DANCING WITH YOU UNDER THE MOONLIGHT 🌙 (SNOWDROP FANFICTION ONE SHOT)

On a Spring Day in 1987, when all of us were busy as College Students, I never knew that one day, after a cold freezing long night in Winter my life turns upside down when I fell in love with Lim Soo-ho and an unforgettable love I've been wishing for or envied for every Valentine's day happened; an intelligent, good-looking with refreshing smile young man was finally in front of me. He may look untouchable, but I never knew there will be a time that I can hold him in my arms until our last moments. Those moments I wish I could go back and some moments I wish it was different.

"Which University will you be in now?" My co-professor asked me as I am packing all my things into the faculty.

"Hosu Women's University," I answered with a bitter smile on my face. It's been the first time since I'm going to step out of this University in Incheon.

I was stuck in teaching like it became my prison and the only thing I've been doing in my life was my job at University and being alone in my apartment. Start then repeat, just keep on playing back--a never-ending cycle until I felt cold-blooded. I never knew this would be so hard.

After I collected all my things and put them in boxes, I decided to get in my car. I look at myself in the mirror and started to see my wrinkly eyes that have been so tired these days, plus do I ever tell you? It's been 20 years have passed and it's 2007 already.

On a long way drive, I started to look at the surrounding area, everything drastically changes from what they were before and each street I passed by came to be a recollection of something-something nostalgic, more likely happy days or depressing days.

I halted my car exactly near Rome Café, which amazingly still has the same name after two decades. I grabbed my shoulder bag and closed the door of my car before I moved in a different route. I took a deep breath and opened the door of Evergreen Bookstore. I clasped the cassette tape in my hands and walk toward the Music Room. Luckily, I had a chance to spend my time alone as my hands are in shivered while putting the tape on the radio. Rewind and move backward--let's go back from the start.

"Young-Ro..." I heard his gentle voice and this time my tears are falling down my cheeks, that's why I decided to close my eyes, "It's been 20 years," I mumbled and started to sob a little louder.

I heard gunshots in my head, a deafening scream, and blood on my shirt as I am holding you in my arms. I held my chest trying not to remember what happened but a sudden light shifted in my head and the image became so clear--your smile, your beautiful face, and your wonderful voice. It won't stop playing back and forth in my mind.

"I wish you were here," I whispered as the tape keeps on playing, "If this is a nightmare just wake me up," I whispered again and my tears won't stop falling.

"Lim Soo-ho," I mumbled until I slowly open my eyes. The sunlight started to be almost blinding and I can't look directly—everything seems unclear.

Hey? What's happening? Why the tape suddenly changes on its own? Wait... what am I wearing right now? I look at myself more, the way I am wearing my clothes, my wavy long hair, and the classic purse on my shoulders. "Am I dreaming?" I said while pinching my cheeks suddenly someone gently patted my shoulders which makes me jump from where I am standing. My eyes get widened and started to grip the headset on my ears. I think the store owner noticed me crying and I've been here for a long time—I should apologize.

"Ahhmm...I'm sorry..." My eyes get widened more as I've seen someone familiar. My eyes almost get blinded by the lights again.

"Hey, Young-Ro... are you okay?" he asked me. Lim Soo-ho asked me. I'm dreaming, right?

"I'M DREAMING...RIGHT?" I shouted unintendedly and my tears are falling again. I noticed his face confused and he began to survey his eyes from those people peeking at us.

"Young-Ro what is happening to you?" he asked me again before he grabbed my hands toward the exit.

He surveyed me again and he started to giggle when I'm still confused while my eyes are still swollen, "Hey, Young-Ro...are you still mad at me?" he asked me before he fixed my hair that was on my face.

"I told you I was busy last week and I'm sorry about what happened when you waited for nothing," he told me and my face makes a confusing expression more overreacting.

"What?" I asked but when he was about to respond; I get panicked when I sighted a police officer holding his folder like he was finding someone.

"Hide!" I screeched and he arcs his eyebrows more, "Huh? Why should I?" he asked me and I started to hug him tightly when the officers passed by.

"Hey, Young-Ro you are confusing and scaring me, what is happening to you? We're almost dating for 7 months now and this is the first time you acted like that..."

"Date? WHAT? WE ARE DATING?" I shouted and people surrounding us laughed at me. Soo-ho's eyes rapidly move again.

