New and Improved Writeblr Intro
I didn't really know what I was doing the first time and my WIP priorities have changed, so here we go again.
Call me Moshke Palmoni (they/them). I spend as much time as I can writing, but that is not as much as it might be because there's also a lot of life going on right now. I also like to read, knit, collect vintage ephemera, and play with my cat. Most of my time currently is taken up with fixing up the 100-year-old house I just bought. It's lovely but it was not cared for in the last couple decades and the previous owners made some interesting decisions. I also visit libraries and museums as much as possible.

To Die Among the Stars
First draft about half done at ~50k words.
In the future, 20 people are sent into space on a second test of an FTL drive, aiming for a habitable planet. The first test was a disaster, so this time they’re more careful—the volunteers are only needed for data on how humans fare at faster than light speeds, so they are selected from prisons and “mental wellness centers” and areas where people would agree to a suicide mission for the promise of feeding their families. No one expects them to live, just to provide enough data to improve the next test. Told from 4 POVs: Pixel, a semiverbal black market modder; Ri, who has so many illicit mods embedded in his body he can no longer experience the world the way most people do; Zippy, a young disabled woman desperate to support her family; and Peppermint, a genetic experiment combining human and cat DNA raised in a lab with only a sentient android for company. Despite all expectations, the group bands together for survival.

A Blade of Ice
In the outlining stage.
Working title. Part of the Legends of Halara series, which follows 1,000 years of fantasy kingdom history. About 300 years into that history, Princen Aryel is born. Aryel is never good at going along with expectations but has a certain duty eso must follow to take care of eson kingdom. Aryel is one of three royal children and not expected to rule, but after eson youngest sibling dies relatively young Aryel has to take on the responsibilities of both leading the army in a generation-long war and leading the kingdom through a time of shortages and despair. Aryel often clashes with the noble advisors in ways eson sibling never did, and the balance between who Aryel is at war and who eso is at court is not an easy one. It certainly doesn't help that in a world of politically arranged marriages, Aryel always seems to be in love with the wrong person.
Worldbuilding Links for Halara: cultural genders are explained here (with pictures of clothing styles here) and non-human gender systems here. This is a basic post about their pantheon of deities and this is a post containing maps of all the local kingdoms.
Cold Iron
In the outlining stage.
Shakatra is 107 years old. They are also 33. They are a rare case of a Fae changeling surviving to adulthood without being killed or dying from iron exposure or the weak constitution common among Fae children chosen to be left. They survived long enough to gain magical strength not only beyond any human but beyond many of the more minor Fae. They used to use this to exert power over Wild Fae, to protect humanity, to exact revenge, or just for fun. Now, however, they are widowed and retired with two kids to take care of. Their brother Kris, also their best (only?) friend is equally happy to be done with that world. Neither of them are prepared for it to find them again. When there is a Fae threat against the entire world, Shakatra may be the only one with the power to stop it and enough love of humanity to bother. But things are not what they seem and questions of betrayal, priorities, and what they are willing to do to protect the life they've built are harder to fight than a direct battle, insidious like the creeping poison of iron.
Links: Character posts here and here.
Backburner WIPs
Time to Kill
Working title. Esther Dahan is part of one of the first teams ever sanctioned to use time travel technology. Against all historical odds, they aren’t cops or soldiers—they’re anthropologists. Her team specializes in Jewish history specifically, and as tough as it is to leave her young daughter behind for long stretches the team is like her family as they get to truly experience what life was once like, always careful not to change anything (the butterfly effect having been disproven, they must still not share too much information or come in contact with major figures). And yet, something is off. In more and more time periods, they find suspicious activity. But they can never quite get enough proof to convince anyone why this matters—why they should believe that these scientists found the first known rogue travelers. It’s not until trying to solve the mystery on their own leads to Esther’s life being torn apart that they’re taken seriously, and even then her team might be the only ones capable of finding out the truth and stopping something even worse.
