Egon Spengler x Student!OC
Ch. 3: Unexpected
Egon Spengler x Lori Williams
~9:15pm~
With full bellies and a new sense of accomplishment, Egon and Lori stood from their table to head back to their apartments. Egon let Lori take home the remaining slices of pizza for leftovers since he had plenty of food at home and he became slightly worried by how late he had her out. The city was quite dangerous at night, especially for a young, and quite attractive, woman like herself. The tall scientist felt a pit in his stomach when he imagined Lori walking back home by herself, in the dark, when all of the creeps would come out to play.
“Miss Lori,” Egon started and Lori looked up at him and he cleared his throat slightly. “It’s quite dark out, and I don’t feel comfortable with someone as yourself walking home alone at night.” he stated and Lori grinned slightly and she let out a small laugh and nodded her head, already knowing what her professor was getting at. “Please allow me to walk you home. You’re out this late because of me and I would feel guilty if something were to happen to you.” Egon explained, pushing his glasses up the bridge of his nose as they started to slip down at bit.
Lori held onto her box of leftover pizza and she nodded at Egon, allowing him to walk her home. It definitely did make her feel better, having Dr. Spengler walk her to her apartment. She didn't dare take the subway since the creeps seemed to triple in number underground. “That would actually be really nice, thank you. I don’t dare to walk alone in this city after dark.” she said and that earned a smile from Egon. His ears started to burn up a little and he felt extremely thankful now for the darkness so Lori wouldn’t notice the redness in the tips of his ears.
Egon pushed his glasses up the bridge of his nose out of habit and he held out his arm for Lori to take. “I don’t want you to trip.” he said simply, giving her his famous deadpan expression. After a second of looking at Egon’s arm, wondering if this was appropriate or not, she decided “why not” and took it. After all, he was just being cautious and gentlemanly. He had said it himself that he just didn’t want her to trip, that’s all. Either way, Lori couldn’t stop the heat from rising to her cheeks, dusting them a lovely shade of pink. There was no denying that Dr. Spengler was quite charming.
Egon followed Lori’s lead to her apartment building and after about a twenty minute walk, they arrived at the lit up entrance. “Thank you so much for walking me home, Dr. Spengler. Are you going to be okay getting home? Do you live close by?” she asked, feeling just a little bit worried for her professor. Of course Lori was sure that Egon could handle himself just fine at night, but he was looking a bit tired from the walk. “You can come in for a drink if you want. I always have a ton of soda.” she said with a small laugh in her voice. This definitely caught the tall professor off guard, but it was more of a pleasant surprise to him. Plus, he was feeling kind of winded from that walk. This definitely made Egon consider trying out the gym at least once.
“Well, a small rest before I head back home would be beneficial,” he thought out loud, making Lori smirk and hold the door open for him to come in.
“Come on, I’m a few floors up so we’ll take the elevator.” Lori looked back at Egon as he stood there like a statue at the entrance. He cleared his throat when he broke out of his mini trance, stepping into the building and saying a soft “thank you” to Lori for holding the door open. Egon followed Lori to the elevator and they rode up together to the fourth floor. “This way,” Lori motioned for Egon to follow her down the hall a ways until they got to the door with the number 414 on it and she began to unlock it. “It’s a studio, so I apologize if you feel a little cramped. It’s all I could afford.” Lori apologized before Egon waved her off, telling her that there was no need for an apology. It wasn’t unusual for college students to be tight on cash.
“No need to apologize. I’m just surprised you can make it without a roommate at your age.” Egon said as he pulled out a chair at the small table once they were inside, sitting down in it as Lori opened the fridge. Yes, her apartment was small, but it was clean and very well organized. It was obvious that she was making the most out of the space she had. Lori grabbed Egon a can of Coke and herself a water bottle then turned around to sit across from her professor. “Thank you. This is very kind of you.” Egon thanked Lori and she just nodded and waved him off. It was no big deal at all. They probably just shouldn’t tell anyone about this though. It could get around to the other professors and Egon could get in trouble. So...was this a good idea?
The two sat in awkward silence for a moment before Egon noticed the little snake in a terrarium on a table next to her couch. Being the curious man that Egon was, he got up and walked over to the terrarium to look at the little milk snake inside. Lori noticed Egon’s interest in her pet and she grinned softly. “Oh, that’s Norman. He’s a little guy.” Lori said, standing up and walking over to the terrarium as well. Egon adjusted his glasses as he got a closer look. Norman was curled up in the little log he hid in and woke up when he felt people watching him. He yawned wide and slowly slithered out and raised his head up towards Lori then flicked his tongue at Egon.
