I volunteered a couple of weeks ago at POW! WOW! HAWAII! 2017, a street art festival in the heart of Kakaako. Its such an amazing event that has made its mark on cities all over the country and world! There are murals, art lectures, music, gallery shows and all around art community take over. (In times where art education and general art awareness gets shoved to the side, sometimes painting the city is what it takes to remind people that art exists, its important, and we need it.)

I met so many incredible artists, made lots of new friends, learned lots of new tricks, scrubbed lots of paint buckets, took lots of water bottles to heat exhausted artists, became a heat exhausted artist.. came home dirty and sweaty every night and equally inspired and motivated to create more art. It felt like summer camp -or maybe it was The Dracula’s mural of the campfire.. Whatever it was, I cannot wait to be a part of it again next year.

(Maybe I’ll get to paint my own wall?😈)