A Tangled Knot of Gold
Also in the Legends of Halara series, about 200 years into the kingdom's history. Tlapil is the cousin of the heir to the throne, Soter, who is also the only person who treats eso like a person because eso is semi-verbal with unusual body language and interests. Tlapil's main useful skill seems to be mapmaking, but when the kingdom needs unusual solutions Tlapil's ready to help—along with eson only other friend, who happens to be a slime. Having proven esonself, eso holds a respectable position as advisor to eson cousin, but when tragedy threatens to tear apart the entire kingdom it might be up to Tlapil to find a way to hold it together.
Falling Petals
A story of imperfect love and family and undiagnosed disability across generations (they're all autistic before they would have been called that). Ira Katz was born in 1913, the only child of Russian Jewish immigrants. He was clever and charming, but there was always something off-putting about him. He didn't understand why blunt observations and mean jokes went unappreciated. He would give long and detailed lectures on his interests, which included photography, without regard to anyone else's level of interest. He spent his adult life working in the drugstore he inherited from his father and had 4 children with his wife, though he never knew how to connect, loving them from a distance.
Ira's second child, Daniel (born 1939), was also odd and isolated. He was gentle and generous but mocked for being sensitive, for his silly attempts at being serious and adult too soon. So he learned to channel his pain from tears to rage and disappear into comic books to forget about the world. He learned to script friendly conversations so no one could see his confusion or pain. He studied architecture because it was more manly than becoming a librarian, married a teacher, and had twin daughters. He refused to become his father--he never mocked his kids and he spent some time with them--but the pain and overwhelm and frustration would burst out of him in rages that terrified them.
One of Daniel's daughters, Shoshana (born 1961) was also odd. She was bright but seemed young for her age, clinging to toys her sister had long discarded. She had a bad habit of freezing when confused or scared, so she would stare blankly and just not answer people. She cried easily. She read constantly but failed out of college and ended up back with her parents and no chance of marrying or living alone. She convinced herself she was stupid.
And then Shoshana's sister had a daughter, Naomi (born 1987). Naomi was odd in a way Shoshana recognized, and she was determined not to project her own pain onto her niece but to use this chance to break the cycle of pain and give a child a chance to grow up loving herself and her differences.

&  RE  :    bold of you to think i remember these / @londonfallen.
Tumblr media
they aren't used to it, to be rather frank. this kind of attention is entirely foreign to them : not the wandering eyes of confused onlookers, no, they are quite used to that, both from wonderland and beyond. even in the nightmare realm had a good portion of fae looked 'pon their fabled bandersnatch in wonder, so too had silas, once in a dream. it's the ... interest that troubles them, makes them uncomfortable in their own skin, where they had never been before. it is not enough, of course, to deter them. they are who they are, and no societal normalcy that attempted enforcement 'pon them would ever take hold, try as silas had at times, and try as stubborn constables of london's churches might, too. it did not make them any less aware of the wandering eyes, particularly veilgarden's.
it did not make it any less unwanted, either, as their head oft drifted to the clouds, spinning in circles almost as quickly as their steps did in time with the music that plays around them. their thoughts swim, all giggles and half-stumbles, but never so much they would not notice that attention — when it is not their beloved who brushes their fingers 'neath the scraps of their dress, they know. so abrupt is it, the way they spin in startled anger, lips parting to say something : and yet before they've even had the chance, they are not the first to have noticed. their wrist is grabbed, pulled back, and those hands, then, are familiar, as they give in to the gesture, allowing themselves to meander alongside him.