“Lampropeltis Triangulum. Non-venomous and quite friendly.” Egon stated, smiling softly at Norman as he flicked his tongue a few more times at the tall man examining him. Lori blinked and gave a small laugh. It really was incredible how intelligent Dr. Spengler was.
“He’s very friendly, but also super shy.” Lori commented as she bent down a bit to take a look at Norman. The snake wasn’t very interested in being social at the moment because he slithered back into his log to go back to sleep. “Kinda like you, Dr. Spengler.” she giggled, making Egon blink in surprise and stand up straight, looking at her with a mixture of surprise and curiosity. Although, she was right. Egon didn’t consider himself to be a mean person in any way. He was just blunt and reserved and very awkward...and a bit shy at times as well.
“That..seems about right.” Egon cracked a smile and actually let out a small chuckle, pushing his glasses up the bridge of his nose a bit as he felt his ears heating up again like they did outside of the pizza restaurant. Except in here, Lori would be able to see it. Egon tried to hide it until he noticed the faint pink blush that rose to Lori’s cheeks. The scientist felt his heartbeat start to speed up and he could feel it thumping in his chest. He gulped softly and Lori rubbed the back of her neck and she glanced back at the terrarium, away from Egon. “Lori, I-” Egon started then stopped, like his words got caught in his throat. Lori looked up at him with wide eyes, completely unsure of what to do. She was even unsure of what was going on through Egon’s head as well, because it seemed like an awful lot. Then, without any warning, Egon leaned down and he placed his hand on her shoulder then gave Lori a quick peck on the cheek. It was so quick that Lori wondered if it happened at all, but it definitely did because she could still feel the spot on her cheek where Egon’s lips were for only a second.
Lori stood there, her mouth agape. She definitely didn’t expect that to happen, but she couldn't exactly complain. Lori felt her face heat up and she put her hands to her cheeks, stuttering. “U-uh, um..wh-I’m sorry,” Lori stuttered out, completely flustered. Egon’s eyes were wide too and his whole face was the same shade of red as Lori’s.
“O-oh! No, I’m sorry, I-” Egon gulped thickly and he looked around for a moment, trying to gather himself before he glanced back down at Lori, who was also trying to collect herself as well. He didn’t blame her for being so flustered though. “That was very inappropriate of me. I-I’m your professor, so I need to be more professio-” Egon’s flustered apology was cut off when Lori stood on her tip toes to give Egon a quick peck on the cheek as well, completely catching him off guard.
“There, now we’re even, okay?” Lori said, sounding breathless because of how her heart was just beating wildly in her chest, as was Egon’s. He just nodded his head and cleared his throat, loosening his tie a bit and tugging on the collar of his button down shirt.
“Okay, that works for me.” Egon said, giving his collar another tug as an awkward silence filled the room. “I..I should get back to my apartment. I still have papers to grade before I go to bed.” he explained. He also had to check on his rooftop fungus garden, which was very important to him.
“Right, of course. I know you’re very busy.” Lori said, anxiously pushing some curly hair out of her face and behind her right ear, making more of her face visible. Egon gulped again and he felt like he had to hold himself back from going in for another kiss, but not on her cheek. No. That was against the rules, against the law even. Lori led him to the door and she handed him his can of Coke. He still had about half of it left and was sure he wanted to finish it on his walk home.
Egon took the can and he picked his bag back up and he took a step outside of Lori’s apartment. He turned around and gazed down at her, not sure what to say. How could he know what to say? He kissed his student...on the cheek of course, but still. Then she kissed him back.
Without really thinking, Egon reached out and he gently took Lori’s hand, feeling her soft skin against his rougher skin. His hand was much bigger than hers as well. Egon gulped thickly as he felt his heart thumping hard in his chest once again, his whole body urging him to just do it. He leaned forward and placed another kiss on Lori’s cheek. This time the kiss was more passionate and he let it lips linger on Lori’s cheek for a few more seconds this time before he slowly stood up straight again, his eyes gazing down at her softly, but still with the slight shock over what he just did. Lori just gazed up at him, her expression still surprised but..softer, like she was expecting it that time.
