You’ll think about the press of Tatiana’s mouth to yours, her long nails clawing at your cheek; how you're still not sure if it was pleasure or poison. Forgiveness or punishment. Either way, it makes you feel sick.
You’ll know you should be focusing on holy things. Tatiana is not holy, you don't believe - but far be it from you to determine what the Elements bless and what they do not.
With your knees still pressed to the hard floor, thighs wedged against the wooden bottom of the prie-dieu, you'll try to drag your thoughts back to the saints, to the gods, but then her face will appear behind the press of your eyelids. Rose. Roza. You'll feel nauseated all over again. For that wanton kiss with Tatiana. For what came before. You don’t even know - yet - that Tatiana was the one who called for ‘live fire', or about Sonya Karp, or all the other terrible things Tatiana Vogul has done in her pursuit of the throne. She was just a woman who knew you could never love her, who perhaps shared and understood some of your pain. And maybe, for just a heartbeat, she could have helped you forget about her.
But it’s never that easy.
When Tatiana approached you in the church, speaking of kindred spirits, of faith, of Alexi, you’d felt vulnerable. Here was one of the most powerful Moroi in the dominion telling you she admired your faith. You didn’t have the heart to tell her that it wasn’t faith that left you anchored at the alter for three days after Alexi’s death; it was fear and loss. They were paralyzing. It felt like a moment of weakness - not strength. The saints had not helped you this time.
But bringing up Alexi reminded you of duty, of they come first, so when she asked, you’d agreed to be her proxy. This wasn’t personal, or about politics - it was an obligation.
Then she happened. Rose. Like she always does, bending the world around her to do her bidding. Rose is always a problem without an answer. When she steps into a room she sucks all the space out of it; when she’s near you she pulls all the air from your lungs. It’s just how she is, a vortex of passion and power. She’d fought in the ring like she always does - a dancer flirting with danger. Weightless and elegant and deadly. So beautiful, it hurts you. And oh, how she hurt you.
You’re not a self-hating man - you made peace with your demons long ago. But tonight, as you watched Rose fly across the ring, you felt them clawing at your chest, the taste of your blood thick and cloying in your mouth. In that moment, you felt the terrible, paralyzing fear you’d felt after you'd beaten your father. In the church after Alexi’s death. In the moments after you hesitated to help Princess Vasilisa. That crack in your chassis, in your perfectly calibrated control. Rose had penetrated that, because of course she did - she threatens it every time she’s with you - and you’d snapped.
At that moment, you hated yourself.
Her kick to your face felt like some kind of penance. You thought you deserved everything that came to you after that - like some kind of martyr. In retrospect, you could include the kiss in that. Even if you don't know everything yet, you still knew Rose was right when she said that Tatiana Vogul stands for everything that’s terrible in your world. She is the poison chalice you chose to drink from anyway. Alexi would turn in his grave if he knew. Yet here you still are, resigned to your duty, to your faith, to the crumbs that you’re offered from the tables of people like Tatiana Vogul.
But, you'll wonder as you press your thumbs against the bridge of your nose, do you still even have those? The moment Rose Hathaway ran through the Academy’s gardens and into your life, as you wrestled her to the ground next to Princess Vasilisa’s car, you were lost. Or perhaps it was before then - perhaps it started with Alexi’s death. From that small amount of kindling, Rose became the fuel, and Caroni was the spark.
Or maybe it’s just been you all along. You're your own undoing. You untied the knot tethering yourself to the dock that is your faith, and now you’re unmoored, floating in an endless nothing. If you can’t be loyal to your duty as a Dhampir, to the saints and their gods, what do you have left? Who are you anymore?
All you know is that Rose terrifies you as much as the thought of freedom does, but despite that, you love her. Oh, how you love her.
You know you’ll probably go back to Tatiana anyway, even if it makes you feel sick, seeking some kind of repententence in regret and the kiss of a woman who you’ll never have and who’ll never have you. Because being with her makes you feel like you can still somehow anchor yourself to your duty. Because going back to her is probably what you deserve. Because going back to her will be easy, even if it isn’t right.
You'll shift your weight and feel the metal of your stake dig into your hip. They come first. Yet here you'll be, wallowing in self pity.

Also, I genuinely want y'all to look at the quality of these hairs that are being paywalled. I'm not trying to be mean, but I've noticed a low quality in their meshes and textures for some time now, and I want to point some of them out that are visible in the preview pictures so that y'all can clock this in the future (hopefully before paying).
Some of the issues I see are very stretched meshes leading to muddied textures, obvious but easily fixable clipping, bulky and sloppily scaled mesh parts, and lazily duplicated mesh parts (that not only look identical across the hair, but can add a lot to the poly count). And if this is all visible in the preview, it is 100% guaranteed to look worse in game. I also know this because there's only so many black EA hairs that you can frankenmesh, so I've worked with all of these same meshes/textures at one point or another. They are visibly very stretched, and there is no excuse for them to look like this and be paywalled.
I used to use josheoh's hairs in the brief period of time that they were a free creator, and I stopped downloading due to these quality issues. If they were still free, I wouldn't even mention it. But these are paywalled black hairs, during black history month, that were evidently not put together with much care at all. The only thing I can think of is that it was a quickly made cash grab, and that's extremely disappointing. Unless the quality is unintentional and they're just bad at cc making, but even then, well... the whole paywalling thing is pretty distasteful on its own. Please do better!
Edit: I just want to add to this post, that I know they do commissions. Based on the consistent quality issues I've noticed from them for the entire time they've been posting cc without any noticeable improvement, I do not recommend commissioning them. Please be careful with your money and look elsewhere.

