January 15th Calling all Robo Riders to the starting line! Robo Riders was a pre-Bionicle theme that started in 2000 and was the predecessor to the Slizor/Throw Bots theme. They featured collectable wheels with different colors and pictures on them. Although highly collectable, the fad never really took off quite like the Kanohi/Mask packs did with Bionicle. Never the less Robo Riders remains to be among my top 10 themes of all time simply because of the uniqueness of them. This one I made here is genetically modeled after the Robo Riders template, featuring the iconic collectable wheels in a rare color. It's much like a combination of the Throw Bot named Torch, and the Robo Rider named Dust. The Torch head plate goes great with the trans neon orange wheels that were technically exclusive to the accessory packs, and were not featured on any particular rider... July 10th The Dune Striker was an off-road car featured in the Drome Racers videogame. Few of the Drome Racers cars were actual sets, less than half! One thing that was neat was the inclusion of the alternate builds of some of the sets. The Raptor, G-force, and Power Crusher, all included their alternate builds as drivable cars to make up for the lack of designs. One of these cars was the Dune Striker. Although it never truly existed as a set or even an alternate build, after taking a closer look at the parts included it becomes apparent the Dune Striker uses the same parts that come in the Power Crusher! You can see the examples of the Dune Striker from the game, as well as the Power Crusher set on the final slides to better see what I'm talking about. February 13th Today I bring you the Torque Racer from the Drome Racers video game! This game brought me many hours of fun as a kid. I loved the cars, the tracks, and the music. The 3rd slide shows a shot of this car from the game. The Torque Racer was a favorite for driver Katsu, head driver for team R.E.D. Facing Katsu on the track known as "The Array", was arguebly the most difficult one on one challenge in the game. Even though Sever was technically the final challenge... Although this build is almost a complete copy from the game, I did add/change some particular components that fit better with some parts that weren't available at the original time of creation for the car/game. I have built a few other of the cars from the game that weren't ever released as sets, such as a Pulse Concept, and Dune Striker.
