New Horror 2022 - Day 19
Tumblr media
"The Aztec" by Carmen Baca (2020) "That's when he knew the pile was not just clothes."
Oh this was great. It’s sitting in the backseat while the villain has the wheel. It goes south of course, but the journey there is tops.

"Winnebago Graveyard #1" by Steve Niles, Stephanie Paitreau, Jordie Bellaire, Jen Bartel, Alison Sampson, Aditya Bidikar, Mingjue Helen Chen, Sarah Horrocks (2017) "Where are the people?"
Ooh good setup here. I’ll return to finish this series for sure. I hope the big bad they introduce here gets a real powerful comeuppance, though it does feel like a setup for torturing some protagonists. Bonus points for a creepy carnival setting.

Eko Eko Azarak: Wizard of Darkness dir. Shimako Satō (1995) "I wanted to introduce you to Lucifer."
It’s cool to see a movie like this in the mid 90s when American horror was getting more self-aware and cynical. This is a sincere story about realized Satanic panic, with an appropriately anime-styled structure. Some weird softcore scenes between students and abusive teachers were shocking but it’s seemingly the kind of standard stuff kids in Japan are reading in manga.

A most joyus and rapturous Hexennacht to you all Witches!!!
Tumblr media
some flying charms: Dance about in a frenzy chanting these faster and faster until you just can't anymore, and you fall down (try to land on something soft) and this will help you fly. If movement is difficult, chant first silently to yourself. Steadily get louder and faster.
1)"horse and hattock, horse and go, horse and pellatis, ho, ho.’
2) "Eko! Eko! Azarak! Eko! Eko! Zomelak! Zod-ru-koz e Zod-ru-koo Zod-ru-goz e Goo-ru-moo! Eko! Eko! Hoo…Hoo…Hoo"
or
"Eko Eko Azarak Eko Eko Zomelak Zod ru koz e zod ru koo Zod ru goz e goo ru moo Eeo Eeo hoo hoo hoo!"
If you know you are feuding with a competent Witch and you wish to protect yourself during the Witches Flight. Hang herbs like Cowslip, St.johns wort , Garlic bulbs, Mugwort etc.

Rose and Dave Rescratched design: take 2! Rescratched is an imaginary Homestuck Reboot where I try to imagine what a hypothetical reboot and updated redesign of the HS charas would look like.
Rose's design is pretty different from the one I posted last night. I did like the e-goth esque fashion, but I decided that's not the vibe I wanted from her. I wanted a more "mysterious spooky rich girl" vibe, and I'm pretty happy with how she turned out. I think, in another world, she could have been the star of one of those "mysterious girl with mysterious powers" show, like a nicer version of Tomie, or Misa from Eko Eko Azarak. Unfortunately, she has to be in homestuck instead.
As for Dave, I didn't change his design much aside from giving him a deep red hoodie since I decided I wasn't gonna limit myself to white shirts. I think in the reboot, he goes from having a blog to a youtube channel where he talks about games and movies. Jade is a big fan of his videos.

The Regimen of the Seven by J.F.C. Fuller
Seven are they! Seven are they! In the Ocean Deep – seven are they! Battening in Heaven – seven are they, Bred in the depths of Ocean.
Not male nor female are they, But as the roaming wild wind blast. No wife have they, no son can they beget; Knowing neither mercy nor pity, They hearken not to prayer or supplication, They are as horses reared among the hills ….
Evil was at least their leaguer, and evil though these forces were, they were something, something to rely on and something better than the pauperizing of thought, and, through thought, of action: they breathed freedom like a devastating storm.
In the Middle Ages of Christian rule did once again the spirit of man break the shackles which bound him, and it broke them by an alliance with Satan. Mad, if not insane, would the sorcerer creep forth to some heath or grove, far away from monastery or church, and, bereft of his senses through the gloom of those desolate places, would he shriek to the stars:
Eko! eko! Azarak. Eko! eko! Zomelak!
Zod-ru-kod e Zod-ru-koo
Zod-ru-koz e Goo-ru-moo!
Eo! Eo! Oo … Oo … Oo!
