So, Signs that 15x20 isn't real: El Sol beer; warm, saturated lighting; Dean's choice of clothes. Signs the writers were silenced: cut-out-tongue-vampire-thing. Sign it's about sexual repression: Vampires! Sign it's all about the gay: Dean was nailed from behind. Anything else to add to that list of symbols? Because this looks like the writers winking SOS at us in a kidnapper's video.
oh gosh... I keep meaning to rewatch the finale and make a full list of it all, because this is tip of the iceberg stuff. But I just... heck I just don’t want to watch it again :’D
That rewatch is on the agenda, and I’m currently watching 15.09 on the eternal loop. According to the TNT schedule, they’re showing 15.20 on Tuesday, looping directly back to the pilot immediately afterward. So... if I do decide to watch that (and I haven’t decided yet), that’s... gonna be some wild whiplash...
But anyway, back to the question!
You have a pretty good list going there...
I’ll add these things that made the episode feel like not-a-finale:
-no Road So Far segment, or even any sort of “important moments from the last 15 years that brought us to this point” sort of montage/retrospective of their lives
-no Carry On Wayward Son at the beginning, but TWO versions of it back to back at the end
And these things that were just general wtf moments for me:
-Sam? cooking breakfast? since when does Sam make breakfast, ever? that’s Dean’s thing
-Dean, with a dog? since when has Dean ever wanted a dog? That’s Sam’s thing
-Dean makes his bed, and it looks messier when he’s done than before he started (this is... not Dean-like... I actually went back and checked previous shots of his room)
-they never, not once in the episode, act like they have even one (1) single friend or any sort of goal or direction in life, which is weird...
-apparently they’d been unable to find a hunt, making it seem like the supernatural world had been quiet (for a moment I thought maybe monsters were no longer a problem in a post-Chuck world), until they stumbled on a hunt out of nowhere after choosing to go to a pie festival... as if the moment they chose to do something to move on and just have fun, suddenly there was work for them to do and they immediately abandoned everything to hunt these mystery monsters from John’s journal, which turned out to be a trap for them (specifically for them? considering the rando s1 vampire seemed to have lured them there?)
-The fact Dean recognized this vampire he never even interacted with and somehow magically knew her name, despite it never having been stated in canon and, again, Dean never having interacted with her outside of watching her escape with the vampire who actually DID bear them a grudge from 1.20...
-the weird lingering close up shot of the rebar during the fight scene
-the invocation of “destiny” and “don’t have a choice” as they went into a freaking pie festival... this hits bad right now because I’m rewatching 15.09 in the background as I type this, and it was almost word for word what the Dean in Chuck’s vision of the future said to Sam as they resigned themselves to go off on their final hunt (which was vampires btw), which they lost because in the next scene Sam and Dean have become vampires and are both killed... so like... this was Chuck’s story. The trappings might’ve been different, but it was still fundamentally the same... Cas locked away in a terrible place (ma’lak box in Chuck’s story, Empty in Dabb’s), Dean resigned to his fate because of a vampire hunt gone bad.
-then the pie festival itself... Dean’s got a huge tray with half a dozen different varieties he’s excited to try (purchased from Dabb’s Pies...), is eager to taste them all (like... metaphorically trying out different “apple pie life” ending scenarios, because he’s finally free to explore and maybe he actually wants the pecan pie life...), but before he can even taste the first bite, Sam... chooses one and smashes it in Dean’s face.
-even weirder, Dean never once in the episode says Cas’s name, or seemed even once to give a dang about Cas at all... and handwaved it when Sam mentioned Cas and Jack. It had been like... days, on screen (if they’d intended for more time to have passed, they would’ve indicated that on screen, and they did not... they showed us MAYBE three days passing since the events of 15.19). So like... did Dean have a personality transplant or what. Sam says Cas’s name in the ep, Bobby says it in Heaven. Dean... never does. Which is weird, considering how many times he’s said Cas in canon over the years, to the point it’s literally become memes...
-jumping around a bit here, but why Masked Vampires? Why had John failed to figure out they were vampires originally? Because he believed vampires were extinct? because he hadn’t been told they existed at all yet when he’d confronted them in 1986? Was John suddenly just A Bad Hunter after years of canon reinforcing that he was actually a really good hunter?
