Dexter Charming Headcanons:
His full name is Prince Dexterous Deft Discerning Charming. Shortening it to “Dexter” was the least embarrassing path to go down.
Dexter refuses to wear contact lenses because he has incredibly sensitive eyes.
He’s an avid bookball player, more-so than Daring. If anything, he’s a better player than Daring due to his knowledge of math and physics.
He’s very interested in ghosts, monsters, and spooky aesthetics. It’s one of the first things that led to Cupid’s crush on him and what led to his crush on Raven. His favorite stories were of mad scientists.
He’s an amazing dancer. Again, better than Daring. But because everyone wanted to dance with Daring, no one ever realized it.
He’s a pretty decent singer, but he wasn’t allowed to take lessons because “singing is for princesses.”
His true fated destiny was supposed to be Ashlynn’s prince, but he chooses to be Raven’s Good King.
His parents think Raven slipped him a love potion, even though he had a crush on her first.
He’s really good at fighting and fencing. He was never allowed to thrive in those areas because his parents drilled in the idea that he always needed to be “second-best” to Daring.
He keeps an audio diary to help with his communication skills, but he mostly uses it to vent out his frustrations.
He and Darling would alternate roles when they played “Knights and Princesses”.
He tries to swear, but always chickens out at the last minute.
His relationship with Raven has helped him grow more confident. It also helped him realize how bad his childhood was when he opened up to her about it. Because she knows what it’s like to have a toxic parent (but also has a good parent), she lets him know that this is not normal and he is more than enough.
Dexter was the first of his siblings to stand up to his parents about what he wants. Both Daring and Darling were in shock by this.
He finds Hunter and Sparrow attractive, but he was never romantically interested in them.
He is a doting rabbit dad to Mr. Cottonhorn, his pet jackalope. He often talks to him like a normal person.
Dexter would secretly visit Darling when she was locked in a tower. He sometimes looks back and wishes he had helped more in some way. Darling understands how afraid he was of their parents and doesn’t hold it against him. She was happy to have someone to talk to, anyway.
He shares a close relationship with Raven’s father, the Good King. He was super nervous about meeting him, but the King was very welcoming and put Dexter at ease almost immediately. The Evil Queen thinks Dexter’s a nice kid, but he’s not good enough for Raven.
He found out about Cupid’s crush on him long after she had gotten over him. He apologized for not realizing it sooner, but she doesn’t hold a grudge against him. It did make him work to be more aware.
Dexter and Darling were born prematurely, explaining why they’re nine months younger than Daring. Dexter was the smaller of the two.
