Hi, I’m Alexandria Means, I’m 32, a single mom of a special needs child and I like to cosplay. I got into cosplaying about 5 years ago. My first costume was a Sylveon style dress made by Darling Army and I went and bought the ears and the tail. I didn’t think it was much, but when I went to my first con and people were so supportive, I couldn’t believe it. Here was this place where people could dress up to be anything they wanted and people were excited and supportive about it. The feeling was magical.
I did go by myself to my first con because I didn’t know anyone that cosplayed at the time. I was pretty socially awkward (I still am). I don’t remember exactly what someone said but it was something like “cute Sylveon” and it just made my day. I didn’t think my bought costume was anything special and I was definitely self-conscious about my body. I weighed a lot more back then. But with every positive comment, I felt more and more like I belonged.
I’ve always been a sort of creative person as it was my outlet. I have bipolar type 2 and I trend more toward the depressed side, so cosplay gave me this creative outlet to express myself. About two years before I wore that dress, one of my friends talked me into making a costume. I thought it was impossible. I was obsessed with Overwatch at the time and I remember seeing Stella Chuu’s Mercy Imp cosplay. I mentioned it to a friend of mine, and he said: “Do it, I have some friends that help you with the logistics if you get stuck.”. I thought “well, let’s do something different for the year,” so I took the first steps. I would say they are the first steps into madness, haha. I made Devil Mercy and put it on for Momocon and people loved it. More importantly, I found that I loved the process and it helped me through some very rough times.
Last year, I had an extremely rough breakup. The relationship itself was very unhealthy and I went into a very dark place. I was working on a cosplay at the time but I eventually settled on Feo Ul from Final Fantasy XIV, which was ultimately a really complicated project. I became obsessed with completing it because I told myself that when I finished, it would be the beginning of something new. And it was.
Feo Ul is my fifth made costume and it took me four-ish months to make. The wings took about three months and the overall total of hours that went into it clocks in well over 300.
The main part of the costume that almost everyone sees before me is made out of four different thicknesses of foam (10, 8, 6 and 4 mm, respectively). I did the pattern making for the wings myself with a little bit of trial and error and help from FFXIV cosplay discord that I frequent. The details were burned in and the paint was airbrushed on. I had a lot of trouble mounting it to a harness (much tears and rage were had) but I finally managed to get the end result after an entire days worth of work.
The whole setup is actually pretty light, it just makes getting through doorways and crowds quite difficult sometimes. The wig is actually an Arda Wig chibi that I had re-purposed from my Pink Mercy cosplay and dyed a light orange. The styling was honestly the hardest part aside from the wings but managed to create something passable. The wings are honestly still my favorite part about the costume and the thing I’m the proudest about in my cosplay career.
Over the course of four months I had created this crazy set of wings and had started healing in the process. And what’s crazy is that people loved it! That was so crazy for me. When I finished her, I was watching the feedback, and it was like people were seeing me for the first time. For me, each cosplay is a new beginning, a new way that I challenge and change myself, and a way for people to see the real me and the creative stuff that lives in my head. Cosplay honestly helped save me in a way.

Vierapril Day 9: Reflection/Damage
“I’m replaceable; whatever breaks, can be repaired, rebuilt. Put me in harms way first, you’re the Warrior Of Light, they need you, more than they need a glorified Mammet.”
“YOU MORON! WHO DO YOU THINK HAS TO REPLACE YOUR BROKEN PARTS? YOUR SMASHED SERVOS? WHAT IS WRONG WITH YOU?! I DIDN’T PROGRAM ANY OF THIS BEHAVIOR INTO YOU!!”

