Today we took photos which we later layered on photoshop. We learnt how to layer and blend photos.
Firstly I changed the image settings from RGB (Red, Green, Blue) to CMYK (Cyan, Magenta, Yellow, Black).
Then I added in both of the photos and changed the layered settings from normal to ‘Color’.
I then went into the first image and took away the C (Cyan),M (Magenta) and Y (Yellow) channels of the blending options and then left the K (Black) channel to make it have no colour so it was black and white.
On the second image I played around with removing different channels.
To get the orange effect to layer with the black and white image I removed the C and K channels and kept the M and Y channels.
To get the pink effect I removed all the channels apart from the M channel.
And to get the blue effect I removed M and Y channels and kept the C and K channels.
L’Officiel vs I-D. Cover: The cover of I-D. magazine looks way more editorial. It looks like a photoshoot intended for the cover. The American magazine features celebrity Zoe Kravitz which is common for USA magazines to star celebrities instead of models on their covers now.
L’Officiel vs I-D. Content and Editorials: The American magazine has a lot more story content based on celebrity news and events going on. The I-D magazine contains much more content pertaining to fashion editorials and full magazine spread shots throughout the magazine. There is much more content in the international magazine than the American magazine as well.
L’Officiel vs I-D. Imagery: I much rather prefer the international imagery and photoshoots because they are right for the aesthetics going on this summer. A lot of things are focused around athleisure and high fashion looks. The imagery in the American magazine looks more catered toward people who are interested in celebrity, fitness, and music. The imagery of I-D helps me know immediately this is a fashion magazine.
L’Officiel vs I-D. Advertising: The imagery in the American magazine looks a lot more like advertisements and they are not as slick about integrating ads into the magazine. In I-D they have more full story spreads that help tell a story between advertisements. They do not feel as much like I am obviously reading an advertisement as does L’Officiel USA.