-and why THIS WEIRD CONGLOMORATION OF JOHN-RELATED CASE NONSENSE? From his journal to the murder clowns to rando vampire from their first vamp hunt? It’s like the perfect storm of erasing the last 15 years just to “bring it back to the start” to end it all like it could’ve had this been s1 still.
-speaking of John, and the El Sol in Heaven... WHY would Bobby hand Dean “John’s Beer” in Heaven? Especially since Dean expressed the fact that he didn’t even like it? Like... why wouldn’t he have been handed a beer he actually ENJOYED in Paradise? Why force a John Beer on him when he could literally have anything he wanted?
-and why was Heaven for Dean, in a place where he could literally have anything he wanted, go anywhere and do anything, why was he just driving through the woods along back roads? After years of talking about how he wanted to go “toes in the sand,” take a vacation, go fishing, or even finally get to eat a piece of pie? Or like ANYTHING he’d talked about wanting to do over the years that he never had a chance to... but apparently the thing he’d arguably spent the most time during his life doing is the only thing he wanted to do now that every possibility was open to him? Yeah, no that’s stupid...
-Tree (the final shot of 15.04 with bobblehead Sam and Dean by the tree like they didn’t have a thought of their own, Chuck’s plastic figurines dancing on his orders, very much like where they randomly parked and had the “vamp mime” conversation)
-Dean casually resorting to the threat of torture after YEARS of the show condemning this choice. Dean gratuitously being “a killer” when his acceptance of the fact that that’s not who he was in the previous episode was literally the thing that defeated Chuck... like... this was entirely stupid...
-just... the pacing of the episode was so weirdly wonky, with random cuts and no sense of time passing anywhere, nor interconnectedness between scenes, and the weirdly uncomfortable interminable death scene. Like, it looked like the death scene of a soap opera heroine. It was upsetting when Dean hit the spike and realized what had happened, but then he just... lingered... dangling on the hook for Sam’s benefit. Like Dean was nothing more than set decoration like a framed portrait for Sam to hang up and walk away from. Which is weird... and stupid... Dabb knows how to do pacing, and it’s like he forgot everything he ever knew about writing to force this “good way to die” trope, as if the previous 15 years of the show hadn’t been spent denouncing (and Dean finally overcoming) this mindset of “I always knew I’d go down swinging” or whatever. WHY. IT WAS STUPID.
-Wig
there’s probably more, but I’m tired and have reached my daily limit for the wtf of this episode >.>
Anyone else, please feel free to add more.

send a character: Dakota Block & Paloma Gutierrez :D
Dakota Block
First impression: I was initially excited for her potential, giving us another sibling dynamic on a show that does so well with them, as well as the idea of there being someone who’s both in-the-know while not being dead center of the action. By the end of the season my excitement had dimmed somewhat, probably because they didn’t get a chance to really explore her and the dynamics she was part of, and because I was distracted by other aspects of the show so that she sort of faded into the background for me.
Impression now: I’m back to being excited over all the potential she holds and wanting to explore them in fics (if canon won’t do it, I’ll just have to do it myself :P). I overlooked her immediately following my first watch of season three. But upon rewatches, I feel like there is just so much there, just beneath the surface of what we are shown.
Favorite moment: I love the reveal of who she is, right where she’s shown to be Earl McGraw’s daughter and pulls out a shot gun to shoot Richie with. She has no regrets after either, she made a plan to seek justice for her daddy and she executed it. Rather flawlessly too I might add. (She couldn't have accounted for vampires being real.)
Idea for a story: I still want to write the Enemies with Benefits story between her and Richie. XD I just gotta get more comfortable writing sex scenes first.
Unpopular opinion: I feel like most of the fandom dislikes her, so it’s very likely that any positive opinion I have about her is unpopular, lol.
Favorite relationship: Canon-wise it’s probably her and Richie. They have all this underlining tension and sort of pull towards each other that just screams “explore me.” But the sibling relationship I’ve built up in my head for her and Freddie (unlike their limited interactions in canon) probably beats it by a hair.
