For the love of Frick, if you compute in a dark/dim room please hook up a light to illuminate the wall behind your screen. It doesn't have to be the sun! Just a fraction of your screen's brightness, really.
If you want to be very fancy you can refer to it as "bias lighting" but that's going to bring up a lot of expensive specialty products and buzzwords and tech specs if you look it up. A $2 USB light from the dollar store can do just fine; Just look for anything that disperses/softens the light instead of shining a harsh beam.
The reason for this: Eye fatigue!
When you only have dark surroundings and a bright screen in front of you, your eyes have to do a lot of extra work adjusting all the time to such a harsh contrast. Adding even a dim light against the wall makes it easier on them, adding a step in the middle.
(Visual artists: You know how it's easier on your eyes to work for longer periods on a grey canvas instead of white? Similar concept!)
Before I go, one more tip!
The 20/20/20 trick is worth remembering to prevent and ease eye strain: Every 20 minutes, look at something 20 feet away for 20 seconds.
(That's about 6 meters for those of us who measure things in Normal, but "20/6/20 trick" really isn't all that catchy now, is it?)

On a Night Like Tonight (Alex Scott x reader)
Tumblr media
Retirement. A word that had been playing on your mind for a the past 12 months. After Australia, Team GB went on to win gold in the Olympics and it left only one trophy missing from your cabinet. The World Cup.
2027, Brazil. It was the day that you gave the fans the thing you promised 4 years ago. You lead your team to their first World Cup star and did so by beating the United States on penalties.
Unlike last year Alex was pitch side with Fara eagerly waiting for you to come over and when you did she welcomed you like the champion you now were or at least she gave you the PG version given you were live on TV.
You were overcome with emotion as Alex held you in her arms. To the outside world the tears you were clearly shedding were that of happiness but between you and Alex you knew they were sad tears too.
The celebration awaiting you back in England was unlike anything you could have imagined. It put the euros one to shame. The whole country showed up to celebrate you and you made sure to savour every moment.
Each player had their turn on the microphone and the fans loved it but when it was your turn to speak the fans took one look at your face and went silent. You could hear a pin drop in Trafalgar Square.
“You all know I hate being a bench warmer and I don’t want to be one of those players the play long after their time is up. It has been my greatest honour being your captain for over ten years but it is time that I pass on the torch and hang the boots up”
It was announced the following day that England’s match against Germany at Wembley in one month’s time would be you final game in an England shirt. The match sold out in minutes and it set the perfect scene for your send off.
The days leading up to it was hectic, you barely had a second to yourself and most of all it was extremely overwhelming. You questioned if you had made the right decision. You were still playing world class football, why stop now? Your question was answered one night at St George’s Park. It was the night before your final game and the entire team could tell you were having an hard time. It’s the reason Sarina allowed Alex to stay in your room even though it was against the rules.
“I don’t think I can do it”
Alex looked up from where she was laying on your chest.
“Can’t or don’t want to?”
“Football is all I’ve ever known Al, I’m not sure I can give it up”
“You’re not retiring completely. In a week’s time you will be back at Cobham with Chelsea”
“I’m going to be home a lot more”
“You make it sound like a bad thing. Remember the reason that made you consider retiring in the first place?”
It was a night you remember well. You and Alex spent over an hour talking about the future and what it could look like. You got so caught up in the hypotheticals that reality became disappointing. It made you want to skip the next few years so that you could start the next chapter of your life, the one where being captain was no longer the highest responsibility you had.
You feel asleep that night dreaming of the future and when you woke up you were ready to say goodbye to the team that you loved so much.
It was a bitter sweet feeling as the final whistle was blown. The entire England team, both the players on the bench and on the pitch, came running to you. It that moment you felt loved and appreciated. It was a moment that you would remember for the rest of your life. As you take a lap around the field you try to take in as much as you can.
“You know you don’t have to retire” Leah appears by your side.
“It’s my time. I have loved playing for this team and every time I wear this badge it is a great honour but this is my final curtain call Leah, my swan song” You pull the blonde into your side and kiss the side of her head.
“Don’t be getting soft. Save that for Alex because we need to go do media” Truth is Leah didn’t want you to leave, she had told you this much but your mind was yet.
“I know but before that there’s something I need to do”
You pull Leah towards the middle of the pitch, away from the shouting fans, the centre circle becoming your own little bubble.
“I have been captain of this team for almost ten years. I have lead them to the highest highs and the lowest lows. It takes a lot from you when you wear this band but it can also reward in the best possible way. I have spoken with Sarina about who I want to be my successor and that person is you Leah”
With a heavy heart you take the armband off and pull it up Leah’s arm. You were passing the torch, this was a changing of the guard and you were doing it for the whole to see.
By the time you reach Alex and the BBC team you are on the very line fine between keeping it together and breaking completely.
The world now knew about the two of you but with a camera pointed straight at you, you felt the need to stay professional but Alex soon changed that.
“We’re not rolling. It’s playing her career highlights” one of the camera men tells Alex.
“Come here” The BBC presenter pulls you into her arms and for a brief moment you allow yourself to feel, feel everything that you have been bottling up since you woke up.