they do not think the patron whom had foolishly chased their skirt had expected them to part from the boisterous crowd they had fallen into dance with so abruptly, stumbling with bare, half rhythmic steps into the lap of another, notably very angry man. the mirth has melted from their own face, haze of honey far from capable of clouding their loyalty, judging plain by the disgusted scowl they wear as they collapse against their soulmate. they do not even blink when silas, then, grabs their face, presses his lips hard 'gainst their own with fingers tangled all within their own wild hair, pulling them against him. they allow him to do this, palms pressed to his chest for the sole purpose of keeping themselves from slipping off of him. they do not know how long he kisses them, but they are a mess by the end of it, though they already had been to begin with. when he at last frees them, presses his lips too to the side of their neck, they do not see if he glares into the dancing crowd, but they do not care, breathless giggles on their lips as they ready themselves to adjust positioning.
their legs, bare as they oft are, cross over one-another, the scraps of the dress's trim falling wayside 'neath the movement as they feel silas's arms snake 'round their waist. they stay with him at the table now atop his lap, falling 'gainst his chest with a huff as their arms wrap around his neck. this puts them slightly taller, allows them to lay their head over his, cradle his own against their half exposed chest whilst carding their fingers through his hair. they are uncomfortable with it, that attention : but so, too, is he, and the sense of safety they find in his embrace is more than anything. were it acceptable, they'd have ripped out the stranger's eyes the moment he had touched their thigh 'pon mere principle! but they needn't, not here, not this time.
silas protects them, always.
Tumblr media
"solo sus ojos? eso es muy misericordioso de tu parte," they murmur against his ear so that they cannot be heard over the music that plays, lips pressing a tender kiss to his temple as they hold him close. they are far from subtle regardless the rings 'pon their fingers, the way they cling to him, his hands on their hip and thigh both. they can feel his fingertips digging into their skin, as if seeking to pull them further into him though it is impossible to be any closer without moving. it is desire to stake claim, every bit as it must be his frayed edges forcing himself to hold back in such a public space. equally they can feel it within him, the passionate ache that tightens his chest and theirs. it is an anger so specific to him, so fiery. it is overbearing, overwhelming, obsessive. so, too, they believe he can feel how they yearn for it — for him — to claim such total possession of them. blatantly, publicly, loudly. how ironic to what one may think of their nature, that they do not want another's attention, let alone this society of rodent mortals. so offended are they, they'd consider burning their legs all over again simply to cleanse their skin, had silas himself not rest his own hand over where they had been touched, instead.
the subject of their ire, pale-faced and likely humiliated, scuttles to disappear into the dancing crowd, head down with bitten lip. he will not, they think, live to see the next day in london, the way they can practically feel their beloved staring after him, hastened pounding of his heart 'gainst his chest. "that man was an underlandian." their eyes shift through a series of emotions : anger, hatred, then devotion as their attention lands on him. now their hand finds his cheek, thumb stroking his skin, so porcelain, perfect. "ikotane burn ho, a'maelamin."

Hello, dear! You've been visited by the random character question fairy! :D ~☆
Describe a time when your character was right or did something that was right. How did they react to this situation? What ramifications did this situation have on them?
THANK YOU!!
This question is perfect for Faenlir, who actually did just ONE good deed that ended up spiraling him into becoming a savior for all of Valenwood.
What was supposed to be a simple trip into the capitol of Malabar Tol to request less patrols near where his hunting grounds are, being a Bosmer werewolf and highly territorial, yet not wanting to cause unnecessary conflict. However, he runs into issue upon issue that random strangers keep asking him to help with, ranging from simple fetch quests to all-out battles within an Ayleid ruin. And poor Faenlir couldn't speak the common tongue very well back then, and most of the people requesting his help were either Altmer or Bosmer who didn't speak fluid Bosmeri, so all he could do was just nod and go along with the crowd.
Even though he was successful in helping to free Valenwood of its ancient evils, he felt as though he went through 50 years worth of adventure and grief within the span of only a month or so. Meeting Indaenir, falling for him, having his heart broken as he watches him get married, being immediately told to go to Reapers March to assist the Mane-candidates, being forced to experience illusions of werewolves slaughtering the Bosmer during the Mane-candidates trials, being forced to kill the illusion of Indaenir after he turns into a werewolf himself, then having to walk away from it all and expecting to return to his minimalist feral lifestyle.
