparse. You can often see this more clearly around the hairline or behind the ears, but it can often happen around the crown, too. People with traction alopecia should consider changing hair care and styling practice to prevent further deterioration. Many celebrities, dancers and models suffer from this condition due to their over-use of hair extensions and tightly-fixed hair embellishments, such as hairpieces.Once the follicles affected by Traction Alopecia have ceased to produce hair, treatment will not be effective. This will be the case if the hair has been under large amounts of strain for many years and the areas of traction alopecia hair loss are completely bald (these areas will appear shiny). However, it is usually worth giving treatment for Traction Alopecia a try for a minimum of three months to see how the hair responds.
Weave Alopecia Treatment Centers city stateshort
It’s known as traction alopecia, or hair loss caused over time by cosmetic hair stress. Avoid weave tracks that tug aggressively on your hair below. It’s not exactly understood why people suffer from different types alopecia. Some of the causes vary from excessive weave styling, taking certain medications or when your body immune system starts assaulting your healthy hair roots for no obvious reason. No one understands why the immune system incorrectly attacks the healthy hair follicles, however I have my theories.
Can Hair Loss Be Reveresed
In order for your hair to grow back, the hair follicles need to be invigorated to improve blood circulation therefore promoting more hair development. The hair edges are the most sensitive part of the hair, and the edges have to be dealt with gently. Avoiding alopecia on the hair edges can be achieved by: not using chemical hair perms, tight ponytail styles with braids, and using hair gels that consist of alcohol. hair edges

Manga the Week of 12/20/17
SEAN: Are you ready? 3-2-1 let’s jam.
MICHELLE: *cracks knuckles in a preparatory fashion*
ASH: Get everybody and the stuff together, because there’s a lot of it!
KATE: There is SO MUCH MANGA that even I had to chime in.
SEAN: We start with Bookwalker, who has the second volume of their light novel The Combat Baker and the Automaton Waitress. I felt it was a good series for them to pick up (certainly better than their other LN series), and will be getting this volume.
J-Novel Club has the 4th volume of Arifureta: From Commonplace to World’s Strongest, which remains the top choice for those who like overpowered isekai and take it Very Seriously Indeed.
Kodansha has many, many things, both digital and print, which I will tackle alphabetically, starting with a 4th All Out!!.
MICHELLE: Woot!
SEAN: Attack on Titan has a big change coming with the 23rd volume, one that (like everything Attack on Titan has ever done) has gotten a mixed reaction.
Cardcaptor Sakura remains one of CLAMP’s most beloved franchise, despite age, appalling Nelvana dubs, and Tsubasa World Chronicle. Now we finally get a sequel with Clear Card, which apparently picks up where the old series left off. I will give it a shot, though I warn you I’m mostly reading for Tomoyo.
MICHELLE: This has been available digitally for a while, and I read it in that format. It’s a cute start, and I loved seeing Kero-chan again.
MELINDA: I’m obviously on board for this.
ANNA: I enjoy early CLAMP, and am leery of recent CLAMP. That being said, due to my love of Cardcaptor Sakura, I will check this out.
ASH: Same! I really do love Cardcaptor Sakura, though.
SEAN: DEATHTOPIA has its 7th and penultimate volume coming out next week.
And there’s also a 4th volume of Elegant Yokai Apartment Life.
If you haven’t yet picked up Ghost in the Shell’s hardcover deluxe editions, why not get them in a handy box set?
We’ve caught up with Japan for Happiness, so it’s nice to see a 6th volume drop.
ASH: I need to catch up with this series, myself!
KATE: The last volume of Happiness had a big time jump and shift in emphasis — something that worked surprisingly well, and and promoted one of the most interesting (and resourceful) supporting characters to a leading role.
SEAN: Inuyashiki comes to an end with its 10th and final volume. It’s always been a bit too weird for me, but then I felt the same way about Gantz.
Kasane has an 8th volume of suspense and horror.
The digital debut next week is The Prince’s Black Poison, a Betsufure romance that honestly sounds like exactly the sort of title I avoid, but what the hey. Recommended for those who like handsome manipulative men. It’s by the author of Gakuen Prince, which was also very much filled with those.
MICHELLE: Oh dear.
ANNA: Feeling sort of meh on this.
SEAN: And Real Girl has a 9th volume of whatever it is Real Girl does, besides remind me how many of these Kodansha digital titles I have yet to sample.
Say “I Love You” has come to its 18th and final volume. Despite the occasional overdose of melodrama, I greatly enjoyed this series, and am happy to see the conclusion after a long wait (we had, again, caught up with Japan).