“Dr. Spengler,” Lori whispered and she gently tugged on Egon’s arm and he leaned down a bit so Lori’s lips could reach his cheek. He smiled softly this time, his eyes closing for a moment as he felt her soft lips on his cheek. After a few seconds, she pulled away and Egon opened his eyes again. “Please be safe getting home. The city is dangerous at night.” she said softly and Egon nodded. He could handle himself fine and his apartment was probably only a ten minute walk from here, but he might take the subway since he was feeling tired.
“I’ll be safe. I know my way around the city.” Egon responded, his hand still holding hers softly. “I’ll see you in class on Monday,” he said and Lori nodded her head. She would absolutely be in class on Monday. “I..I enjoyed our investigation earlier,” Egon paused for a moment and he absentmindedly rubbed the top of Lori’s hand with his thumb. “I also enjoyed being with you here. Can we do this again..soon?” he asked hesitantly. Lori looked like she enjoyed both of the small kisses Egon gave her, but he wanted to make sure. This was all very...unexpected.
“We can,” Lori answered, making the biggest grin form on Egon’s face. “As soon as you like.”

Egon Spengler x Student!OC
Ch. 2: Ghost Hunt (part 2 of 2)
Egon Spengler x Lori Williams
(a/n: This will be taking place well over a year before Ghostbusters Inc. is established and Egon is still teaching Paranormal Studies at Columbia University in NYC. This fan fiction series will contain NSFW in some parts~)
~7:55pm~
Egon stood by the fountain and he looked at his watch a bit anxiously and looked around. No sign of Lori yet, but he knew that she would be here soon. All day long, this is what Dr. Spengler has been thinking about, testing out his PKE meter and with Lori, his favorite student. Thinking about Lori suddenly made a blush rise to Egon’s cheeks and he could feel them getting warmer and he loosened his tie a bit and cleared his throat, trying to get this thoughts on anything other than his inappropriate feelings towards his student.
“Dr. Spengler?” Egon looked up when he heard the familiar, sweet voice of Lori Williams, and she was right on time. “Sorry if I had you waiting on me, the subway I usually take was packed full so I had to wait for another one.” she explained. Lori was carrying a black tote bag and she had a Polaroid camera around her neck. Egon smiled at the sight of seeing Lori so prepared and ready for a ghost hunt; he definitely found her cute in her more casual wear with a camera around her neck, looking more than ready to hopefully capture a little part of the unknown.
Egon stood up and cleared his throat again, absentmindedly loosening his tie a little more. “I’ve only been here for about three minutes or so, you’re fine.” he started, giving her a little smile before he motioned for Lori to follow him to the doors of the large building. He pulled out a small set of keys and had to try a few before finally finding the right one. Lori stifled a small giggle as her professor struggled to unlock the doors and Egon looked back at her with a small smirk before opening the door for her and letting her in. From there, they went straight to the second floor art room where they would be looking for any signs of the paranormal. Egon had everything he needed already so they didn’t need to stop by his office, which was another floor up.
Lori pulled out a notebook and a pen from her bag and got her camera turned on and ready and Egon pulled out his PKE meter as well as a small tape recorder. Their plan was simple; Egon would take track the spirit with the PKE meter and when it would start going off and the sides would raise up, Lori would snap a picture of the place where the spirit supposedly was. They had a good bit of faith that this might actually work, so they got right to it. Egon found himself feeling pretty impressed with his student and how she looked so determined to “catch” this ghost.
“Okay, here we go.” Egon breathed out and he turned on the PKE meter and started to slowly walk about the large room with Lori following behind him. For the first few minutes the meter remained completely silent and Egon started to think that maybe the last time was just a fluke, a simple malfuntion with the meter. Then, when they approached a dark corner where the pottery was, the meter started to flash its lights and the prongs that were tucked into the sides slowly raised up as he got closer. Egon looked back at Lori and motioned for her to take a picture of the corner. She nodded and snapped the picture and the film came out and she set it one of the desks to wait for it to develop. While that was happening, Lori took a couple more shots of the corner as well as the other places where Egon was getting a reading, The corner, though, was where it was the strongest.
Lori and Dr. Spengler spent about an hour in there together before deciding to call it. “I think we might have got exactly what we were looking for. I didn’t get this good of a reading last time I was in here. The prongs wouldn’t even raise up like they did today,” Egon explained then looked down at Lori, who was carefully gathering the photos that she had taken before placing her camera and notebook back in her bag. The lanky man smiled and he felt his ears getting warm...for some reason, before he said, “Good job tonight, Lori.” This made Lori look up at her professor in slight surprise. Out of formality, he would call her “Ms. Lori”, but this time it was just “Lori”. It actually felt pretty nice to hear, although she still stuck to calling Egon “Dr. Spengler”.
