His name is blooper, he is my son and i love him. He died after a banner caught on fire from the candle on his (cup)cake, at his birthday which no one showed up to or wished him happy birthday. And now he is a sad lil' ghost.

PAPER MAKING
To make my own paper I tore some paper into small pieces and placed them into a blender, which I then topped up with water and blended. Once blended I poured my mixture into deckle (a wooden frame with metal mesh attached to the bottom) which spread the mix into a sheet of paper, using a sponge to push the water through the paper I flattened the mixture in the deckle.
Once flat and damp, I flipped the deckle onto a blue sheet and pushed against the mesh to release the paper. After this, I left the paper to dry in a press to help drain the water out. I continued to make some more sheets of paper, using different colours and types of paper to produce slightly different results. I dislike how the newspaper came out as although it is a good thickness I dislike the colour it became, as it became a beige colour, however I do like that some words from the newspaper articles are visible.
I really liked the process of paper apart from the fact that it began to produce a bad damp smell which began to make me feel sick, this was due to the wet paper being blended. However, I did find the process to be enjoyable and would continue to experiment with different types of paper to produce different results. I would also think about adding different things into the mixture to dry into the paper, such as lavender, herbs, leaves and string.

REPEAT FACE DESIGN
Inspired by works such as Hiller Goodspeed’s ‘Faces I Know’ and Noritake’s minimalist illustrations, I aimed to produce a repeated pattern of minimalist characters. To do this I opened Procreate and selected the ‘Acrylic’ pre-installed brush and selected the colour I wanted, I then began making small circles randomly spread out on my page.
Tumblr media
Then I switched to the pre-installed ‘Monoline’ brush and began drawing the one line faces, to keep the characters minimalistic I only drew the eyes, nose, jawline and outline of the ear.
Tumblr media
Once happy with how they looked, I created a new layer and moved it under the first layer. On this layer I drew with a different colour on one side of the faces to add dimensions and shade.