MICHELLE: I’ve been awaiting this release for a long time!
SEAN: If you haven’t picked up A Silent Voice’s 7 volumes, Kodansha has a box set for you! (Both this and the Ghost in the Shell box are clearly meant for Christmas purchases.)
Speaking of the author of A Silent Voice, we’re getting a 2nd To Your Eternity next week as well.
ASH: Definitely picking this one up. The first volume was very good and surprising in ways that I didn’t expect.
KATE: What Ash said; To Your Eternity is definitely on my short list of Best Sci-Fi manga of 2017.
SEAN: A 6th Tsuredure Children has more 4-koma romance.
And Until Your Bones Rot has a 3rd volume of what is, let’s face it, NOT 4-koma romance.
Seven Seas is next. Arpeggio of Blue Steel is up to its 12th volume, and I’m still really interested in it, which is surprising given it’s about a bunch of cute girls who are really boats.
There’s also a 3rd “not Alice in the Country of Hearts, but the next best thing” series Captive Hearts of Oz.
Unlucky it may be, but the fact that Magical Girl Apocalypse has gotten to Vol. 13 means it’s popular as well.
Seven Seas is starting to pick up light novels that aren’t J-Novel Club print editions, and we begin with Monster Girl Doctor, whose title speaks for itself, though I’m not sure how this falls on the scale between ‘fetishey’ and ‘spooky’ monster girls.
And if that’s too millennial for you, how about a series from the 1980s? We get the first in the Record of Lodoss Wars novels, The Grey Witch, in a fancy hardcover edition.
MELINDA: It’s hard for me to dismiss something from the 80s…
ASH: It really is fancy! I’m looking forward to giving the Lodoss novels a try.
SEAN: Chi’s Sweet Coloring Book is a spinoff from Vertical featuring lots and lots of pictures of Chi to color.
Speaking of cats, Nekomonogatari (Black): Cat Tale is the first of a two-part set in the Monogatari series that finally resolves most of Tsubasa Hanekawa’s ongoing issues.
And there’s also a 4th Flying Witch.
Viz gives us a 3rd Golden Kamuy, which I suspect will have a bit less cooking and a bit more life-threatening violence this time around, but who knows?
ASH: I plan on finding out!
KATE: I seem to be stalking you through this week’s column, Ash! I’m butting in to say GOLDEN KAMUY IS AWESOME. I think Asirpa deserves her own damn series. Heck, it could be a cooking manga and I’d read it.
SEAN: If you want to get someone something terrifying for Christmas, you absolutely can’t go wrong with Shiver, a collection of stories selected by the author, Junji Ito.
ASH: I’m always happy to see more Ito being released! This collection should be great.
KATE: Nothing says “Deck the halls” than a little Junji Ito, I always say.
SEAN: And if you want to give some yuri manga, there’s a 2nd Sweet Blue Flowers omnibus.
MICHELLE: Yay!
ANNA: Behind on this already but I’m gonna read it!
ASH: You absolutely should! I’m so glad this series is finally getting the treatment it deserves in English.
SEAN: Lastly (for Viz only, trust me – we’re not even halfway), we have the 2nd Tokyo Ghoul: re.
And now on to Yen Press, pausing only to scream until our throats are raw and we are coughing up blood. (pause) There we go. Onward.
First off, we have the digital-only titles. Aphorism 13 is the second to last volume, and is for fans of survival manga.
Corpse Princess is up to its 14th volume, but it still has a long way to go. It should appeal to fans of fanservice and zombies.
And Saki 13 means we’re close to catching up, but that’s an ongoing series, so no worries there either. Recommended to those who like mahjong and breasts, not in that order.
On the Yen On side, we finish the digital catch-up for Accel World (9-11) and Irregular at Magic High School (5).
There’s also a new digital release of an older, pre-Yen On title. Kieli was a 2009 series of novels about a girl who can see ghosts, and it had an associated manga as well. Yen now has the digital rights to the novels, so we get the first one next week.
There are also a GIANT number of ongoing and new light novels in print. We get a 12th Accel World, which is in the midst of Haruyuki dealing with another mysterious threat.
The Asterisk War’s 5th volume wraps up its tournament arc, I believe… or should I say, it’s first tournament arc.
Baccano! starts a new 2-volume arc taking place in 1933 and subtitled The Slash. This first volume will show us what happened to that Mexican stereotype of an assassin from the Drug & the Dominoes book.
The Devil Is a Part-Timer! 9 has far less part-time work than expected, as the devil has returned to his homeland to rescue Emi and Alas Ramus.