He changed for the better, learned new emotions he never thought possible, but at the cost of knowing that no matter how much of a savior he is- his own race will still scorn him for being a werewolf.

Fae rambles about the idea of GW2 Housing
I wanna talk about housing for a moment, and why I think it would be a great addition to Guild Wars 2.
So I've played a bunch of MMOs that have housing, and each one handles it pretty differently. I'm using these games as my reference point as this is what I'm familiar with, so here's a breakdown. Wont go into the world of subs or irl money maintenance on these, cos that's a whole other kettle of fish. I'm also going to make this as short as possible, so not going to go into the nuances and fiddly stuff.
Archeage: Housing is a finite resource, meaning there's only so many houses out in the world. There are housing districts out within zones and people get to decide how much of that space they take up. So say your house takes up a 4x4 spot. You could, in theory, put your property at the edge of the housing zone and have 3 junk spaces on 2 of the edges, thus making your property appear to be 7 by 7. If you put down another 4 x 4 you can arrange it even more wacky so you're taking up way more than just an 8 x 4 space. Kind of a dick move? Sure. Anyway. It's possible for the player base themselves to make things really unfair on other people. The plus side to this system is that your beautiful house is out in the world. People can walk past and look inside, even go inside if you left the door open, and you generally have some outdoor garden space to plant trees, flowers, and suchlike.
BDO: Housing blends in to the world, usually in towns and cities. You own an instance of the inside of the apartment/house essentially. When you approach the building you get a list of the people who live there, and you can go in and look at their house. Everything is indoors, no outside to speak of. Randoms can just walk in to your house.
ESO: Again, housing blends into the world. Houses can be bought with in game coin, or there's properties that are only available in the cash shop. You can set permissions for specific people to come in to your house, or make it guild only. Randoms cannot just walk in to your house (there's a workaround for this with an addon, where if you've been there before, you can go back in to someone's house if it's public, but it's not like BDO where there's a list of residents, you pick it and go in.... anyway). Some of the houses do have outdoor space, but it cannot be seen from the open world unlike with archeage.
Final Fantasy 14: Housing is a finite resource, but it's not in the open world. Instead there's housing districts that anyone can visit, and plots available for sale, and several instances of these zones. There's a good few thousand plots for server, but they get snapped up and people are hesitent to let them go. I know plenty of people who keep subbing to FF14 just to keep their house, as if you ignore it for 45 days it goes into a demolition phase, where at some point it's up for grabs. It's possible to own an apartment, either in a big public building, or within your guild's house, if your guild is fortunate enough to own a guild house. But this is missing some key features of home ownership, namely a garden. There's things you can put in a garden that apartments can't get, so owning a house is a very sought after part of FF14 for a lot of people.
So.
All 4 games do housing very differently, have different uses, etc. But one thing they all do, is that furniture is a mix of things that you buy/make, or buy from the cash shop. While we'd all love to to just be able to make whatever, having some stuff sold in a cash shop is a great little money maker for the business of game making.
We already have the scribing system in GW2, and I'd love to see that expanded on to make home decorations.
As for the style of house acqusition in a potential GW2 setting, I'd love to see something like a cross between FF14, BDO, ESO. I'd love a housing district where you can claim a property in a village and everyone can just wander around. I'd hate for it to be a finite resource, so I'd love a way for them to just keep creating as many districts as needed. I love snooping around other people's houses, but I also understand how much of a drain it would be on resources if you could go in to absolutely every district, especially if there's no limit to the housing. So maybe make it so you can only enter your district, but if you can go in to others if you're in party/squad with someone who owns a property there.
