ghoul element perfume associations!

i've done a few scent association lists for individual ghouls, and i thought it would be fun to do one for elements instead! it's a little more general, which lets me include perfume that i really like but that don't fit any of the ghouls exactly. as always, i would love your feedback!!

Earth: Dense, earthy, bitter, green scents reminiscent of forests, gardens, and ruins halfway reclaimed by nature.

Notes: wood, vetiver, greenery, moss, soil, fruit, rose, stone, fungus

Rose Fantôme - LVNEA

“Rose Fantôme breathes not the fresh blooming rose but the one that has been cut, left and forgotten. Now one with its surroundings, it blends with the scents of dried grass and lichen, hay, and dirt.”

(i have this one, it's forest-y but also pretty light for a forest perfume. definitely a summery, magical forest smell)

Holy Oak - LVNEA

Water: Water ghouls tend to have smooth, cold scents. Some are sweet, some are sour, some are salty, but all of them reflect different bodies of water.

Quintessence: Heavy, warm, creamy scents. Quintessence ghouls tend to smell comforting, and their scents reflect human creations much more often than other ghouls’.

(one of my favorites of all time. it smells like nighttime but magical, somehow. the amber, violets, and espresso are most noticeable and it's so good. if dark purple was a scent it would be this imo)

Earth Ghoul Headcanon 𖠰

This might sound really dumb but hear me out.

Ghouls have 4 types of forms they can take.

glamour/human

pure ghoul

glam-ghoul (basically just half mixed between pure ghoul and glamoured)

and another form, sort of like a monster of some sort

I've seen stuff about water ghouls having forms like mermen or mermaids, but I haven't really seen anything like that for the other ghouls. But I have an idea for Earth.

I feel like if these forms did exist and they all have some kind of monster disguise, earth ghouls would be gargoyles.

Think about it. All of the earth ghouls, past and present. Earth, Pebble, Ivy, and Mountain as these stone guardians of the ministry.

Gargoyles have like, an architectural design and element. They're made of rock. Earth.

They're seen as protectors or guardians. They ward off evil doers and anyone who means harm, but they stick to the shadows and keep to themselves since they're so misinterpreted.

This is kind of how I imagine the earth ghouls.

They're reserved (even if chaotic) and a lot of the siblings of sin are afraid of them. But in reality, they wouldn't hurt a fly. They just want to protect their own.

And the reason I could see them as gargoyles isn't just personality and purpose, but appearance.

A lot of people have mentioned the ghouls having physical traits that go with their elements (ex. water ghouls have gills and scales) and I've seen that for earth too, but mostly only horns and tails.

Yes, I love the idea of them having tiny trees as horns and leaf shaped tails- but why don't they get other features added like a water ghoul's useful gills or a fire ghoul's unique Siamese coloring?

So hear me out- stone bodies. Yes, it's kind of weird, but it's a demon. And by the way, I don't mean spots of skin where it's tough as rock. No, I mean a body completely and fully made of rock.

In their gargoyle form, they are living, walking statues. It's a bit difficult to move at times since they're so dense, and you can hear them coming a mile away, but it's just how they are.

It also adds to their weight and strength. Since they're just their normal size, but stone, they're like a person shaped boulder. They're incredibly hard to lift.

But since they're so much weight, a lot of weight can rest on them and they can also cause major impacts. Need someone to hold something heavy? Ask one of them. Need to someone to lift you up? Ask one of them. Need someone punched hard enough to kill 'em? Ask one of them.

Also, the wings! They have wings in their gargoyle forms. They're normally similar to types of bat wings, but they can occasionally have a type that are shaped kinda like bird/angel wings. And they're quite large too. Not tremendously huge, but big enough to probably wrap around another person.

But anyways, that's really all I have to say. Forgive me if this sounds dumb but there's my earth ghoul gargoyle headcanons.

Since earth ghouls have been on my mind, here's some thoughts:

Pebble has severe hearing loss, it's what stopped him from touring and why Ivy took his spot for the rest of the Meliora era. The ghoul commonly forgets to even wear his hearing aids, having grown accustomed to reading lips. The only time he does wear them is when he works with Earth, the need for both ghouls to hear the minimal machinery used in harvests. So when he discovered his hearing aids are messed up, it took him over a month to go down to the infirmary to see the audiologist (whom he has major beef with) and he wouldn't have if Ivy hadn't spent days nagging him about it.

Pebble was also the first ghoul to recognize something being off with Mountain and their hearing. The smaller ghoul noticed how they didn't respond when spoken to if not devoting their full attention to the person speaking to them. How Mountain's attention was best captured in the way the ghouls catch his own: stomping, flickering lights, tapping their shoulder, waving aggressively etc. However, Mountain actually wearing their hearing aids and really enjoys them. Meanwhile, Pebble will take his out and leave them in the most random of places. Or even take them out during an argument (and closing his eyes like a spiteful shit because he doesn't want to see or hear Ivy's nagging).

Ivy on the other hand, has perfect hearing (and vision. However, the earth ghoul is still stricken with a chronic illness. He has Crohn's disease and lives sort of an unconventional life with an ostomy. So when Ivy isn't nagging Pebble about his health, the smaller ghoul is nagging Ivy about his health. He refuses to avoid his trigger foods, especially nuts and ice cream, even though he knows he'll be sick for days afterwards. When ill and bedridden, Pebble is always around to help him whenever needed. They're an inseparable pair, a bond formed from being summoned so close together. Always there to nag the other, but to be a source of comfort when one has to weather the storm.

Mountain also probably has the Bluetooth hearing aids instead of traditional in ear monitors. They just Bluetooth him to the track.

But the fucking image of Pebble and Terzo getting into it and the little shit chucks his hearing aids and then closes his eyes is fucking hilarious

Hello Clergy!!!! I've been reading your blog for a bit now and I absolutely love and onjey your National Geographic on ghouls. And I was wondering if there were more types ghouls in hell like:

○Light/Sun ghouls mostly live in the desert/Sahara plains of hell and they move in tribes like nomads, and they follow the

Sun as much as they can.

○Shadow/moon ghouls live in caves (their kinda like bats), they are nocturnal, they sleep through the day and come out at night to get with their lives, and they can not live without the moon in hell or on earth, (they have runes on their body that glow in the moonlight)

○Plant ghouls are a sub class of earth ghouls, they live in the jungle of hell, their much weaker then earth ghouls and most other too

(That's all I have, sorry if my English isn't good)

If you don’t mind my joining in with what I do for mine for these three types!: :)

-I actually have a plant based type of ghoul element, too! I do Earth ghouls in three categories; Normal/Plains type, Stone (rock and mountains), and Forest! Forest ghouls are your plant elemental types. They live in HUUUUGE trees, are typically very short, and are one of the biggest populations in Hell.

-Light elemental ghouls are actually a hybrid in my works! Sunshine is one of them! :) Sun/light ghouls are a mix of a fire element and air element. Air ghouls are both weather and air based, and when mixed with fire you can get really cool hybrids! Sometimes they manifest as lightning, and sometimes they manifest as pure light! Sunshine, for example, has powers that can be used to make beams of light!

-I think the closest I have to any type of ‘night’ or ‘moon’ ghoul are various Aether ghouls! Aether as an element embodies a LOT of different powers. Aether ghouls can have gifts in anything from manipulating shadows, to healing, to seeing the paths of the universe, and to even melding space itself! So many Aether ghouls are drawn to celestial bodies like the moon, and work very well at night! They particularly adore our Moon on Earth because it affords them more magic during certain phases.

Seriously, you should write more of yours!! They are so cool and I’d love to see it!! Thank you for sharing!! :)