Goblin Slayer 4 will feature what sounds like a collection of short stories judging from the description. And probably goblins being slayed. The Irregular at Magic High School’s 6th volume starts a new arc called the Yokohama Disturbance Arc, which I think was the final arc adapted for the anime.
Is It Wrong to Try to Pick Up Girls in a Dungeon? asks the same question again, only this time it’s Monsters. Bell says no, others think differently. Vol. 10 drops next week.
KonoSuba’s 4th volume has the inevitable Hot Springs arc.
Rokka: Braves of the Six Flowers has a 3rd volume, and I must admit if the storyline is “who’s the traitor” I may bail.
The first light novel debut is The Saga of Tanya the Evil, which is another isekai. A Japanese HR manager with a cold, ruthless reputation is killed, and then reincarnated by God. Not with the best intentions, though – God dislikes his logical attitude and so puts him in a world where magic exists and there is constant warfare. Oh, and he’s in the body of a little girl.
Sword Art Online has reached a dozen volumes, and we’re still in the midst of the epic Alicization arc. We finally see Alice again, but is she brainwashed? Can Kirito and Eugeo save her?
The other light novel debut this month already has its manga coming out from Kodansha, and is the 2nd of the three ‘ridiculous’ light novels Yen licensed recently. That Time I Got Reincarnated As a Slime arrives next week.
We’re nearly at the end! Only 28 more titles to go! And they’re all Yen Press. We start with a 6th volume of spinoff Akame Ga KILL! ZERO.
Angels of Death is a survival manga with psychological overtimes, which comes from the oddball Comic Gene. I’m not sure what to think of it.
An 8th Aoharu x Machinegun is shipping next week.
And a 5th Bungo Stray Dogs will give us literary references galore.
Light novel adaptations galore! Starting with a 4th manga of Death March to the Parallel World Rhapsody.
Dragons Rioting has a 9th volume, which is also its final volume.
If you like the idea of Goblin Slaying but hate prose, I have good news, the first volume of Goblin Slayer is for you.
I know little about Graineliers except it’s from GFantasy, it has two male leads, and it’s not BL but feels like it should be.
MELINDA: Did you say GFantasy? Count me in!
ASH: It’s also by Rihito Takarai (of Ten Count fame) so I’m very curious to see how this series develops. If nothing else, the artwork should be great.
SEAN: Manga based on an unlicensed light novel, part one: the 10th volume of High School DxD.
Manga based on an unlicensed light novel, part two: the 8th and final volume of How to Raise a Boring Girlfriend.
After a year’s hiatus, the Kagerou Daze manga picks up again with Vol. 7, and should be arriving more regularly from now on. For light novel fans, the story here is different from the LN (and indeed the Mekakucity Actors anime.)
A 5th Kiniro Mosaic gives you vague yuri galore.
If you liked the idea of Magical Girls dying tragically but hate prose… well, you know. Magical Girl Raising Project, now in manga form.
The 11th Melancholy of Suzumiya Haruhi-chan is the last, which I’m pretty sure means there are no current ongoing projects for this franchise, be it anime, manga, spinoff manga, spinoff anime, or the original novels. We should take off our hats and mourn the end of an era.
My Youth Romantic Comedy Is Wrong as I Expected gets a 7th manga volume, though I’m not sure which novel volume it’s adapting.
No Matter How Much I… sigh. WataMote gives us an 11th volume. Sorry, I’m exhausted.
Of the Red, the Light and the Ayakashi ends with its 9th volume, though I believe there is a Volume 10 with side/after stories.
ASH: Another series that I’ve been enjoying but need to catch up on!
MICHELLE: Aha! I had been thinking it was complete in 9, and then recently noticed there’s actually a tenth. Nice to have an explanation for that!
SEAN: One Week Friends is a Gangan Joker title about a cute friendship and the amnesia that threatens to tear it apart.
Re: Zero finishes its adaptation of the 2nd arc with the 4th A Week at the Mansion volume.
Rose Guns Days has a 2nd volume of its 3rd arc.
School-Live! does not come to an end with this 9th volume per se, but I think the series is on hiatus right now, so this may be the last for some time.
And a 3rd Smokin’ Parade arrives as well.
I enjoyed the first novel of So I’m a Spider, So What?, though am curious as to how a book that’s half internal dialogue will translate to manga. We’ll see with this first manga volume.
Strike the Blood’s manga has a Vol. 9, which, like the light novels, has Yukina and only Yukina on each cover.
Sword Art Online has the manga adaptation of the Calibur arc complete in one volume. It’s a great arc if you like the supporting cast, who all play a role – for the last time to date, in fact.