Favorite headcanon: She resented Freddie at first, for taking so much of her daddy’s limited attention away from her, his “real kid” (her words), especially when Freddie would stay at their place while his mom worked extra shifts. It wasn’t until they were in middle school and her parents started fighting more that the two of them developed the sort of step-sibling relationship they have today.
Paloma Gutierrez
First impression: I full on thought she was going to be an unnamed background character for a while so I didn’t really start paying attention to her until the dressing room scene at Blanchard’s, and then she disappeared shortly after. By the time she showed up again at the end I once again sort of forgot/overlooked her. *shrug* I’m not entirely sure what I thought of her in the beginning.
Impression now: She slowly grew on me. I didn’t dislike her at all, but was rather fairly neutral about her. With every rewatch I like her just a bit more. She’s got spunk and is smart enough to play along with/play into her captors if she thinks it’ll benefit her in some way, and she held strong to her beliefs even when faced her diosa in all her flawed glory (at least until she was turned).
Favorite moment: It’s a tie between the moment when Kisa pushes her hair back and you can see her take note and start tying to figure out how she can use Kisa’s attraction to her advantage (just that look on her face! It’s such the perfect look for that moment!) and when she first sees Kisa vamp out and realizes that the goddess she’s praying too is already there, both using her and protecting her in her own twisted way.
Idea for a story: I have nothing that centers on her personally but I do have an idea floating where she *SPOILER!* in my fic *cough*
Unpopular opinion: I don’t think I have one. :/
Favorite relationship: Her and Kisa probably
Favorite headcanon: Less a headcanon about her and more just a headcanon that she was the reason for: Culebras aren’t entirely themselves upon first being turned. At first, they are easily influenced by those who turned them and have a sort of instinct to follow/obey/take the side of the one who’s venom is in their veins. Paloma so utterly flipped after Malvado turned her, suddenly resenting and hating her goddess who, while having kidnapped and been cruel to her (although gods aren’t necessarily known for being nice to mortals in most mythos), had also saved her repeatedly by the end of their time together, kept her word about letting her go free once she had the trail she needed, and told her enough about Malvado to know that he was the source of her cruelty. It never really made sense to me why it is that she seemed to so completely drink the kool-aid where Malvado is concerned when she repeatedly refused to accept her fate when Richie and Kisa took her. And it also had the added bonus of explaining why Scott was so willing to believe Carlos when he told him he’d find his family for him and Richie dropped a lot of his anger towards Santanico right after being bitten.
Oh, I do headcanon that her soul was pure, kind of like Kate’s. Her faith was different obviously, but it was still pretty strong up until Malvado got his hands on her, and there had to be a reason that Kisa felt she was going to be extra attractive to whatever culebra Malvado sent to buy their next supply of girls (who happened to be Carlos that time), enough to make her the primary bait.

15x08: Our Father, Who Aren’t In Heaven
Then:
Tumblr media
Fighting the good fight since 2010
Now:
At the Lucky Elephant Casino, God’s knocking back fruity drinks, playing slots, and murdering everyone around him. Things don’t look so fun in Chuck-land.
Meanwhile, Eileen is living her best new life hunting a werewolf. She’s kicking butt but has a temporary setback when Sam shows up. She shoves him out of the way to finish the job. She asks Sam if he’s following her. MAYBE he’s being a little overprotective, but c’mon, he did just bring her back from the dead. I’m guessing he’d like to keep her on the side of the living a little longer than a week or two.
Tumblr media
Later at the bunker, they’re eating their respective burger (Eileen) and salad (Sam), and Dean walks in with the demon tablet. He’s hoping the tablet will reveal a weak spot with God. They’re going to need Donatello!
Tumblr media
Cas knock’s on Donny’s door. Hmm, I see, divorced husbands still communicating about the case and Cas still doing things for the cause.
Donatello comes back to the bunker, but isn’t happy about it. He gets to work eating chicken wings and translating the tablet again. Sam, Dean, and Cas casually hang out in the library and sneak concerned looks towards the prophet.
