[ the winds and I are one ]
I love Hermes’ transformed design so much! This image materialised in my head when I heard Fatal FE’s ‘Parallax’ and it was the song on infinite loop as I was working on this.

So my sister, who doesn't know anything about FFXIV, saw my Hermes sticker and said that he's cute. If only she knew. (:

Every time I think of Hermes I want to grab that man and shake him screaming, "Sir. That is a group of children, not a space program."

Some chibis I have been working on, since I'm printing them as keychains for my bag ^-^
Azem & Hades selfshipping is so good, I can't wait to hold it in my hands. Meteion and Hermes just had to be.
I am going to order two more for the bird pair, and update here once i put them up on kofi.

Finally, a thorough analysis of Hermes that doesn’t bash the Ancient society. So tired of people unironically goes “iT’s SoCieTY FaULt” without thinking past surface level.

My only wish to leave behind
All the days of the earth
An everyday hell of my kingdom come
The first rock thrown again
Welcome to hell, little Saint
Mother Gaia in slaughter
Welcome to paradise, soldier
My first cry neverending
All life is to fear for life
You fool, you wanderer
You challenged the gods and lost
Save yourself a penny for the ferryman
Save yourself and let them suffer
In hope
In love
This world ain't ready for The Ark
Save yourself a penny for the ferryman
Save yourself and let them suffer
In hope
In love
Mankind works in mysterious ways...

This video was made in one week as a submission to Round 1 of animemusicvideos.org's Project Org Editor (POE) 2022 contest, for the "House of Villains" category. I REALLY enjoyed making this one. Fandaniel is one of my favorite villains in the game!

There's nothing inherently wrong with the Ancients choosing to live solely for the sake of the star, except their over-emphasis on their duty leads to Hermes's crisis and through him their downfall. On the flipside there's nothing inherently wrong (putting aside all the atrocities for one second) with Zenos choosing to live solely for his own pleasure except that it's shown to be a lonely and empty existence.
I hate criticisms of Hermes that blame him for being too sensitive or too depressed, but if there's any fault that he committed it's that when he had his whole existential crisis, he chose to make Meteion to find answers for him rather than find them for himself, and then accepts her answers without arguments when she returns. Shit, even Zenos understands that the meaning of life, of each individual's life, has to be decided by them:
Endwalker shows you a variety of potential answers to the question of meaning, but you don't get to choose from them. To explain, when Venat asks you how your journey has been you get interrupted before you can answer. When Zenos asks you whether you thought life was a gift or a burden, you are also unable to answer. It would be impossible for the game system to account for all the potential answers one could choose to either question, and forcing you to choose from a small list would essentially railroading you into understanding the story a certain way. I think what Zenos says here is a large part of Endwalker's existential thesis: That you have to decide for yourself.
(wait, does that make me a hypocrite then for trying to explain the meaning of a story who's meaning is to find meaning for yourself? AGH)