“Thank you, Dr. Spengler. Hopefully the photos that I took will show us what we want to see. I’m excited to see how they turn out.” Lori said, smiling up at her professor before her stomach gave a loud growl of hunger, as did Egon’s. She was about to suggest giving him the photos so she could return home to make herself some dinner, but Egon spoke first.
“Let me get you something to eat as a reward for helping me out tonight,” Egon suggested, much to Lori’s surprise. “We can look over the photos together to see what we find. Does that sound alright?” he asked her. He knew that most, if not all, professors wouldn’t do this with a student, even if they had a favorite one. But, this was technically class related, and he wanted to reward Lori for helping him. Although, he could have asked Ray, but...
“I'd like that. Thank you,” Lori replied before Egon could even finish his thought about why he had chosen Lori, a student, over his best friend. This made Egon’s smile get wider though and he told her about a small pizza place close to campus. It was around 8:15pm on a weeknight, so the place should be free from the overwhelming crowd of customers as well as obnoxious tourists.
Pushing his glasses up the bridge of his nose and loosening his tie a bit, Egon motioned for Lori to follow him. Lori had surprised the tall professor once again by agreeing to look over the photos over a slice of pizza. He just hoped that none of his coworker friends, Ray or Peter, would spot him with a student. Ray wasn’t exactly the one he was worried about though, it was Peter. With Peter Venkman, it wasn’t exactly unusual to see him out and about with a particularly pretty student of his, and his goal wasn’t anything like Egon’s. Peter definitely liked to romance his dates and then wouldn’t speak to them again since he would always seem to find someone slightly prettier than the last. Egon simply saw that Lori was very interested in the paranormal and he figured that she would enjoy learning about his projects that he was working on. Although...she was rather pretty herself, and that was definitely something Egon couldn’t seem to ignore no matter how hard he tried. Knowing Peter, if he saw Lori and Egon together like this, Egon would never hear the end of it.
Egon and Lori made some small talk on their way to the small pizzeria and they were relieved that it was indeed very slow, with only one other customer eating a slice of pizza and reading the paper in a corner towards the back. “Why don’t you find us a table and I’ll order at the counter? Is pepperoni alright with you? I don’t like much else on my pizza.” Egon explained and Lori nodded her head since she was the same way.
“Sure thing,” she smiled up at him before turning to grab a table for the two of them. As Lori found a good table by a window, she felt some butterflies in her stomach out of nowhere. If this wasn't her professor, then this almost would have felt like a little date, but they were just going over photos. Although, it was very nice of Dr. Spengler to treat her for helping him test the PKE meter and for taking photos for him. There were two other Parapsychologists at the university though, so Lori wondered why her professor had picked her instead of one of his colleagues.
Lori was snapped out of her thoughts when Egon sat down across from her at the two-person table. “I ordered us a large so you can take some home with you if you want for leftovers.” he told her.
“Oh, thank you! As a student I practically live on leftovers.” Lori giggled softly and Egon let out a little chuckle. He remembered being a student as well and how leftovers would usually be the staple of his diet along with junk food like Little Debbies. Egon could never get enough of those delicious little snacks.
Lori got out the photos from her bag and placed them on the table. They were already developed and the two were shocked but pleased with how they turned out. “We..actually caught something!” she gasped and picked up the photo that she took of the corner of the art room where the PKE meter was getting the strongest readings and handed it to Egon. He took the photo and his eyes widened and he adjusted his glasses and took a closer look, just to make sure he was seeing it right.
“It looks like we found a Class 1 vapor. We saw no physical form but we caught it on camera.” Egon explained and he held it in the middle of the table so he and Lori could both examine it. “There is an obvious mist that looks to be taking the shape of a human, although I’m not sure if it was male or female...” he explained further and Lori nodded. He could tell that Lori was very intrigued by this, so he continued. “These other pictures are just orbs...or dust. It can be difficult to tell the difference sometimes, but this picture,” Egon paused, holding up the picture they had been looking at the most. “This is what we wanted. I can’t thank you enough for helping me.” Egon smiled at Lori and she felt some heat rising to her cheeks and Egon noticed. He felt his ears heat up as well as his cheeks and he really hoped that Lori didn’t notice, but she did. Egon opened his mouth to say something else but shut it quickly when one of the servers came and brought them there pizza along with a couple of plates and their drinks.