Tumblr media
Donny finds some footnotes written by Metatron about God’s secret fear that he only shared with “his favorite.” Lucifer was already locked away by the time the tablets were written. He must mean Michael. The problem with finding Michael is that he’s locked away in the Cage. Donatello starts to freak out over how overly dramatic TFW’s lives are but then passes out in a chair. He comes to --but it’s Chuck this time communicating directly through his prophet. He tells them to leave it alone. Then he threatens all the women in their lives if they don’t (and I just hate/love this because this calls back to early SPN so much when the women died for all their man-pain.)
They tell Donatello to go home. Then they all decide (Cas reluctantly) to go to Hell to find Michael. Dean sarcastically tells Cas that he can “stay here” at the bunker. And I can’t for the life of me find the post now, but whoever made a post of Dean increasingly going from sarcasm to flat out begging for Cas to stay at the bunker is my hero.
In the bunker’s kitchen, they cast the same spell Rowena used to get Cas and Belphagor to Hell before. Dean cuts his hand as part of the spell (something he’s done a thousand times before) and Cas takes the time to heal him (but doesn’t touch him like he normally does) and it takes so much of him to do it. I’m just going to sit here quietly for a bit before proceeding.
Tumblr media
Once in Hell, Cas leads the way until they run into a bunch of badass lady demons that completely kick their asses. Well, they do until a very familiar voice bellows, “STOP!”
It’s ROWENA!!!
She’s now Queen of Hell. She’s also posturing up a storm. Ah. They tell her they want to lock up Chuck and they’re looking for Michael. She tells them he could be anywhere. The Cage opened just like the rest of the doors in Hell. She sends her demon minions to find Michael.
Back at the bunker, Eileen is watching over the spell, and she gets a call from Sue, another hunter. She needs help with a vamp nest. Eileen agrees to help as soon as she’s done helping TFW.
In Hell, TFW meets with Rowena in her throne room. She tells Sam that killing her was a good thing. She’s queen! Then she asks him to get her another drink (!) so she can have a little therapy time with the other two clowns. She tells them to “fix it” because there’s no reconciliation in death. A demon comes in to inform them that Michael “is nowhere to be found.”
For Perfect Framing Science:
Tumblr media
Actually, he can be found at Jaci’s Red Wagon diner. It seems that Adam and Michael are good buds and Adam’s currently enjoying his first burger in ten years.
Dean checks in with Donatello just one more leeeetle time to see if he’s gotten any Chuck-adjacent flashes. Just when you think you’re out, yadda yadda yadda… He THEN checks in with Sam about Eileen. She is FINE, Dean, they have “an agreement.” Dean picks up on Sam’s waffling, and tells Sam that she fits the parameters of a potential partner: she knows the life, plus she’s hot. That’s way better than the life Sam tried to build with Amelia, a bag of limes, and a dog. This conversation is also notable for Dean’s admission that he’d been in a very dark place not long ago but he’s climbing out of it now.
At the diner, Adam continues to chill with Michael and contemplate the future when Lilith arrives.
Tumblr media
She’s there to bring Michael to Chuck. “I’m not accustomed to being fetched,” Michael says coldly. It looks like things are headed towards fisticuffs when Michael just…burns her to ash right there. Ah, archangels. (Side note: I rewatched this section with the sound off while gathering images and watching her performance is every bit as engaging. I’ll miss you, scrunchy-nose Lilith.)
Donatello has a vision and sees Michael’s spiteful smiting (smiteful?). He calls Dean with Michael’s location. He’s in Cairo! Time for Dean to hop on a plane and hold Cas’s hand nervously the entire time… I’m ready for an airplane destiel fic episode!
Tumblr media
Cas has an alternate, non-hand-holding suggestion. He’ll pray to Michael instead. In the quiet of an upstairs corner of the bunker, next to a REAL and also METAPHORICAL CHESS SET, Cas characterizes their last meeting as “unpleasant” and asks to meet up. “I’m not your enemy anymore. Now we all have the same enemy. God himself.”
Mmmkay, compelling words. Michael meets Cas in a warehouse. He remembers Cas. “You called me assbutt and set me on fire.” LOL, classic. Cas faces Michael stoically and lights a circle of holy oil around him. That’s the Winchester’s cue to enter and they do so with STYLE.
