Mammon x Reader: Dance With Me

Despite the throng of beings drunkenly swaying off-time to the pounding music, there somehow managed to be a clear patch of tiling on the dance floor that no one dared tread. It seemed to be beckoning to you, a spot for you to let loose and have fun. The tiles held a shine that winked at you with the occasional pass of a strobe light. And yet, you couldn’t bring yourself to move.
It wasn’t the first time Asmo and Mammon had dragged you over to the Fall. Usually, you’d be more than eager but this just wasn’t the night. A busy day and a sullied mood left you drifting away from the demons and leaning onto a wall. Downing a glass of Demonus may have no intoxicating effect on you, but the sickly aromatic scent and flavour managed to distract you from the stress of R.A.D. as your gaze settled on that blessed spot on the dance floor.
It would be nice to let loose, wouldn’t it? It would probably be for the best, to get rid of the tension in your muscles, to exert the frustrations that were filling you to the brim. But you couldn’t. Through the haze of artificial smoke you could still see the glowing eyes of every demon as they bore holes into your figure, unblinking. Were they scrutinising you? Had they still not adjusted to the thought of a human invading their space? You had been here before repeatedly, but it seemed you still weren’t welcome. Looking back at the dance floor, the space you mentally reserved for yourself had now become obscured by some other beings. With a heavy sigh that fell on ears deafened by the music, you set your glass down and headed towards the exit.
“Oi, MC! Leavin’ already?”
You turned to see Mammon in front of you, a drink in each hand. His chest was heaving lightly, eyes wild as if he had been scouring all of Devildom for you. You nodded slowly, each tilt of the head leaving Mammon’s face more crestfallen by the second.
“B-but you spent no time here!”
You shrugged. “I’m just not feeling it, Mammon. I’m going back home.”
But you didn’t follow through with your own words as you stood awkwardly, unable to take another step towards the exit. Mammon frowned.
“Did some lower demon give ya a hard time? Gimme a name, I’ll-”
“No one did,” you replied hurriedly. “I just…”
Mammon wasn’t the type to laugh at you but shame still burned your cheeks. You shouldn’t be so bothered being unable to dance in front of everyone. But your gaze found the ground, your hand creeping up wrap around Mammon’s.
“I wanna dance.”
“...”
“...”
“Well, what’re you waitin’ for?”
Shoving the drinks to a poor waiter passing by, Mammon took your hand again and pulled you back to the main room despite your protests. The Avatar of Greed had no shame, pummeling other demons aside with his shoulders, yelling at others to move with a voice that somehow managed to be heard over the music. His hold on you was firm, but warm, continuously tugging you until the two of you were at the centre of the dance floor, a small clearing made to make way for the prestigious Avatar and exchange student. If demons weren’t staring at you before, they most certainly were now.
“Mammon,” you tried to chastise, voice low. You looked around, gauging if there was a possible gap amidst the horde of demons for you to make a break for it. “People are watching.”
“Let them,” Mammon grinned smugly. Taking your other hand, he started to sway them in time to the music, encouraging you to move on your own. With each beat, the tension in your joints was easing. “They’re gonna get jealous that I have ya. I mean, they’re gonna get jealous that you’re dancin’ with me!”
You chuckled half-heartedly as Mammon kept stubbornly tugging at your arms to get your rigid body to flow with the music. Letting your mind wander, your gaze wandered with it as you accidentally locked eyes with one of the many demons watching the two of you.
“Nuh, uh. Eyes on the Great Mammon only!”
His shout drew your eyes back to him. You didn’t remember his face being so close to yours the last time you looked at him. His hands that were on yours traced up your arms, up your shoulders, up your neck until they settled on the sides of your head. His hands cupped your ears, dulling the sound of the synths reverberating around you. Forehead against yours, the remnants of his breath tickling your lips, your vision was filled with Mammon, and his with you.
“They don’t matter, alright? No one else does, nothin’ else does. What matters is you wanna dance, so I’m gonna make sure you can.”
His hands pulled away from you but reluctantly so, the tips of his fingers lingered on your skin for a moment longer. His azure eyes emanated a comforting glow, yet the golden specks within them encouraged cheekiness. With a genuine smile reserved only for you, he compelled you to move. To feel the music as it reached down to your very soul. As it lifted your spirits to such heights where mortal concerns were insignificant. Where all that mattered was you, the melody and your first man.