“It’s over. I’ve played my last game as a lioness” you could feel tears falling down your face and you were aware that there were multiple people watching the interaction but no longer had to strength to bottle up your emotions.
The same man who told you that the cameras were rolling informed you that they would be live in 5, then proceeded to count down using his fingers.
As a way of regaining control of your emotions and in attempt of staying together you move away from Alex and closer to Jill and Fara. As if knowing that you still weren’t ready to answer the unavoidable questions Leah takes charge of the interview and the presenters follow her lead. It is when she is asked a question only you can answer do you need to get involved.
“Jill asked what’s next for you?” Leah nudges you.
“I go back to Chelsea. As for the next international break, well I have no idea. Maybe go on holiday, what do you say Al, fancy the Maldives?”
“Sure, why not. Fara can cover for me”
“Seriously though Y/N. What’s next? When asked about retiring you said that you have given over 15 years to your country and that it’s time to prioritise your personal life. I think I remember you saying it’s what our dear Alex over here deserves”
Leah switches places with you when Alex is mentioned. Sensing that being next to your person may bring you more peace and encourage you to answer the question without making jokes.
“If the song is right then I believe I hear wedding bells” Jills says.
You wonder what song she is referring to and upon turning to Alex you see that she is also at loss.
“You know the song. The one about kissing in a tree. I won’t sing it seen as though we are live on air and I am a professional”
With Jill’s clue you know exactly the song she is talking about although you think you may have been in high school when you last heard it.
“Since when are you a professional?” You scoff. You refused to bite.
“I get what you’re saying. I believe it says first comes love”
“Check” Alex plays along.
Before Leah continues you turn to Alex. Your hand sat on the small of her back and unknowingly to the women around, you tap you ring finger which was missing a very important piece of jewellery. Alex leans into you with her head on your shoulder and tells you to go for it.
“Then comes marriage-“
“Check” you were proud to finally announce that you had in fact married Alex but up until this moment it was only your immediate families that knew.
The faces of your friends were priceless. In that moment you wish you had a camera to take a photo but then you remember you are on live TV. Oh god, you were live on the BBC. Not only had you told your friends about your nuptials, you had told the entire world.
“Shit”
“Y/N” Alex playfully slaps your arm “We are live”
“I am now aware of this Al”
“I would like to apologise for the language made by Y/N Y/L/N”
“Don’t you mean Y/N Scott?” Jill asks.
“No she does not” you say rather defensively “Alex took my name, she is Alex Y/L/N”
“How about we discuss the details of our marriage when we are not live on TV.” Alex tries to get the interview back on track which you are happy to do.
You then proceed to talk all things football. Jill recalls your first training session as a lioness, Fara tells her favourite Y/N Y/L/N stories, Leah brings you to tears once again when she tells you about how you showed her what is possible and Alex grins ear to ear when she explains all the ways that you have changed the game and how a lot of people have you to thank for how far the game has come.
Almost an hour later you are in one of the hospitality suites at Wembley. The news of you and Alex had spread to rest of the team and the party that was originally planned for your retirement has now turned into a retirement / wedding party.
It doesn’t take much for you to get overwhelmed, how could you not. You escape to one of the boxes near the suite, the cold air grounds you and the silence is welcoming. Looking out at the pitch you are filled with nostalgia as memories flood your mind, it’s as if a highlight reel is playing.
“People are asking where you are?”
You feel your body relax upon hearing your wife’s voice. It is one of the things you love most about her.
“You found me. Any chance I can persuade you to stay here with me for a moment?”
“I can think of a few things”
“Can one of them be a hug? I could really use one”
Alex’s eyebrows furrow. You were a cuddler, Alex learned this very early on in your relationship but there is something about you asking now and the way you did it. You sound so vulnerable.
Your wife doesn’t say anything, instead she opens her arms and you melt into her hold.
“You know a lot of people are in there waiting to celebrate you, with you. Yet you are out here alone or at least you were until I found you”
“I want to celebrate with you though and everyone keeps stopping me from doing that. They want Y/N the England captain or I guess now it’s former captain but I just want to be —“
“Y/N, my wife”
Her wife. It sounds cliche like something that would be said in a movie or a line in a book but you loved hearing her say that and even now as you both wear your rings, you couldn’t believe that she had agreed to marry you.
“Can we go home?”
Alex knew that you liked to party and it didn’t take much to persuade to celebrate something no matter how small. It wasn’t like you to leave early and Alex knew that you might be feeling more than you are letting on if you want to leave a party that was honouring your international career.
“I didn’t tell you this but Ella and Alessia have wrote a speech. They read it to me and you’ll want to hear it. If after that you still want to go home then we will, I promise”
You stayed for the speech and boy are you glad you did. It was one of the most heartfelt yet hilarious speeches you have heard. You did end up going home but not till hours later. After hearing your plea, Alex stayed by your side the entire night and her presence allowed you to relax and have fun. A chapter of the book you called life was over and the chapters that followed would go on to be some of your favourite because each and every one of them included you wife Alex Scott.

Lieutenant Commander Fara - An ordained Neo-Universalist pastor, known to the USS Sorcerer's crew as "Padre", Fara is a member of the Benfa species, a former prey species on their homeworld.