Tumblr media
DAMN!
Dean presents a set of warded cuffs for Michael’s consideration. There’s clearly only one way out of the circle of fire.
For Check out the Curtains Made of Chains SO PRETTY Science:
Tumblr media
Michael is twenty-five shades of pissed off at being confined. In the bunker he accuses the Winchesters of abandoning their brother and then shocks them all by flashing Adam back in control.
Tumblr media
Adam seems much more chill than Michael and reveals that he and the archangel only had each other in the cage so they came to an agreement. Dean, who only recently stopped dragging himself around in a post-Michael traumatic haze, is gobsmacked that Michael’s letting Adam walk and talk. He tells Adam that there’s nothing they can say to fix what they did by leaving him in the cage. “How about ‘I’m sorry?’” Adam suggests.
Tumblr media
Michael wrests back control and we go back to Chuck talk. Team Free Will attempts to briefly explain that Chuck isn’t trying to usher in “boring” paradise. Instead, Michael’s dad would rather see everybody suffer, including Michael.
Adam pops back behind the helm and advises them to stop their paltry attempt at convincing Michael of Chuck’s perfidy. On his (their) own, Adam unpacks the situation. He doesn’t forgive the Winchesters for what they did, but he does think they’re operating from good intentions. I don’t remember where I saw this online, but somebody posted that they have never liked Adam more than in this episode. I completely agree! There’s a lovely amount of complexity and growth hinted at through this performance.
Tumblr media
Michael finds it hard to shake off a near-eternity of being God’s favored son. God is “having a mid-eternity crisis,” Adam suggests. Maybe Michael should at least entertain the possibility that Chuck isn’t on the up-and-up. Michael doesn’t want to doubt his father. “You still care about that after he left you in the cage?” Adam asks.
Meanwhile, Eileen’s friend Sue calls again. She’s ready to move on the vamps and needs backup NOW. When Eileen hesitates, Sue needles her about having to ask for permission. Eileen rises to Sue’s barb and agrees to meet up. The camera tumbles, Sue swears, and Eileen acts immediately as the call ends. She races to Sam’s room and fills him in on her friend’s perilous situation. Together, they run off to give Sue backup. (I love how this scene both shows Eileen’s need to assert her own independence and her absolute trust and pragmatism in getting Sam to back her up.)
Tumblr media
Cas heads in to speak with Adam/Michael. Michael is still not on board the fight-Chuck train. Cas responds with sass, as is his custom. “I never liked you. I thought you were too haughty. Too…to paraphrase a friend, you had an entire oak tree shoved up your ass.”
Tumblr media
Now Cas finds him pitiable. Michael isn’t God’s favorite. He’s just a tiny part of Chuck’s favorite soap opera. DAMN, Cas.
Cas goes even further, telling Michael that Lucifer was the smart one all along, and Michael SNAPS. He flips Cas over the table and gets him in a headlock. Cas struggles, and manages to lock both his hands on Michael’s temples. It’s brain zapping time! Even an archangel is no match for Cas’s mind mojo, and Cas dumps a clip show of Chuck being a dick writer into Michael’s head.
Later, Cas decompresses alone in the kitchen. Dean arrives, then suggests that Cas might have misjudged the situation and gone too far with Michael. D E A N. Before Cas left, Michael essentially said, “Leave. Get out. I want you dead.” We’ve all been in agony for several days now over the parallels between this line and what Cas thinks he’s getting from Dean and AAAAUGH THE SWEET PAIN OF IT. “We didn’t bond,” Cas summarizes. If you need me, I’ll be hunched in this burning dumpster, muttering about profound bonds.
Tumblr media
The bunker rattles, and they race to Michael’s room. He greets them with, “God lied to me.” He gave everything for Chuck, but it turns out he’s not even unique across the multiverse if there are other Michaels out there.