“To the art room ghost,” Lori said, holding up her cup of soda for a toast. Egon smirked and held up his cup too.
“To the art room ghost.”

Egon Spengler x Student!OC
Ch. 2: Ghost Hunt (part 1 of 2)
Egon Spengler x Lori Williams
(a/n: This will be taking place well over a year before Ghostbusters Inc. is established and Egon is still teaching Paranormal Studies at Columbia University in NYC. This fanfiction series will contain NSFW in some parts~)
~7:30am~
Lori woke up to the loud ringing of her alarm clock and she groaned, turning in her bed to turn it off. Once it was off, she sighed as sweet silence filled her studio apartment along with the sunlight that was streaming through her thin curtains. She turned towards the small terrarium where her little snake, Norman, lived and saw that he was still curled up and asleep in his little house, so she didn’t bother him. After a few more minutes of just laying in bed, Lori finally managed to roll herself out of bed to take a shower, making sure to bring her small radio with her so she could listen to the news and some music while she was getting ready for the day.
Her shower felt warm and relaxing and her thoughts ended up drifting towards Dr. Spengler and his 10am Paranormal Studies class. She had her paper completed and was thinking that she might have gone a little overboard on it. Dr. Spengler had only asked for a paragraph, but she ended up writing a whole page front and back since she just couldn’t help herself. Her mind then went from her assignment to her teacher, Dr. Egon Spengler, as she started to shampoo her hair. His hair was big and fluffy and dark, and she secretly wanted to touch it just to see if it was as soft as it looked. Just the thought of her running her fingers through Dr. Spengler’s hair made her stomach get butterflies and she suddenly felt a little warmer, so she turned down the heat of the shower a bit.
“Come on, Lori, you can’t be thinking like that..” Lori whispered to herself before rinsing the shampoo out of her hair and lathering up a washcloth to wash her body with. Dr. Spengler was her teacher, and he was probably a bit older than her and married...but she didn’t recall seeing a ring on his finger.. “I must be having caffeine withdrawals. I need coffee,” Lori sighed and she rinsed her body and turned off the shower and stepped out. She dried herself off then put on a robe and wrapped her hair in a towel before walking back into the kitchen to make her a quick cup of coffee and then practically chugged it.
She proceeded to get herself ready and made herself a simple breakfast consisting of toast and scrambled eggs along with another cup of coffee before grabbing her bag and heading out the door. At this point, it was 8:30am and she had to walk to the subway, ride it for about ten minutes then walk about a block to the building where her classes were. Lori’s red hair bounced as she walked up the steps and lo and behold, there was Dr. Spengler, walking up the stairs not too far in front of her. She gulped, a little nervous about calling out to him. He was a professor, so he was probably busy and wanted to get to the class, having no time to want to talk to a student.
“Dr. Spengler?” Lori ended up calling out, surprised at herself that the words even managed to escape her lips. Talking to teachers always made her a bit nervous since they were well above her, but Dr. Spengler seemed kind enough. He turned around when he heard his name and was surprised to see Lori walking up the stairs not too far behind him. He had his leather messenger bag on one shoulder and he was holding a large to-go coffee cup from one of the local shops.
“Miss Lori,” Egon managed a small smile towards Lori, stopping to let her catch up to him. He was feeling some slight warmth rise to his cheeks when he saw his red headed student walk up to him. They continued ascending the stone steps that led to the door together once Lori caught up and Egon felt pretty happy that one of his students was obviously showing up for his class, especially since it was her. “I’m quite glad to see you because I have something I want you to see after class.” Egon stated and Lori looked up at him in surprise and blinked a couple of times. “If you have the time of course,” he added, noticing her surprised expression.
“O-oh, yeah, yeah I have time after class.” Lori responded with a small stutter, making Egon smirk slightly in amusement. Lori had all the time in the world today since this was her only class and it was her off day from work, so there wasn't a better day than today for her professor to be asking her that, especially one that she had come to admire rather quickly.
Egon nodded, his expression remaining mostly emotionless and professional, but he couldn’t help but to loosen up slightly in front of Lori since she seemed to be a promising student and not at all because of her kindhearted and classy personality or her radiant smile or the graceful way her curly hair seemed to bounce as she walked alongside him or the way-
Egon had to shake his head slightly, blinked a few times hard to get those highly inappropriate thoughts out of his head. He cleared his throat and took a sip of his coffee before saying, “Good, good..” he replied before they both stopped at the door to the classroom and the tall, lean scientist turned to Lori and he looked down at her, his hand on the doorknob. “Just wait for me once class is over and we'll head to my office,” Egon told his student and she nodded her head as he opened the door and they both walked in, Egon letting her in first so she could take her seat at her desk and to get her assignment ready to be turned in.