It wasn’t every night Solomon found himself sleepless, but he spent it like any other night since he became your lover. Head against the pillow, facing you as you slept soundly. So exhausted by the antics you had with the other Devildom residents, you had fallen asleep before he had the opportunity to turn the light off. He opted to keep it on, allowing him the perfect view of your face.
He couldn’t restrain himself. Risking the possibility of you waking up, he reached to cup the side of your face, stifling a chuckle as your face immediately twitched at the contact. Yet your expression eased as his thumb rubbed light and soothing circles on your cheek. It always hurt when you shied away from his gaze, and as much as he loved flustering you, he always wanted to see any and every expression you were adorning. At least now, with your guard down, he can take in your features in their full beauty. How fortunate was he to be able to spend this time with you. Despite the faces he sees in Purgatory Hall or his visits to the Celestial Realm, you had the most angelic appearance of them all.
Under the pads of his fingers he could feel every groove and bump of your skin. He knew these days fellow humans were pedantic in covering up so-called ‘flaws’, but in his years of living he never understood why. Every indent on the skin told a story, each mark a testament to your time in the realms. He traced over the markings, marveling at them like they were the finest pieces at a museum.
Eventually, his movements came to a stop once he reached your eyes. In the corners, the indentations of crows' feet stretched to your temples, a reminder to him of all the times you were elated to be by his side. And yet, something was poisoning the warmth in his heart. Was it the lighting or were they always so distinguished? He was happy to see the remnant of your smiles imprinted into your skin, but his mind couldn’t help but wander. Wander into the future where the talons of crows’ feet will stretch further on your skin, reaching the boundaries of your face and to the roots of greying hair. Where wrinkles cut deep into skin that have lost their colour. Where the pulse pounding under his fingers could only thrum weakly and so achingly slow.
The time you had here was finite, Solomon knew that. He had yet to bring up the idea of you spending eternity with him, it felt like such a selfish request. He couldn’t make you suffer the pain of mourning everyone else for the sake of him. And so, he stood by and watched. Watched as you walked down the path of life and he stood still. With every lighthearted joke of how you were ‘too old for this’ or how ‘old age was getting to you’, he was painfully reminded how you were constantly moving forward. And one day you’ll walk past the horizon, leaving him behind.
“Solomon?”
Brought back to the surface of his thoughts, he shook his head slightly at you calling his name. Voice croaky with sleep, syllables slurred, Solomon responded with his classic, enigmatic smile.
“Yes, my dear?”
“Why are you crying?”
Feeling your fingers brush just under his eyes, he closed them, the sensation of tears brimming in his eyes and overflowing as they ran down his cheek. They were caught by your thumb as he let out a shaky exhale.
“I… I wasn’t aware.”
“Do you want to talk about it?”
He stayed silent as he caught your wrist. Nimble fingers dragging your hand down until the back of your palm lay flat against the pillow and he rested his cheek on top, gently nuzzling into it. ‘Talk about it’? What was there to say? You, out of everyone, would be the most aware of your own mortality, he had no need to remind you. But perhaps there were other things he could remind you of now that you were here with him.
“I love you,” he said eventually.
“I love you too,” you responded instantly but your voice was laced with concern. On the hand he laid on, your thumb rubbed his jawline soothingly. He responded with a content hum.
“And I’ll love you forevermore,” his voice was quiet but grounded, determined. “No matter what happens. I love you.”
“Solomon…”
You pulled yourself closer to him, pressing your forehead against his and his arms instinctively wrapped around you. You peered into his eyes and he looked back in awe. Even as time waged a war against the rest of your body, your eyes shone with the sparkle of youth. Glowing with vitality and wit, more magical than any spell he could ever conjure. Under your watchful gaze he could be at ease, sleep starting to overtake him. In the last few moments of consciousness, his hold on you tightened into a comforting yet firm embrace, one so secure that not even time itself could pry you away from him.

Very angsty
Y/n is a secret route that’s considered a bad route. Y/n being a villain that can get unhealthy obsessed with the MC.

Warning: Some yandereish thoughts here
MMMM I can definitely see the angst, especially for Simeon, Luke, Beelzebub and Solomon who just want you to have a happy ending (Luke is the only one I can see who would be absolutely devastated). A bad ending where you must burn bridges and can't resolve the rest of the main plot will make everyone's heart hurt a little. But if I have to be honest, I think quite a few of the boys would dig it skdjfksdfd
Especially Levi who spends his time unhealthily down bad for idols and anime characters, having someone do the same back for him is a dream come true (and as an otaku, he most definitely has a thing for yanderes).
Lucifer, Asmodeus, Belphegor and Satan find a pride in it, being the object of desire to an all-powerful, ruthless villain, to be their only weakness.
Mammon, Simeon and Beelzebub aren't keen on you having a hard time but they would give up everything to stay by your side and protect you. There's a certain charm in being your bodyguard and pawn, just you two against the rest of the world.
Barbatos finds this turn of events less than ideal, but seeing such confidence and a sadistic smile on your face makes him question his morals and he realises if this was real, he likely wouldn't change timelines.
Diavolo and Solomon, deprived of affection and closeness, will gladly take all of your affections, as corrupted as they are. Overall, even if this isn't the ideal ending for them, they'll still eat it up skdfjskdf

