If a child of a reigning monarch who is not the heir marries a noble, say a count, duke or grand duke, would they still have the rank of royalty or would they be nobility now?

They will always be royalty but they will be apart of both classes now. For example, Princess Margaret was still a Princess of the United Kingdom after her marriage to the Earl of Snowden. She was referred to as Her Royal Highness, The Princess Margaret, Countess of Snowden.

His age makes him perfect to replace some of the elderly cousins of HM the Late Queen. He is a perfect fit.
