I HAVE A THEORY: These two are THE SAME INDIVIDUALS IN DIFFERENT DIMENSIONS.

Essentially the universes would be the Warner Bros. Universe and the Disney Universe.

Facts:

NAME: Mr. Krabs- Eugene Harold Krabs; Flynn Rider-Eugene Fitzgerald (which proves I'm never wrong about disney) .

INTRODUCED MOTIVE: Desperate for money and will go any length to gain it (for whatever personal reasons) .

CANON EVENT: Being humbled after a traumatic experience of almost dying/losing a loved one, who happened to be the strong females in their life (Krabs with Pearl if you don't get the reference).

P.S. I think Krabs might have caused a nexus event which resulted in sponge out of the water because Krabs went back to hogging money although he realised emotions are more important in life.

Fact: Harold and Margaret are both designed as rounded sea sponges. Unlike SpongeBob, who is squared tube sea sponge, they're squared off tube sea sponges. Although both SpongeBob and his parents are modeled after real-life species of sea sponges, their markedly different appearances have not been explained.

The decision to have SpongeBob's parents resemble round sea sponges was a reference to SpongeBob's original design.