“Good morning, everyone,” Egon stated as he set his bag down on the desk at the front of the class. “If you would, please pass up your homework assignment from the last class.” he said and a couple of people looked like they had totally forgotten about it while Lori and everyone else got out their assignments and passed them up front where Egon took them. His eyes widened slightly when he saw Lori’s paper, seeing as she had written a whole page when everyone either wrote the one paragraph or just a couple of sentences they scribbled down right before Egon walked in. Once he got everyone’s papers, he put them in a folder and slipped it back into his bag before starting class. “I’ll have those graded for you by Friday,” he stated before turning around to write on the chalkboard, officially beginning class.
Once class ended, the students packed up their things and filed out of the classroom to go to their next class. Lori put away her things and walked up to the desk, waiting on her professor. “Alright, follow me,” Egon said as he put his messenger bag back on his shoulder and started to lead her to his office. It wasn’t too far from the classroom, just a short walk down the hall where his office was at the very end to the right. He unlocked the door and opened it, letting Lori in first before he stepped inside and turned the lights back on. Lori looked around and saw that his office seemed to resemble organized chaos, with his desk sitting towards the right corner with a small, square Macintosh computer with keyboard and a square window diagonally behind it. He also had a typewriter on his desk as well with several papers scattered around. The shelf closest to the door had a variety of different molds, spores, and funguses, all kept in jars. To the far right of his office he had a large work space with a desk cluttered with tools, blueprints, and random mechanical parts Lori knew practically nothing about.
Egon shut the door behind them and he set his messenger bag down on his office chair then started for his cluttered workspace with Lori following behind him, curious as to what her professor wanted to show her. He grabbed this little device that was black with a few little buttons and a small screen. “This is..a PKE meter,” Egon said as he showed Lori. She got a closer look at it when Egon carefully handed it over to her. “Be careful with it, it’s not done yet.” he said and Lori nodded, carefully handling it and inspecting the sides of it.
“These things on the sides..do they come out somehow?” Lori asked curiously, making Egon grin in amusement. It wasn’t everyday someone was genuinely interested in his work.
“Yes, they raise according to how strong a presence is in the area. The closer you are to the entity,” Egon started.
“The more these things raise up,” Lori finished Egon’s sentence for him, making his grin grow slightly as he tried his best not to just smile from ear to ear. Lori seemed to get what Egon was going for with this PKE Meter naturally, so he decided that he was going to invite her to come along with him to test it out around the building.
“Miss Lori,” Egon started, clearing his throat a bit as Lori looked up at him. “Would you like to come with me to test it later tonight? I think I might be close to finishing it with just another test or two.” he explained and Lori looked pleasantly surprised, but excited at the opportunity.
“Yeah! Oh, wow, do you think we’ll actually pick up on anything?” Lori asked eagerly, looking from her professor and back to the PKE Meter a couple of times. Egon pushed his glasses up the bridge of his nose and gave a nod.
“There is a good chance that will happen. The last time I tested this was just a couple of weeks ago and it started to pick up something small in the art room on the second floor. I want to go back there tonight and see if I get a stronger response since I've done more work on it.” The tall scientist explained as his student carefully handed back his device that he’s been working so hard to perfect. Lori seemed very eager to learn more about this supposed entity in the second floor art room. “Meet me at the fountain tonight at eight. I have a key to get back into the building after hours.” Egon explained. He set the PKE Meter back down on the work table carefully, taking off his glasses for a moment to clean a smudge before placing them back onto the bridge of his nose.
Lori nodded, looking up at Dr. Spengler with admiration. She felt pretty good about herself since a professor asked her personally to help him out with an experiment. Plus, she had to admit, he was quite handsome and charming and whenever he would crack that small smile or grin, it was so sweet and genuine. Nothing about him seemed arrogant or boring or boastful like other students or even professors could be. Egon gave off a very gentle and kind hearted aura, and he seemed to have a never ending curiosity for the paranormal; a genuinely good human being.
“Fountain, eight o’ clock, I’ll be there.” Lori said, smirking up at her professor. She had a good feeling that they were going to get some good paranormal evidence tonight and was more than happy that her first ever ghost hunt would be with Dr. Egon Spengler and his PKE Meter.