Once a district is full, the game will create another. Or maybe if that's too intense on the GW2 spaghetti code add new districts at anet’s whim. Archeage and FF14 both have a system where you lose your house if you don't log in / pay the taxes, but that's all tied in to the payment model of those games. As GW2 doesn't do the sub thing, I'd like to think the system can hold your house indefinitely, but maybe to releave some stress on the system unattended houses for X months get cleaned out and someone can nab that plot. (the contents would be mailed back to you or put in a storage or w/e) That way, if there's a system of new instances being added manually, they don't need to add them if there's plots going free.
Oh, and I’d love to be able to live together with people. <3 Where we all have permission to play with any interractables in the house!
But yeah, that's my general thoughts on the matter. It's not perfect, there's flaws, but I've been meaning to get this down into words for a long-ass time.
TL;DR, I really hope we get a housing system in GW2 one day. I want a system where everyone can get a house and can have a pretty garden that people can see, even if it's not everyone. Furniture can expanded on the scribing system, and the gemstore can benefit from selling items as well. Because the game is a business, so as long as there's a fair amount of earnable/craftable things, some gemstore items would be just fine. :)
While this is all just pipe dream fairy make believe, I’m insterested if anyone else has put some thought into how they’d like housing to be.

Babble Bubbles
I am surprised at the recent influx of followers and realize I need to cross post some of my older creations that have been exclusively hosted at The Plumb Bob Keep. I only have a few large mods, but I am particularly proud of them even if it took forever and a day to finish and share them.
I’ll start with my Default Replacement Speech Icons... I play a Historical Fantasy styled game, so hopefully some of you will find these to your taste.
Tumblr media
Many moons ago, I stumbled onto the Icons page of the UESP- Elder Scrolls Online, and I knew our Sims were longing for new topics of interest and conversation. I give you... Babble Bubbles - These are a mix of mostly ESO and other Elder Scrolls Game Icons, with some Sims Medieval, Sims 3, & a Handful of Random Clip Art thrown in to complete the topic chains.
Base Game Interests:
Animals - Horse, Bird, Fish, Rat, Bug
Tumblr media
Crime - Stocks, Shackled Wrist, Lockpicks, Lock, Red Hand. Thieves may be "Caught Red Handed" or perhaps it's Blood.
Tumblr media
Culture - These are straight out of TES and might not jive with everyone, but we have: Falkreath, Bruma, Morthal, Stormcloaks, Riften [edited]. But they could be: Pagans, Romans, Celts, Vikings, Britons.
Tumblr media
Entertainment - Masquerade Mask, Maypole, Lute, Fanfare Trumpet, Stein.
Tumblr media
Environment - Firefly/Lightning Bug, Leaf, Log, Pig, Flower.
Tumblr media
Fashion - Cloak, Vest, Sash, Parasol, Fashion Comb.
Tumblr media
Food - Wine, Cabbage/Lettuce, Pot Pie, Fish, Bread. Because there are so many different food related topics (FT & AL), I wanted this topic to reflect everyday/common foods.
Tumblr media
Health - Tooth, Toe/Thumb, Herbs, Guts, Skull.
Tumblr media
Money - Jewel, Coins, Hands Giving/Receiving Coin, Coin Sack, Gold Bars.
Tumblr media
Politics - The Royal Scepter, Silver Crown, Chalice/Grail, Broken Crown, Golden Crown. My idea behind the Broken Crown was to signify a Corrupt or Dead Monarch, great for Stories, yes?
Tumblr media
Paranormal -  Crystal Ball, Ghostly Face, Mystical Star, Magic Stone, Lighting Orb.
Tumblr media
School - This topic comes in two flavors: Education or Religion, files are labeled for easy deletion of one or the other.
Scroll, Paper, Brain Silhouette, Abacus, Open Book.
Tumblr media
Incense Scensor, Mausoleum, Shaman's Tool, Sacred Tablet, Praying Statue.
Tumblr media
Sci-Fi - Werewolf, Fae Woman, Elf Woman, Banshee, Orc/Ogre.