Young-Ro do want to go to the hospital?" he asked me placing his palms on my forehead and I felt my cheeks warming.

"We're dating, since the day I met you... did you just pick up my pen?" Pen? It should be a paper plane why did I pick up the pen? Did Boon-Ok get his item?

"I already told you I changed my item because I've seen that odd lady peeking at us that's why I exchanges mine secretly. We even went to the park after that, we even went to watch movies... isn't it? It's just 7 months has been passed... why did you forget about it?" my eyes opened widely once again because of what he said and I slowly touched his face. I controlled my tears and began to open my mouth to ask him a question.

"Where you came from... Soo-ho," I calmly asked him and I heard him scoffed before he exhibited his smile again.

"Daebang-dong... Did I mention that already? I already told you too I studied in Berlin and now I'm taking a master's at Pyeongtaek University--that's why I'm busy last week and I know you are still mad at me," he said and smiled a little before reaching out for my hand and hold it tightly.

"Aren't we going to Amusement Park?" he happily said and my mind are still fuzzy, that's why my knees started to get weak. When I'm about to bend my knees he instantly catches me up.

"Young-ro!" he exclaimed and suddenly his wallet fall on the ground and the pigeon necklace was on my neck. My heart started to rise when I'm about to pick up his wallet and I saw our picture inside.

"Open House," I whispered, "You went to the Open House?" I asked him while my heart was beating fast.

"Of course I did, you invited me in there," he gently told me and helped me to stand up straight, "One-way ticket!" he awkwardly sang while charmingly raising his fist.

"We've danced that aren't we?" he reminded while he's chuckling and that makes me smile. As my head was still down he carefully raises my head with his warm hands, "You sure you're okay?" he assured me and I just nodded my head to answer.

"We're going to be late," he said and held my hand before we decided to walk without hesitations on this street. I don't want to ask anymore what is happening and if this is a dream, I'm going to make this all worth it—all I care about right now is finally I am here with you.

We finally step into the Amusement park and he happily runs while he is holding my hand. I'm so happy to see Soo-ho like this, with his smile, his gentle eyes, and his handsome features. I'm so happy that they are all mine. We walk through the valleys of this place, the sweet smell and taste from the stall we were stopping by stamped on my head, especially, the sound of his laugh, his scent, and the warmth of his shoulders I am holding all this time. "If this is a dream please don't wake me up," I whispered and the night seems approaching. My chest started to get lighter and I can't help to feel anxious.

After a while, as the night became deeper, he brought out something beneath his cream-colored blazer and I saw a cassette tape along with a cassette player on it.

"Shall we dance?" he offered me before standing up in front of me. He places the headset on my ears and I slowly stand up while holding his hand. I heard the intro from the cassette and the acoustic song started to get louder in my ears.

He keeps me closer to him while he is caressing my waist. My hands are gently on his shoulders before I embrace the back of his neck. He slowly put the headset on my neck and he smiled as the moonlight shone upon us.

"If this is only a dream, I'd wish I never woke up because reality will be meaningless without you,"

He gently said to me and my tears finally fell from my eyes but before I could say anything else; he suddenly pulled me closer and closer—then I could feel the warmth on his lips and my heart started to rise in my chest. I began to feel that my heart is aching so badly.

"Eun Young-Ro...I love you,"I heard his voice again and I hastily open my eyes when the cassette tape stops.

There was a moment of silence before I heard the tape click loudly. My hands were shaking and I noticed two rings on my index finger. But when I'm about to raise my head I glimpse someone sitting in front of me—I just realized that I am sitting at Rome Café. When the sunlight became serene I finally saw him as he is building the tower of matches. I smiled gently as I saw his face, "Are you okay now?" he asked me and offered me to drink a cup of hot coffee.

"Take a sip, it will erase all bad memories," he said before he smiled gently.

I saw him looking at me while the smoke of steaming coffee came to my face and when I took a sip of it I heard him laugh a little.

"Let's go home? Kids are waiting for us," he reminded me and I just nodded my head. He lends his hands and I quickly take it before he mends his guitar on his shoulder.

"Eun Young-Ro...I love you," he said to me and that makes me stop walking while letting go of his hand. As I can see his back, he slowly glances in my direction and we gently smile at each other.

"Come walk with me," he sweetly offered his hand again and we walked together.

I never hesitate to accept it again and then the music became louder in my ears again. Rewind and move backward——let's go back from the start.