Likes: Reading, scented candles (preferably candied apple or maple scented), any type of Asian food (mainly sushi or ramen), ghost hunting, spending time with Egon
Dislikes: People getting into her personal space, being ridiculed for believing in ghosts, being ridiculed by preferring reptiles over the generic dog or cat, most vegetables
Background: Lori is originally from Hoboken, New Jersey, where she lived with her mostly absent mother and older brother. After getting a full scholarship into Columbia University just across the water in NYC, she flew at the opportunity and moved out of her mother’s small, shabby house and moved into a studio apartment not far from campus. She spends her first three and a half years working and focusing on her major, not really having much time for a social life, until her final semester when she meets her professor for Paranormal Studies, Dr. Egon Spengler.

Egon Spengler x Student!OC
Ch. 1: The First Day
Egon Spengler x Lori Williams
(a/n: This will be taking place well over a year before Ghostbusters Inc. is established and Egon is still teaching Paranormal Studies at Columbia University in NYC. This fanfiction series will contain NSFW in some parts~)
It was the very start of a new semester for the curly, red headed young woman, who went by the name of Lori Williams, and she walked along the halls of the large university that she had come to know so well over the past few years. This semester was her very last one before she graduates and because of that, she was only a part-time student since she only had to take two more classes to finish up. One of the classes was Latin since she was an Ancient Studies major, and she was slightly dreading that one since Latin seemed to be a complicated language to learn. Her other class though seemed much more interesting to her, and that was Paranormal Studies. It was being taught by a man named Egon Spengler, and she’s heard some very interesting things about him. One thing Lori heard the most often whenever she told her friends about the class, was that he once tried to drill a hole into his own head for some sort of experiment. Thankfully, Dr. Venkman stopped him right on time and he made sure to take his drill away. This was the class she was headed to now and she felt like she just couldn’t walk fast enough. The world of the paranormal always seemed to captivate her ever since she was a little girl, and since her first paranormal encounter when she lived with her mother, she’s kept a hidden passion for it ever since.
“Room 316...316...” Lori spoke to herself as she followed the numbers of each class on the third floor. “312..314..and...316!” she smiled and felt a little anxious before opening the door. This was a class that most of the students took to get an easy A for a science credit, so she really didn’t expect herself to make any friends since this was something she was serious about. Lori just took a breath and she opened the door and stepped inside the classroom. There was already several people in the classroom, maybe around ten people or so, just talking to each other, asking each other how their Christmas breaks were and if this was the semester they would be graduating. She looked at the desk and saw no instructor yet, so she took a seat at the front of the class away from the main group of people and waited for Dr. Spengler to show up.
Suddenly, the doorknob turned and the door opened and in walked a tall man with round glasses and dark, fluffy hair. “Good morning, class. My name is Dr. Spengler, and I will be instructing your Paranormal Studies course.” Dr. Spengler said. His voice was deep and somewhat monotonous sounding, but he still seemed like a very interesting character nonetheless. He walked to his desk and he set his brown leather messenger bag down at the desk at the front of the class and he turned around to write his name, ‘Dr. Egon Spengler’, on the chalkboard. He turned around to face the class and to see exactly how many people signed up for his course. His face dropped a little when he saw that there was only around ten students in front of him, the majority of them only giving him half of their attention. Egon groaned internally, knowing that this was going to be another semester of students not really caring about his class, they just needed another science credit.
There was one student that caught his eye though. It was this red headed girl that was sat in the very front row all by herself. She had her eyes transfixed on Egon and seemed to be genuinely interested in the course.
“At least one person is interested..” Egon said silently to himself and he managed a small, slightly awkward smile, glancing around at everyone in the room.
“Raise your hand if you’re here for an easy science credit,” Egon started and everyone raised their hands slowly after glancing around at each other hesitantly. He hummed and nodded his head, noticing that the red head in front even raised her hand. “Okay..keep your hand up if you’re still interested in learning about ghosts.” Egon said next, putting emphasis on the word ‘ghost’ in hopes to get everyone a little more excited, but everyone put their hands down...except for Lori. Egon was happy that one person was excited about the class. One was always better than none, in his mind. Egon cleared his throat and he sent a smile towards Lori and she smiled back at him, making some very slight warmth rise in his cheeks. He cleared his throat again and went back to the desk and pulled up the attendance sheet and called out everyone’s names. His attendance sheet said there would be fifteen kids, but only ten showed up, which was pretty normal for his classes, then handed everyone their syllabus which included the textbook they needed, an overview of the class and tests, and his office hours and where it was located. He called out the names of everyone who was there and learned that the cute red head sitting up front went by Lori Williams, which he found to be quite a pretty and elegant name.