Why yes the Dungeon Meshi anime DID do permanent damage to my brain 🥰 the pose was specifically inspired by Laios ahaha.
So! A lil more context because I know he’s out in the wild of tags and people don’t know, Tuesday is a complicated Mammet built by Chuusday (Chuu) as a sort-of errand boy/housekeeper/assistant, and she sends him out into the great blue yonder to assist the Warriors Of Light in Ishgard (she is, for a number of reasons, a fugitive, and mildly reclusive besides. Authorities and Her don’t see eye to eye so she just doesn’t get in their sight. Lol.) the reason they look similar is personal vanity, she didn’t just want a Mammet that looked like a Mammet she wanted it to look ‘as life like’ as possible.
But Tuesday needs Aether, and while being mildly tethered to the crew he starts picking up abnormalities- quirks, things outside of his Generally Courteous Servitude Behavior Programming. He becomes Self-Aware. And, well. His companions are flesh and blood. If something breaks, it could cause permanent possibly fatal damage. Tuesday, on the other hand… if a servo fails, if something gets damaged, if he, shuts down. Chuusday has a backup. Sure, he might lose a few weeks, months, of memory, but it’s a small price to pay for the safety and health of his companions, right?
If you read all this I’m kissing you on the back of the hand like an Edwardian gentleman ty ty I worked very hard to make these turn out the way I envisioned and I feel like I got pretty close. Lol.

Vierapril Day 18- Opposite/Stretch
Tuesday is built to be a lot of things Chuu isn’t.
Durable. Able to travel freely. Doesn’t need sleep, or food. A formidable force on the battlefield, wherever he’s needed. Record keeper. The list stretches on pretty far- (also he taught himself to read and write common Eorzean.)
He’s also generally more polite and agreeable. You’re not twisting his arm into helping you, it’s his pleasure.
But mostly, I just think this looks kinda cool. :)

I don’t really know much about your OCs yet apart from a little bit about Tuesday but I’d like to give that question about favorite/comfort food back to you! You can answer for any OCs you want tho, of course! 🫶
🥺 yeah that’s entirely my bad I write stuff but it ends up scattered to the four corners and tucked into Random Tags (trying to do better but alas,) ALSO THANK YOU 😭
I haven’t fully worked out with solid confidence if Tuesday is ever allowed to actually eat or not (gears whirring) but I do have non-xiv au’s where he’s not a robot (and instead just Chuu’s brother lmfao) and in THAT situation his comfort food is Garbage, like, fast-food Cheeseburger With The Works, big soda, and French fries. He becomes a puddle of chronic agonies on the couch and watches How It’s Made. Lmfao. (His favorite food is probably Ramen, though. It’s a bitch to make really good at home so it becomes like a special occasion thing.) IN XIV if he ends up able to eat food (I have justifications-) his favorite food would. Likely end up being things with texture and sensation over taste. Like Grapes (regular or frozen) or like, those really fancy hors dourves (finger foods???) that you KNOW the elite Ul’Dahns (and eulmorans) probably eat at fancy dinner parties. (That aside, he does enjoy cooking, the act of creation is fulfilling and relaxing)
And cos I mentioned Chuu here’s a quick bonus answer
Chuus go-to food is Archon Loaf (optionally dipped in tomato soup.) you can at it one handed, the soup makes it marginally less chewy, and she doesn’t have to stop to eat as many meals cos it’s so nutritionally dense. — Comfort foods end up being things that are really familiar. Garlean MRE’s (made ready to eat) are nostalgic, but if she’s frustrated/stumped on a project she wants a finger food that you can eat a billion of in a row (like. Yknow. Potato chips? But I can’t think of an Eorzean equivalent rn ;w; )

Decided to do Minion-related screenshots! My ocs tend to have at least ONE minion that accompanies them places.. so.. why not!

So the Magitek Bit is the one bit of Garlean tech Chuu’s kept around from her Garlemald days; she’s modified it to be an all in one assistant, recording (shitty) audio, visual capture, and area scanning. Usually it’s used like a walking log entry, but it’s also used to record experiments so there’s an easy playback to see what went wrong (and it does often go wrong)

Probably because the room is already so noisy visually and audibly there’s not much louder it CAN be… but somebodies gotta sweep up the dust dirt and metal shavings!

Vierapril Day 24 - Perform/Echo
"Sh-sh-sh. Move. Let me talk to it first. You can play with it after I've found what I'm looking for."
Chuu's Echo is related to technology- she doesn’t participate or identify or want anything to do with being a Warrior of Light so it’s good there’s other people doing that, actually. Her echo allows her to somewhat interface with machines; rather than typing or saying commands it cuts out the middle man and allows her to more directly control things mind-to-machine. Very useful, when Allagan tech can be so fussy. Not that it fixes needing security clearance…
