also quite obsessed with karl being as detached from the story as he is. there's nothing that makes him have to be the detective that has to be involved, but he unknowingly dooms himself by agreeing to work with the KYAL cult. every other detective basically deals with elias head on except weissman, who only meets him right before he kills him. like he's right when he says "by my choices" because everything that leads him to being mixed up with the mannix cult is himself. it's the gambling debts and the choice to do the dirty work for an organisation he knows nothing about. he's the only one that doesn't encounter that body doing police work and it's specifically because he's told to cover it up. he gets himself into the mess and eventually fixes it but the fact that esther always dies in the doomed timelines and he's always too late even if he starts wanting to change things ("till this child. esther.") it just makes me very ill

vogue is an insane publication. they will do a piece about the realities of being in a war torn country complete with photographs of destruction and rubble, and then on the next page theres an equal length article like ARE YOU INSECURE ABOUT YOUR UGLY FUCKING KNEES?? YOU SHOULD BE!! OUR EXPERTS TELL YOU WHY YOU NEED PLASTIC SURGERY TO FIX THIS FLAW!!

I'm declaring these finished. Forgot to drill some holes in the Sector 7 sign, but no big deal. Replica Blade Runner license plate & street sign. Cut vinyl on black plastic for the license plate, spraypaint on white plastic for the street sign. Plus multiple rounds of hand-applied acrylic paint washes for weathering. Very pleased with how dirty they look. Not perfect, but maybe that just adds to their charm. Not shown is the parking meter sign, which needs another good coat of matte clear sealant, and then sanding the corners, and then the painted weathering : / Waiting for the weather to cooperate on that one.

finally watched the barbie movie. guys it's literally just an advertisement. yall hyped up an advertisement. y'all hyped up a 2-hour russian nesting doll of advertisements with surface level feminism that doesn't actually accomplish anything. this is literally just a giant, "edgy-but-self-aware" advertisement. it says alllll the right things, all of the politically correct things, but at the end of the day IT! IS! STILL! AN! AD!!! mattel does NOT care about ur asses and the literal BILLION dollars they made off of this movie only proves that.

fuck it I've had enough. I had an intro to cultural anthropology class a semester ago, but looking at recent bullshit in Florida, I have a few things to say:
I'm sick of people treating culture like it's some chunk of earth.
It's neither something you can wage war on nor fight for. It is not a finite amount of substances that is adulterated with new introductions. It isn't something precious in the same way a piece of jewelry or what have you; not preserved safe by being put in a locked box. Cultures are not the current models of bludgeon that groups of people impose upon others. One's culture, in total, is not an "immovable cornerstone" of anything made by humans. It is not in any way like stone.
It did not exist before there were people to possess it. A culture is something we've created amongst each other. In short, it is a conversation. one of beliefs, institutions, and knowledge; spoken by the beliefs and actions of it's participants. It is a conversation that you have a voice in too.
If you forget anything I say before or since, please do not forget that.