The Benfa adapted to survive against their predators (now known as the Cajak species, also a Federation member) by evolving telepathic hypnotic headstalls, and the ability to produce Cajak pheromones as well as their own. This eventually led to hybrid Benfa-Cajak herds, and hybrid offspring- eventually called Benjaks- combining the four arms, muscles, strength, speed and horns of the Cajak, with the hypnotic headstalks and toughness of the Benfa. When they developed sapience, it was these mixed social groups that were the most successful at survival- the Cajak would do the hunting and fighting, the Benfa would defend the young and build shelters. Over the next 30,000 years, the two species ceased being predator-prey and became mutually beneficial partners. The first spaceflight from their world was symbolically commanded by a Benjak, flown by a Cajak, and the engineer was a Benfa.
However, over those 30,000 years, many times the Benjaks were used as scapegoats for various problems by leaders and movements across the planet- leading to social stigma against against Benjaks, laws against their conception, and outright violence against and mass murder of the hybrids. Luckily, the planetary government that emerged from the fourth major planet wide war around 400 years ago ended all such violence (a social stigma remains among some groups descended from the various anti-Benjak groups, but isn't acted upon- at least not without severe consequences afterwards) and Benjaks are now a small but sizeable portion of the planetary population ever since.
LCDR Fara is a member of the Neo-Universalist religion, which grew out of combination of the Unitarian Universalist movement, as well as a human fusion religion on the ancient colony world of Terralysium. The Neo-Universalist faith encompasses a wide search of beliefs from hundreds of different religions, encouraging members to study many religions, and find a personal pantheon and theologic beliefs that most speaks to them as an individual.
LCDR Fara uses his extensive experience with his own faith, and his studies of dozens of alien religions, to serve as an extremely effective and unifying force among the crew of the USS Sorcerer.

Some of these are degree-related, some not; some harken back to bygone areas of interest and some persist yet; some were obtained willingly and some thrust upon me without fanfare. I think there are also some I've left at college, but I'm not sure I was actually intending to read any of them - I know one is an old copy of Structural Anthropology by Claude Levi-Strauss that Dad picked up for me secondhand, which I...don't intend to torment myself with. Reading about Tom Huffman's cognitive-structural theory of Great Zimbabwe almost finished me off and remains to date the only overdue essay I intend to never finish, mostly because the professor let me get away with abandoning it.
There are also library books, mostly dissertation-oriented, from which you can tell that the cognitive archaeologists who live in my walls finally fucking Got me:
The Rise of Homo sapiens: The Evolution of Modern Thinking (Thomas Wynn & Fred Coolidge)
The Material Origin of Numbers: Insights from the Archaeology of the Ancient Near East (Karenleigh A. Overmann)
Archaeological Situations: Archaeological Theory from the Inside-Out (Gavin Lucas)
And, finally, some I've actually finished recently ("recently" being "within the past year"):
The Body Fantastic (Frank Gonzalo-Crussi, solid 6/10 essay collection about a selection of body parts, just finished earlier)
An Entertainment for Angels: Electricity in the Enlightenment (Patricia Fara, also a solid 6/10, fun read but nothing special)
Babel: An Arcane History (R.F. Kuang, 8/10, didactic (sometimes necessary) but effective; magic system was cool and a clever metaphor)
The Sign of Four (A.C. Doyle, 2/10 really racist and for what)
Dr. Space Junk vs. the Universe: Archaeology and the Future (Alice Gorman, 8/10, I love you Dr. Space Junk)
In Search of Us: Adventures in Anthropology (Lucy Moore, 8/10, I respect some of these people slightly more now)
The Dispossessed (Ursula K. Le Guin, 9/10 got my ass)
The Hound of the Baskervilles (A.C. Doyle, 7/10 themez 👍)

A former aide to former Trump attorney Rudolph Giuliani says he told her the ex-New York City mayor and then-president Donald Trump were offering to sell presidential pardons for $2 million apiece, according to court documents.
The bombshell allegation was levied in a complaint filed against Mr. Giuliani by Noelle Dunphy, a New York-based public relations professional who is suing him for “unlawful abuses of power, wide-ranging sexual assault and harassment, wage theft, and other misconduct” committed while she worked for him in 2019 and 2020.
The lawsuit also claims that she was subjected to sexual assault, harassment, wage theft and other misconduct by Mr. Giuliani, and alleges that she was forced to perform sex acts on him and work in the nude.
Ms. Duphy’s lawsuit details an interaction she allegedly had with Mr. Giuliani on or about 16 February 2019, when he was serving as Mr. Trump’s personal attorney and attempting to dig up overseas dirt on then-former Vice President Joe Biden, who at the time was two months away from entering the 2020 presidential race against Mr. Trump.
She writes that as they reviewed emails between him and Ukrainian government officials, she asked if he had to register as a foreign agent under the Foreign Agents Registration Act and offered to do the required paperwork for him.
The former mayor replied that he was allowed to violate FARA and other US laws because “[he had] immunity”, according to the lawsuit.
She then states that Mr. Giuliani asked her “if she knew anyone in need of a pardon” because he was “selling pardons for $2 million, which he and President Trump would split.”