Egon still had to admit though, it disappointed him every year that so little people were interested in his classes and no one seemed to want to try. Although when he looked at the red head in front, Lori, he felt a little better and had more of a drive to teach. “Alright, let’s just go ahead and jump right in, shall we?” Egon started and Lori grinned excitedly and she got out her notebook and pencil and opened it to the first page and wrote the date at the top right corner, ready to start taking some notes. A few other students also got out their notebooks and pencils while the rest seemed content to just sit and listen, or at least half listen.
The hour and fifteen minutes went by quickly for Lori as Dr. Spengler taught everyone about the different types of ghosts and by telling a couple of stories about a couple of ghosts that everyone knows, like the Bell Witch from Tennessee and Bloody Mary from the UK. This caught everyone’s attention and the majority of the class seemed to enjoy his stories, especially Lori. Once class was done, Egon gave them a homework assignment to complete before the next class, which was the day after tomorrow.
“I want everyone to pick a type of ghost and write a one paragraph summary on it. It’s due this Wednesday, so you all have the rest of today and all of tomorrow to get this completed.” Egon explained and with that, he excused the class and all of the students gathered their things and headed towards their next class. Since Lori was the only part-time student, she was in no rush to get to a class because her only other class was on Tuesdays and Thursdays; the Paranormal Studies class was on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays. All Lori had to do today was go into work for eight hours later.
As Egon was packing his things into his messenger bag, Lori walked up to him and stood awkwardly for a moment, waiting to get his attention. Egon felt eyes on him and he looked up and was pleased to see Lori standing by the desk with her backpack hanging from one shoulder. “Oh, hello, Miss Lori,” Egon said. The corners of his mouth twitched slightly as he tried to fight back a grin since he wanted to keep a professional demeanor.
“Hi, Professor, I just had a question about the assignment,” Lori said. Her voice was very kind and warm sounding and it was soft as well, making it quite pleasant for Egon to listen to.
“Oh, of course, ask away.” Egon responded. He willingly let himself smile since at this point he just couldn’t seem to help it. No student has ever actually came to him with any kind of intelligent question before.
“For the assignment, did you want us to pick out a ghost like Bloody Mary or The Bell Witch? Or can it be a certain type of haunting? Because I was thinking about writing about Lemures...is that okay?” Lori asked. Egon’s eyes widened slightly at the question. Lemure ghosts were vengeful spirits whose lives were cut short and they can be mistaken for the common shadow person. Usually when Egon would bring up Lemures people would always think of the cute animal that lives in Madagascar, but it was really a malevolent spirit that menacingly would loom in dark corners, watching you. He was very impressed that Lori knew about these spirits and he found himself becoming more intrigued by her every second that went by.
“I, well,” Egon stuttered a bit and Lori waited for an answer as he gulped and pushed his glasses up the bridge of his nose. “Of course you may. I’m quite impressed that you know about such spirits, actually.” Egon said as he picked up his messenger bag and put it on his right shoulder and the two headed towards the door since another class would be starting there soon with another professor. Lori smiled at the compliment and thanked him, explaining that she’s always been interested in the paranormal.
“I’m convinced that my mother’s house was haunted. I had too many weird and scary experiences there not to be a believer.” Lori explained. She’s had more experiences outside of her mother’s house, but she would save those stories for another time. This made Egon let out a small chuckle of amusement, making Lori let out a soft laugh as well.
“Well, if you ever want to talk about some of your experiences, of if you have any questions about class, you know where my office is and when I’m there, okay?” Egon told her. They had stopped outside of the classroom for a moment to talk and Egon was looking down at his student as he towered over her.
Lori looked up at him and gave him another smile, nodding her head before saying, “I’ll do that. Thanks, Dr. Spengler. See you Wednesday!” she said before turning around and headed towards the stairs. Egon watched her descend down the stairs until she was almost out of sight before turning to head to his office and for the first time, he couldn’t seem to get a student out of his mind. A student.
Egon let out a long sigh as he sat down at his desk in his office, his door shut for privacy. So instead of thinking about things he shouldn’t be, the tall, dark haired man stood up and pulled out a project he’s been working on for a while.
