Measuring 50 feet tall, the treehouses are made from locally harvested bamboo, in addition to nearly 20 varieties of reclaimed, 500-year-old hardwoods. The latter was sourced from the forests that were flooded during the construction of the Panama Canal.

You've never seen buildings like this. The stunning bamboo homes built by Elora Hardy and her team in Bali twist, curve and surprise at every turn. They defy convention because the bamboo itself is so enigmatic. No two poles of bamboo are alike, so every home, bridge and bathroom is exquisitely unique. In this beautiful, immersive talk, she shares the potential of bamboo, as both a sustainable resource and a spark for the imagination. "We have had to invent our own rules," she says.

The 4 times Ben Hardy tries to tell you he loves you, and the 1 time that he does.
Summary: Quite obvious what it’s about by the name of it, but Ben tries so damn hard to tell you he loves you. Which it ends up happening, but not how he plans.
Warnings: Pure fluff! I think a swear word or two? Bad grammar and spelling
A/N: I have read a few similar to this, but I haven’t seen any with Ben. If I’m wrong and you have written/read any like this with Ben, please send me a link I would love to read them!! I can’t find the one that I was inspired to write this (It was a Brian May one), if I do find it I will tag them!
One
Your sitting in Ben’s trailer, during his break for a movie he was working on. You did this quite often. Visiting your best friend on set to keep him company, also just to see him at any chance you could.
“How much longer till you need to head back?” You ask mouth full of fries.
Ben checks the time and reply’s back “I still have ten minutes, why?”
“Just wondering how much time I have to put up with you” You laugh trying to push his buttons.
Oh her laugh, Ben thought. He could listen to her laugh all day. It was like music to his ears.
Ben had been in love with his best friend for months now. Realising this when her heart was broken by an ex boyfriend, who she then came to Ben for comfort. Knowing since then that he never wanted to see her hurt ever again and that he wanted to be more than friends.
Just jump straight to it he thought.
“(Y/N), we have been friends, best friends..” Ben corrects himself before you can tell him off for not using the word ‘best’. “...for awhile now. I don’t want to ruin our friendship so just forget about it if you say no”
“Ben your scaring me, what did you do? Better yet what do I need to do?” Knowing Ben so well, he most likely set you up with a friend of his before telling you about it now. Because it has happened before.
“Will you go out on a date with me? Not just a friends get together lunch date in my trailer. Like a real romantic, restaurant date where we dress up and I drop you home before possibly giving you a goodnight kiss” Ben pours his heart out talking so fast not knowing if he had even taken a breath.
You sit there in shock, mouth slightly opened. You weren’t sure where this was all coming from, but glad that it was happening since you have been wanting to go past of being friends with Ben for awhile now.
“I would..” before you could answer there was a knock and the door opened.
“Ben we need you back instantly” One of the assistance states before talking to someone on the head set saying that she was bringing Ben back now.
Ben’s almost out the door when you call back. “I would really like to go on that date with you Ben”
Ben spins around the biggest smile you had ever seen as rushes over and takes your hands. “This is great! Because I have been in..” Ben cuts himself off before dropping the ‘L’ word. Wait, he thought. The right time will come. The perfect one.
Two
“How is everything going in here?” Ben asks lightly bumping his arm to your shoulder.
“Yeah I think it’s alright, we were missing some ingredients. So I had to substitute” furrowing your eyebrows as you concentrate on the recipe.
She looks so cute pulling that face. Well any face she pulls she makes is really cute. I kiss her cheek and she looks up at me. “What was that for?” She smiles.
“Because you’re adorable, and so damn kissable” Ben replies tucking hair behind your ear.
“You’re so sweet, and your right I am kissable” You laugh wrapping your arms around Ben’s neck kissing his cheek back.
“Could you get the ice out and put it in the ice bucket for the champagne?” Ben nods grabbing the silver bucket and turns to the freezer.
“Hey (Y/N), there has been something I have been meaning to tell you” you hum in response for him to continue as you stir the dinner in the pot.
“Well for a while now I have been thinking about this..” You turn to face him as he slowly walks back towards you.
It’s now, I’m telling her I love her. No turning back.
“I..” Ben trips over his own feet spilling the ice everywhere. You run over to him to see if he was alright, but you end up being the one slipping on the ice landing wrong on your ankle as you fall to the ground. Letting out an excruciating yell.
“Shit!” Ben jumps over the ice, picking you up bridal style and placing you up on the bench.
He touched the back of your ankle as you wince in pain. Shock in your eyes he snapped his hand away. “I think I broke my ankle”
Turning everything off for the food, Ben takes you straight to the hospital, where you find out that you had indeed broken it. What a way to spend a one month anniversary.
Three
“What movie do you want to watch?” You ask flicking through Netflix. The two of you sitting side by side on the couch in your apartment.
“Anything you want” Ben replies stretching his arm over your shoulder and you fling your legs over his thighs.
“You say that all the time, and you end up groaning at the chick flick I put on. So you pick” You shove the remote to his chest as he then searches for a movie.
He finally picks one for you to watch and you get up to turn all the lights off, coming back over to Ben getting into the same position you two were in before.