“He told Ms. Dunphy that she could refer individuals seeking pardons to him, so long as they did not go through 'the normal channels' of the Office of the Pardon Attorney, because correspondence going to that office would be subject to disclosure under the Freedom of Information Act,” the suit added.
During Mr Trump’s presidency, he frequently granted pardons to wealthy or well-connected individuals without the involvement of the Pardon Attorney, the Department of Justice official who is charged with reviewing petitions for executive clemency and making recommendations as to whether a given petition should be granted.
No evidence has ever emerged that either Mr. Trump or Mr. Giuliani were ever compensated for any presidential pardon granted during Mr. Trump’s time in office, but Ms. Dunphy’s allegation matches that made by another person who once sought a pardon from the then-president.
In August, The New York Times reported that former CIA officer John Kiriakou broached the topic with Mr. Giuliani during a meeting at the Washington D.C. hotel Mr. Trump’s company ran between 2016 and 2022.
Mr. Kiriakou, who in 2012 was sentenced to nearly three years in prison for disclosing classified information, told the Times that one of Mr. Giuliani’s associates at the meeting said the ex-New York City mayor could assist him — for a price.
“It’s going to cost $2 million — he’s going to want two million bucks,” he recalled the Giuliani associate as saying.
He also told the Times that he did not pursue a pardon through Mr. Giuliani because he could not afford to pay him $2 million.
“I laughed. Two million bucks — are you out of your mind?” Kiriakou told the outlet. “Even if I had two million bucks, I wouldn’t spend it to recover a $700,000 pension,” he said.
Ted Goodman, a spokesperson for and adviser to Mr. Giuliani, told The Independent in an email that the former New York mayor “unequivocally denies the allegations raised by Ms. Dunphy.”
“Mayor Giuliani’s lifetime of public service speaks for itself and he will pursue all available remedies and counterclaims,” he added.
The Independent has reached out to Mr. Trump’s team for comment.

Blaine Anderson Vs Valentine's Day (2/14)
Summary: Blaine drunk posts on his Instagram asking for a date for Valentine's Day. He gets one.
Notes: Written for the @klaineccfanficlibrary Valentine Challenge. Today's song is You're My Inspiration by Chicago
Warnings: Google Translate (me not the boys)
Read on AO3 or below
~~~~~~~~~~~~
Tina is true to her word. She comes and makes him pancakes and wraps him in a blanket and coos at him before immediately confiscating his phone. She apparently knows his pin because she unlocks it without asking. Blaine makes a token noise of protest.
"Don't worry. I'll handle this," Tina says.
Blaine is worried. "I can't expose you to all that, T," he says sincerely. "People are disgusting."
"Blaine. I'm a twenty seven year old woman that has spent a non zero amount of time on dating sites. I promise you it will be nothing I haven't seen before." She glances at the screen. "Oh, Jesus Christ."
"I told you!" Blaine cries, exasperated.
"It's not that." Tina glares at him. "I can't believe you still have the post up." She waves the phone at him and Blaine gets a glimpse of himself, bedroom eyes and all. Tina looks at it too. "You actually look really good in this picture."
"Thank you?"
"But you need to delete it. I hate Sebastian but you can't set your tweenage fans on him. He'll probably go crazy and do something absolutely wild. And then you'll end up in one of those stupid articles like on Buzzfeed. 'Guy Makes Post Begging For Valentine's Date And You Won't BELIEVE What Happens Next'."
"What happens next is that my best friend is mean to me," Blaine says petulantly. "And there's no point deleting it. It's already Out There. Probably already been screen shotted and shared on Twitter and had someone doing like body language analysis of my picture on Tik Tok. The wheels are off."
Tina sighs. "Maybe you can pass it off as satire? A statement about the commercialization of Valentine's Day and how it's perfectly fine to be alone actually."
Blaine's head is throbbing. He’s way too hungover for this. "Of course it's fine to be alone. Coffee?"
"Yeah," Tina says absently, tapping away. Blaine feels real fear for about the fourth time that day but he leaves her to it. He's probably already going to have to delete his entire account and move to The Philippines. His mother's family will take him in. He loves his cousins. He could do it.
He makes a pot of coffee and by the time he's taken a few fortifying sips, he feels strong enough to peek over Tina's shoulder again. She seems to have abandoned the idea of damage control, which is probably lucky because the uncharitable side of him suspects she would only make it significantly worse. Instead she’s working through his DMs, deleting anything with penis in it without even flinching. Blaine feels a pang of real fondness for her.
"You're an angel," Blaine sighs. “The meaning in my life. My inspiration.”
“Alright, calm down,” Tina says but she smiles. “Dumbass.”
Blaine gratefully closes his eyes. As much as he and Tina mock each other, he doesn't honestly know what he'd do without her. And she's probably right about one thing. He should delete the post. He'll just do a standard Instagram apology acknowledging fault, ask his fans not to harass Sebastian, and wait for it to all blow over.
Tina laughs beside him and Blaine cracks an eyelid. "What is it? A weird one?"
"Nah," she says, passing him his phone. "A good one."
hummelbrag wants to send you a message
Roses are often red
'Di Fara' means 'To Do'
I've double checked my personal list
And all that's on it is you
Now that I have your attention with that work of honest artistry, I just wanted to say sorry about Sebastian. But also good riddance. He gave the impression of being a gay Trump supporter and you don't need that kind of negative energy in your life.