Tumblr media
Sports - Blue Flag, Gold Star, Broken Shield, Winner's Tokens, Green Flag. Because there are so many different sports related topics (FT & AL), I wanted this topic to reflect tournaments or competitions. The 2 flags, one for either "team", the Gold Star signifying a winner, the Broken Shield depicting the looser, and the Tokens representing bets placed.
Tumblr media
Toys - Noisemaker Drum, Wooden Horse, Blocks, Teddy Bear, Doll.
Tumblr media
Travel - Sextant, Compass, Map, Spyglass, Lantern.
Tumblr media
Weather - Sunny, Partly Cloudy, Wind, Rain, Snow.
Tumblr media
Work - Inn/Tavern Keeper, Fisherman, Craftsman, Hunter/Skinner/Tanner, Farmer.
Tumblr media
Misc. -
Tumblr media
Pet Interests:
Basic - Leaf, Dog, Cat, Pig, Collar.
Tumblr media
Food - Raw Meat, Cooked Fish, Sausages, Cooked Rabbit Leg, Raw Fish.
Tumblr media
Hunger - Fish Tail [Cat], Bones [Dog].
Tumblr media
Outside - Flower, Partly Cloudy, Tree, Log, Rock.
Tumblr media
Playtime - Feather, Lizard, Rat, Balls, Stick.
Tumblr media

Tumblr media
Sleep - Blanket, Rug, Bed, Bed 2, Pillow.
Free Time Interests:
Arts & Crafts - Paint Palate, Woven Fabric, Clay Vase, Thread Spool, Embroidery Thread & Needle.
Tumblr media
Cuisine - Empty Pot, Soup Bowl, Spoon Of Spice, Crock, Pan For the second food related topic, I used icons leaning more toward the cooking aspect.
Tumblr media
Film & Literature - Wax Seal, Envelope, Letter, Inkwell, Book. Since my game is pre-electricity aspects of film haven’t been included.
Tumblr media
Fitness - Fresh Air, Citrus [Vitamin C], Soap, Radish [Veggies], Moon & Star Icon [Spirituality] I went with the idea of Health and Well Being for this topic.
Tumblr media
Games - Fox & Geese, Dice, Chess, Horseshoe, Tafl.
Tumblr media
Music & Dance - Lute, Dancing Lady, Instruments, Dancing Lady 2, Skyrim Lute. I’ve never been completely satisfied with this one, I might revisit in the near future.
Tumblr media
Nature - Beat, Carrot, Grapes, Leak, Berries. This Hobby led me to think more in the direction of Farming or Gathering.
Tumblr media
Science - Jar Of Powder, Alchemist's Stone, Potion, Ambelic, Vial.
Tumblr media
Sports - Sword & Shield, Mace, Yellow Flag, Bow, Dagger. This is the second Sports Topic for our Sims; I went with a combat training idea here.
Tumblr media
Tinkering - Blacksmith Tools, Carpentry Tools, Architect Tools, Farming Tools, Sculpting Tools. I went with a combo of different craft skills with this hobby.
Tumblr media
Apartment Life Stories:
Art Story - Bohemians; Black Salt, Vine, Rune Stone, Teeth Talisman, Magic Potion
Tumblr media
Computer Story - Techie/Wizards/Witches; Varla Stone, Golden Magic Rune, Mystical Spell Paper, Dwemer Puzzle Piece, Storm Stone.

not to deeply sigh once more but it would it once again KILL zenimax to put in an extra dialogue option that doesn’t assume the player has never played an elder scroll before. i’m so tired you did so good with high isle and the alliance leaders and now we’re back to my char looking like a fucking moron.
like it’s dumb enough that you have to be like ‘WHAT?? ME?? YOU WANT ME TO WORK FOR A DAEDRIC PRINCE??’ like the player hasn’t been holding hands with half of them in previous chapters and the base game.

ah yes, nothing quite sets the mood to having a serious conversation with Naryu about Veya more than her glitching between standing up and sitting down in between sentences. 10/10 gaming experience. also the player’s responses were so fucking bad i’m sorry.