If you feel that yokai manga have gotten too serious lately, you should enjoy A Terrified Teacher at Ghoul School, a GFantasy title that is terminally ridiculous.
ASH: Yokai comedy, you say? Count me in!
Umineko When They Cry begins its 7th arc, Requiem of the Golden Witch. Battler is nowhere to be found. Nor is Beatrice. Instead meet Kinzo’s heir Lion Ushiromiya. Oh, did I mention this first omnibus is 826 pages?
Lastly (yes, I promise, we are at the end), there’s a 7th omnibus of Yowamushi Pedal, which should be SUPER EXCITING.
MICHELLE: Yay!
ASH: I know I’m excited!
SEAN: (falls over) So are you getting everything on this list, or just most of it?

I Wish You a Merry QAL - Block 12
Welcome to final edition of the I Wish You a Merry QAL!
Block 12 is here! Yep, that means all of the block patterns have been released!
If you've just stumbled upon us, it's not too late! You can still download all the block patterns in our quilt along until midnight January 15th, and you've got about a month to make the blocks and sew them together in order our grand prize giveaway!
Click here to learn more about the quilt along and the location of the patterns for blocks 1 to 11. Continue reading to find out more about Block 12 and how to enter both the block giveaway and the final grand prize giveaway.
For my blocks, I’m using the Shiny Objects in Holiday Twinkle collection by flaurie & finch for RJR Fabrics.
Block 12 (Christmas Lights) in our quilt along was designed by Laura @ Slice of Pi Quilts. Here’s my version of her block.
This is such a great block! I took the opportunity to use as many of the fabrics from the Shiny Objects collection as possible. For the background of my block, I chose #2792-12 (Snow). For the lights I used #2792-13 (Cranberry), #3022-05 (Red Velvet), #3022-06 (Seafoam), #3022-07 (Tannenbaum), #3023-05 (Scarlet), #3023-07 (Crystal), #3023-08 (Pistachio), #3026-04 (Red Velvet), #3026-05 (Tannenbaum), #3163-03 (Crimson), #3163-05 (Seafoam), #3163-06 (Tannenbaum).
Tips for making this block
As a QAL host, I’m here to help you achieve success with this block. First, since this block involves applique, you might want to cut your background larger and trim your block after completing your applique. I cut my background square 13".
Now to start, you need to make black 1/2" bias tape, or buy some pre-made.I don't have a bias tape maker, so I kind of fudged my way through this. Let me tell you what I did. First, I cut my strips on the bias. To do that, place your ruler's 45 degree line on the bottom edge of your fabric and make a cut. Turn the triangle around and measure 1" away from the cut edge and cut your bias strips. Based on the width of my fabric, I needed only two strips.
Sew your strips together. Don't forget to line them up so you see dog ears on either side!
Next, I tried pressing the both edges into the center of the strip.Doing that manually only kinda worked for me, so then I created my own bias tape maker by putting two pins in my ironing board and sliding the strip under that and pressing to fold the edges in.
That didn't work easily for me either. I would swear I've used this method before to make bias tape, but this time all I got was frustrated.
My strips were looking a bit worse for wear at this point (and so was I!) so I recut my strips, this time at 1-1/4". Not sure why I decided to cut my strips a bit larger, but I thought I might have better luck that way. Anyway, this time round I simply folded the strip in half and sewed it together. Then I pressed the seam under and voila! a nice bias strip.
I laid the strip on my background and pressed it into place just like Laura said.
Next, I stitched it in place, edge-stitching along both sides.
For the bulb sockets, I cut my pieces 1" square instead of 1/2" so I could fold them under on the left and right sides. I would have tucked the ends under the bias stem at this point had I not stitched it down (did I mention I was fumbling my way through this?), so instead I opted to just bump the raw edge of my sockets against the bias strip and stitch them down.
Finally, I cut and fused my light bulbs, adding a few more than in the pattern because I wanted to feature as many fabrics as I could. I edge-stitched the bulbs with matching threads: Sulky 40 wt. #1272 (Hedge Green), Sulky Polylite #60 wt. #1104 (Pastel Yellow-Green), Signature 50 wt. #SN907 (Beryl Green), Cotton + Steel 50 wt. #1045 (Light Teal), Signature 50 wt. #278 (Cranapple), Wonderfil Konfetti 50 wt. KT302 (Christmas Red), and Sulky 40 wt. #1169 (Bayberry Red).
After I edge-stitched all the appliques, I trimmed my finished block to 12-1/2". Woot! Done!