Solomon and MC have returned to the human world for a while. He takes this as an opportunity to be alone with them without having to worry about anyone getting in his way.
So he takes them somewhere. (Example: Amusement park, aquarium, ect)
Ohohohoho thank you for the food 😌 My brain is going brrr from Solomon brainrot all because of his damn song (you do not understand how much a good voice impacts my heart)
Solomon loves the antics with the demon bros but being in Purgatory Hall he can never spend as much time with you as he’d like. Even if demons like Lucifer have quick, easy access to the human world, Solomon is a mischievous little guy and will gladly whisk you away for some alone time in the human realm (with your consent of course) before anyone can notice. And even when they do, Solomon reassures them you’re in good care and will be back in a day or two~
There’s just something comforting and relaxing about being in the human realm with Solomon. You’re both in tune with each other and the world. It isn’t like with the demons who interrupt the pace you set by questioning or scrutinising some human realm specialty or practice. Despite his age, Solomon is pretty up to date with what’s going up in the world above. He no longer marvels at the heavy machinery at an amusement park, the bustling artificial noises of the urban landscape, or how the city seemingly lights up at night. He just accepts it, there’s normalcy and familiarity no matter how much the earth has changed. The time you two spend is mundane, just walking around the streets, likely visiting a quaint, little cafe to rest up. He may be an immortal sorcerer, you may be his incredibly powerful apprentice, but here, under the blue sky, you two are just humans basking in each other’s presence.

I knew it! Solomon's song is SO good. I was blown away.
I adore this guy. I don't think he's shady at all. I think he's outlived every person he got close to and it slowly made him close himself off because of heartbreak. and the only beings he can really stay with aren't human and he can't entirely relate to them.
I think he's a little shy, a little awkward, a bit reserved, but in no way is he malicious. Mischievous at times but thousands of years of life have probably skewed his sense of morality a bit. Normal people get caught up on things he probably struggles to see as a big deal.
Mostly though I think he's a sweetheart. I think he feels a sense of duty to mc at first but it grows into love naturally over time in a way that feels so much more genuine to me than the demons going from "I hate you" to "I love you" in 2 seconds. Solomon is one of faves. Top tier man right there.
Mmmm I hear you Min-Rei!! Tbh Im still only on Lesson 30 or so after months so this really do be a slow burn with Solomon skdjskdk
I also agree that Solomon isn’t that shady (I just mindlessly agreed at first because Simeon said so and I was down bad 😔) and a lot of his oddities are just his brain going brrrr after being alive for so long. I also think his sometimes ambiguous answers are a form of protection in and of itself, sometimes knowledge is more dangerous and counterintuitive than people realise so that knowledge is a burden for him to bear.
I am also a big fan of the shy/awkward Solomon agenda. I certainly think Solomon is suave in his own way, especially when it comes to his areas of expertise which is where I've largely seen him in Lessons. He’s an excellent and articulate teacher whose knowledge gives him a confidence impossible to beat when it comes to spells and potions. But when it comes to small talk? Just getting to know you?? Just trying to spend some time he desperately wants with you??? Perhaps his age is catching up to him because he can’t think at all. His voice is always soft but with you it’s timid. He doesn’t know what to say. He knows where he wants to be with you, he wants to be the one you can trust, the one you love, but he has no idea how to get there and its such an unfamiliar feeling. He’s not stuttering but he’s repeating words, quickly backtracking when you don’t look satisfied, keeping things ambiguous so that you’ll hopefully take the lead.
ANYWAYS I’m rambling but yes everyone who reads this join the Solomon rabbit hole with me because I won’t be coming out of it for at least a few days :DDD

Okay so we've agreed Solomon is likely a little insecure about his relationship with you given you're surrounded by so many "superior" love interests, so why not play into that? Likely from another careless classmate, you're hit with a love spell or potion, leaving you acting head over heels for the sorcerer. For at least a day, Solomon has to spend the day with you latching onto his arm and nuzzling his shoulder, there's a few times you try to kiss him but for your own sake he stops you. He's tempted to just wait the potion out instead of creating an antidote, having you proudly proclaim your love for him was a dream come true. But it only made him hurt more. This was the potion speaking, not you. You didn't love him, you weren't even in the right frame of mind. He hated how you weren't doing this out of your own volition. He hated how he didn't want this to end.
When the potion eventually wears off, you greet him at Purgatory Hall, avoiding his gaze out of sheer embarrassment. His heart tightens. After getting a taste of your affection, he wants more but that could never possibly be the case. As you start to ramble he wants to tell you that there's nothing to apologise for. If anything, he should apologise for indulging in the last few days so much.
So imagine his surprise when you ask to make it up to him with a confession. It seems the potion was more genuine than Solomon initially thought, causing the drinker to unabashedly pursue whoever they already love. You could barely get the word 'date' out before Solomon was already agreeing, a wonderful new stage of your relationship starting~

KO HELP WHY WOULD YOU DO THAT but also if I could be down bad for a sec there's something about Baizhu changing eye colours that hurts my heart in such a good way. I think it's 'cause eyes are meant to be the most distinct and constant aspects of a character, knowing and seeing that his eyes are different is a symbol of irreversible change, for better or for worse. Like- every time I think about it my stomach just drops a lil, I can't exactly place why.
BEING DRAMATIC ASIDE, MOTHZU I LOVE IT. It's giving "would you still love me if I was a worm moth" sdkfjskfsdjf. BUT ALSO MY OLD FICS GOOD GRIEF NO I'M GONNA CRINGE SO HARD 😭😭 but also my rate of releasing writing is atrocious... I shall try to come up with more pieces to fuel you 😌