Sam and Eileen arrive at the hunt and discover abandoned vehicles. Sam’s suspicion bone is tingling, but then Sue shows up. She’s got this swagger, so Boris and I immediately assume she’s been turned into a vamp because we’ve been watching this show since forever. Uh, Sue’s not a vamp. She’s Chuck! Or…you know, Chuck’s her! [Admiral Ackbar voice] It’s a trap!
Michael agrees to help Team Free Will. He pulls out a slip of paper with a spell on it that can contain Chuck just like it contained Amara. All they need is myrrh, cassia, rock-rose, and the nectar of a leviathan blossom. It’s a flower that grows in Purgatory. Michael opens up a rift-style door with the snap of his fingers.
Tumblr media
The door will stay open for twelve hours. Dean uncuffs Michael/Adam and apologizes for what happened to his half brother. Adam smiles sadly and wishes them luck in their Chuck-fighting endeavors. After he/they leave, Cas and Dean turn towards the glowing rift. It’s Purgatory time, baby! And you know what they say about Purgatory. It’s the perfect place to work out your emotions in a friendly, non-deadly environment!
Tumblr media
Quotingmoon in Purgatory:
There’s a crack in his invincibility shield
When I go crazy again, just shoot me
Usually I enjoy our little process. I toss something at you guys and you slam it right back. It’s fun! Like tennis! With monsters
What am I picking up from you two? A wee tif? Tell your Auntie Rowena
Why would he send you, a demon, a speck of infernal bile?
Oh, I didn’t come to beg
Since when do we get what we deserve?

I saw:
Vampire Hunter D- In a far future world that takes it’s social and aesthetic cues from the past, monsters exist and the world is ruled over by vampire aristocracy. A girl living on a farm with her younger brother gets bitten by the local vampire lord who wants to amuse himself by making her his bride. She hires a vampire hunter drifting through to kill the vampire. Turns our he’s half vampire on his daddy’s side (guess who! LOL)  and has a creepy indepent sort of demon face living in the palm of his hand....look, I dunno. The hand thing is never explained exactly, but it’s one of the more interesting details so I just go with it.  Can, in typical western fashion, the mysterious drifter for hire save the day?
You know, it’s funny but this is a rare case of me actually seeing something with new eyes. Back in the day this was one of the first anime films I saw. (films, not series like Gatchman, Robotech, etc) It made a real impression, probably out of that newness and  out of that and my interest in vampire fiction. I remembered it as more atmospheric, moody and dark, visually and tonally distinctive, maybe even a touch distrurbing. Rewatching it for the first time in more that 20 years I rolled me eyes. A lot. A heck of a lot....
Actually, there is a disturbing element. The girl is treated to continual threats of sexual assault, when she isn’t trying to offer to have sex with the hero. She starts this as a payment plan offer, but later she falls for him, despite the fact he keeps her at arm’s length and bately speaks. Now there is no actual sex, but there is plenty of adolescent sexualization. The girl  is dressed so she is physicalLy incapable of even standing still without showing her underwear, or maybe panties are outerwear in this future. Yep, running about fighting monsters her one outfit is all copious cleavage and crotch shots. When an elderly paternal figure gets vamped he rips off her cross, exposing one of her breasts in the process, then soends a few moments with lolling tongue saying he should have lusted after her sooner. There is even a completely pointless scene as she showers, just the camera leering at her animated body. This is one of those films where women are there to be “sexy” and the posibility of rape hovers over almost every interaction. Yeah, very disturbing!
But really, all that is just appealing to the target audience. It’s like the gysers of blood shooting about in ways totally defying nature or the way monsters gets sliced in half neatly, falling away very slowly to extend the gore. It’s so overt it’s almost amusing. Like, “Aw, you think you are edgy, don’t you? You’ll see things differently when you grow up kid.” and I pat the movie patronizingly on the head, maybe ruffle the continually wind tossed hair. It has a few underlying nice ideas and basic designs, but it really does feel that out of the context of it’s era it’s not all that,...well...good.
Still, I don’t really  regret rewatching it, even if my memory was a lot more interesting than what I found......