Through out the movie he keeps glancing behind him to your roommates room, to you then back to the movie.
“Is Elora out for the evening?” Ben whispers. “No she’s in there, her boyfriend is as well” You reply back, eyes glued to the TV.
****
“Well that wasn’t so bad, maybe you should pick the movie more often” The movie was now over. Just the light of the TV giving a light glow to the room. You wrap your arms around Ben’s neck, knees on either side of his thighs. Pressing your forehead to his, as he places his hands on your hips. He glances down to your lips for a quick second then back to your eyes.
You brush lightly against his lips as you feel him deepen the kiss a little. Breaking away Ben whispers “(Y/N), I lo...” but he was cut off by moans and a few “Yes” coming from the bedroom. Both you and Ben swing your heads to your roommates bedroom. You cover your mouth trying not to laugh.
“Want to come back to my place?” Ben smiles as you instantly nod your head jumping from Ben’s lap rushing for the door.
Four
“Three weeks is going to be too long” you whine holding Ben close to you. His arms wrapped around your body with his chin resting on the top of your head.
“It will fly by I promise” Ben soothes, kissing the top of your head.
“Maybe I could come see you, fly out on a Friday evening then be back here on Sunday late afternoon to get back to work.” You suggest getting excited already with the thought of coming to see him.
“Even you know that’s ridiculous, but I like the way your mind works” Ben laughs squeezing you tighter.
Once you heard Ben’s flight called for boarding you gasp and look around as people head towards the gate.
“It’s time for me to go” Ben tilts your head up with his index finger pushing your chin up.
This is it, he thought. If she didn’t say it back at least he was leaving for awhile and didn’t have to face the embarrassment.
“I’ll miss you and just know that I..”
“Ben come on, we’re going to miss our flight” It’s Gwilym tapping his shoulder desperately waving him over to get on the plane.
And the moment was gone.
“See you in three weeks” Ben kisses you and walks off to board the plane giving his friend a death glare.
“What? What did I do!?”
Five
Pulling your suit case behind you after getting out of the taxi which had taken you to the hotel. Ben had told you it was a ridiculous idea, but it had been two weeks. You needed to see him and surprising him was the best way to do so.
Gwilym, who was in on the surprise, met you in the lobby giving you the number to Ben’s room.
“Thank you so much, he doesn’t suspect a thing does he?” You question trying to see in his eyes if he was lying.
“No he knows nothing, he has been up there sulking and clutching a photo of you for dear life!” You roll your eyes at Gwilym as he laughs. “Ok there’s no photo, but he has been lost without you”
***
You press for Ben’s floor, it then felt like you were in this elevator for hours. You weren’t sure if it was the idea of being so close to seeing Ben, or the god awful music that they had playing wanting you to get out.
Finally the doors open and you count down the numbers of rooms finally reaching Ben’s. You knock a few times and waited.
A few seconds later the door opens and Ben looks shocked seeing you there, then the biggest smile you had ever seen spreads across his face.
“Your crazy! You actually came!” Ben stepped forward wrapping his arms around you as you do the same. He twirls you around before setting you down on your feet, grabbing your face with his hands. Looking you up and down, trying to fully take in that you were right there with him and that this was not a dream.
Forcefully smashing his lips to yours, causing you to stumble back a little. The kiss turns sweet real quick, melting at his touch.
“You’re actually here!” Ben still couldn’t believe that you were here, squeezing tight on your hand he drags you in the room, pulling your suit case behind.
“Well I missed you so much. So I got a ticket, jumped on a plane and here I am with you. I couldn’t wait any longer to see you because I love you so much!” Ben stops in his tracks and quickly spun to face you.
“Wait.. What did you just say?” Ben tilts his head slightly to the side trying to make sure he heard you correctly.
“I love you Ben” You smile taking both of his hands in yours.
“I have been trying to tell you that for months now, and you just come right out and say it so easily” Ben groans throwing his head back in frustration.
You brush the palm of your hand to his cheek as he looks back at you with those damn gorgeous green eyes that you could stare into for hours.
“I know you have, I have been dying for you to say it. I guess I couldn’t wait for you to say it any longer” You let out a little laugh remembering all the times he attempted to confess his love for you.
“You knew!? I can’t believe I had all this trouble to tell you” Ben was smiling like an idiot. She loves me, she actually loves me!
“Well..? Are you going to say it back or am I having to wait a few more months?” You grin rubbing your thumb against his cheek.
He grabs your hand from his cheek and lingers a kisses to your palm.
He bites down a little on his lip with a cheeky grin, realising now that he was finally getting his moment.
“I love you too”

I also looked at the next episode which features Sharma Springs created by Elora Hardy, a Bali resident who lived in New York for a short while, who wanted to explore the properties of Bamboo (a quick regenerating natural material that has amazing strength and is relatively inexpensive to grow). Hardy worked for a short time as a fashion designer and rejected the wasteful nature of the sartorial industry, so she went back to bali and started working on Sharma Springs.
The concept was that the interior would have any of the harsh lines commonplace in traditional architecture, so she made a conscious effort to include all organic shapes in the construction.

