Goodbye... but not farewell
In the timeline of “that fic I’ll never write”, this takes place about 12 hours after this.
Story under the cut :)
So, the morning after Taylor and John’s last night together in her bunker, which was also the first they—chastely—spent in each other’s arms, he packs his belongings, dresses nicely (because John Seed simply can’t wear sweatpants in public), and she drives him back to his ranch.
When they arrive, she stops her pickup truck a few meters away from the house… and from the small group of cultists gathered at the entrance, eager to celebrate the return of their Herald.
Upon seeing them, Taylor chuckles softly.
“Looks like they organized a little homecoming party for you”, she comments.
John, sitting next to her on the passenger seat, is also looking at them, a tender expression on his face.
“Yes. I’m back home, I suppose.”
His smile then slowly fades, and he turns to Taylor. When their eyes meet, she notices a hint of regret in his. He’s back among his brothers and sisters, sure, but she’s not coming with him...
“Well... I guess this is goodbye, then,” she says, trying not to let her own sadness show.
“But not farewell,” he assures, nodding.
The Baptist gets out of the car, grabs his coat and his bag, goes around the vehicle, and stops at the driver’s open window.
“Thank you for the ride.”
“You’re welcome.”
“In fact…” he adds in a low voice, placing his hand on hers but making sure that, from his followers’ point of view, it looks like he’s just touching the door, “…thank you for everything.”
She smiles fondly in response, and he just stands there in silence for a moment, seemingly studying her features, maybe trying to engrave them in his memory.
“How I regret not kissing you again earlier this morning when I still had the chance,” he finally murmurs.
The cultists are too far away to have heard him, but Taylor isn’t, and her right hand tightens on the wheel.
“See you again soon, ‘Deputy’.”
He hasn’t used this nickname in a long time, and she lets out an amused huff when she hears if. John, now mischievously smirking, discreetly winks and starts walking toward his ranch.
Although he briefly turns around halfway to give her one last, small wave and bittersweet smile (which she returns), she realizes each step he takes hurts more than the last, and that the further away he gets from her, the deeper her heart sinks into her chest.
It was at this moment Taylor knew there would be no going back.

Happy fifth anniversary congratulations to the fifth part of #FarCry!
I can’t find words for how much this game is significant and loved by many! I am incredibly grateful to it for all that it gave me, my friends and all it fans!
I myself came to the FC5 fandom fully only in the spring of 2021:D It so happened that when watching FC5 in 2018, I was already tired of sects after Outlast 2 and The Evil Within 2, and then even Detroit with God of War pulled my attention. But later, as you can see from my art, I am ripe for FC5 and I only regret that AS ALWAYS I came into fandoms 3 years after their hype :D
#FarCry5 brought me back to the FC series fandom, thanks to which I replayed FC3 and completed FC4 and 6 for the first time, and filmed a bunch of content, finally setting up my equipment and programs adequately! And then I finally became more confident in drawing people in fanart!!
I really love this game, I read so many fanfictions, I wrote so many texts myself, I tried to draw fanarts, leaving my comfort zone. And of course, I love headcanons with me and my friends in the game immensely. Without close people in the fandom, the game would not seem as cozy and familiar as it is now! The only pity is that at the time of our passage of the game with Rudy, I did not film the let's play due to the lack of an adequate computer. Otherwise, believe me, there would be more content from me on Far Cry 5 than now on Far Cry 6 !!
FC5 gave us a lot of interesting thoughts and words that still resonate in our heads, a lot of favorite characters, favorite music and a really cozy Hope County ⛪🌾

Barys Brothers HCs
In honor of Far Cry 5's 6th anniversary!
Orion Barys
He's got a playlist of pure, "divorced dad rock" on his phone that he'll have blasting in the kitchen as he makes meals, or as he's out on a drive. It never fails to drive John crazy
Orion's got a burning hatred for judge wolves, after a couple hunted him through the Whitetail Mountains for a week thanks to Jacob
He takes a hell of a lot of pride in his '71 Challenger, even if he drives the thing like he stole it. Donuts and everything
He loves his son, Lux, like no tomorrow
As much as he talks about his time in the FBI, he wouldn't go back for anything. He's too happy in Hope County now anyways
He has one of those "number 1" mugs, in this case its a "#1 Pig Dad" mug John got him with a cartoon version of Snickers under the letters
If he hadn't come to Hope County to retire, he'd have retired in the city and started up a vintage car restoration business/dealer
Orion has a number of vintage band shirts, taking up a good part of the closet
Warren Barys
Hardcore black coffee enjoyer
He's not really much of an animals man, though if he had to choose it'd be a black lab or some form of exotic cat (bobcat vibes no lie) or a pair of rats
Warren has spent a small fortune on his guns, more so his personal ones than any he'd sell. Expensive bags, ammo boxes, you name it
Warren doesn't talk much, though whenever he does it's some short, snarky remark after another
John was his lawyer on several cases-
Though he loves his family
Even if he had one hell of a hard time adjusting to life in Hope County. Especially finding out that his lawyer and his brother were a thing
His first successful arms deal was when he was somewhere in his 20s. He realized how good he was, and he went from there.