Regardless, being cheated on absolutely sucks and as much as Valentine's Day is overdone, it's a particularly shitty time of year to have it happen (speaking as someone who will be Sad and Alone this Valentine's Day) . Good for you for calling him out and good for us to get that picture of you 😉. Dreamy AND talented. You will find someone more worthy in no time.
Blaine reads it twice. In all the noise of the last day or two, he’s kind of put his feelings about Sebastian’s infidelity aside. But it’s good to have someone acknowledge how horrible it actually is. And it’s all mixed with the ego boost of being blatantly flirted with. He barely knows what to think. He glances at Tina.
"He wants to do you," she points out helpfully.
"Yes I got that. But I think that's a joke," Blaine says. “To get my attention apparently."
“It looks like it’s worked,” Tina teases.
“Hmm.”
"He did also say you're dreamy."
"He did," Blaine admits. He looks at the message a third time. It's kind of funny and sweet all at once. He's quite clearly learned nothing from any of this because a very large part of him wants to respond. "I should probably have my social media powers taken away from me."
Tina makes a non committal noise and pours herself some coffee. Blaine takes the moment to click through to hummelbrag's profile and his jaw quite literally drops. The profile claims the name Kurt Hummel and that Kurt is an assistant editor at Vogue, both of which Blaine registers dimly, but also pales in comparison to just how gorgeous the guy is.
Kurt's pictures are more posed than Blaine's. He clearly works hard on angles and lighting to best show off the clothes he's talking about. And the result is that he looks completely stunning in all of them.
"He must be a catfish," Blaine says. "No one this attractive would be flirting with me through Instagram DMs. That's just not my life."
Tina grabs his phone and whistles through her teeth. "Yeah, he's pretty hot. But he's got too many followers to be some random catfish. Maybe you should reply to him."
"I would love friends that didn't actively encourage awful decision making," Blaine grumbles, thinking about how on board Sam had been about the original post. Which was clearly terrible.
"If he's a freak you can just block him," Tina points out. "What's the worst that can happen?"
"A phrase that obviously only precedes the best things," Blaine says drily. He slides his phone back into his pocket. "Thanks, T but let's watch a movie or something. I just want to forget about it for a while."
Rain by Jocelyn Samara D (Year 2: 2012)
Look, I am FIENDING this comic. I’ve already read through yet another year. This time, it’s chapter 7: Mixed Feelings through chapter 12: Drab.
Last time’s summary was super long because I had to establish our base cast, so this time I’ll try to keep it ONLY to major events.
Tumblr media
After the very eventful Halloween party, everyone’s pretty fucked up. One of the straight classmates is VERY convinced he’s gay because he thought Ky was cute. Ky agonizes about exactly what gender she might be and how to tell Rain. Emily breaks up with her creepy boyfriend.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
As for Rain and Rudy, they’re both VERY fucking confused about what that kiss of theirs means. After being prodded by pretty much everyone in the school, they have a heartfelt conversation in which Rudy says he likes Rain for who she is rather than what she is. That it doesn’t matter if she’s a girl or a boy.
Tumblr media
I have a LOT to say about this scene in particular. If this came out today, the baby gays on twitter would have their heads explode. I can already hear the claims that Rudy is transphobic because he’s a gay boy that is attracted to a trans woman. I can already hear the Bi-Gay discourse. It’s AWFUL and if you start it on this post, you’re blocked.
I’d completely forgotten about the Rain/Rudy THING so I was pretty surprised when he spoke his heart on the matter. Once again, the comic goes out of its way to portray the messy realities of growing up queer. Sometimes, its like jamming puzzle pieces that shouldnt match together. Rain is not a man, but loving her doesn’t make Rudy straight.
That said, it is NOT heartening that their ship name is “RuIn”.
Gavin and Maria take it pretty rough, considering how badly THEY wanted to be with Rain. While it’s played for laughs for a bit, it does genuinely create a fracture between Rain and her friends that lasts for a while.
Tumblr media
While they’re avoiding Rain, Gavin gets MORE into her somehow. Like, Gavin is HORNY horny.
Tumblr media
Eventually, Maria reconnects with Chanel, a girl she met at the Halloween party. This is because she heard Chanel doesn’t like men, so she thinks she has a shot.
Tumblr media
And it turns out she does. She’s REALLY friendly and ends up telling Maria to her face that she should just apologize to Rain and see what happens.
Our Queer Quartet (ft. Gavin) expands to a Merry Band of Five.
Tumblr media
Rain’s even been getting along with Emily since the party.
Tumblr media
It looks like everything’s gonna be fine!
Until Fara gets a call from Rain’s big brother.
Tumblr media
You see, something went wrong for Aiken and he needs a place to crash. That means....
Rain is going to have to play pretend for a while.
Tumblr media
And since Rain is being Ryan, he can't have a BOYFRIEND, now can he? So, Rudy must once again become Ruby. And if you ask me, he really like it. Like, he's ENTHUSIASTIC about crossdressing. There's so much gender going on in this cast.
Tumblr media
During this chapter, Rain and Ky find out what each others deals are, kinda. It's an unfortunate accident in which Ky was going to "come clean" to Rain, but finds her in drab.
