There's a lord of the fae who desperately wants to be a human. He's a creature of otherworldly beauty, something that glitters in the pale moonlight, but he'd give it all up to be a human, even the ugliest human in the world.

The other fae don't understand why. It's why he's never told them. He can make himself look like a human sometimes, but he wants to live as one. He wants skin, to feel what it's like to be covered in skin, and to have bones and blood below that skin. He wants to feel what it's like to sleep, to eat, to make love, even when the other fae so rightfully find it disgusting.

He watches humans a lot. Their lives seem so dynamic and fresh to him. He spends too much time with them too. He wants to live that short human life, even if it means he would age, even if it means he would perish.