Ibuku completes "unprecedented" bamboo building in the Balinese jungle
Architecture studio Ibuku has completed The Arc gymnasium for a private school in Bali featuring a complex double-curved roof made entirely from bamboo.
The Arc is the latest building to be completed on the site of the Green School – a private educational institution that promotes sustainability through learning in a natural environment.
Top: The Ark is made from bamboo. Above: it is surrounded by a forest
The building was designed by Green School founders John and Cynthia Hardy's daughter Elora Hardy and her studio Ibuku in collaboration with bamboo architect Jörg Stamm and structural engineering firm Atelier One.
It forms a protective roof sheltering a multipurpose sports court with a floor area of 760 square metres.
The undulating canopy covers a sports pitch
The lightweight structure features bamboo arches that support an organically shaped canopy. The 14-metre-high arches are connected by anticlastic gridshells that curve in two directions to create a robust, tensioned structure.
"The concepted structure for The Arc is totally unprecedented," claimed Ibuku project architect Rowland Sauls.
"Embarking on a design never before executed required some bravery and optimism. We were creative and stubborn enough to research and develop the answers needed for the success of the project."
The organically shaped roof was made from bamboo
The building's organic form and structural system were informed by natural systems, in particular the way our ribcages are held in place by the tension from an outer layer of muscle and skin.
"The Arc operates like the ribs of a mammal's chest," explained Stamm, "stabilised by tensile membranes analogous to tendons and muscles between ribs."
"Biologically, these highly tensile microscopic tendons transfer forces from bone to bone," he continued.
"In The Arc, bamboo splits transfer forces from arch to arch."
The arched interior that echoes the shape of a mammals rib cage
Several months of research and development led to the creation of a precise geometrical solution that allowed the structure to enclose a large inner volume with a minimal amount of material.
"The gridshells use shape stiffness to form the roof enclosure and provide buckling resistance to the parabolic arches," said Atelier One director, Neil Thomas.
"The two systems together create a unique and highly efficient structure," he added, "able to flex under load allowing the structure to redistribute weight, easing localised forces on the arches."
Floor space is column-free
The arches supporting the pavilion's roof span 19 metres and allow for a large floor area that is uninterrupted by supporting columns.
Spaces around the base of the canopy allow breezes to flow through, providing natural ventilation. Vents at the roof's apex also allow warm air to escape.
Air can circulate through its openings
The Green School has been constructing bamboo buildings at its campus in Bali, Indonesia, since it was founded in 2008. The school now also operates campuses in New Zealand, South Africa and Mexico.
All of the buildings at the jungle site in Bali's Badung regency are designed to be energy efficient and constructed using natural materials wherever possible.
John Hardy and Jörg Stamm worked together with designer Aldo Landwehr to create the initial buildings and infrastructure including bridges and a spiralling three-storey building housing the high school and administrative areas.
It is anchored to the ground
Bamboo was also used by Chinese firm LLLab to create an undulating riverside canopy on the site of a popular light show, while Ruta 4 also constructed a clothing factory in rural Colombia from bamboo.
Photography is by Tommaso Riva.

Trent Dougherty
I think in every context sustainability should be the future of design. There is only so much of the planet that we have to occupy, only so many resources that we have to use for things.  So by designing things with this in mind right off the bat, we are extending those resources, and therefore our time and place on earth in a more positive trend.  It reminds me of this other documentary I watched about a woman named Elora Hardy who founded the company called Ibuku.  She was a fashion designer, worked with several big companies for years, but she decided to go back to Bali where she grew up and noticed the housing problem.  So she decided to build these beautiful houses and structures out of mostly bamboo, which was thought to be a hard to use unattractive material, yet is incredibly sustainable for the environment.
Trent mentions how back when environmental laws were being made, that they were designed with the intention that communities would be involved in them.  I think this is an incredibly important point to make.  While one can mention how most of the environmental problems are caused by large companies, having communities come together to do their part can also hold an impact as well.  Whether that's just having their voices heard through appealing permits or just talking about the concerns about a new facility that was put in, by working together more voices are heard.