Tumblr media
Anyway, things are going well. Rain, Aiken, Gavin, Rudy, Ky, and Fara go to the mall because things are getting crowded in the apartment... but Aiken encounters none other than Emily's creepy grown-ass-man ex-boyfriend. Who draws the connection between Rain and her older sister, who he used to be engaged to.
There are some real "Small World" connections in this comic.
Anyway, Aiken does NOT take it well. He pieces together Rain's new hair cut with the similar person Chase described. And it just so happens that the entire reason Aiken was here was that he broke things off with his fiance... because she is ALSO trans.
Tumblr media
Aiken is... of course... transphobic at Rain. His big hang up is the idea that he was "lied to" by yet another "selfish tranny", so of course Fara chews him the fuck out.
I'm gonna allow the last page of the chapter to speak for itself.
Tumblr media
Final Thoughts
Year 2 was way more interesting than Year 1. Now that all the major players have been introduced, Samara can ramp up the drama and let them interact in more complex ways.
I love this cast so much because every one of them feels like someone I've met. When I first read it, I didn't really have experience with anyone even remotely similar besides Aiken.
Something similar to exactly this happened to me when I was reading:
Tumblr media
My mom borrowed my phone once and saw a page titled "Rain LGBT" in my history. She didn't read it or anything, she just saw those 4 little letters and Lost It. Cornered me while everyone was out of the room at a family gathering and everything. Aiken's reaction to Rain's authentic self really hit home for me. it's easy to tell why she's so scared to tell him. People have hurt queer people for less.
On the topic of the comedy, I'm not sure if its gotten any better or if I'm just more endeared to the characters having read so far.
In terms of Chapter count, we're already 25% of the way done.
For those of you reading along, I'll see you for Year 3.
Sweet, sharp, addictive
He has to have her. The thought keeps repeating in his head over and over as he palms whatever he can reach. I have to have her. One hand finds its way down the front of her loose pants and inside the damp scrap of fabric covering her sex. He can’t help the groan that escapes him, like he’s been punched in the gut.
“Sssssh,” Aurora hushes him. “Got to be quiet, Javi.”
The remark is made tongue in cheek but Javier pouts all the same. Much to the chagrin of Aurora’s oldest aunt Ahlam and her youngest uncle Kassem, the engaged couple have shared a room for their entire stay in Agadir. In Texas, they live together, her oldest uncle Faras said bluntly, I suspect what you’re worried about has already happened. Mansoura cackled at that and the topic was dropped. Still, it doesn’t feel right to flaunt it in their faces, especially since Mansoura warned them not to speak too loudly outside of the family about how they’re not yet married. So, they do what they can to be discreet. It’s Friday morning and uncle Faras’s house lies mostly empty. He went to a meeting at the hotel, his wife went to the market accompanied by the two oldest children, and their youngest son - home from university for the long weekend - is watching a movie in the basement. Leaving them a window of opportunity until Mansoura and her family arrive to take them on a day trip. All in all, Javier estimates they've got 30 minutes to finish the deed and then make themselves presentable. Less, if Reyad overhears them.
Javier retrieves his fingers from inside her panties, sticks them in his mouth and hums. Sweet, sharp and as addictive as ever. Aurora works his pants open, begins tugging them down his legs.
“Javi,” she calls softly and when he meets her gaze she winks at him, before turning her back to him and pulling her own pants down. I have to have her. Javier presses close, leaving just enough space for him to hook his fingers into the waistband of her underwear and get them out of the way. He bends her over the desk in their guest room, kicks her feet apart with his own. Javier catches a glimpse of her in the small mirror above the desk. She’s biting her lip, her eyelids heavy and pupils blown wide. A wave of affection crashes through him, even stronger than the one he feels every day, and he leans down to press a kiss to her spine where her neck transitions into her back. Feels her shiver in response. Then, with his jeans pooled around his ankles, Javier angles the blunt head of his cock to her opening and sinks in.
Fairy Tail x Winx Club
Aquarius was pissed.
She knew Layla wouldn't be the happiest with her choices but hoped her old friend would understand.
That disgrace for a human being could not raise their darling Lucy.
He wanted Layla's keys to be locked away, any trace of her too be hidden.
He yelled at Lucy when she sobbed and left her for hours on end.
And he was just insufferable.
Despite his efforts to pretend his wife hasn't existed at all, he had neglected to inform her family she had passed.
And while Layla hadn't left on the best terms, they had adored her....Aquarius hoped that they would be willing to care for Lucy.
Now to find them.
.
"Oh lighten up Griff" chuckled Faragonda, Griffin glared at her old friend but took a drink of her lemonade. "Your awfully cheery, Fara you must've figured out the prank my girls were planning."
The deadpan look from Faragonda made the witch snort.
"Ah, we need more days like this." Said Griselda with a sigh. The teachers were all in a park in magix having a picnic.
It was something they tried to organise bi-weekly though it was hard at times.
Now though, with spring break they had some time to relax.
Or so they thought.
The next thing they knew the fountain beside them started bubbling and a mermaid of all brings sprung out of it.
"Aquarius?" Asked Griffin, staring at the spirit in shock.
