Hi!! I managed to transcribe the additional lyrics of Dororo 1969′s opening “Dororo no Uta” and I added it to the wiki’s lyrics in parenthesis! I also added the full version of the song AND the instrumental version of the full version (a lot I know) to the wiki.
Description: A detailed rendition of the original cover for the 2004 SEGA Playstation 2 title “Dororo”, also known as “Blood Will Tell” outside of Japan. It depicts the two main characters, Hyakkimaru and Dororo, as well as the title in way that parodies PS2 covers in a modern fashion.
Hello, Tumblr!!! I’m pinning this post because I am SO proud of how this turned out and I hope all my fellow Dororo and Tezuka Star System fans show up to support me on this one! I own a copy of Blood Will Tell that is caseless, so I really wanted to use the blank case I have and remake the cover for it… So I did! I also poorly cut together a booklet with it for printing purposes to put into the blank case. I don’t have a photo of that though, unfortunately. Regardless, I’m still very happy with how it turned out.
Princess Knight would be tricky to adapt cuz I feel the original anime handled things a lot better than the manga and then also it’s gotten deconstructed in shows like Tutu and Utena so like you’d have to pull out something truly amazing and unambiguously queer and I don’t think Tezuka Pro as they are currently would do it
The main reason Dororo 1969 works is because its primarily a horror show. If they had decided to focus on action it would fall apart. They simply couldn’t really execute exciting action scenes on the budget and schedule of a tv anime in the 60s, (well I’m sure it would’ve been good enough to satisfy kids in the 60s, but not to stand the test of time.) But horror can much more easily be executed with cheap limited animation than action can, because the most important part of horror is atmosphere, which you can accomplish through backgrounds, music, and some creepy visuals, no flashy animation required (which isn’t to say the show doesn’t also get creative with its animation sometimes too, it does.) That focus on horror and atmosphere also helps to set it apart from the manga and give it its own identity.
