#HappyEaster Making Memories, Having Fun Doing It It was Easter Sunday and in my home city, New York City a tradition dating back to 1870 made its live come back after a two year hiatus due to the pandemic. Yes, after 2 years we had our informal New York City Easter Bonnet Parade for all to attend and the day was gloriously sunny and just right for all of us to be there. In anticipation and my heart going out to the people and pets of Ukraine I got to work on Easter outfits for my boys, Bogie and Kimba and, of course my chapeau, a traditional though themed out top hat. I chose the colors of Ukraine and took from there. As you can see by the photo we had a blast as did everyone who got out and about. Bogie's and Kimba's blinged out tuxedos with tails along with matching top hats feature sequins, stones, orchids and rhinestones and more as did my coordinating top hat. Everyone loves Easter, when spring is sprung and the egg hunt is on. It's an exciting time to spend time with the family. Who said dogs aren't family too? If for some reason you can't see family for this holiday, it's no reason to worry. You can still have an enjoyable Easter with your four legged friend(s). Here are five Easter ideas for dogs that include fun activities for you and your pup!

1. Easter Photoshoot!

This is number one on the list of Easter ideas for dogs. It is a super fun one you and your dog can do together. You can either take pictures of just your dog or both of you together. This will make memories to remember and look back on. So go grab your camera, costumes, and props, and make you and your dog into stars! Here are some tips to get you ready. Clean Up You can give your dog a bath to make sure their coat is nice and shiny. Also if you are going to get in the shots with them, you may want to take a quick shower to wash your face and hair. Make sure that you and your dog's hair is completely dry. We don't want it looking wet for the photos. Dress Up Decide how you wish to style you and your dog. You can try for something matching if your going to be in the photos with them. If your dog's a female you can give them a bow in their hair, while if their a guy a bow tie would look nice. If your dog is small you can buy outfits and go all out. You can get things like dresses and tank tops. Make sure they aren't too tight on them though. The best Easter costume would be some bunny ears! Pick A Location Pick a place to do the shoot. You can move around and do the photo shoot multiple places but you want to have good backdrops. For an Easter themed photo shoot, doing it outside would be best! Unless it's a rainy day, then choose a good bright place inside. You don't have to do your photo shoot completely at home. Local parks or nature trails are great places to take pictures. Treats Have some training treats handy. You need your dog to sit or lay still for better photos, or any other positions they have been trained. Take Pictures Now that your ready go grab your camera and start snapping your pictures! You can make the pictures into a video or album afterwards to have and remember. iMovie is a good apple app to use!

2. Easter Egg Hunt!

Here's how it goes! - Get a bunch or plastic Easter eggs. - Put tiny pieces of dog food in each and save some to put treats in them. We only want a few with treats because we don't want to spoil your dogs appetite. Don't worry though, your dog will mistaken the eggs that have kibble in them for treats and be just as excited. - If it's a nice day outside then I would recommend doing the hunt outside. If it's rainy or cold then you can do this inside. Now it's time to hide the eggs. Hide some in really easy obvious spots, some easy but a little hidden, and some more challenging. Your dog will soon learn the concept and start searching around for the prizes. That's is. Very easy game to prepare and super worth it!

3. Carrot Cake Pupcakes!

Third on the list of Easter ideas for dogs is this fun baking activity for you and your sweet furry friend. Who doesn't think of bunnies when they think of Easter? Well what do bunnies eat? Carrots of course! Carrot cake is a common food eaten on Easter. So while you enjoy some of your own, your dog should be able to have some too. With this dog same Carrot cake pupcake recipe your dog can enjoy the same treat with you. Here's everything you need to know to make them. This recipe is courtesy of DogsofCharmCity.com. Ingredients: Pupcakes- - 1 tsp. Baking Powder - 1/2 Cup Vegetable Oil - 1/4 Cup Shredded Carrot - Pinch of Cinnamon (optional) - 1 Egg - 1 Cup Flour - 1/2 Cup Pumpkin Puree - 1/2 Cup Unsweetened Applesauce Frosting- - 1/2 Cup Cream Cheese or Plain Greek Yogurt - 1/4 Cup Peanut Butter Pupcake Toppings (optional)- - Carrot (Shredded, chopped or spiraled, however you would like it) - Dog Friendly Sprinkles (you can buy some here) - Shredded Coconut (unsweetened) Instructions: - First thing preheat your oven to 350 degrees F and get out a muffin tin. Use paper liners or spray with non stick spray. - Grab two bowls. In the first we will add the dry ingredients like the baking powder, cinnamon, and flour. In the other bowl mix together your applesauce, egg, oil, pumpkin, and shredded carrots. Then combine all your ingredients until fully mixed. - Take your batter and spoon it in your muffin tins, making them about 2/3 full. Then put them in the oven and let them cook for 15-20 minutes. (You can make sure they are done by sticking a toothpick in one, it it comes out clean they are ready.) Make sure they are cooled before frosted. - You can do this part while waiting for your pupcakes to cool. Get out a mixing bowl and hand mix all your frosting ingredients together. You can either frost them by just spreading it on with a knife or by putting it in a ziploc bag and cutting the tip for a makeshift piping bag to put it on fancier! - Then you can put your desired toppings on the top and wallah, they're ready for your dog to enjoy! (You can give your dog the frosting bowl to lick afterwards too.) If you want to keep the rest for another day just plop them in the fridge. They stay good for about a week. Yet if you keep them in the freezer they stay good up to 2 months.

4. Have a Picnic

The fourth activity on our list of Easter ideas for dogs is the age old picnic. A picnic is the perfect thing to do as spring is starting. You can go do this in your own backyard! Here is what you'll need. - Blanket or Towel - Materials to eat like plates, forks, spoons, napkins, and cups. - Your dog's food bowl with food, and your dogs water bowl filled with water. - Dog treats - Food like sandwiches and fruit Once you have everything you need you and your dog can eat and hangout together while getting some sun! Just find a nice location such as the backyard or park. You can also play outside afterwards. You could play chase, fetch, or tug of war.

5. Doggie Easter Basket