"You two know each other?" Asked Codatorta, raising an eyebrow. Griffin folded her arms, stern "we do... To what do I owe the pleasure."
To Griffin's suprise the usually spiteful spirit looked saddened.
"Layla has passed on."
The glass Griffin held shattered in her hands.
"... No... She can't have..." Her friends and colleagues watched in shock as she trembled in sadness.
Aquarius shook her head mournfully "A week ago, she had been buried in the Heartfilia gardens."
The sadness shifted to rage.
"What?! What do you mean?! Why was I not told sooner?!"
Aquarius let her rant before holding a hand up "you know as well as I do that he wouldn't have allowed it. He wanted us locked away, doesn't even know I'm here."
Griffin shook her head "she can't be..." Faragonda held her old friend close. She didn't know who this spirit was but she knew of Layla.
All those closed to the Cloud Tower Headmistress knew of her mysterious younger sister.
To hear she had died, a week ago was a lot to take in.
Griffin didn't speak of her much, though sometimes she got nostalgic.
Or had a few to many to drink.
And would speak of a spunky, headstrong and kind hearted girl who hadn't always agreed with the others antics but usually joined in either way.
And had left her family to marry "the one."
Layla and Griffin had an argument which lead to Layla leaving, Griffin hadn't even shown up to her wedding.
Something she lived to regret.
And now... Now she could never make amends with her.
"You know our Layla, got involved with something too big for her... And it had consequences. She became ill but she didn't want to worry anyone." Said Aquarius.
Griffin chuckled, a mix of a laugh and a sob "that's her alright..."
Aquarius looked down "It's not just that... She gave birth several years ago and...I can't leave her with that... Thing!"
She spat the word with so much hatred.
Griffin blinked in suprise, Layla had had a child?
"What's she like?"
Aquarius smiled for the first time since she'd arrived, for the first in a long time.
"Her names Lucy, she's small and terrifying. Asks a million questions and likes to run around in the gardens and get muddy."
Aquarius softened "she's the splitting image of her mother. Though she has your eyes... I came to ask if you would be willing to take her."
Griffin nodded "I will."
"Are you sure Griff? Raising a kid it's...a lot." Said Faragonda, Griffin nodded with a small smile.
"I can't leave her with that man, he was an asshole when I met him and that's when we were teenagers. It'll be hard but, I want to take her in." She said with determination.
Aquarius smiled, relieved and Loke appeared carrying a sleeping Lucy.
Griffin took her from him, she had to be around 3 and fast asleep. She had a simple white dress and was barefoot.
She was a splitting image of her late sister, Griffin teared up looking at her.
"Hello little minx, I'm sorry we couldn't have met under better circumstances. But I'm your Auntie Griffin, I don't know if your mother mentioned me but, I'm going to be looking after you. You'll be safe here with me, and have a lot of my students wrapped around your little finger I'm sure."
The teachers chuckled quietly, as not to wake up the sleeping girl.
"Oh she will" said Loke with a grin and Aquarius snorted.
"I'll keep your keys safe until she's old enough, go rest it must have taken a lot to get here." Loke nodded, bowing as he vanished.
Aquarius gave Lucy a fond look before handing Layla's keys to Griffin and vanishing.
"And don't think we won't be here too" said Cadortorta with a smile "thank you friend, I'm sure going to need it." Said Griffin.
She sat down and smiled as Lucy curled up and snuggled up to her. "Welcome to Magicx, Lucy."
@thebastardmeteocrusherpilot || continued from [x]
Wolf’s expression perfectly demonstrates his feelings of uneasiness about the birthday gift Galaxicos had just given him. Mind inundated, clouding up with conflicting emotions as he looks at the colorful Easter egg collar in his hand. Humor regularly plays an important role in his dangerous and often stress-filled life; he finds laughter to be quite the powerful tool in fact. A good leader knows that the right joke can ease tension, disarm conflict, boost morale and strengthen one’s bond with his team mates, and for Wolf especially, a good joke just makes being both the leader of Star Wolf and the Lord of Sargasso a little more enjoyable. Through the danger and uncertain challenges that come with his line of work, Wolf has learned to stop taking himself too seriously -- perhaps as a survival technique. The lupine’s sense of humor is as sharp as his claws and he’s always had a soft spot for stupid, silly jokes. Normally, an Easter-themed gift would be right up his alley: if it were a hat, a shirt, or anything else, the entire room would be echoing with his genuinely infectious laughter.
But alas, the captain of Venom’s famous Meteo Crusher has made the wrong move and chose to give him a collar of all things.  As Wolf holds the Easter-themed collar in his hand, he can feel the weight of the situation bear down on him. He knows that Galaxicos's gift is not simply a playful joke, but a pointed message about the power dynamic between the two men. Wolf can almost hear the chimp's silent message behind the gift, a message that speaks volumes about his prejudice against canines. He adjusts his grip and he swears that the otherwise light object feels heavy in his hand, like a physical manifestation of the weight of the older man’s deep hatred. This was never  supposed to be a silly birthday gift... It was always a symbol of Galaxicos's attempt to display power over Wolf.