i am making this post because all my life i have been told my dandruff was my fault for not washing my hair correctly and shamed for having "poor hygiene" as a result - this is probably where the bfrbs started tbh.
SO. There are two main types of dandruff!
Dry scalp flakes: these are white and itty bitty! you can probably solve this with a good hair and skincare routine. HOWEVER unless they are bothering you it is absolutely not necessary for any kind of health reason (afaik! disclaimer! i am not a doctor! this is not actionable medical advice nor should you take me anywhere near as seriously as a dermatologist). IS NOT CAUSED BY POOR HYGIENE.
Fungal dandruff: Bigger, yellowish, possibly oily/greasy flakes! Caused by your genetics going Oops All Yeast! Generally requires a prescription antifungal treatment from a dermatologist! ALSO NOT CAUSED BY POOR HYGIENE.
Either way, if you have dandruff, a dermatologist is the one you want to consult if it's bothering you! and frankly, even if it was a hygiene issue, nobody deserves to be shamed for that!!!!! especially considering that there are plenty of people who struggle to shower regularly due to circumstances beyond their control!
AND FOR CHRIST'S SAKE STOP SHAMING PEOPLE WITH DANDRUFF!!!!

Someday I will write 90s Amerus fic. That day isn’t now (biggest writing block rn), but someday. Many of the 90s fics in the English fandom are too incorrect in my opinion when it comes to historical contexts — and I know why, but it is 😄 grating
#russian and american/western perspectives are divided on the 90s#and my sources are russian bc duh theyre also the biggest losers in the 90s. so ofc I study them#i find western perspectives abt the 90s to be rly underwhelming#which. well. they didnt go thru the pains personally. so maybe#but for vanya it was downright traumatizing ptsd worthy#ptsd mine#many many thoughts abt this#such as: no vanya wasnt SAD per se abt ussr dissolving. he lit had a hand in this via Yeltsin#idk i hate it when vanya is only narrowed down to a communist and nothing else#gorbachev lit adopted democratic-ish measures nearing the fall of ussr#vanya was rather open to the whole idea bruh. he embraced independence as a federation#he wasnt happy kicking giggling abt it but he embraced the change. ussr also feel much less chaotically than the empire (revolution)#so he wasnt just… some proud power hungry commie mourning lost power#didnt say that side is absent completely but it is more nuanced than that yknow#also RF prob thought things would stay the sameish power wise just that it is no longer commie (gross oversimplification just for this post)#but most ppl lack nuance in thinking 😄#kinda giving the vibe of just ‘ussr/russia loser america winner’#not even founded in reality#also Yeltsin was America’s bitch but I can see this isnt a popular opinion in the other side#heyyy Vanya understood what Alfred was doing and was in a way compliant

My favorite thing about the Sunny and Leo egg beef is that it’s so fucking real. We’ve all had that one kid that our parents or siblings expect us to be besties with but just didn’t care for them at best and couldn’t stand them at worst. Or a time when our parents’ friends are over and they brought their kid so we have to play together even though they’re unbearable. Or even a classmate that simply annoyed us by existing that we’re forced to invite because of our parents.
These definitely aren’t the kindest or the most emotional mature of thoughts but it’s the truth, especially for young child. And as someone who was once a confident, bossy, self-proclaimed princess themself, some kids were definitely off put by my presence. However, I’d say that more people annoying the fuck out of me in comparison.

#bg3#bg3 mods#fandom critical(?)#modder critical#when i started seeing these i tried to give people the benefit of the doubt#because i remember when i was in my late teens and early 20s the concept of being past my 30s/40s/etc felt so far away#and therefore people in those other age ranges seemed to exist in a different world from mine with different life experiences#and back then i would have created ocs that felt and looked as young as i was#and maybe would have felt uneasy romancing a character who seemed to have a large age gap with my oc since that's not my personal preferenc#and maybe SOME of the modders doing this are young and have similar reasons?#so i Sorta. Kinda. understand that thought process.#but i'm skeptical and would bet most of them are actually just adults who cannot handle age. period.#not to mention we're at the point where mods try to de-age npcs for no reason or straight-up ''''yassify'''' companions#or deprive them of their unique physical traits#and that's just. so frustrating and borderline gross.#let the characters in this game exist as they are. they have LIVED and they look like it!!!! that is good and their world is richer for it!#btw i'm talking about age and cosmetic changes exclusively. i'm not even including the racist whitewashing mods in this discussion because#those can go fuck themselves and i hope it goes without saying they deserve no benefit of the doubt. like zero#anyway. rant over for now#auri rambles