I just watched 6.11 (again) (for probably the 50th time) (I love this episode) but I’ve also succumbed to the Con Crud™ and have no brain for meta. So here have the rambling notes I typed at Lizbob instead. (mostly for my own personal reference when I get to 11.17 and 12.09 in this run through the rewatch, because I’ve probably posted every thought listed below the cut before, but my brain is currently awash in too many germs to just go find all those posts atm)
sorry 6.11 is on and I am heavily distracted :P Dean's dead. Again.
elizabethrobertajones oops :D compare and contrast to 11x17/12x09?
mittensmorgul nooooooooooooooo I've already got one long meta about Cas open in a tab that I'm trying to write.
elizabethrobertajones oops :D
mittensmorgul (or trying not to write, since I'm supposed to be writing my pinefest fic which is still stuck)
elizabethrobertajones I do think 6x11 is in the pro-dependency part of the show like woah there's almost no consequences >.> argh you've had a busy week you can't be blamed for that :P
mittensmorgul but it's the key to understanding how cosmic consequences work, with Dean's lessons about not killing the little girl
elizabethrobertajones yeah
mittensmorgul Back in s6, Death was more interested in teaching Dean a lesson about what Cas was up to than worrying about Sam and Dean's hijinks. Cas's business was much more urgent and... cosmic... in consequences
elizabethrobertajones A+ on the reapers and Dean side of the story D- on "this is a bad idea don't use them to fix Sammy" thing :P but I love it anyway and at this part of the show it's not a problem and they don't make it one, it's just a gesture that happens and the problems with the wall later get so messy but Dean is never blamed? It goes to Cas for BREAKING it, not really Dean for putting it in him >.>
mittensmorgul yeah, they never really pin all of that back on Dean. But then again, Sam is glad to have his soul back... once he has his soul back. Given the choice, I think he would (if he had his soul) choose to take it back and go through all that again I mean, it eventually WAS his choice in 6.22. He didn't have to reintegrate all those parts within himself, you know? He could've given up. His "other parts" did give him that alternative.
mittensmorgul So even if Dean and Death had shoved it back against his will, he did choose it for himself in the end.
mittensmorgul And to some degree, I think Sam running around soulless really was an abomination in the cosmic sort of way. I think it was offensive to Death, too. Against the natural order.
elizabethrobertajones yeah and Sam was dangerous on a cosmic level he knows all sorts of magic and secrets that could seriously fuck up the world if soulless Sam decided everyone was weak and would do better if he subjugated them ... I mean he could BMoL the whole thing
mittensmorgul yep. and he left behind a lot of "collateral damage" on his hunts... and that was while he'd been trying to be a good hunter. When he wasn't trying to be a good hunter, he was trying to murder Bobby in cold blood...
mittensmorgul And even when he WAS trying, he let Dean get turned by a vampire to have an "in" into that vamp nest, and basically using Dean, Ben, and Lisa as bait in 6.01, and lying about the Alphas to Dean, etc.
elizabethrobertajones Yeeeah In 6x01 I am convinced it's Sam's car that Dean has to stop for at the junction before he sees the claw marks in the garden
mittensmorgul And 6.09... oohhhhh
mittensmorgul Dean's letting the armed robbery guy suffer for an extra minute or two. He doesn't make heart attack guy suffer, but he's at least nice to the dude
mittensmorgul Yeah, and Tessa keeps leveling up the difficulty factor until Dean balks, and then has to kill a woman who died because of his refusal to do his job... And "fails" the test trying to save her husband and a busload of innocent people...
elizabethrobertajones she's an excellent teacher
mittensmorgul yep
elizabethrobertajones Tessa is one of the best characters on the show... I just love her so much she's neutral and powerful and never gives Dean the time of day
elizabethrobertajones I am a massive Dean fan but my favourite characters are the ones that completely stump/terrify him Cas... Death... Tessa... Cain...
mittensmorgul yeah
elizabethrobertajones (aaron :P)
mittensmorgul And yet each of them has a weird soft spot for him
elizabethrobertajones yeah
mittensmorgul Because he put the ring back on, learned the lesson, and went back and killed the little girl, and fixed the natural order... he won the bet.
elizabethrobertajones :D not that Death would just tell him :P mittensmorgul yeah
I don't think he can just outright explain that sorta stuff it would violate the natural order to do so