He tries to push aside the weight of the collar and the message it carries, but it's difficult. He can feel a white-hot rage building inside him as he contemplates the deeper meaning behind the gift. Galaxicos may have thought he was being clever, but to Wolf, the collar is a challenge to his autonomy and a reflection of the chimp's hatred towards him. Aaron Galaxico’s strange need to always be on top, to always win against Wolf is as palpable as the weight of the collar in his hand. The boiling anger continues to rage inside of the Lord of Sargasso as he recalls the time Galaxicos whipped him in the face with his crop, the searing pain that left a permanent scar, hidden only by his scruffy fur... And of course, there’s Fara. Wolf chooses to interpret Galaxicos's advances towards Fara as a deliberate attack on Wolf himself; as if the chimp sees her as a way to prove that he can take anything that Wolf cares about because he sees the Star Wolf leader as nothing but scum beneath his boot. Surely the chimpanzee doesn’t really care about Fara's happiness or feelings, because she’s a fox... Right? So many different emotions swirl around in his head and the white-hot fury coursing through Wolf is palpable and dangerous, his muscles tensing and coiling like a tightly-wound spring. Galaxicos's patronizing chuckles fuel the flames of rage, stoking them higher and higher until they threaten to consume him entirely. Until, in a sudden burst of energy, Wolf's fist lashes out like a missile, hurtling towards Galaxicos's crotch with a satisfying thwack. It’s almost if the universe itself has paused to witness the violent outburst. The other party goers and patrons of the bar stand frozen in shock, their eyes wide and mouths agape. Some of them seem surprised, as if they hadn't expected Wolf to lash out so suddenly. Others are clearly frightened, their faces contorted in terror as they scramble to get as far away from the chaos as possible. A few brave souls inch closer, perhaps curious to see what will happen next, but most of them keep their distance, watching from safety with a mix of awe and horror.
Tumblr media
“Happy fuckin’ Easter.” Bitter words crack through the silence like ice as Wolf grips the collar tightly in his hand, feeling the object’s weight shrink in his grip as he reels from the anger that has been building up inside him for so long. His eye locks onto Galaxicos's form and suddenly, Wolf tosses the collar at Galaxicos with a force that sends it flying across the room. The sound of the collar’s buckle hitting the floor echoes through the bar, before once again settling the party into silence as everyone stares at the two of them.
FARAS-1947 :
Interaction with Extraterrestrial Lifeforms from the Roswell Incident
Date: August 7, 1947
 This report details the surprising interaction with the extraterrestrial beings who survived the FARAS-1947 crash. Remarkably, these beings showed not only an ability to understand and speak English but also demonstrated an array of behaviors similar to human characteristics.
 Upon discovery, these beings were compliant and cooperative. Their capability to communicate in English came via small micro-speakers embedded on the surface of their biological spacesuits. The sophistication of these micro-speakers led some scientists to initially suspect the use of telepathy.  The beings wore what appeared to be biological spacesuits but without helmets. They said they abandoned their helmets to comply with their security protocols. But at the same time they added that if we wanted to find the helmet, we could. Despite not wearing helmets, they showed no signs of respiratory distress. However, unlike humans, they did not appear to respire through a mouth or nose, but rather through an enclosed system provided by the suit, located beneath their necks.  Their eyes appeared to be largely black, akin to sunglasses. Upon closer observation, it was found that beneath this black exterior, they possessed eyes similar in form to human eyes. They described this aspect of their appearance as part of a biological containment system. When scientists illuminated their eyes, they could see tiny lights floating under their outer black eyes.
Tumblr media
 While generally expressionless, these beings occasionally displayed human-like emotions, such as sadness, light-hearted laughter, and smiles. Their ability to converse in English led to a degree of skepticism among some observers, who questioned whether this could be an elaborate prank.
 They explained that they had deliberately crashed to bypass certain protocols of importance to them. Despite some suffering severe injuries during the process, they indicated they had foreknowledge of the outcomes before the incident occurred.  The beings suggested that their survival was limited to the lifespan permitted by their biological spacesuits. They proceeded to share specific pieces of information they wished to impart before their anticipated demise. However, due to the sensitive nature of these discussions, they cannot be disclosed in this document.
What was Murdoch’s life like?
Murdoch has had a rather... interesting life. So to speak. He grew up in LittleLight, a little seaside fisher town. He grew up with his dad Firth, his papa Silviu, and his older brothers Kallan and Calder. He also had his best friend, Emilia!
Over all his life was pretty happy, loving parents, a good relationship with his brothers and plenty of fun things to do when he wasn't at school.
But one day, he met a new kid. A girl named Fara. They pair got on like a house on fire, and they spent a lot of time together. As teens do, they began to get a bit rebellious. Only they kept going, getting worse and worse seemingly with each passing day. Murdoch had screaming matches with his dad almost constantly.
One day, Murdoch and Firth got into another fight, but this one got way more heated than the others; and Firth ended up hitting Murdoch. Murdoch had never actually been hit like that before, and certainly not by his father. It was a startling thing. Something Firth regretted the second he did it, he tried to reach out to his son and apologize. But Murdoch just jerked back, looking at him with nothing but pure contempt.
Murdoch ran away that night, he went to Fara, and the pair left town together. They traveled for a long time, till they met a certain group of people... but that's a story for another time. :)
